CREMONA, Italy -- Former Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni and 16 other people were arrested across Italy on Monday in an ongoing investigation into match-fixing and illegal betting on games. Louis Vasquez . The inquiry is focused on several matches in Serie B over the past two seasons -- with three of the matches including Atalanta. Three Serie A matches from last season are also under investigation: Brescia vs. Bari, Brescia vs. Lecce and Napoli vs. Sampdoria. "This is not the end but just a starting point," Cremona prosecutor Roberto Di Martino said. "Lets hope its a starting point in cleaning up the beautiful game that is football. One of the suspects has admitted that these operations have been going on for over 10 years. "At the top of the organization are men from Singapore who are those who move the money, but the shareholders are divided from the West, to the Far East, to South America and they manage with their men how to change the outcome of football matches." The arrests come five years after another major match-fixing scandal -- restricted to club and referee officials but not players -- resulted in Juventus getting relegated to Serie B for a season, plus point penalties for Lazio, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Reggina in Serie A. Others arrested Monday include former Inter Milan and Roma player Luigi Sartor, former Serie B player Alessandro Zamperini and active players Carlo Gervasoni of Piacenza and Filippo Carobbio of Spezia. Charges include criminal association and sporting fraud, while Doni -- who was placed under investigation in June -- has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to destroy evidence. "There were several elements that would have risked ruining the evidence and that lead to the need for custodial measures," Di Martino said. A phone call was reportedly intercepted between Doni and Ravenna goalkeeping coach Nicola Santoni -- who has also been arrested -- in which the pair discuss tampering with Santonis iPhone, which had been confiscated by police in June. Reports say Doni attempted to flee after police arrived at his house Monday morning. The 38-year-old Doni opened the door to the officers but then tried to escape via his garage, where he was caught. In the order of arrest for Doni, judge Guido Salvini wrote that "Doni, acting also on behalf of unnamed club directors, who were aiming for promotion to Serie A, interfered or tried to interfere in the results of multiple games of his team, with the purpose of illegitimately procuring for himself the proceeds of bets." Doni and the rest of the defendants have been forbidden from talking to their lawyers for the next five days. As recently as last month, Gubbio defender Simone Farina was approached and offered C200,000 ($260,000) to influence the outcome of an Italian Cup match between Cesena and Gubbio on Nov. 30. The player refused and reported the incident to the police. Farina started his career in Romas youth team with Zamperini. In June, 16 people were arrested as part of the inquiry, which is being led by prosecutors in Cremona, and Doni was then placed under investigation. In August, Doni was banned from football for 3 1/2 years by the Italian football federations disciplinary committee, and Atalanta -- which was promoted to Serie A for this season -- was given a six-point penalty. Doni has said he is innocent. UEFA has said it will wait and see what emerges from the investigation before deciding whether to take action. "UEFA is not able to make an official comment at the moment," spokesman Robert Faulkner told Italian news agency ANSA. "Of course match-fixing is one of UEFAs main concerns. But in this specific case it is purely an Italian investigation, which mainly concerns Serie B matches. "Even though UEFA pays a lot of attention to everything that concerns match-fixing and clandestine betting, this specific case does not directly involve it." Von Miller . Monaco is challenging fellow big-spender Paris Saint-Germain for the French title and needed to sign a striker to compensate for Colombia striker Radamel Falcaos long-term injury. Peyton Manning . Arsenal fell behind when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny spilled Kevin Nolans shot and Carlton Cole pounced to score a minute into the second half. West Ham goalkeeper Adrian was also culpable for Arsenals equalizer, with Walcott cutting in from the right and striking between his legs in the 68th. TOKYO -- Baseball and softball still have a chance of being included in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, IOC President Thomas Bach said Wednesday. "This will be under discussion," Bach said at a news conference. "We will have the first broad discussion in December in a meeting of the executive board of the IOC, then the executive board will present its first discussion paper to the IOC session in Sochi." Baseball and softball were dropped from the 2012 program after a 2005 vote by the IOC. The two sports merged into a single federation in a bid for inclusion in Tokyo, but lost out to wrestling in an IOC vote in September in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Squash also had sought a spot in the 2020 program. Tokyos winning bid for the 2020 Olympics has prompted calls in Japan for baseball and softball to be included when the Japanese capital hosts the games. While the Olympic Charter states that a sports inclusion in the program must be decided not later than the session electing the host city, Bach stressed the need to be flexible. "I am open for more flexibility in the Olympic program," said Bach, who was elected president in September to succeed Jacques Rogge. "But first we have to see what the rest of my colleagues in thee IOC think. Terrance Knighton. " Baseball and softball are very popular in Japan and there are many existing facilities in the Tokyo area that could be used if the sports were included. Bach was accompanied by IOC vice-president John Coates, who heads the co-ordination commission for the Tokyo Games. Japan is scaling down the cost of the planned 80,000-seat main stadium following an uproar from some prominent architects who think its too big and expensive. Coates said the IOC is open to changes as long as the cutbacks dont compromise the basic plan of the facility. "Its inevitable that costs will be reduced," Coates said. "We are always open to that as long as the basic facility isnt compromised." Japan has been in territorial disputes with both China and South Korea but Bach said he didnt see that as a problem that would affect the 2020 Games. "Sport is always about building bridges and never about building walls," Bach said. "The language of sport is the language of dialogue and mutual respect, and this is why I think sport can play a positive role." Over the past year, China has increased patrols near the Japanese-administered islands that it calls Diaoyu, and which Japan calls Senkaku. ' ' '

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Stephen Gallacher of Scotland shot a final round 72 Sunday to become the first player to successfully defend the Dubai Desert Classic title, beating Emiliano Grillo of Argentina by one stroke. http://www.nflchiefsus.com/Womens-Alex-Smith-Authentic-Jersey/ . Gallacher fought back after four bogeys over his opening eight left him in a five-way tie for the lead after 11 holes. He won the 25-year-old tournament with an overall 16-under 272 for only his third victory in 18 years and 431 events on the European Tour. Grillo secured his best Tour finish with an overall 15-under 273 when he eagled the last hole for a round of 66. Frenchman Romain Wattel also shot a 66, including birdies on the last two holes, to finish tied in third on 14-under 274 with Brooks Koepka (70) of the United States. RoryMcIlroy struggled with a 74 to finish tied for ninth while top-ranked TigerWoods (71) birdied his closing three holes for a share of 41st with a 6-under 282. The 39-year old Gallacher eventually broke clear of the logjam atop the leaderboard to birdie Nos. 13, 16th and 17th before a regulation par at the last. "It took everything I had to win today especially after the start I had when I bogeyed the first two holes," Gallacher said. "The good thing is that I was fortunate that no one was running away with the tournament ... The turning point came at 11 when I holed a nice putt for birdie." The win puts Gallacher into the top 40 in the world, putting him in strong position to play the Masters for the first time in his career. The top 50 in the world at the end of March get into the Masters. McIlroy began the last day two shots behind playing partner Gallacher but was 2-over after 10 holes before the first birdie of his round at the 11th. The Northern Irishman then bogeyed the 12th and 13th before only his second birdie of the round at No. 17. "On the rare occasions I got the ball close, I didnt make any putts, so it was one of those days," McIlroy said. "I thought if I could get to 16 under it would be good enough and it turned out that it was as thats what Stephen got to. I just wasnt able to play well enough to get there. It was just one of those days. Anything that could go wrong, did." Justin Houston Two Tone Jersey . Louis this evening. DAYTON, Ohio -- D. http://www.nflchiefsus.com/Womens-Zach-Fulton-Authentic-Jersey/ .J. Evans is charitably listed at 5-foot-9. His coach and teammates tease him that he looks a foot shorter. Yet he stood awfully tall for Albany on Tuesday night. Evans scored 22 points, including two clinching free throws with 12.6 seconds left, to lead the Great Danes to their first NCAA tournament victory, 71-64 over Mount St. Marys in the First Four. Evans, an often overlooked component in Albanys lineup, belied his height with nine rebounds to go with three assists. "Hes about 4-foot-8, so hes really impressive," laughed his running mate at guard, Peter Hooley, who had 20 points. "I dont think theres another 4-8 guard who could go in there and get that many boards. He did what he needed to do to get this win." It was a signature victory for the America East Conference tournament champs, who had come up empty in three previous trips to the big dance. "It means a lot," said an emotional coach Will Brown. "Theres no better feeling. Like I told our kids, were going to be in the history books at the University of Albany forever." The Great Danes (19-14) advance to meet overall No. 1 seed and top-ranked Florida on Thursday in Orlando. But that was a concern for another day. It was a wild game of incredible turnarounds, with the Great Danes bolting to leads of 13-0 and 21-2, only to have The Mount (16-17) bounce back with a 21-2 run of its own to pull even. Hooley, one of three Australians on the Albany roster, hit two free throws with 2:43 remaining to stretch the lead to 65-62. After Julian Norfleet countered with a bucket, Hooley again pounded