NEW YORK -- SidneyCrosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, RyanGetzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and ClaudeGiroux of the Philadelphia Flyers are the three finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy. Buster Posey Giants Jersey . The the NHL awards the trophy annually "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team." It essentially serves as the leagues MVP award. Crosby scored 36 goals and led the league in assists (68) and points (104) to capture his second career Art Ross Trophy and lead the Penguins to their second consecutive division title. He registered points in 60 of the 80 games he played in (75 per cent), including 30 multi-point performances, and never went more than two consecutive games without registering a point. Crosby also reached the 100-point milestone for the fifth time hit 700 career points in his 497th game, the fastest among active players and sixth-fastest in NHL history. The 26-year-old Cole Harbour, N.S., native is a Hart Trophy finalist for the fourth time after winning the award in 2006-07 and finishing as a runner-up in 2009-10 and 2012-13. Getzlaf scored a career-high 31 goals and ranked second in the League with 87 points to lead the Ducks to the top record in the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history. He posted a 14-game point streak from Nov. 15-Dec. 15 (six goals, 11 assists). Getzlaf also set a career high with seven game-winning goals and recorded a plus-28 defensive rating. The 28-year-old Regina native is a Hart Trophy finalist for the first time. Giroux matched a career high with 28 goals and finished third in the NHL scoring race with 86 points to help the Flyers bounce back from a 3-9-0 start to the season. After being held pointless in his first five games and not scoring a goal until his 16th, Giroux totalled 28 goals and 51 assists in his final 67 games of the season. He also compiled a career-long, nine-game point streak Dec. 11-30, (six goals, 11 assists) and recorded his 100th NHL goal Dec. 19. The 26-year-old Hearst, Ont., native is a Hart Trophy finalist for the first time. The award is voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The winner will be announced June 24 during the 2014 NHL Awards in Las Vegas. 11:44ET 01-05-14 Mel Ott Giants Jersey . Nestor and Mirnyi, the second seeds, rallied to beat Frances Michael Llodra and Serb Nenad Zimonjic 3-6, 6-1, 12-10 at the Shanghai Masters. It was the first doubles title for Nestor and Mirnyi since winning the French Open in June. Tim Lincecum Jersey . Though the Jets have not confirmed any updates to Scheifeles status, TSN Hockey Analyst AaronWard says early reports indicate he suffered an MCL injury and will likely out 6-8 weeks.VANCOUVER -- More than bragging rights will be on the line when Canada and the U.S. meet in Sundays CONCACAF womens Olympic soccer qualifying tournament final. The arch rivals have already qualified for the 2012 Summer Games, but they will still be competing for high stakes -- which may mean more later than now. With a victory, Canada can claim the CONCACAF championship as the top team in the North and Central and Caribbean zone. Although this competition is an Olympic qualifier, it doubles as the zone championship and a trophy will be awarded to the victors. Sundays winner will also earn CONCACAFs top seed in the Olympics and, at least in theory, have a chance to be placed in a more favourable preliminary-round pool. However, the pool picks may still be subject to the whims of FIFA under soccers governing bodys complicated ranking and points system. Canada won its CONCACAF qualifier for last summers World Cup, but still wound up in a tougher pool than the U.S. Canada, ranked seventh in the world, could also move up in FIFAs rankings when they are released in March. Although an improved ranking might not hold much sway in the Olympics, it could help Canada get better seedings in future competitions, particularly the 2015 World Cup. Canadian players view the game mainly as a way to test their mettle against the powerhouse American squad. "Not too often do you get a chance to play the best team in the world," said Canadian captain Christine Sinclair, who leads the tournament in scoring with nine goals. "We will absolutely use it as a building block towards London. We might face them in London." The U.S. eliminated Canada in the quarter-finals at the 2008 Games in Beijing. Here, both teams rolled to 3-0 records in the preliminary round before Canada beat Mexico 3-1 in one semifinal Friday and the U.S. blanked Costa Rica 3-0 in the other. The Americans have yet to give up a goal while outscoring their opponents 34-0. Canada has outscored its opposition 16-1. Canadian defender Sophie Schmidt said the game is "essential" to her teams preparation for the Games. "The U.S. is a potential opponent for us in the Olympics, and theyre the best team in the world," saiid Schmidt. Dave Dravecky Authentic Jersey. "So its a good tester game to see where were at and what we need to do to get to where we want to be come Olympics time." Noting that all Olympic opponents will be tough and strong, she called Sundays final "more of a pride game." So far, the U.S. has had much more to brag about than Canada when the neighbours face each other. The Americans have posted 41 wins compared to three losses and five draws against the Canadians since 1986. Canada has not beaten the U.S. since March 2001. The last two losses came in two friendlies in September. With both teams having clinched Olympic berths, U.S. coach Pia Sundhage and Canadian counterpart John Herdman are expected to shuffle their lineups and substitute liberally. "Some players will start and some (other) players will finish," said Herdman. "But thats the beauty of our team. Weve changed the culture greatly, and players know they have a part to play. Weve set a contest around people who start games and people who finish games." Sundhage is also expected to start a distinctly different lineup than the one that played Friday. She said Canadas hopes will hinge on Sinclairs performance. "The last two times we played against Canada, Sinclair didnt play, and Canada is a different team with or without Sinclair," Sundhage said. "Those two games she didnt play are not going to change the system. I thought we played very well against Canada." Sinclair missed the two games because she was on a break following her pro season. She took a hard knock in the first half of Fridays game, but Herdman does not plan to reduce the risk of further injury by sitting her out the entire game. "Youll see Sinclair on Sunday," said Herdman. "You try and stop her playing in that game." Note: Individual honours are also at stake. Sinclair and U.S. striker Abby Wambach are both tied for third in all-time scoring at the international level with 129 goals apiece. Both need one goal to tie, and two or more to surpass, retired American star Kristiane Lilly (130) for second all-time. But retired U.S. legend Mia Hamms all-time record of 152 is well out of reach for now. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