his way to the basket and lofted a shot over a defender for a 67-64 lead at the 2-minute mark. It stayed that way with the teams missing big shots. Rashad Whack and Norfleet each missed potential tying 3s -- Whacks rolled almost inside the rim and then bounded away. "When it hit the rim, I thought it was going to go in," Whack said softly. Evans was fouled with 12.6 seconds left and hit both shots to increase the lead to five points -- and out of reach of another long-range shot. Evans was most proud of his rebounding. "They shot a lot of 3s and there were a lot of long rebounds," he said with a grin. "I was just at the right place at the right time." After playing two years of junior-college ball and sitting behind a senior starter a year ago, Brown told Evans his day would eventually come. "Hes the happiest kid in the world right now," Brown said. Norfleet then missed another 3 and Albany finally could call itself an NCAA winner. Will Miller, a freshman who came off the bench, led The Mount with 21 points, all on 3s. But he didnt get off a shot in the last 3:32 after making back-to-back 3s to draw the Mountaineers within a point. Whack added 16 points and Sam Prescott 14 for The Mount, which electrified the crowd at the University of Dayton with 3-point fireworks. The Mountaineers hit 12 of 37 shots behind the arc to time and again come back from deficits. The glut of 3-pointers was nothing new for the Mountaineers. They came in with an offence heavily dependent on shots behind the arc. They averaged 9 of 25 on 3-pointers coming in. Albany had made some racket in the NCAAs before, but had never come out on top. In 2006, the Great Danes led by double figures in the second half but lost to Connecticut, 72-59. A year later, they held their own before falling Virginia, 84-57. A year ago, as a 15 seed, they battled Duke throughout before coming up short, 73-61. Mount St. Marys was also making its fourth NCAA appearance, although it had won once before -- a victory over Coppin State in 2008 in the old format of an opening-round leading into the big tournament. Albany led 35-31 at the break, but that didnt tell the story of one bizarre half. The Mount couldnt do much right for the first 8-plus minutes. The Great Danes raced to a 13-0 lead. The Mountaineers missed misfired on their first 11 shots from the field, including six behind the arc. "A lot of teams would have folded," said Mount coach Jamion Christian. "Our guys didnt do that. They took the punch and they bounced back." Things quickly turned around, with Mount going on an 18-0 run. Like a couple of sparring partners, the teams kept trading flurries in the second half. Down 45-41, Albany went on a 10-1 run. Trailing 60-53, the Mountaineers scored nine of the next 12 capped by Millers two 3s to cut the deficit to a point. That set the stage for Evans to play like a giant. Jamaal Charles Camo Jersey . The Browns coaching search remains incomplete. Alex Smith White Jersey . -- Patriots nose tackle VinceWilfork says hes closer to achieving his goal of finishing his career with New England.SPOKANE, Wash. -- Adreian Payne sent Tom Izzo a text. He wants to leave a legacy. Consider it done. The 6-foot-10 senior played the game of his life Thursday, scoring a career-high 41 points to help fourth-seeded Michigan State look every bit like a March Madness favourite in a 93-78 victory over Delaware. "He was playing in another zone, not even in the ozone," Izzo said. "He was in Pluto and beyond." This marked the first 40-point performance in the NCAA tournament since Stephen Curry did it for Davidson in a win over Gonzaga in 2008. Payne set a school tournament scoring record, surpassing the 34 points Greg Kelser scored during Michigan States 1979 title run led by Magic Johnson. Paynes overall line: 10 for 15 from the field, 4 for 5 from 3-point range, and a tournament-record 17 for 17 from the free throw line. He chipped in eight rebounds, too. "Forty-one is 41, and he was a load tonight," Delaware coach Monte Ross said. "He was probably the best big man that I have faced in 21 years of college basketball." Payne thought long and hard about leaving for the NBA after last season. He decided to stick around to see if he could lead Michigan State to another Final Four. Asked what his best night -- at least so far -- in a Spartan uniform means to him, Payne said, "Leaving a legacy." "I talked to Coach about that," he said. "The other day, I sent him a text and were just trying to win games. We are here to win the weekend and thats the main goal." Michigan States next game is Saturday against 12th-seeded Harvard, which beat Cincinnati 61-57 in an earlier East region contest. Though his entire performance was sublime, it was never better than during a 105-second stretch midway through the first half. Payne scored 12 straight points to help the Spartans (27-8) open an 18-point lead over the 13th-seeded Blue Hens (25-10). Those points came three at a time -- a trio of spot-up 3s and one ridiculous, spinning left-hander from the paint while he was being mugged by Carl Baptiste. Payne stepped to the line to make the free throw with his right handd -- the hand he shoots most of his shots with -- and by then, he had pretty much proven his point. Zach Fulton Chiefs Jersey. "He made the right decision to stay," Izzo said. "Hes a much more cerebral player, hes a much stronger player. He is starting to marry the inside-outside game. And if he does that on a consistent basis, I see him as one of the best 4 men in the whole country." With the game out of reach -- but Izzo less than satisfied with what he called an uneven effort -- Payne played almost to the end and the Spartans fed him. He dunked with 4:26 left to reach his career high and break Kelsers record. Points Nos. 40 and 41 came on free throws; the second one gave him the record for most makes in an NCAA tournament game without a miss. The previous holders are a couple of unforgettable names: Bill Bradley (1963, Princeton) and Fennis Dembo (1987, Wyoming). "When youre scoring like that and your games coming so easy to you, and you make a lot of shots, it feels like youre in a rhythm," Payne said. "It feels like you cant be stopped." For the brief moments Delaware did stop him, others stepped up. Travis Trice scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half to prevent the Colonial Athletic Association champs from turning this into a game. Branden Dawson, the Big Ten tournaments most valuable player, finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists -- modest on this day. It was that run through the Big Ten that turned Michigan State into a trendy pick in brackets across the country. President Barack Obama has the Spartans winning it all, and Las Vegas has them favoured along with Florida and Louisville. Devon Saddler had 21 points and Davon Usher added 20 for Delaware, which made its first NCAA appearance since 1999. Ross looked at it all with a sense of awe. He thought his team played pretty well. He still cant believe Michigan State is a No. 4 seed. "Im only reiterating what the whole country is saying," Ross said. "If the country is saying youre the odds-on favourite to win the national championship, youre not 16th best in the country." ' ' '

Emmanuel Sanders . A third-round pick of Jacksonville in the 2011 draft, Rackley started 14 games at left guard for the Jags as a rookie and opened all 11 contests he appeared in this past season. PHILADELPHIA -- AllenIverson cupped his hand to his left ear and asked to hear his favourite tune one more time. With that command, 20,000 roaring Philadelphia 76ers fans gave AI the standing ovation he earned by stamping himself as one of the franchises all-time greats. Iverson, emotional as he thanked former teammates and friends, had his No. 3 retired at halftime of Saturdays game against Washington. High above the Wells Fargo Center court, Iversons banner slipped between Maurice Cheeks No. 10 and Charles Barkleys No. 34. "They all wanted me to talk about how much yall loved me," Iverson said, "but trust me, the feeling was mutual." Iverson officially retired in October after last playing in 2010. He won four scoring titles for the Sixers and was the 2001 MVP when he led them to the NBA Finals. He never won a championship, the lone omission in a career that is destined for the Hall of Fame. The Sixers may as well have turned the arena into an AI museum. Four banners greeted fans at the main concourse entrance, and photos of him were plastered all around the arena. The merchandise stands sold Iverson jerseys for $130, and lower level tickets were going for as much for $1,280 on Stubhub about an hour before the 7:30 p.m. tipoff. The fans loved him, and he blew them kisses after the No. 3 was raised to show how much he loved them back. "I am Philly," Iverson said. "Its always going to be that way." Iversons return injected a rare dose of excitement into a franchise playing some of the worst basketball in the league. The Sixers, in full-blown rebuilding mode, had lost 12 straight entering Saturdays game. The losing didnt matter much Saturday, just the memories. The Sixers wore special "Iverson Forever" patches on their jerseys and Iversons 3 on their pregame warmup shirts. "Its a great example of how this city responds to somebody that they clearly think the world of and brought such exciting times to the city of Philadelphia," Sixers coach Brett Brown said. The Sixers retirement gift was a boat named in honour of his nickname, "The Answer." "It feels good," Iverson said after the ceremony, "but some part of my heart hurts because I know its over." Iverson joined Cheeks, Barkley, Wilt Chamberlain and Julius Erving among the eight retired numbers in franchise history. Erving attended thhe ceremony. Duke Ihenacho. Moses Malone, DikembeMutombo, TheoRatliff, GaryPayton and former team president Pat Croce also were at the celebration. Former coach Larry Brown, who both clashed with and loved Iverson over their tenure, sent a videotaped message. "I just want to tell you, and I say this fondly: God put me there to coach you," Brown said. Iverson said Brown was the player who moulded him into one of the NBAs best. "I always had raw talent," he said. "I needed Larry Brown to polish it up." Iverson was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft and spent his first 10 seasons in Philadelphia. He also played for Denver, Detroit, and Memphis before returning to Philadelphia for a 25-game stint in 2009-10. Iverson, who mashed hip-hop culture and hoops like no player before him, was perhaps at his peak in his fifth NBA season. The 165-pound guard averaged 31.1 points, was the MVP of the All-Star game and propped an entire franchise on his 6-foot frame all the way to the finals. Led by Brown, the Sixers needed Game 7 wins in consecutive series for the right to play the Lakers. ShaquilleONeal, KobeBryant and the Lakers swept their way through the post-season before Game 1 in Los Angeles. Iverson had 48 points in 52 minutes of an overtime victory. The Sixers didnt have enough to go the distance and the Lakers won the next four games. Hes 21st on the NBAs career scoring list with 24,368 points over 914 career games. Iverson, drafted out of Georgetown, scored 30-plus points 345 times and was an 11-time All-Star. His No. 3 jersey was a bestseller around the globe, the headband wrapped snugly around his cornrows, and the tattoos were as much a part of his image as the way he ricochets around the court. Play every game like it was his last was more than a catchphrase, it was a lifestyle. "Who could not be an AllenIverson fan?" said ThaddeusYoung, the lone current Sixers player who played with Iverson. "It got no bigger than him in Philadelphia." NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was at the game for AIs night. "Allen was a special player," Silver said before the game. "The great things he did for the league far outweigh the occasional headache. I always thought even at the time of AllenIversons prominence in the league, he was representative of his generation." ' ' '