VANCOUVER -- For at least a few hours, the Vancouver Whitecaps could put the Camilo Sanvezzo saga aside. Branden Oliver Womens Jersey . As their best player continued to orchestrate his dramatic exit from the club, the Whitecaps added size and creativity at Thursdays Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Vancouver had two picks in the first seven, selecting defender Christian Dean at No. 3 before taking midfielder Andre Lewis at No. 7. "Being selected is a dream come true," said Dean. "Especially a team on the West Coast, growing up in California ... (Vancouver is) close to home." Hearing a player actually wanting to be at the club should come as welcome news for fans of the Whitecaps, who are now resigned to the fact that Sanvezzo -- the 2013 MLS Golden Boot winner -- will be sold to a Mexican team after forcing Vancouvers hand. And its not only Dean who is happy about his new team. "My mom is ecstatic," he added. "I think shes happier than I am." The 20-year-old from East Palo Alto was selected using the pick Vancouver acquired in the July 2012 trade that sent striker Eric Hassli to Toronto FC. Dean spent the last three seasons with the NCAAs California Golden Bears, starting all 55 games he played. "I bring energy. Big, athletic, on the larger side," said Dean, who stands six foot three and weighs 198 pounds. "Good feet -- especially at centre back, I kind of pride my self a little bit on that. Its something that I like to use to my advantage." The Philadelphia Union traded up to take Connecticut goalkeeper Andre Blake with the first pick before the D.C. United used the second pick to select defender Steve Birnbaum, who was Deans college teammate at Cal. "I dont know much about Philly," said Blake, who originally hails from Jamaica. "I heard something yesterday about how its the place for a cheesesteak or something. Thats as much as I know. But Im pretty sure Ill get adjusted and learn everything I need to know." Meanwhile, the Montreal Impact took Creighton defender Eric Miller with the fifth pick, while Toronto FC traded up to draft Xavier defender Nick Hagglund at No. 10. Left-footed with the ability to play either in the centre or left of defence, Dean said he will have to increase the physical side of his game against MLS competition. "I think I will have to adapt. College was a physical game, especially stepping up from the youth level to college, it got more physical," he said on a conference call. "I think playing against bigger and stronger people, Ill have to become a lot more physical and to do that Ill just have to make a little mental jump to achieve that." Dean might just get that chance as Vancouvers backline has at least one hole heading into training camp next month with the retirement of Y.P. Lee. Meanwhile, Jay DeMerit doesnt have a contract for 2014, but new head coach Carl Robinson has said he wants to bring his captain back into the fold. "I think Im ready to come in and play, wherever I would have ended up," said Dean, who played as a centre back in college this season after two years on the left. "Especially with Vancouver, coming in the defence will be something that will be a possibility for me." Robinson said the Whitecaps had Dean rated high on their draft board. "Hes a great athlete with a fantastic left foot and we believe he has massive upside," Robinson said in a release. "We are confident that Christians game will translate very well to MLS and we look forward to seeing him at camp." Dean has never been to Vancouver and said that he wasnt tipped off during pre-draft discussions with the club that the Whitecaps would be his destination. "I talked to the coaching staff while I was at the combine during one of the player meetings and hit it off," he said. "Other than that there was no real talk of Hey, well select you or stuff like that. "It was kind of a bit of a surprise, but in the end Im happy that I got picked by Vancouver." Lewis was also pleased to be joining the Whitecaps, but for different reasons. "Im a fan of Vancouver because of Darren Mattocks," the 19-year-old said of the Whitecaps striker and fellow Jamaican. "I love the support that the fans give to Vancouver. Im looking forward to starting my professional career with the Whitecaps and to just go there and work hard and do my best." Lewis said he and Mattocks live about 10 minutes apart but that pair didnt speak about the possibility of being teammates in MLS. The five-foot-nine, 145-pound midfielder, who will join the Whitecaps from Jamaican club Portmore United F.C., has represented his country at the under-17 and under-20 levels and earned his first senior call up in 2012. "On the pitch, I always want to be a top player," said Lewis. "Win or lose, I want to be on top of my game at all times." Notes: As a Generation Adidas player, Deans salary will not count against the MLS salary cap. ... Dean said he is friends with Whitecaps striker Omar Salgado from their time with the U.S. under-20 team. ... In the second round, Toronto selected Elon midfielder Daniel Lovitz at No. 24, Vancouver took Connecticut striker Mamadou Diouf at No. 30 and Montreal went with Cal Poly midfielder George Malki at No. 37. Branden Oliver Blue Jersey .com) - The Edmonton Oilers have been in spoiler mode for a while now, however as the season winds down they become more and more dangerous to opponents fighting for a playoff berth.MARIETTA, Ga. -- Officials have approved a deal to build a new $672 million stadium for the Atlanta Braves away from the downtown Atlanta area that has traditionally been its home. The Cobb County commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday night to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the baseball team. Braves officials stunned local leaders earlier this month when they announced they would abandon aan area just south of downtown Atlanta that has been their home since the team moved from Milwaukee in 1966. Juventus squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at promoted Hellas Verona on Sunday and miss the chance to extend its Serie A lead to 11 points. Brandon Beachy Authentic Jersey . A last-minute leveler ensured the two-time defending champion remained nine points ahead of Roma, which drew 0-0 at bitter rival Lazio in the capital derby. Roma has a match in hand on Juventus after last weeks game against Parma was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. "Its not good enough to dominate for 45 minutes, seeing as the slightest lack of concentration can make everything in vain," Juventus coach Antonio Conte said. "We let them back into the game... it was unacceptable. A lost chance. "Were conceding a lot from deadball situations, we need to focus more. Its useless to study our opponents tactics and then make mistakes like this." Carlos Tevez scored twice in the first half for Juventus to take his tally to 13 for the season. But Luca Toni reinforced his bid for a World Cup spot when he reduced the deficit with his 11th goal in 20 matches and substitute Juanito Gomez Taleb, who only came on in the 86th minute, levelled deep in stoppage time. Verona is level on points with fifth-placed Inter Milan which beat Sassuolo 1-0 in the evening match. "We drew against a great team and we are very happy with this point," Gomez said. "Safety remains our aim though, not qualifying for Europe. Were doing well." Gomez, who said the team had been inspired by a halftime pep talk from Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini, added: "He is a man who never gives up. He hugged me because he told me I would score." Earlier, Bologna inched away from the relegation zone following a surprise 2-1 win at high-flying Torino. Elsewhere, it was: Sampdoria 1, Cagliari 0; Parma 0, Catania 0; and Livorno 0, Genoa 1. Juventus got off to the perfect start when Rafael could only parry Kwadwo Asamoahs