With Andy Fantuz joining the NFLs Chicago Bears and Rob Bagg likely out for the season, receiver Chris Getzlaf will be expected to take on an even bigger role in the Canadian Air Force. Breakout Canadians: Versatile Shomari Williams didnt disappoint after being the first overall pick in last years draft, lining up at both linebacker and defensive end in various personnel packages. Also, look for the role of the fullback to change as Neal Hughes takes over for the retired Chris Szarka. Other Potential Canadian Starters: DT Keith Shologan, DE Luc Mullinder, OT Alex Gauthier, OG Chris Best, OL George Hudson, SB Jason Clermont, SB Jordan Sisco Canadian To Watch: Before having his career somewhat sidetracked by injuries, receiver Obed Ctoute showed tremendous potential. Like Getzlaf, Clermont, and Sisco, he could have an opportunity to shine in the absence of Fantuz and Bagg. Top Canadian Rookies: Look for defensive back Craig Butler and kicker Christopher Milo to make their presence felt on special teams. Milo will get a long look as Luca Congi continues to recover from last seasons leg injury. In The Pipeline: The only prospect for whom the Riders are waiting is 2011 second round pick Matt ODonnell. Norwich edged to a nervy win to ease the pressure on manager Chris Hughton following seven league defeats. Gary Hoopers goal after 30 minutes proved enough to give the Canaries a much-needed victory. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Too bad all those Patriots fans who left Gillette Stadium in disgust when their team was down didnt wait a minute. Because thats all TomBrady needed. Fans left in a half-empty stadium roared when the two-time NFL MVP threw the winning touchdown pass with 5 seconds left. They beat the traffic while the Patriots were beating the Saints, 30-27. Coming off one of his worst games, Brady threw the decisive 17-yard pass to rookie free agent KenbrellThompkins, knocking New Orleans from the unbeaten ranks Sunday. "Guys made big-time catches," Brady said. "It was just a great game." Slowly but steadily, new pass catchers have made their mark after the Patriots lost their top five receivers from last seasons highest-scoring NFL team. Now hes throwing to Thompkins, AaronDobson, DannyAmendola and AustinCollie. "I have confidence in those guys," Brady said. "Were certainly not perfect out there. Were definitely just grinding." Many fans had abandoned hope and left Gillette Stadium by the time the Patriots it out. But at Fenway Park, some 30 miles away, a big cheer went up at Game 2 of the AL championship series between the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers when Thompkins jumped for the winning pass. "Coach Bill said that it might come down to the final seconds," Thompkins said. "You had to stick with the system. We just had to go out there and fight to the finish." The Saints (5-1) had taken a 24-23 lead with 3:29 remaining on DrewBrees 34-yard touchdown pass to KennyStills and the extra point, but couldnt put away New England. The Patriots (5-1) survived an interception by KeenanLewis on their first snap after GarrettHartleys 39-yard field goal made it 27-23. Brady started the winning 70-yard drive, with no timeouts, with completions of 23 yards to JulianEdelman, 15 to Collie and 6 to Dobson for a first down at the Saints 26. But he threw two incompletions before connecting with Collie for a 9-yard gain on fourth down and a first down at the 17. He spiked the ball to stop the clock, then sent his receivers deep. "We had everybody going to the end zone and (Thompkins) kind of snuck into the corner and I put it up there for him and he came down and made a great catch," Brady said. Thompkins outfought cornerback JabariGreer in the left side of the end zone. "Thats something that youll replay in your mind for a long time," Greer said. "We fought hard, were resilient, and it happens like that. For it to happen to me, Ill just have to bear the burden for this week." The Patriotts were headed for their second straight loss one week after the Cincinnati Bengals beat them 13-6.http://www.packersstore.us.com/87-nike-limited-jordy-nelson-mens-jersey-nfl-green-bay-packers-drift-fashion-green.html. Bradys streak of 52 regular-season games with at least one touchdown pass ended in that defeat; Brees holds the NFL record with 54. Brady completed 25 of 43 passes for 269 yards with one touchdown and one interception. It was the 38th time hed led the Patriots to victory after trailing or being tied in the fourth quarter. One week earlier, he was just 18 for 38 for 197 yards and a passer rating of 52.2 New England continued the strong defence its played all year by holding star tight end JimmyGraham without a catch for the first time in 46 games, dating back to the middle of his rookie season in 2010. He limped off the field after KyleArrington intercepted a pass intended for him, but returned. "The one thing they do a good job with is they disrupt you at the line of scrimmage really better than anyone," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "They do a really good job of getting hands on receivers and tight ends." Add Brees: "This ones difficult because you certainly felt like you had a chance. Breed completed 17 of 36 passes for 236 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. StevanRidley ran for two touchdowns for a 17-7 halftime lead. In the first half, the Patriots controlled the ball against New Orleans, which entered the game leading the NFL in time of possession. The Patriots scored on drives of 80, 66 and 60 yards one week after having just one drive of more than 35 yards in Cincinnati. The Saints tied it by scoring on their first two possessions of the second half: a 28-yard field goal by Hartley and a 3-yard run by KhiryRobinson. New England took a 3-0 lead on StephenGostkowskis 35-yard field goal on the first series of the game. New Orleans took its first lead on Brees 3-yard pass to TravarisCadet, the first run or reception of the season by the running back. Then Ridley scored twice in a span of six minutes in the second quarter on runs of 1 and 4 yards. On the second touchdown drive, Brady completed his last six passes for 64 yards. But he saved his best for last. "What more can you ask out of your leader?" Ridley said. "He put the team on his back and went out there and made the plays we needed to make." NOTESD: Collie, signed before the Bengals game, made his first two catches for the Patriots on the final drive. ... The Saints held the ball for 28:09, more than six minutes less than their season average. ... Patriots CB AqibTalib, who helped shut down Graham, didnt return after hurting his hip in the third quarter. ' ' '

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Even Oscar Robertson wanted to see more of the Sean Kilpatrick show. Dee Milliner . The Hall of Famer sat courtside and watched the senior guard score 26 points and get a team-high 12 rebounds on Thursday night, rallying No. 7 Cincinnati to a 63-58 victory over No. 22 Connecticut. The Bearcats (22-2, 11-0 American Athletic) got their 15th straight win with Kilpatrick finishing it off at the free throw line in the closing seconds. During a late timeout, Robertson raised his hand in a shooting motion toward Kilpatrick, who knew what he meant. Kilpatricks response? A "take-it-easy" motion. "He kept giving me the signal to shoot," Kilpatrick said. "I told him to relax." The Bearcats trailed for most of the game, their first with a No. 7 ranking that is their highest in 10 years. A crowd of 12,432 -- their biggest of the season -- watched them win. Cincinnati has won 18 straight at home, including all 16 this season. The Bearcats are off to their best start in 12 years. "Thats what weve been hoping for," forward Titus Rubles said. "Its good to see the city excited for Cincinnati basketball again. We definitely enjoyed the crowd today. It was a big factor in helping us with our energy." Justin Jackson had six of his 15 points and blocked a shot during a 13-4 run that rallied Cincinnati midway through the second half. Jermaine Sanders two free throws with 18.5 seconds left gave Cincinnati a 61-58 lead. UConns Niels Giffey missed a three-point attempt, and Kilpatrick got the rebound, was fouled and made both free throws. "The mark of great players is that they rise to the occasion," Bearcats coach Mick Cronin said. "He has the ability to rise to the occasion." Shabazz Napier scored 16 points for the Huskies (17-5, 5-4) who were playing their highest-ranked opponent this season. They are 2-2 against Top 25 teams, with wins over Florida and Memphis and losses to Louisville and Cincinnati. Two hours before tip-off, Cincinnati introduced Mike Bohn as its next athletic director. His top priority: Get the Bearcats into a better conference. Cincinnati and Connecticut tried to move to the Atlantic Coast Conference, but were rebuffed. Instead, Louisville will move from the American Athletic into the ACC next season. The game matched two of the AACs top guards. Kilpatrick leads the league at 19.4 points per game, while Napier averages 17.9 points and 6.0 rebounds. Shabazz got the better of it early. Kilpatrick, who played all 40 minutes, rallied the Bearcats at the end. "Justin Jackson and Kilpatrick took over the game," UConn coach Kevin Ollie said. "It was a heck of a performance by (Kilpatrick). We couldnt get him out of the game. They just took it to us in the second half." Napier went only 2 of 12 beyond the arc and missed a three-point attempt that could have put the Huskies ahead with 30 seconds to go. Connecticut led for all but 40 seconds in the first half with its guards darting through Cincinnatis defence for layups and assists. Ryan Boatright scored six consecutive points as UConn pulled ahead 21-15. He fell hard on his left shoulder while going for the ball and left the game grimacing. He returned a few minutes later and scored only three points the rest of the game. Napier made a driving bank shot high off the backboard, then drove under the basket and passed outside to Giffey for a wide-open three-pointer that built UConns lead to 26-18. Anotherthree by Giffey gave the Huskies a 10-point lead. The Huskies made four of their first six shots in the second half to hold the lead. Omar Calhouns baseline jumper put the Huskies ahead 42-34. Jackson then led the Bearcats on the 13-4 run. He emphatically blocked a shot to set up a fast break that culminated in Kilpatricks dunk. Jackson picked up a loose ball on the Bearcats next possession and dunked, then followed with a driving bank shot for a 47-46 lead with 7:34 left. Kilpatrick hit anotherthree that started a six-point spurt and gave Cincinnati its biggest lead, 53-49. The Bearcats stayed ahead the rest of the way. Wayne Chrebet .com) - Fourth-seeded Chinese star Li Na and No. Ryan Quigley . The 29-year-old German, the 2011 overall World Cup champion, says she has decided "to end my career now.LOS ANGELES -- The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings walked between the palm trees into the Dodger Stadium outfield, a beach volleyball court on their right and a Kiss performance stage to their left. A surprisingly good ice rink was straight ahead, glistening in the Hollywood night. "We felt like rock stars," Anaheim defenceman BenLovejoy said. "That was by far the coolest feeling Ive ever had playing hockey." After all the spectacle and sensation of the NHLs first warm-weather outdoor game, JonasHiller and the Ducks demonstrated whos on top of this rivalry -- with or without a roof. CoreyPerry and MattBeleskey scored first-period goals, and the Ducks beat the Kings 3-0 at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night. Hiller made 36 saves in his 20th career shutout as the league-leading Ducks dominated the landmark meeting of Southern Californias two hockey teams under the stars in Chavez Ravine. AndrewCogliano added an empty-net goal with 1:29 left to close this unusual chapter in the NHLs expanded slate of outdoor games. "Its a little different playing out here, but its nothing that threw us off," Hiller said. The league threw a California carnival for the event: People in shorts and tank tops played Frisbee and practiced yoga between periods while skateboarders rolled past a ball hockey court featuring youth teams. Although the temperature was 63 degrees with significant humidity when WayneGretzky dropped the first puck, the ice held up fairly well in the night air. The Ducks had no problems adjusting to the new sightlines and backgrounds while shutting out the Kings. "It was maybe a little slower than some rinks, but it was smooth," Anaheims TeemuSelanne said. "Were used to not-good ice out (West) anyway. The whole package was incredible. You dont have that many chances to play in front of 55,000 people. This was pretty high on my bucket list." The Ducks earned their 21st victory in 24 games, beating Los Angeles for the second time in three days. The Kings lost their fifth straight game. The Kings hosted the first official outdoor game west of the Rocky Mountains in recognition of the NHLs near half-century in Los Angeles and their rivalry with the Ducks, who joined the league two decades ago. And though this game bore little resemblance to the snowbound outdoor contests in northern climes, the excited fans and enthused players embraced this unorthodox version of pond hockey with gusto. "I cant see any reason we shouldnt do this more," Selanne said. "The quality of hockey was greatt. Jeff Cumberland. Im going to remember this." The teams wore specially designed jerseys for the game, with the Kings crown logo dominating their grey jerseys while the Ducks sported bright orange. After a day filled with fan events and celebrations of the cold-weather sports rich California roots, Anaheim showed whos currently in charge of this rivalry. The Ducks followed up their 2-1 victory in Thursdays rivalry meeting in Anaheim by opening a seven-point lead over Chicago atop the overall standings. JonathanQuick made 18 saves as the Kings matched their longest skid of an otherwise solid season. After getting a goal in the opening minutes of Thursdays loss, Los Angeles hasnt scored in 116 consecutive minutes against the Ducks. "As for us not scoring goals, its been a constant theme, and its getting embarrassing," Los Angeles defenceman DrewDoughty said. "So we need to pick up our socks, and everyone needs to get hungry around the net and score goals." Hiller made 20 saves and stopped AnzeKopitars penalty shot in the first period, and the Swiss netminder turned away every good scoring chance after that in his fourth shutout and 24th victory of the season. Just 2:45 in, Perry scored the first goal in Dodger Stadium history, connecting rather easily on a rebound of RyanGetzlafs shot off a faceoff. Less than six minutes later, Beleskey was alone at the side of Quicks net to score on a play set up by Selannes pass. Kopitar was awarded a penalty shot midway through the period when Lovejoy hooked him on a breakaway, but the Kings leading scorer couldnt do much with the puck, and Hiller stopped it. "The experience was fun and it was exciting, playing on a stage like this in front of all those people, but it was definitely not the outcome we wanted," Kopitar said. Cogliano had the best scoring chance of the second period, but lost the puck on a breakaway. Hiller was outstanding after struggling in his last start against Winnipeg, and Cogliano wrapped up the win in the closing seconds with his 17th goal. NOTES: The crowd was announced at 54,099 -- a number that likely made Gretzky smile. ... Despite significant public interest, the game didnt sell out until early Saturday. The NHL overpriced many tickets when they first went on sale, forcing price reductions and refunds in the sections that werent selling. ... Perry joined Cristiano Ronaldo as the first players to score a goal in their respective sports at Dodger Stadium. Last August, Ronaldo scored Real Madrids first goal against Everton in the stadiums first soccer game. ' ' '

MONTREAL -- Geroy Simon is the CFLs all-time receptions king. Adam Joseph Duhe Dolphins Jersey . But the Saskatchewan Roughriders slotback was in no mood to celebrate after his team lost a fourth game in a row on Sunday. Simon made the 1,018th catch of his 15-year career when he hauled in a seven-yard pass from Darian Durant nearly 10 minutes into the first quarter of the Roughriders 17-12 loss to the Montreal Alouettes. "Its tough to put it into words after a fourth loss in a row," a dejected Simon said. "It means a lot, but it will mean a lot more in a while. "Im not about individual accolades. Im about winning and right now were not doing a good job." The 38-year-old had three catches on the day to give him 1,020. Simon set the historic mark in the same place, Percival Molson Stadium, where the man whose record he broke made many of his grabs -- former Alouette Ben Cahoon. Cahoon, who played 13 seasons, all with Montreal, set the record when he passed Terry Vaughns 1,006 receptions on Oct. 11, 2010, and added 11 more in the regular season. He retired after winning the Grey Cup that season. Simon did not celebrate on the field. His catch was short of a first down. He just went to the bench and sat down, to polite applause from the crowd of 24,106. "Congratulations to Geroy Simon: a superb talent, valued teammate, consummate professional and now, one of the all-time greats," said CFL commissioner Mark Cohon in a statement. The veteran receiver will be honoured in a special pre-game ceremony at the next Roughriders home game on Oct. 12. It was Simons preference not to have an in-game ceremony. A scoreboard message was played from Cahoon congratulating Simon. "It represents tens of thousands of frequent flyer miles and hundreds of dollars buying all those quarterbacks dinner so theyll get you ball," said Cahoon. "Congratulations Geroy, you earned every one of those balls." Simon appreciated the gesture from the Alouettes and Cahoon, but wanted to focus on winning the game. "Ive been friends with Ben for a long time, before we ever got to this league," said Simon. "Hes a first class guy. "I didnt want them to stop the game or anything like that. I just wanted to play good football. Ben sent me a message last night and I appreciate that. Hes been a great player in this league." Simon broke in with Winnipeg in 1999, but rose to stardom after joining the B.C. Lions in 2001. The Johnstown, Pa., native moved to Saskatchewan this season. Last season, he became the CFLs all-time leader in reception yards. His 47 yards Sunday gave him 16,188 in his career. Philip Wheeler Dolphins Jersey . Porter let it fly to beat the shot clock -- and it went in for his first NBA 3-pointer. "My thought was like, Man, if you make that type of shot, then here goes the fourth quarter," Prince said. The Grizzlies led by as many as 19 in the final period, but the Wizards made six 3s over those final 12 minutes. Charles Clay Dolphins Jersey ., won his fourth gold medal of the season with a 500 metres victory at an ISU World Cup short-track speedskating event on Sunday. It appears Quick was pretty happy with his work, heres himm after watching the replay. Same for his dazzling puck-handling skills and the vision that sees the plays before they happen.EUGENE, Ore. -- Marcus Mariota is more concerned about his Oregon teammates than he is about his knee. "They would have to pull me off the field before I wouldnt play," the sophomore quarterback said after throwing for 288 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-21 victory over Utah on Saturday. Questions remain about the health of Mariotas left knee, which limited his mobility last week when the sixth-ranked Ducks fell 26-20 to Stanford. Oregon does not discuss injuries, so its something of a mystery. Known for his scrambling ability, Mariota wore a knee brace against both the Cardinal and the Utes and finished both games with negative yardage on the ground. Utah sacked him three times, but any shortcomings didnt matter in the end against the Utes. Even with the threat of making the injury worse, Mariota says hes still playing for his team. It was important to him that the Ducks rebound decisively from the loss to Stanford -- which in all likelihood ended Oregons shot at a spot in the national championship game. "The guys in the locker room mean the world to me," he said. And as for the knee? "Ive learned to play with it. Im not going to use it as an excuse," he said. DeAnthony Thomas caught a touchdown pass and scored on an 86-yard kickoff return for the Ducks (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12). Byron