strike and Tevez slotted home the rebound for a fourth-minute lead. Tevez -- who celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday -- doubled his tally in the 21st minute when he beat the offside trap to fire in Paul Pogbas through ball. Verona reduced the deficit seven minutes after halftime when former Juventus striker Toni headed in Romulos free-kick. There were suspicions of offside, as there had been for Tevezs second. Pablo Osvaldo made his Juventus debut following his loan move from Southampton and almost scored a minute after coming off the bench but his effort clipped the outside of the left post. The Italy striker did have the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out as Asamoah had been offside when providing the assist. Verona almost levelled in the 79th minute as Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon pulled off a stunning fingertip save to keep out a Toni header. However, Gomez Taleb headed in Romulos cross in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Verona snatched a deserved draw. The equalizer prevented Juventus from extending its lead at the top of the table to 11 points and keeps the title race alive. Roma had the best of the chances as Lazio could not manage even one shot on target the whole match. Gervinho thought he had scored his third goal of the week midway through the first half, but it was ruled out for offside. Lazio club captain Stefano Mauri came on in the second half for his first appearance this season following a ban for his role in the match-fixing scandal. In Milan, Sassuolo goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo kept his side in the game with a series of fine saves, notably denying Diego Milito twice from point-blank range at the end of the first half. Inter defender Walter Samuel headed in a corner three minutes after the interval. Last time the two sides met, at the beginning of the season, Inter humiliated Sassuolo 7-0. At the other end of the table, Bologna moved four points above the relegation zone with its first win at Torino since Dec. 1980. Torino, which is pushing for a Europa League place, took the lead in the fifth minute when Ciro Immobile was left unmarked to head home Matteo Darmians cross for his seventh goal in as many matches. However, a brace from Jonathan Cristaldo handed Bologna its second win in 13 matches. Livorno is level on 17 points with Sassuolo, with bottom club Catania a point further back after hitting the woodwork twice in its draw at Parma. Dan Uggla Braves Jersey .Y. -- Bills rookie quarterback EJManuel wont start in Buffalos season finale at New England because of a small tear in a left knee ligament that will not require surgery. Julio Teheran Braves Jersey . "It is my feeling the club is at a stage that is critical to our on-field expectations and this move was necessary," Hervey told a news gathering hours after he informed Reed he was gone after three years as head coach. In December, Kevin Glenn was ecstatic about joining the Ottawa Redblacks. Now the veteran quarterback wants the CFL expansion squad to trade him elsewhere. On Dec. 15, a jubilant Glenn was seen in a family video celebrating after being named a first-round pick by Ottawa in the CFL expansion draft. Following two productive seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, the 13-year veteran was looking forward to leading a first-year franchise and being able to call the Redblacks his team. However, that sentiment changed Feb. 4 when Ottawa signed veteran Henry Burris to a lucrative multi-year contract and immediately named him its starter. On Feb. 11, TSN Reporter Farhan Lalji reported that the Redblacks were listening to offers after Glenn made a request to be moved. "Ive asked to be traded and it dates back to when the actual situation happened," Glenn told The Canadian Press on Thursday in his first public comments regarding his situation with Ottawa. "I really dont want to be part of the situation that is in Ottawa . . . Ive spoken to (head coach) Rick Campbell and (GM) Marcel Desjardins so they know." Burris, 38, was the CFLs passing leader the last two years with Hamilton before being released after free-agent quarterback Zach Collaros joined the Tiger-Cats. "I said I didnt want to do any media because I didnt want to do the back-and-forth stuff, I just left it up to them . . . it seems to me its been kind of dragging out to where it sometimes feels to me they dont care. The last I heard was it was at a standstill." Glenn said he initially asked to be released, but the Redblacks declined. "Its the waiting game and thats another thing that kind of takes a toll on a player because you dont know," Glenn said. "You wake up every morning wondering if this is the day youre going to get traded, is this the day theyll call and say theyre not trading you or youre not on the trading block anymore and they couldnt get anything done? "The whole process is tough but you just try to block it out. Im continuing to do the workouts and throwing the football as well as the other endeavours I do in the off-season." Ottawa GM Marcel Desjardins said hes working to accommodate Glenn. "I need to do whats in the best interest of our football team," he said. "Weve reached out to a few teams but at this point its certainly premature to say anything would actually happen." Desjardins said if he cant work out a trade, it will be up to Glenn to decide whether to report to the Redblacks. There have been suggestions that Glenn would not report to camp if he wasnt traded. "Put it this way, we are not going to release him," Desjardins said. "We have to be smart and put ourselves in the best position depth-wise at the quarterback position and thats what weve done." Dan Vertlieb, Glenns Vancouver-based agent, said hes hoping a suitable resolution can be reached. "Kevin and I have spoken with Ottawas front office on multiple occasions and made our feelings known," said Vertlieb. "At this point, the ball is in their court. "Were hopeful theyll find a way to resolve the situation in a timely manner." The five-foot-11, 205-pound Glenn was 20-8 as a starter replacing the injured Drew Tate over two seasons with Calgary. He guided the Stampeders to a Grey Cup berth in 2012 and top spot in the West Division in 13 with a league-best 14-4 record. "I think everyone could see in that video from my family how I felt (about going to Ottawa)," Glenn said. "But circumstances and things happened to where theres been a change of heart." Ottawa is the fifth stop of Glenns CFL career. Despite having never won a Grey Cup, the former Illinois State star has enjoyed a distinguished tenure in Canada, being named a finalist for the leagues outstanding player award in 07 and currently standing 10th in all-time passing yards with over 39,000. "My biggest thing is an opportunity and as a player I think I do have the right to say if this is a situation I really want to be part of," Glenn said. "Now, ultimately, we all know its not the players decision. "We get intoo this profession knowing in certain situations we sign a contract and dont have control after its signed. Phil Niekro Authentic Jersey. But in my opinion everybody should work towards a common goal to rectify a situation." A consummate professional, the well-spoken Detroit native has also endured adversity. Hes been traded on three occasions -- including twice on the same day and in another deal involving Burris -- led a team to the Grey Cup but couldnt play in the big