Marshall ran for two additional scores but the Ducks were slowed on the ground by Utahs defence, rushing for 145 yards after averaging nearly 302 yards a game this season. Utah (4-6, 1-6) was dealt a blow before the game when starting quarterback Travis Wilson didnt make the trip to Eugene because of a concussion. Backup Adam Schulz threw for 157 yards and a touchdown and ran for another. After the game, Utes coach Kyle Whittingham suggested that more is going on with Wilson but he would not give details. Utah did not announce until Friday night that Wilson was not travelling with the team. "Ill expound on that Monday when I know more information. This has been an ongoing thing throughout the week. What I can say is its a head injury. He was not able to practice at all last week. Part of it was something that happened in the game last week, but theres more than that going on right now. Rather than say something that is not completely accurate, Im going to wait until Monday and talk a little more about it that week," Whittingham said. Wilson is averaging 203 yardss passing per game this season. Packers Davante Adams Lights Out Jersey. The 6-foot-7 sophomore thrown 16 touchdowns with 16 interceptions. Schulz had appeared in just three games for the Utes this season, completing 22 of 45 passes with one touchdown and one interception. "Ive been looking for an opportunity since Ive been here. I always talk about seizing the opportunity and there is no bigger stage really than Oregon at their place. I was ready to go," Schulz said. Utahs lone conference win this season came against Stanford. The Utes have lost four straight since then. Mariota hit Thomas with an 8-yard touchdown pass and the Ducks added a 31-yard field goal by true freshman Matt Wogan to make it 10-0 in the first quarter. Wogan took over as Oregons kicker for the final three games of the season, replacing Alejandro Maldonado, who missed a 37-yard field goal before halftime of the Ducks game against UCLA. The Utes narrowed the gap on Schulzs 34-yard pass to Jake Murphy with 2:52 left in the half. Murphy was making his return after wrist surgery following the Utes Oct. 3 loss to UCLA. It was thought that the junior tight end might miss the rest of the regular season. The Ducks answered the Utes quickly by scoring on Mariotas 5-yard pass to Josh Huff -- concluding a drive that took three plays and just 24 seconds -- to make it 17-7 at the half. After a 4-yard scoring run from Schulz, Oregon again quickly came back with Thomas touchdown on the kickoff return to make it 23-14. Thomas, who missed nearly four entire games with an ankle injury, looked like his old self on the run. "Im getting back to where I was: Just out there, having fun, contributing to the team," he said. The Ducks extended the lead on Mariotas 14-yard scoring pass to Johnny Mundt, and Marshalls 17-yard scoring run made it 37-14 with 32 seconds left in the third quarter. Marshall added a 16-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Soon thereafter, Oregon sat Mariota. With most of the Ducks starters out of the game, Bubba Poole ran for a 10-yard Utah touchdown with 6:01 left. Still a Heisman candidate despite the questions about his knee, Mariota has thrown for 25 touchdowns this season, and run for nine more. He has not thrown an interception since last season. Saturdays game was the first between the teams since Utah joined the conference in 2011. Oregon won the last meeting 31-24 at Autzen Stadium in 2009. ' ' '

OAKLAND, Calif. http://www.saintsstore.us.com/Black-54-Khairi-Fortt-Womens-Jersey/ . -- After a winter of rebuilding, the Oakland Athletics were the surprise winner for Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes. Cespedes and the As have agreed to a US$36-million, four-year contract -- quite a splash for the low-budget franchise that traded away several key faces this off-season. Agent Adam Katz confirmed Monday the slugging outfielder had reached agreement on a deal, with details still to be finalized. This is a significant move for Oakland, which wanted to add a steady hitter. Cespedes will earn $6.5 million this year, $8.5 million in 2013 and $10.5 million in each of the final two seasons. He can become a free agent at the end of the contract, which is the highest for a Cuban defector. Cespedes deal tops JoseContreras $32-million, four-year contract with the Yankees before the 2003 season. The As expect Cespedes to secure his P1 visa in the next couple of weeks, travel to the teams Arizona spring training site to take his physical and be ready to start training shortly thereafter. The team also still has interest in slugger MannyRamirez. The As, hoping to be given clearance from Major League Baseball to relocate to San Jose and construct a new ballpark, have been in rebuilding mode this off-season. Oakland traded starting pitchers GioGonzalez and TrevorCahill and also all-star closer AndrewBailey. Cespedes toured the Miami Marlins new downtown ballpark last Wednesday, and appeared to have other suitors, as well. In a surprising move, it was the As who made a splash and outbid some big-spending clubs. "You dont land everybody you want to land. But I think weve been aggressive," Marlins president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest said. "Were really happy with the way the club looks. You always have a sense of disappointment when youre trying to either trade for or sign a player. Its not the first time and wont be the last. We would certainly wish him well." Cespedes played for Cuba in the 2009 World Baseball Classic and is projected to be ready for the majors. Cespedes said six teams were interested in signing him: the Marlins, Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland and the Chicago Cubs and White Sox. Major League Baseball said Monday it has been told by Cespedes agent that he has obtained an unblocking license from the U.S. Treasury Departments Office of Foreign Assets Control -- another key step to him signing. In January, Cespedes representatives announced he had established legal residency in the Dominican Republic, the final hurdle to him becoming a free agent. MLB then had to receive proof of residency before clubs were notified of his status as a free agent. Yahoo! Sports first reported the agreement. ------ AP Sports Writer Steven Wine in Miami contributed to this report. All four goalkeepers stood tall during periods of the match that their teams struggled in. They were calm and ready when needed. On Sunday, with night falling on another weekend in the Premier League, the opposite happened when Manchester Citys Joe Hart rushed out of his goal, in the final minute of a 1-1 game at Chelsea, compromising defender Matija Nastasics options, and allowing Fernando Torres to score a dramatic late winner. It was another poor moment in a poor season for Hart. Many immediately took to twitter to question the position of Englands number one but the real question should be around whether he is now Manchester Citys number one. England do not play another game of significant importance for over seven months. Man City have less than seven days until their next league game. City are a magnificent football team that, in large parts of this season so far, have shown strong glimpses of the greatness they could achieve. Their fullbacks are disciplined but dangerous in attack, Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas have adapted well to their new surroundings, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Sergio Aguero are back to the world class standard they once played at earlier last season, and even Samir Nasri and Alex Kolarov are improving by each game. They are primed to take a serious run at the Premier League title. In order to do that, however, they need to solve two significant issues. Vincent Kompany is virtually irreplaceable at the heart of their defence and there is nothing wrong with that, after all he is one of the worlds finest defenders. However, any replacement they have inserted when he has been injured has so far let them down. Martin Demicheles was guilty of conceding the first goal to Chelsea on Sunday, much like Javi Garcia was in Russia on Wednesday. With this problem, there are, of course, expected solutions. Demicheles is a defender manager Manuel Pellegrini knows well and is likely to get better with more games under his belt and it is hopeful Kompany - who has missed 13 of their last 23 Premier League games since - will get fit soon. What arent predictable at all are the form and the mental state of the clubs goalkeeper. Earlier this season at Cardiff, City were in control of the match 1-0 but lost 3-2 after Hart was guilty of two poor errors, and against Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this month, he once again let in soft goals, which led to his manager considering dropping him for their next match against Everton. "He feels like he didnt do well against Bayern, I spoke a lot about this to him this week," said Pellegrini. "He is mentally strong and after talking to him, I decided he had the character to play (against Everton), it was a decision I made on Friday (the day before)." Following the loss to Bayern, Pellegrini obviously gave the prospect of dropping Hart a lot of thought. Hart, as his manager suggests, comes across as a confident man but even he will be rocked by his latest error. Costel Pantilimon is Harts backup but hasnt played a single Premier League minute since arriving at City in 2011. He is no long-term replacement, that is for sure. What he is, however, is the League Cup goalkeeper and City playNewcastle in that competition on Wednesday. Saints Jairus Byrd White Jersey. What he could also be is a band-aid to stop the bleeding from a wound that is sucking the life out of an otherwise lively and legitimate title contender. The game is full of goalkeepers who benefited from moments such as this when a supposed superior goalkeeper struggled and the Romanian deserves his chance. On an outstanding team like City, the goalkeeper is rarely there to win them matches. At the moment, their current one is, far too often, losing them matches and on Sunday, handed two precious points to one of their main challengers in the league. The idea of goalkeepers winning matches used to be equally rare across Manchester, for rivals United. Until this season. Three weeks ago, United were trailing 1-0 at Sunderland when Emanuele Giaccherinis powerful header look set for the top corner to put the home side up 2-0. Spaniard De Gea reacted brilliantly, leaping to his right to fingertip the ball away. It was a magnificent save and one that prompted Uniteds legend Peter Schmeichel to call it one of the best Ive seen. Two second half Adnan Januzaj goals gave United a much-needed three points. On Saturday against Stoke, United again started slowly and found themselves down 1-0. Much like Sunderland, it should have