game due to a broken arm, been replaced as a starter, released and most recently left unprotected for the expansion draft. "One of the reasons why Im here today is because Ive gone through and been able to overcome situations like this and come out on top," Glenn said. Still, Glenn cant help but ask what else he needs to do to show hes worthy of being a CFL starter. "I do and sometimes I dont know the answer," he said. "You just have to continue to keep going. "People can say, Win a Grey Cup and this wont happen to you, but I beg to differ because I think it could still happen to you even if you did." Unfortunately for Glenn, there arent many CFL teams in the market for a starter. Tate is expected to be the No. 1 quarterback in Calgary but if hes injured again youngster Bo Levi Mitchell has shown significant promise. Winnipeg could potentially be an option despite having signed free-agent Drew Willy and acquiring Brian Brohm from Hamilton. Willy and Brohm both lack CFL experience, as does returnee Max Hall. Glenn is very familiar with the Manitoba capital, having spent five seasons there (2004-08). In 2007, he was a finalist for the CFLs outstanding player award and led the Bombers to a Grey Cup appearance but didnt play in the 23-19 loss to Saskatchewan after suffering a broken arm in the East Division final. Glenn admits he couldve stayed quiet and collected a paycheque in Ottawa. However, he believes his play in Calgary proves hes capable of playing well and at the very least deserves the chance to compete for a starting job. "I could sit back and collect a paycheque . . . but I feel its only right for me to feel this way after the two seasons Ive had," Glenn said. "It would be different if I was coming off a year where I struggled and didnt do what I did the past two years. "As a player, as a professional athlete, I have to have the mentality of Look, Ive done enough to be a starter. Ive taken teams to Grey Cups, Ive been nominated for the leagues outstanding player award, Im in the top-10 all-time. I have the confidence to say, Hey, I want to continue to keep playing. I dont want to necessarily sit on the bench." Glenn said while his situation is indeed frustrating, its not just that way for him only. "It also affects my family," he said. "My wife, kids, mother and father, sister-in-law, niece and brother all experienced the same joy (of Glenn being drafted by Ottawa) and thats what I think some people dont understand. "Your family experiences the same feelings you do when it comes to this game because theyre there, theyre with you when all this stuff happens so they get to see you being frustrated or happy. They know it because theyve lived it but sometimes its hard for even them to come to terms with it because its happening to a loved one." Glenn isnt bitter about his situation, adding its part of the game. But he feels its important people understand the personal element of a pro athletes life. "I understand there are plenty of people whod die to just have the contract with a pro team, I totally get that," he said. "I wake up every morning and have for the last 14 years feeling Im blessed to have been able to do something I love for this long. "But at the same time, were human beings, we still have feelings, we still have responsibilities we have to fulfil outside of sports and thats taking care of our family and doing it the best way we can. When these type of things happen where an organization now has control over whether or not youre playing or even have the opportunity whether or not to play I just want fans to understand that side of it and whats really going on." wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

Going into the game versus the Ottawa Senators, Randy Cunneyworth had lost his first four games as Habs Head Coach. Carlos Beltran Jersey . No coach in Montreal Canadiens history has ever lost his first five games behind the bench. Its a record Randy Cunneyworth didnt want. Well, he doesnt have to worry. The Canadiens rewarded the coach with a 6-2 win against his former team on Tuesday night. Many positives coming out of the game. It starts with goaltender CareyPrice, who made 33 saves. It was another great performance by ErikCole. He scored his team-leading sixth powerplay goal and 14th goal of the season. The Canadiens winger has been stellar the past two months. He gives 100 percent every shift. His work ethic is commendable. The third star on the night was Habs defenceman RaphaelDiaz. He picked up three assists in the first period alone. It was the first time a Montreal Canadiens rookie defenceman picked up three assists in a game, since MathieuSchneider did it back in 1990. Honorable mention also goes out too: LarsEller. He was a healthy scratch in Winnipeg and responded to the coachs message. He scored a shorthanded goal, had three shots, two hits and was 56 percent in the faceoff circle. PK Subban, also a healthy scratch in Winnipeg, bounced back as well. He scored a goal, picked up an assist, and was a plus-2. Great contributions also came courtesy of MichaelCammalleri, TomasPlekanec, MathieuDarche and LouisLeblanc. They had two points apiece. The Canadiens finished strong. They entered the third period with a 5-2 lead and didnt sit back. They outshot Ottawa 7-6 in the final frame. They outchanced them and scored the only goal of the third. They werent passive, they were aggressive. Slowly but surely, Cunneyworth is putting his stamp on this team. The road trip continues as the Canadiens face the Lightning in Tampa Bay on Thursday night. Guy Bouchers squad is coming off a huge 5-1 win over Philadelphia. However, they will be without defenceman VictorHedman. He was injured on Tuesday and is day to day. Two points separate the two teams. Montreal has 35, Tampa 33. It will be the first of four meetings between the two clubs. The teams split their matchups last season. Don Larsen Jersey . LOUIS - LanceLynn bounced back from his worst start of the season with 6 2-3 scoreless innings and the St. Mariano Rivera Authentic Jersey .Y. - Forbes ranks the New York Yankees as baseballs most valuable team for the 17th straight year and lists the Tampa Bay Rays with the lowest valuation.ANAHEIM, Calif. - Although nobody on either team can explain it, the Anaheim Ducks havent lost at home to the Calgary Flames in 11 years. After the latest win in that bewildering streak, the Ducks are rolling into the NHL All-Star break on a run that is even more impressive than their weird mastery over the Flames.Ben Lovejoy had a goal and an assist, Frederik Andersen made 30 saves, and the Ducks beat Calgary in Anaheim for the 20th consecutive time, 6-3 on Wednesday night.Kyle Palmieri and Patrick Maroon scored in a three-goal first period for the NHL-leading Ducks, who have won five straight and 17 of 22 since Dec. 1. Ryan Getzlaf, Tim Jackman and Ryan Kesler also scored as Anaheim (31-10-6) opened a three-point lead on Nashville atop the overall standings entering the break.Tonight was a night we really wanted, Lovejoy said. We felt we had to rise to the occasion. We wanted a happy four days (off). For some reason, the Ducks have had nothing but happy days against the Flames in Anaheim lately: Calgary hasnt won at Honda Center since Jan. 19, 2004, and has just one victory in Orange County in this century. The Flames were essentially finished early in the latest chapter, falling behind 4-0 and never catching up.It is nice being on the winning side after being on the losing side of