been 2-0 when Jon Walters got into the box and volleyed the ball towards goal, only for De Gea to react brilliantly once again to keep him out. United would go on to win 3-2. "We needed our goalkeeper to make an extraordinary save again in the first half but thats what hes in the team for," stated manager David Moyes. Through nine games this season, almost a quarter of the campaign, De Gea has been Uniteds most important player. United were booed off at half-time and cheered off at full-time at Old Trafford but it is when the crowd, and the team, are not at their finest that De Gea needs to be. (photo: fourfourtwo.com - Click For Larger Image) In their last three home matches, United have allowed much more shots and attacks than they did against the same teams last season. Against West Brom, they lost 2-1 but De Gea produced a brilliant stop with his feet to deny Saido Berahino and an ever better save, finger-tipping Morgan Amalfitanos effort heading for the top corner. (photo: fourfourtwo.com - Click For Larger Image) Hosting Southampton, they drew 1-1 but it could have been worse, De Gea standing tall to deny Danny Osvaldo on a one-on-one breakaway that the inconsistent defence in front of him allowed. (photo: fourfourtwo.com - Click For Larger Image) Being goalkeeper of Manchester United is not easy. Schmeichel was absolutely brilliant at it and the dozen goalkeepers between the Dane and Edwin van der Sar were abysmal. When De Gea replaced the Dutchman at 20 years-old, many were quick to turn on him. Evaluating goalkeepers is not easy. There is no specific statistic that tells you the complete story, while analysts in England preferred highlight shows, such as the iconic Match of the Day, which is never a true test of a goalkeepers worth. For example, last season at home to Fulham, De Geas spill led to an early goal by the visitors and, subsequently, more criticism that night on television but for the rest of the match, he was spectacular. Uniteds disjointed midfield and frequent poor defending this season has pushed De Gea back into the spotlight and this time, he has done nothing but shine. Hart may be keeping City from the top of the table in Manchester but De Gea is the only reason United fans still think that is a possibility for them this season. ' ' '

TORONTO - MarkBuehrle eyes up a historic win Friday night when the Toronto Blue Jays welcome the Boston Red Sox to town for the opener of a three-game set between American League East rivals. http://www.nfljetsus.com/Elite-Joe-Klecko-Womens-Jersey-New-York-Jets-73-Home-Green-Nike-NFL-31.html . Buehrle enters with a major league-best 0.64 ERA through four starts. He looks to become the first pitcher in the majors to reach five wins as well as the first Blue Jays pitcher ever to begin a season with five straight victories. "Hes just locked in right now," manager JayGibbons said. "He even admitted in spring training he hadnt felt this good in a long time. But he competes, hes a great competitor. "One thing about Buehrle is he pitches to win, he doesnt pitch for stats. You get guys in this game who pitch for stats. He pitches to win, and you need more guys like that." In his last start, Buehrle gave up just four hits in seven-plus shutout innings of a 5-0 win at Cleveland. Toronto will try to avoid its first three-game slide of the season after falling at home to Baltimore on Thursday, 11-4. While things have gone well so far this season for Buehrle, Bostons JakePeavy is still in search of his first win. This marks the fifth time through the rotation for the right-hander. He had given up a total of just four earned runs over his first three starts before getting tagged for five runs on a season-high 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings against Baltimore his last time out. However, Peavy has a 2.29 ERA over his last five starts against Toronto. Boston has lost three of its last four after Thursdays lopsided 14-5 setback to the division-leading Yankees. "Every team goes through slumps hitting, goes through slumps defensively," shortstop XanderBogaerts said. "Its part of the game. Were definitely going to get better." On the injury front, outfielder ShaneVictorino was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Thursday after missing the first 22 games of the season with a strained right hamstring. He played right field and batted second in Thursdays game and went 1-for-5 with a double. "This is something we have been waiting for. Shanes return will help solidify our outfield defense and also the top of the order," manager John Farrell said. "It is good to have him back in the lineup. Bruce Arthur, National Post: BC Lions- Since Labour Day theyve been the best team in this league by a mile and I dont think this game will be particularly close.DENVER - Its been four years since the Raptors had a representative in the All-Star Game. DeMarDeRozan, a 20-year-old rookie at the time, remembers it well. "I was here when ChrisBosh was the last guy to go," said DeRozan, now 24 in his fifth NBA season, less than two hours after receiving the news. A first-time All-Star, DeRozan got the nod Thursday evening when the NBA named the Raptors guard to the Eastern Conference squad as a reserve. "I work extremely hard every off-season to try and be the best player that I can be," he said proudly. "Just to be a part of All-Star Weekend is something you dream of. I remember being a kid watching All-Star Weekend and wishing to be a part of it. To see your dreams come true definitely means a lot." DeRozan, the fourth ever Raptor selected to the midseason showcase, which will take place in New Orleans on Feb. 16, was hardly surprised to find out his selection had been made official. He had expected it. The texts from family and friends started to come in as the Raptors plane landed in Denver, shortly after the announcement had been made live on TNT. Houston Rockets All-Star guard JamesHarden called to congratulate him, JohnWall of the Washington Wizards, also an Eastern reserve, sent a text. The first call he made was to his fianc and his infant daughter back in Toronto. "That was cool," he said of what had to be a special moment. Its a moment, an achievement that didnt come overnight. Hes put in the work and his growth as a player, a leader and as a man reflects that. "Hes worked at it [and] he deserves it," said Dwane Casey, who has coached DeRozan in three of his five seasons. "Every year Ive been here he has improved. He has brought something new back after every summer. Im so happy and proud of him as a young man watching him grow." DeRozan, the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, is 11th in the league in scoring, fourth in the East, and averaging career highs in points (21.8), rebounds (4.7) and assists (3.6). The Raptors iron man has missed the clubs previous two games with an ankle injury, but hes still only missed 10 contests in his career, with two full seasons under his belt. Since the trade of RudyGay, DeRozan has blossomed in his new role. DeRozan has recorded five or more assists in 12 of the 43 contests hes appeared in this season. He accomplished that feat 12 times all of last year and five times total in his first three seasons combined. He has already grabbed five or more rebounds 23 times this season, something he did in 19 games during the 2012-13 campaign. "Im so happy for him, man," said snubbed teammate KyleLowry. "It just shows the hard work that hes put in. Its great for our team, its great for the organization, its great for the city, its great for the country." Of course, the news wasnt entirely positive. Lowry, in the middle of a career season, was left off the All-Star rostter. Eric Decker White Jersey. The 27-year-old point guard - widely considered to be the most notable name missing from the East team - stood in the lobby of the Raptors Denver hotel, looking ahead to his mid-Febrary vacation. He too was not surprised by the result of the voting and if he was disappointed by it, he didnt show it. "Im alright," said Lowry, averaging career-highs in points (16.8), assists (7.6) and three-point shooting (41 per cent) this season. "Ill be on a beach somewhere hanging out. Ill watch the All-Star game and cheer for (DeRozan)." Lowry is coming off of back-to-back 30-plus point games for the first time in his eight-year career, however both performances came after the coaches submitted their ballots for All-Star reserves on Sunday. Casey has spent the better part of the last month campaigning for both of his guards, hoping to get both voted in, but expecting to only get the one. Why was Lowry left out? Politics, most likely. He and DeRozan may have split votes from coaches who were only willing to vote for one Raptor. Coaches trying to get their own guy in - unable to vote for their own players, by rule - may have thrown their votes to others, less likely to make it. Then theres Lowrys reputation for being, well, prickly on occasion. However, the numbers speak for themselves, or at least they should have. Lowry leads the East in assists in January, averaging 8.3. Hes also hit more threes this month (49) than any player in the league, shooting them at a 46 per cent clip. Hes among the league-best in assist-to-turnover ratio and he has the second highest PER (player efficiency rating) of any guard in the conference. "I am disappointed for Kyle because he is playing like an All-Star," Casey said. "He is one of the best point guards in the league right now and hopefully this doesnt deter him from his continuing his journey to being the best in the league and proving people wrong." Instead, the Nets JoeJohnson made the cut. Johnson is averaging 15.7 points, his lowest mark since 2002-03, his second season in the league. Hes only the second All-Star voted in by the coaches with a below-average PER since 2003. "Im going to keep grinding no matter what, All-Star or not," Lowry said. "Im always going to work hard and continue to be the best player I can be to help my team win." "Honestly I didnt even worry about it," he continued. "We didnt get two, doesnt matter, we got one and thats a big statement for our team. [DeRozans] going to represent our team and hes going to represent us well." DeRozan joins Johnson, ChrisBosh of the Miami Heat, Wall, the Indiana Pacers RoyHibbert, JoakimNoah of the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks PaulMillsap on the East squad, along with starters LeBronJames and DwyaneWade of the Heat, Indianas PaulGeorge, CarmeloAnthony of the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers KyrieIrving. Canadas Kevin Reynolds was hoping to use his breakthrough year on the mens figure skating circuit as a springboard for greater success during the current Olympic season. Bradley Roby Elite Jersey . Instead, equipment issues have forced him to withdraw from this weeks Grand Prix event and it remains unclear when hell be ready to make his return to the ice. Reynolds pulled out of the Cup of China because of problems with his skating boots. He has been unable to get them to fit properly this season and it has hampered his training. Not exactly an ideal situation for a potential medal contender at the Sochi Games. "When youre dealing with equipment, sometimes you get a pair of skates and theyre the same make, same model youve used for years and sometimes the fit just isnt right," Skate Canada high-performance director Mike Slipchuk said Thursday. "It just seems that he hasnt had much luck this fall with even a few backup pairs that have come in. Theyve been having a hard time finding a pair that fit like his previous ones did during the (previous) season." Reynolds used a different pair of skates last season when he had his breakout victory against a tough field at Four Continents in Japan. Those skates are too worn to be used again this season, Slipchuk said. Reynolds and coach Joanne McLeod were not available for comment. However, McLeod did discuss Reynolds equipment challenges in early September at the teams high-performance camp in Mississauga, Ont. "One of the boots that he received was twisted to the sole," she said after watching him at practice. "Sometimes boots can warp. It just didnt sit right. He toughed it out. It wasnt like he was complaining. He toughed it out and tried to make it work and I was pushing him hard with that boot. "But it just became complicated and frustrating. And you dont want to have any regrets (in an) Olympic year." McLeod said the issue could present challenges for the upcoming season although she was hopeful they would get past it. "So yes, things might be rocky -- you have to alter, you might have to cancel a couple things," she said. "But you dont want to have any regrets. You dont want to be going into an Olympic year thinking, Darn, I should have switched that boot because it haunted me for the entire season. You dont want that." In addition to his victory last season, Reynolds reached the Four Continents podium in 2010 with a third-place effort. The 23-year-old North Vancouver native was fifth at the 2013 world championships. Although Canadian teammate Patrick Chan has garnered most of the mens figure skating spotlight in recent years, Reynolds has made significant strides and could be in the mix of contenders in Sochi. In addition to the individual competition, Canada is also a medal favourite in the new team event. "The No. 1 priority now is to get into a pair of skates and get out and compete because its a big season and you dont want to be starting in January at (nationals)," Slipchuk said. "The months of January and February are going to come fast. "You need to get those programs out for not only your training, but for the judges to see and prepare for the season. Time is ticking quick. Were hoping this can all be rectified soon and he can get back out and get competing." Some skaters change their skates two or three times per season. When a new pair arrives, it can take anywhere from a day to a week or longer to work them in. Reynolds usually breaks in new skates every six months -- traditionally in early January before the nationals and then again in early July. Slipchuk said equipment choices are primarily left up to the athlete, adding it can be quite common for challenges to pop up. When they do, it can often take time to sort out. "Its not like you can just go down to the corner sporting goods store and pick up a pair," Slipchuk said. "For any elite athlete, its a very highly built and highly tuned piece of equipment and specific for what theyre doing. "Often if a skate has to be remade, it does take a little time for that to happen. The companies are good, they get the equipment out fast and hopefully theyre able to get this all rectified." Slipchuk said he was planning to get an update from Reynolds and his team by the weekend. "If you ask any skater, there is a process for breaking in new skates," McLeod said. "Its not like a car, you get into it and (drive) and everything is just amazing. Its a little bit different than that. "The boots are very hard and it takes the skaters mobility with their ankle and their leg strength to break it in in a certain way." Reynolds is scheduled to compete at the Nov. 22-24 Grand Prix event in Moscow. The national championships are set for Jan. 9-15 in Ottawa and the 2014 Sochi Olympics will be held Feb. 7-23. Steve Atwater Navy Blue Jersey . Centre Samuel Bennett of the Ontario Hockey Leagues Kingston Frontenacs leads the pack among North American skaters, with 26 goals and 66 points this season. Peyton Manning Blue Jersey . The (28-26-6) Jets are three points behind Vancouver for a Western Conference Wild Card playoff spot following the Canucks 1-0 win over St. Louis last night. Ondrej Pavelec will start in goal. BROSSARD, Que. -- MarcBergevin was a busy man on his first foray into NHL free agency as a general manager, signing three gritty players for the Montreal Canadiens. Bergevin signed rugged left-winger BrandonPrust from the New York Rangers to a US$10-million, four-year contract and inked right-winger ColbyArmstrong from the Toronto Maple Leafs to a $1-million, one-year deal. They also brought back veteran defenceman FrancisBouillon from the Nashville Predators for $1 million over one year. The Canadiens only confirmed the Prust signing, although Armstrong announced his contract himself on Twitter and Bouillon spoke about his new deals with various media. Prust said he had mixed emotions in leaving New York after three seasons but joining a team that welcomes a tough forward. The London, Ont., native said he will complement Montreals recent re-signings of physical forwards TravisMoen and RyanWhite. And he will have a coach who appreciates toughness in Michel Therrien, who returned to Montreal in May to replace Randy Cunneyworth. "I think having me there is important and will make our jobs easier moving forward," said Prust. "Thats something I got out of our conversations. They wanted to add a bit of grit. "Its good to have a little more team toughness. Other teams coming into our building will know theyre in for a long night." He will also be closer to his girlfriend, who works in television in Montreal. Prust said he spoke to Rangers coach John Tortorella on Sunday and was sad to go, but felt the offer from Montreal was better. "In the end, (the Rangers) werent close to where Montreal was," he said. "Montreal showed a lot more interest. "I felt I fit into their lineup. The team is moving in the right direction and I wanted to be part of that." A team spokesman said Bergevin was still working on deals and would not talk to the media until Monday. The club also signed free agent forward MichaelBlunden and goaltender CedrickDesjardins to one-year, two-way contracts. The Canadiens were looking to add muscle to their checking lines and an extra defenceman, and thats what they got. They are also seeking a forward for their top two lines, amid speculation they may bee interested in former Pittsburgh star JaromirJagr. Peyton Manning Alternate Jersey. The six-foot, 195-pound Prust played in all 82 games the last two seasons in New York. His production dipped from 13 goals and 29 points two years ago to five goals and 12 assists last year. The 28-year-old former London Knight, a strong penalty killer, is going into his fifth NHL season. He was drafted 70th overall in 2004 by Calgary. Both Armstrong and Bouillon have a history with Therrien, who coached Bouillon in junior hockey in Laval and Granby as well as during his first stint as Canadiens coach a decade ago. Therrien had Armstrong with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The six-foot-two, 187-pound Armstrong, a pesky, physical forward, became a free agent when the final year of his contract was bought out by the Leafs. He will actually earn $2 million next season, with half paid by Toronto. The 29-year-old broke into the NHL with the Penguins in 2005-06 and played in Atlanta before joining the Leafs two seasons ago. His time in Toronto was marked by injuries as he played only 29 games last season, picking up a goal and a two assists and was minus-8. The five-foot-eight, 201-pound Bouillon, a Montreal native, is deceptively strong and can play a physical game. The 36-year-old played his first 10 seasons with the Canadiens before moving to the Predators in 2009, appearing in 66 games last season with four goals and seven assists. The 25-year-old Blunden, acquired last July from Columbus, had two goals and two assists in 39 games for Montreal last season. He missed 20 games with a knee injury suffered Feb. 2. Desjardins, 26, spent last season with the AHL Lake Erie Monsters, going 16-11-5 with a 2.11 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. He was in the Montreal organization from 2006 to 2010 before moving to Tampa Bay, where he posted two wins in as many games. He will likely fit in behind CareyPrice and PeterBudaj in the organizations depth chart. In the days leading up to the opening of the free agent market, Bergevin signed some potential free agents, including Moen, White, depth centre PetteriNokelainen and defenceman AlexeiEmelin. He is working on new deals for a handful of restricted free agents, including Price and defenceman P.K.Subban. ' ' '

CareyPrice has taken a big step closer to returning to the Montreal Canadiens line-up. Packers Eddie Lacy Camo Jersey . Price took part in a full practice with his teammates on Friday ahead of the teams Saturday night contest against the Ottawa Senators. TSNs John Lu reported from Canadiens practice Friday that Price was getting engaged physically, participating in short ice battle drills. He was knocked down in the crease twice - first by ReneBourque, then by BrendanGallagher - who received a shot from Price afterward. Price began practice splitting a net with DustinTokarski, who was called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League in his absence. Tokarski was moved to the other goal, splitting time with PeterBudaj mid-way through Fridays practice. Coach Michel Therrien would not tip his hand as to whether he might play this weekend. He had a really good day today but from our standpoint, nothing has changed, hes still day-to-day and well see where hes at tomorrow, Coach Michel Therrien said after practice. Were really pleased about the way he was capable to practice today. His teammates were similarly impressed with their netminders compete level on Friday. "I think hes trying to push it a little more," Gallagher told Lu after practice. "He looks as quick and powerful as hes always been." P.K.Subban was also happy to see Price getting back up to speed after the injury. "Im not a doctor or anything, but I do know that its a good sign when hes in practice and hes competing like that," he told TSN after practice. The 26-year-old netminder is yet to appear in a game for the Canadiens since returning from the Sochi Olympics. He exited his first practice with the Canadiens after aggravating an injury in his right leg. He has missed the Canadiens last eight games, with the team going 3-4-1 over that stretch. His last appearance for the Canadiens was a4-1 win in the teams pre-Olympic finale against the Carolina Hurricanes on Feb. 8. Price went 5-0 with a staggering 0.59 goals-against average and a .972 save percentage with the Canadian team at Sochi. Packers Nick Perry Camo Jersey . -- Phil McRae tied the game in the third and scored again in the shootout as the Peoria Rivermen beat the Abbotsford Heat 4-3 in American Hockey League play Sunday. Packers Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Lights Out Jersey .C. -- Angus Reid has always been willing to bend over backwards -- and forwards -- for the B. DENVER -- The Colorado Avalanche signed left winger JamieMcGinn to a two-year, $5.9 milliondeal Thursday. The 25-year McGinn had 19 goals and 19 assists in 79 games last season in helping the Avalanche tie a franchise record with 52 wins. He also had three game-wwinning goals. Packers Julius Peppers Camo Jersey. Avalanche executive JoeSakic said McGinn "played an important role for our team" as they made the playoffs for the first time since 2009-10. McGinn was acquired by Colorado in a trade with San Jose on Feb. 27, 2012. ' ' '