that for a long time, said Jackman, who spent parts of four seasons with Calgary before getting traded to Anaheim last season. Its a tough building to play in, and hopefully we can continue to have an edge here.Mikael Backlund, Sean Monahan and Joe Colborne scored as the Flames four-game winning streak ended in the finale of a five-game Pacific Division trip.Calgary rookie Joni Ortio yielded four goals on 11 shots before getting yanked midway through the second period. Ortio came up from the minors before this trip and promptly won four straight games before flopping in the finale, allowing Jonas Hiller to finish against his longtime Anaheim teammates. We had some bad mental mistakes early, some breakdowns, and they made uus pay, Calgary captain Mark Giordano said. C.C. Sabathia Jersey. Thats why theyre in first place. They make you pay when they get their chances. ... We sort of waited for bad things to happen, and they happened. They got a couple of pucks to the net and some good bounces.Calgarys losing streak in Anaheim is tied for the fourth-longest in a two-team series in NHL history. The Flames five-game, road-winning streak also ended, but Giordano doesnt blame the Anaheim streak.I dont think so, because theres been so much turnover with players on our team, Giordano said. Its just that theyre a great team. They had a great run last year at home where they didnt lose for a long time, and this year again their record speaks for itself. After Palmieri put Anaheim ahead in the opening minutes off a sharp pass from Matt Beleskey, Maroon tipped home Lovejoys shot for his second goal in three games. Two minutes later, Lovejoys long shot appeared to deflect off Kris Russell on the way past Ortio for the low-scoring defencemans first goal of the season. It was great execution by them, and they were good enough to get their sticks on those pucks going to the net, Calgary coach Bob Hartley said. Theres not much more we could have done.Shortly after Jackmans goal chased Ortio midway through the second period, Backlund scored on a loose puck in the slot.Getzlaf and fellow All-Star Giordano had to be separated after Getzlaf tripped over Giordanos outstretched leg in the second period, falling on his head. Getzlaf scored his 15th goal in the slot moments later.Kesler added an empty-netter in the final minute.NOTES: Anaheim D Clayton Stoner was a late scratch with a lower-body injury. Colby Robak played for the first time since Dec. 19, earning his first point in a Ducks uniform on Getzlafs goal. ... Maroon and Lovejoy scored against the Flames for the first time in their respective careers. ... Lovejoy hadnt recorded two points in one period since Jan. 3, 2014, when he scored two goals in three minutes against Edmonton.wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

CHICAGO -- The Pittsburgh Penguins were wrapping up practice Friday when TannerGlass grabbed an iPad mini and skated around the temporary rink in the middle of Soldier Field. Mens Nike Air Max 90 Knit Shoes Yellow/Green . The 30-year-old Canadian forward smiled as he captured the chilly scene, which took him all the way back to when he first learned to skate at his grandparents farm. "As I grew up, there was an outdoor rink right beside by the main rink," said Glass, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan. "So even tournaments, wed have our real game inside and then wed all just take half our gear off and run across to the outdoor rink and play all day. It reminds me of that and kind of the good old days." Yup, these outdoor games still have an allure for NHL players, especially when they involve two of the best teams in the league. The league gets a marquee prime-time finish for its successful Stadium Series when SidneyCrosby and the Penguins take on JonathanToews and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night at the home of the NFLs Chicago Bears. "Youve got two pretty fast, skilled hockey teams and if the ice can kind of agree with everyone I think that would make for a pretty good product out there," Crosby said. The forecast calls for light snow and temperatures in the teens, but each team has some experience with the pratfalls of playing outside. Chicago lost 6-4 to rival Detroit in the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. Crosby had the winning shootout goal when visiting Pittsburgh beat Buffalo 2-1 in the first Winter Classic in 2008, but the Penguins lost 3-1 to Washington when they hosted the 2011 game at Heinz Field. Now the Blackhawks and Penguins return to the great outdoors for their first meeting since Pittsburghs 3-2 victory on Dec. 20, 2011. Its their first game in Chicago since PatrickKane had the only shootout goal in the Blackhawks 3-2 win on Feb. 20 of that year. While scheduling and the leagues most recent labour dispute have kept the teams apart, the players are plenty familiar with one another. Team captains Crosby and Toews face off for the first time in an NHL regular-season game after leading Canada to the gold medal in the Sochi Olympics last weekend. Crosby, Toews and Penguins forward ChrisKunitz scored in their countrys 3-0 victory in the final against Sweden, which included MarcusKruger, JohnnyOduya and NiklasHjalmarsson of the Blackhawks. Penguins coach DanBylsma got a chance to see Kane up close when he was behind the bench for Team USA in Russia. "Ive learned quite a bit about his competitiveness," Bylsma said. "You kind of see the smile. Its certainly a ton of skill how he plays the game, but I was impressed by it and learned just the competitiveness that he has and brings to the game. Skill-wise you see it live." The first NHL game at Soldier Field also features two teams in need of a win. The Penguins are coming off a 6-5 shootout loss to Montreal, while the Blackhawks lost 2-1 at the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Chicago, which almost tied the game against the Rangers in the final seconds, is playing its first game in the Windy City since Jan. 26. "Everybody is excited for Saturday," centre PeterRegin, who scored the only goal against New York, said Thursday night. "Obviously we were hoping to get a different outcome tonight, but we play in two days. That is the good thing about the NHL, you play every second night, so its not so long before you can redeem yourself." Mens Nike Air Max 95 Shoes Black/Light Blue .com) - Nikolay Kulemin had two goals and an assist and the New York Islanders closed out a hugely successful pre-All-Star- break schedule with a 7-4 decision over the Philadelphia Flyers. Jordan signed his contract Wednesday, making him the third inside linebacker with special teams experience that the Redskins have added in free agency. MIAMI -- DwyaneWades role as captain of the Miami Heat comes with certain privileges. For example, he can occasionally shake off calls from Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. And no one complained, either. Wade and LeBronJames each scored 22 points, MikeMiller added 14 off the bench and the Heat rode the strength of a brilliant 18-minute run midway through the game to beat the Hornets 109-95 on Monday night, Miamis eighth win in nine games. The Hornets finished with only 25 rebounds, the lowest total in the NBA this season. James had 11 rebounds -- more than any two Hornets -- and eight assists for Miami, which had six players in double figures and outscored New Orleans 54-23 from the midpoint of the second quarter through the end of the third. "When a guy like D-Wade