GLENDALE, Ariz. Eric Wood Jersey . -- Between a three-day layoff and a quirk in the schedule, the San Jose Sharks were concerned about getting off to a slow start. They did, yet still found a way to pull out a road victory, something that had been hard to come by recently. PatrickMarleau scored in regulation and in the shootout, JoePavelski had a goal and an assist, and the Sharks beat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3 on Friday night. "They had a little more jump and much better execution than we did early in the game, in fact off the opening faceoff," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "But I was pleased with the way our guys stuck with it and fought through it." San Jose had to fly out Friday morning because the new NHL labour agreement requires teams to take three full days off for the holiday break. The Sharks were flat early, and the Coyotes jumped on them, creating numerous good scoring chances in the first period to go up 1-0. The Sharks found their rhythm after they fought back. In regulation, BrentBurns had a goal and an assist, and JoeThornton had two assists. Once San Jose hit the shootout, LoganCouture and Marleau scored, and AnttiNiemi stopped RadimVrbata and OliverEkman-Larsson for the Sharks second win in their past seven road games. "Its been tough for us on the road, so for us to go out and get the two points was nice," Marleau said. The Coyotes were much better in their own end than previously against the Sharks, allowing 28 shots in regulation after giving up 101 combined in a pair of games in San Jose earlier this season. Phoenix pulled out a victory in one of those first two games, but couldnt earn the extra point Friday after struggling in the shootout. DavidMoss had two goals, and Vrbata scored late in the third period to help Phoenix earn a point in its fourth straight game -- all after regulation. "The last time we got two points on San Jose, we probably didnt deserve those two points," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "Tonight, I thought that game was a toss-up. Unfortunately, we didnt get the extra point, but we put the work in to get the two points." With their early travel, the Sharks seemed a step slow in the opening period, and the Coyotes jumped on them, generating several good scoring chances. San Jose gave them an extra one midway through the period, when Sharks forward MattNieto flipped an errant pass right to Moss, who whirled around in the slot and beat Niemi. The Sharks nearly scored early in the second period when a shot by JustinBraun hit the left post, bounced off a stick and hit the right post before being cleared away. They did get one through after a Coyotes turnover. Thornton ended up with the stray puck, skated up the middle and found Pavelski, who beat Smith over the glove shoulder from the left circle. The next two goals came quickly. Phoenix answered 68 seconds after Pavelskis goal when Moss fought off Nieto and redirected a shot from DavidSchlemko past Niemi. San Jose responded on a power play two minutes after that, tying it when Marleau gathered a pass from TommyWingels and beat Smith with a wrist shot from between two defenders. The Sharks made a big push to start the third period, and Burns scored midway through, one-timing a feed from Pavelski behind the net that went through Phoenix defenceman DerekMorris legs. Phoenix again had an answer, scoring with just over 6 minutes left on a power play when MikeRibeiro sent a pass through traffic to Vrbata, who scored his 11th of the season from the left circle to tie it at 3-all. Smith made a big save on Burns after a turnover right in front in overtime, but couldnt stop Couture or Marleau in the shootout. "Theyre such a good team, those first two lines have really good players," Vrbata said. "We played much tighter defensively and didnt give them much. Obviously, (they scored) three goals, but its a good team." NOTES: Friday night was the 10th anniversary of the Coyotes first game at Jobing.com Arena -- a 3-1 loss to Nashville. ... Thornton, the NHL assists leader with 37, has five in his past two games. ... Coyotes captain ShaneDoan missed his ninth straight game because of Rocky Mountain Fever. He skated Friday morning, but no timetable has been set for his return. ... Couture has gone seven games without a point, leaving him stuck on 99 goals and 98 assists for his career. Thurman Thomas Jersey . Scott Ranger scored three times including a short-handed goal early in the third quarter that put Calgary ahead for good as the Roughnecks defeated the Colorado Mammoth 15-10 in a National Lacrosse League West Division semifinal. Jim Kelly Bills Jersey . Bruce Arthur, National Post: BC Lions- Since Labour Day theyve been the best team in this league by a mile and I dont think this game will be particularly close.ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Surging into and out of the Olympic break, the Minnesota Wild have created a significant cushion between them and their competitors for the two Western Conference wild-card playoff spots. Thats not enough. With five days before they play next, this was still a game they were worried about -- and had to win. JaredSpurgeon and ZachParise scored in the third period, and the Wild notched their season-high fifth straight victory, 3-2 over the Calgary Flames on Monday night. "You dont want to go a week without getting any points the way things are, even if you have a cushion," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. "The cushion to me is nothing ... because its not about where the people are behind you. To me its much more of a race of what you need to get to." The Wild have 75 points, nine ahead of the cut, but they are off until Saturday. Then they will launch their final stretch of 20 games in 37 days. "I dont think we were at our best. I dont think we played at a level we need to play. But it doesnt matter when you look back at the score," Parise said. KyleBrodziak also scored, rookie DarcyKuemper stopped 21 shots during his 15th start in a row, and the Wild raised their record at home to 22-7-2 while playing in front of their fans for the first time in 25 days. Captain MikkoKoivu, back from a 17-game absence due to a broken ankle, skated on the second line with DanyHeatley and CharlieCoyle, apart from Parise for the first time. Parise gave the Wild some insurance by camping in the crease and deflecting a shot past RetoBerra with 5:16 remaining for his 21st goal. Just 77 seconds later, MarkGiordano scored to bring the Flames back within a goal. But Kuemper hung on to raise his record to 11-3-2. Kuemper has played so well in place of JoshHarding and NiklasBackstrom that the Wild might not need to trade for a goalie before the deadline. "The confidence he has now, you can see that, and its just kind of the edge hes playing with thats good to see," Koivu said. "Hes playing winning hockey right now, so obviously thats a huge part of the team." MikaelGranlund had two assists while pllaying in the NHL for the first time against his brother MarkusGranlund, who was called up from the AHL last week by the Flames. Cyrus Kouandjio Jersey. After a scoreless, sluggish and penalty-free first period, the pace picked up in the middle frame. MattCooke swooped in behind the net to poke the puck away from Berra. Brodziak crept toward the crease to corral the puck and knocked it in for the games first goal. "If you make a mistake the puck ends up in the net. I feel bad for the team because they played really hard tonight and we had a great chance to win," Berra said. MikeCammalleri, playing perhaps his last game for the Flames with the NHL trade deadline looming on Wednesday, tied it 1-1 in the second period when Koivus pass ricocheted across the slot to him for an easy tap-in that Kuemper had no chance to stop. "No moral victories. We know theyre playing well, but wed like to win," Cammalleri said. With Coyle screening Berra on a power play, Spurgeon sent a slap shot through traffic for the lead. "We had to kind of grind that one out. I had a feeling this was going to be a difficult game for us right from the start," Yeo said. The Flames, buried in the Western Conference playoff race, could make some moves this week. Cammalleri scored for the first time since Jan. 6. He missed nine games during that stretch because of a concussion. "Cammi, you always know that hes going to show up to work," coach Bob Hartley said. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, as a guest of Wild owner Craig Leipold, watched from a suite. Leipold took him earlier in the day to Target Field, where baseballs Twins play, and TCF Bank Stadium, the football home of the University of Minnesota, for tours of possible outdoor game venues. The NHL put on six this season. Bettman has assured the Wild they will be awarded an outdoor game but hasnt committed to a timeframe. NOTES: Flames RW DavidJones hurt his upper body in a collision against the boards. "It doesnt look very good," Hartley said. ... Koivu missed 17 games, plus the Olympics for his native Finland, because of a broken ankle. ... MarkusGranlund posted his first NHL assist, on Giordanos goal. ' ' '

As per Haggerty, Boston GM Peter Chiarelli said after the teams playoff elimination that he asked both Iginla and Thornton to "give him a few weeks" before the front office made any decisions on their status. However, Chiarelli added after the season that the Bruins are "trending away from that (fisticuffs) style." Staying In Jersey?