has a rhythm, youve got to keep feeding him," James said. "He brought us back." Wade had 15 points in the second quarter, and perhaps his biggest contribution all night was when he got Spoelstra to change his mind. Looking to manufacture a jolt, Spoelstra wanted to go to a zone defence when Miami was struggling. Wade waved him off, thinking the Heat were on the verge of getting something going. He was right. "We started the game in a little bit of a fog and they came out and played very sharply," Spoelstra said. "They came out with a lot of energy ... then the game changed, I felt, in the second quarter. Dwyane really set the tone from that point on." ChrisBosh and NorrisCole each scored 12 for the Heat, who trailed 45-33 midway through the second quarter before outscoring New Orleans 76-50 the rest of the way. JarrettJack and CarlLandry each scored 14 for New Orleans, which lost for the 17th time in 19 games after a 2-0 start. EmekaOkafor scored 13 points and GreivisVasquez added 11 for the Hornets. "Its hard to play the kind of basketball that you need to play when youre not getting what you feel is a fair call at times," Hornets coach MontyWilliams said. "I thought our guys got beat up a little bit tonight going to the basket. ... Take nothing away from Miami. That is a championship-contending team. Their effort showed that tonight." There were all sorts of indicators suggesting that Miami would get off to a less-than-ideal start. It was Miamis third game in four nights, though all were at home. Mondays tip-off came about 24 hours after Sundays down-to-the-wire epic against Chicago, where the Heat win wasnt secure until 00. Mens Nike Free 5.0 V3 Running Shoes Red/Orange/White. 1 seconds remained. And the second night of back-to-backs have been trouble all season for Miami, which had been 3-3 in those contests -- including both of its home defeats, those coming against Atlanta and Milwaukee. So sure enough, the Heat started slowly -- and found themselves in a 12-point hole against a team with the worst record in the Western Conference. New Orleans made 10 of its first 11 shots, then used a 16-6 run in the second quarter to briefly grab control. Spoelstra had an idea. Wade apparently had a better one. "He called our zone and as the captain at that time, I kind of vetoed it," Wade said. "It aint gonna happen much. But I felt at the time we needed to be a little more aggressive." With that, the game changed for good. Wade scored 11 straight Miami points to erase the deficit almost single-handedly -- 13 out of 15 points as well, assisting a basket by James to account for the other two -- and the Heat went into halftime up 51-49. They were just getting started. Miami scored the first nine points of the third, stretching the lead to 60-49 and capping what was a 27-4 run over a span of less than eight minutes. James scored 14 points in the quarter, Chalmers made all three of his shots -- all from 3-point range -- and the Miami lead was up to 87-68 by the end of the period. "Thats the game right there. You blink and all of a sudden the lead opens up," Okafor said. "With a team like that, you cant allow that to happen -- three superstars and a cast of players who can play. You give them that type of leeway, they just run with it." By then, the only drama left was whether James would get his 33rd career triple-double. Instead, he got the fourth quarter off. Notes: Justin Bieber, who has been the subject of more than a few tweets posted by Heat owner Micky Arison, was in attendance. ... Williams had high praise for the Heat before the game, especially Spoelstra. "Spo doesnt get enough credit in my opinion for the ability to coach talent, supreme talent, every night," Williams said. ... Miller -- no stranger to injury problems in his Heat tenure -- was grabbing at his right hand late in the first quarter and grimacing in pain, but stayed in the game. ... James became the 17th player in NBA history with 17,000 points, 4,500 rebounds and 4,500 assists. Of the first 16, 13 are Hall of Famers already, the others being GaryPayton, KevinGarnett and KobeBryant, all sure-fire Hall entrants one day. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

DAVOS, Switzerland -- Canada got away from its game in the third period and paid for it dearly at the Spengler Cup. Phil Niekro Braves Jersey . Petr Sykora scored a hat trick and Peter Sejna added two goals as HC Davos hammered Canada 8-1 on Wednesday. Robbie Earl added a goal and two assists for Davos, which earned a bye into the tournament semifinal. Pavel Brendl added a goal and an assist while Dario Burgle also scored. Pascal Pelletier replied for Canada, which won its opener 7-1 against HC Vitkovice Steel on Monday. Canada trailed 2-1 entering the third period but things unravelled quickly. "We got too impatient trying to tie the game when instead you have to keep in the game," Canada coach Marc Crawford said. "We tried to push at a level that made our risk-reward ratio not very much in our favour. "When you are careless with the puck and trap too many forwards deep, thats double trouble and against a team with high-level skill, thats the way they want you to play." Crawford said Canada needs to get back to basics if it has any hope of rebounding. "The system works, you just have to stay with it. (The players) are showing that they want to play well and showing that they want to make something happen, I like that attitude," he said. "You take educated risks, you take risks that have a payoff and dont put you in a high-gambling level. We were guilty of not making very good decisions, but well get better." Jake Allen allowed all eight goals for Canada, which now has to play GA Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals Thursday. Crawford said Allen was hung out to dry by his teammates on a few occasions in the third. "There wasnt anything really wrong with Jake, we were defensively not sharp enough. Maybe I should have taken him out but thats always a delicate thing. If you take him out its like your pointing a finger," Crawford said. "Hes going to be fine. Goaltending can sometimes be a very humbling position." Davos blew a tight game wide open early in the third. Sejna scored on the power play at 2:57 before Earl stretched the lead to 4-1 at 6:25. Sykora blasted a slapshot past a down-and-out Allen at 10:30 to complete his hat trick and Sejna added his second just under two minutes later. Burgle made it 7-1 at 15:55 before Brendl completed the rout at 17:17. Sykora opened the scoring with a short-handed effort with two minutes left in the first. The former NHLer fought off a defender on a partial breakaway and beat Allen with a shot that squeaked under his arm. Sykora made it 2-0 at 13:27 of the second before Pelletier got Canada to within one with 25 seconds left in the period. Crawford would not say if Allen or veteran goalie Mary Turco, who played the opener, would start against Wolfsburg. The Spengler Cup, the worlds oldest professional international hockey tournament, has been held in the picturesque mountain town of Davos since 1923. The competition features five European club teams and a Canadian entry comprised largely of European-based pros. Canada has appeared in nine of the last 11 Spengler Cup finals, last winning the tournament in 2007. Freddie Freeman Jersey . According to the Edmonton Sun, Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterbacks coach Khari Jones is the favourite to be hired for the position after the Grey Cup. The Blue Bombers must wait until after Sundays game to ask permission to speak to Jones but that may not be their only phone call. Brandon Beachy Authentic Jersey . The Desert Foxes took part in the 2010 World Cup and failed to advance past the group stage, and the African side figures to have a tough time reaching the last 16 this time around as well. Belgiums last appearance on the big stage was the 2002 tournament when the team reached the second round before bowing out to eventual champions Brazil.Every night of the Stanley Cup playoffs, TSN hockey analyst and former NHL goaltender JamieMcLennan breaks down each goalies performance. Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. JonathanQuick, Los Angeles Kings (5) - A goaltending clinic tonight from Quick that started with a not a very busy first period. Quick only faced four scoring chances in the first frame, including a nice one-timer save on DerekDorsett and two big saves on MatsZuccarello - one that he creates by himself with a rebound off the glove that he reaches back with his paddle as it hits the post and the other with a terrific blocker save on the power play. He put on a show in the second, though, facing 12 scoring chances in the period, and making huge saves on DerickBrassard (twice), BradRichards and Martin St.Louis. Quick looked like the 2012 Conn Smythe-winner in that period. Jason Heyward Jersey. The third was more of the same with big saves on Zuccarello, Richards and MarcStaal. Scoring Chances were 22 to 10 for the Rangers, but it was the Jon Quick Show tonight. HenrikLundqvist, New York Rangers (3) - Not a busy game for Lundqvist, but he made a good save on JeffCarter down the wall blocker-side and only faced two scoring chances in the opening period. He had no chance on the late goal by Carter, as it hit DanGirardis skate and changed direction. Lundqvist faced six scoring chances in the second period with two goals against and no chance on either. Both were deflections that he was just unable to get to. Lundqvist faced two tough shots in the third period from Carter and MikeRichards. A tough game to sit and watch when the guy at the other end is playing great and everything that comes your way is a deflection or chance against. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

CHICAGO -- DerrickRoses comeback turned out to be a cameo, and the Chicago Bulls worst nightmare became a reality again. jersyes nfl wholesale . The Bulls hopes about contending for a championship this season took a serious hit. Their long-term plans appear to be up in the air, too. The team said Rose will miss the remainder of the season after having surgery Monday morning in Chicago to repair a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. For the Bulls and their point guard, its an all-too-familiar spot. "I felt for him. He is a great person, first and foremost," coach Tom Thibodeau said before Chicago played at Utah. Rose was injured Friday night at Portland, a huge setback for him and the organization. The 2011 NBA MVP missed all of last season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Chicagos 2012 playoff opener against Philadelphia. He has played in just 50 NBA games -- 49 in the regular season and that lone playoff game -- since the Bulls run to the Eastern Conference finals during his MVP season. The latest injury occurred in the third quarter against the Trail Blazers. He lost his footing while trying to change direction to get back on defence when NicolasBatum stole a pass from JoakimNoah and started the other way. Rose limped across the court and couldnt put any weight on his knee. After the Blazers scored, he came out of the game during a timeout. It didnt appear there was any contact on the play. Rose was unable to return and was on crutches afterward. With Rose back, the Bulls were expected to challenge LeBronJames and the Miami Heat for supremacy in the Eastern Conference and contend for their first championship since the MichaelJordan-ScottiePippen era. Instead, theyre in a familiar spot -- trying to get by without their cornerstone player. Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement he was "heartbroken" when he heard about Roses injury. "Everyone at the Bulls knows firsthand how extremely hard Derrick worked to return to the court this year, and I have no doubt he will do the same with regards to his recovery from this injury," Reinsdorf added. "Despite Derricks absence, this is still a good team. I know from last year, this team and coaching staff will continue to make our fans proud." He added that doctors expect Rose to make a full recovery. But the latest injury raises big questions about whether they should continue to build around him as their cornerstone player and how this will impact the rest of the roster. "Its obviously too soon to go down that road," general manager Gar Forman told the teams website. "Derrick had surgery this morning. Look, we are always evaluating our team, just like everyone else does. "We felt good about this season, but we were hardly perfect. So we always are looking to get better. Everything we do is geared toward winning a championship and we will continue to evaluate any moves that will help us in attaining that goal." Asked if the Bulls can trust Rose after two season-ending knee injuries, Forman said. "We see no reason not to. Thats what the best doctors in the world tell us." Rose had insisted he could regain the form that made him the leagues youngest MVP, that he was coming back as good as ever, but he was off to a shaky start. Rose was averaging 15.9 points and was shooting just over 35 per cent, although he looked a little better in his final two games with 19 points in a loss at Denver and 20 against Portland. The Bulls were built to win this season with Rose. Hes their lone superstar, the only player who can consistently create his own shot, and its hard to envision them hanging with the Heat or Indiana without him. "You feel for him," the Pacers PaulGeorge said. "No matter what our rivalry is or the dislike in teams in being in the same division, you never want to see guys go down. Especially a season-ending injury." Roses injury could send ripples through the roster. LuolDeng has an expiring contract. Do the Bulls try to trade him with the idea that the championship window for this team is shut or risk letting him leave at the end of the season without getting anything in return? Then, theres CarlosBoozer. A candidate to be amnestied, the Bulls might try to trade him. For now, hes their No. 1 scoring option. Without Rose, the Bulls figure to be a middle-of-the-road team. His torn ACL in 2012 sent top-seeded Chicago to a first-round exit against Philadelphia, capping a season in which he was in and out of the lineup due to injuries. Last season, while Roses recovery became a running soap opera, the Bulls clawed their way to 45 wins and the second round of the playoffs even though players kept going down because they were hurt or sick. But several key contributors are gone. The Bulls let NateRobinson leave because they had Rose coming back, meaning that veteran KirkHinrich is now the starter with third-year pro MarquisTeague backing him up. They also decided not to re-sign swingman MarcoBelinelli and brought in MikeDunleavy Jr., instead. "Its tough for everybody," Dunleavy said. "I certainly feel for (Rose). Ironically, one of the reasons I came here is because of the way this team performed under adversity. Now, here we are again in the same boat." wholesale nfl jerseys . On Tuesday, they did it again. RoyHibbert scored 22 points and LanceStephenson fell just short of his fourth triple double this season, helping the Pacers hold off Torontos late charge for an 86-79 victory that allowed them to keep the NBAs best record. cheap jerseys from china . One of his main rivals, Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu, sits just ahead of him in first place. Chan skated a largely clean routine, although he stumbled slightly in landing one of his triple axels a jump that CBC figure skating analyst Kurt Browning said is "not his favourite comfort jump.Pittsburgh Penguins captain SidneyCrosby echoed the teams approach when asked about his two-game layoff and said he is just trying to be careful with his health. "I just want to be smart with this," Crosby told pittsburghpenguins.com. "Its been a long road back and we want to err on the side of caution." According to the teams website, Crosby didnt feel well following Mondays game against the Boston Bruins. Following Wednesdays practice, Crosby said he had a slight headache so the team decided to sit him for two games. "Ive taken some good hits over the past few weeks and am happy with the way my body responded," Corsby told the website. "But after discussing things with doctors, it was better to make sure I was cautious before returning to play." Penguins head coach DanBylsma said that there is no indication that Crosby has a concussion and that holding hhim out of the lineup is simply precautionary. wholesale jerseys. "It was not a one-time incident in the game. He took a couple hits in the game and didnt feel 100 per cent after the game, so that was an indication," Bylsma said. "He went and saw Dr. (Michael) Collins the next day. His ImPACT test was exactly what it was when he returned to play. "Dr. Collins said there is no indication of a concussion at this point in time," Bylsma continued. "After practice (Wednesday), he had a slight headache. He knows his body well. Its been a long 10 months. And as a precautionary (move), he is just kind of taking tonights game off and through the weekend." Crosby will be re-evaluated over the next few days. Crosby has two goals and 10 assists in eight games since returning from a concussion. The Penguins visit the Flyers this evening and the New York Islanders on Saturday. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

ST. Thurman Thomas Bills Jersey . LOUIS The series shifts to the Gateway City, where friendly Cardinals fans are ready to pour into Busch Stadium for a live look at their beloved teams fourth World Series appearance since 2004. The switch to National League rules will have a significant effect on the Red Sox lineup. Mistakes, on Wednesday night by the Cardinals and on Thursday by the Red Sox, have cost each team a game in this series. Were down to a best-of-five and St. Louis has home field advantage, although it must win three in a row to clinch here. Game 3 Preview: Pitching Matchup: Red Sox RHP JakePeavy (Regular season: 12-5, 4.17, 1.147 WHIP in 144.2IP; Playoffs: 2GS: 0-1, 8.31, 1.5 WHIP in 8.2IP) How the Cardinals match up: Peavy spent the first eight years of his career with the San Diego Padres and there are three Cardinals whove played long enough that they remember Peavys days in the National League. CarlosBeltran: 8-20, .400/.480/.800, 1 HR, 3 2B, 1 3B, 6 RBI, 4 BB.MattHolliday: 8-28, .286/.474/.393, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 10 BB, 7 K.YadierMolina: 4-22, .182/.182/.182, 1 RBI, 5 K. Lineup Considerations: The Red Sox are well aware that MikeNapoli will be relegated to a bench role in Game 3, as DavidOrtiz takes over first base in order to keep his bat in the lineup. There is no designated hitter under National League rules. "I think that we certainly have a little bit of a disadvantage, just simply because of the way our roster is constructed as opposed to theirs," said Peavy. "Theyre a National League ballclub, and theyre going to play with their normal lineup, with the way they were built. Being an American League team, were going to miss a huge middle of the lineup bat." Also, manager John Farrell has confirmed left-handed hitting DanielNava will start in left field over JonnyGomes, who played in the first two games at Fenway Park. "With the amount of ground to cover in left field, the left-right matchups against Kelly," said Farrell. "Hell continue to factor in here." Pitching Matchup: Cardinals RHP JoeKelly (Regular season: 10-5, 2.69, 1.355 WHIP in 124IP; Playoffs: 3GS, 0-1, 4.41, 1.531 WHIP in 16.1IP) How theRed Soxmatch up: Only ShaneVictorino and StephenDrew, playing in the National League in 2012, have faced Kelly. Each has three plate appearances. Drew has a triple against Kelly and Victorino drew a walk. Lineup Considerations: With the right-hander Peavy pitching for Boston, Cardinals manager MikeMatheny will continue to play MattAdams at first base. AllenCraig, who has two hits in the World Series serving as the designated hitter, has taken ground balls and is closer to being able to play the field. Craig was activated in time for the Fall Classic, having been out since September 4 with a sprained foot. Game 3 Prediction: With so many unknown factors, including the big mistakes weve seen so far, this predicting has become a challenge. If you look at Kellys season and playoff WHIP, it would suggest were going to see the Red Sox with runners on base. Can they cash them? Sure, but the Cardinals scratch and claw at Peavy and the bullpens will sort this game out. St. Louis is better and so the Cardinals will win, 6-5. Mike Singletary Bears Jersey . -- The New England Patriots have re-signed veteran defensive lineman AndreCarter He had 10 sacks for the Patriots in 2011, his only season with them, and was chosen to his first Pro Bowl. Throwback NHL Jerseys Mitchell and Ness . Poyets immediate challenge is to produce Sunderlands first victory in the league, with the northeast club bottom with just one point from seven matches. "Trust me, believe, connect with the team," Poyet said after signing a two-year contract.MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Timberwolves have named SamMitchell as an assistant on coach Flip Saunders staff. The Timberwolves made the announcement Tuesday. Mitchell played for the Timberwolves in 10 seasons, including seven years during Saunders first stint as coach of the team. Mitchell coached the Toronto Raptors for just over four seasons and was named coach of the year in 2006-07. He also servedd as an assistant under AveryJohnson in New Jersey and George Karl in Milwaukee. Sam Mills Mitchell and Ness Jersey. He had been serving as an analyst on NBA TV among other media outlets while waiting to get back into the game. Saunders says he values the leadership Mitchell will bring to the team. Despite pounding out 12 hits, the Winnipeg Goldeyes have lost back-to-back games for just the second time this season. nfl jerseys china . The Goldeyes (14-9) fell 4-2 to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (15-8) Saturday night before a full crowd of 4,571 at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. "We just struggled to get that big hit," Goldeyes pitching coach Jamie Vermilyea said on the Jewel 101 post-game show. "Its a tough loss." The loss drops Winnipeg a game behind Fargo for first place in the North Division. After Fargo took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a home run from Ronnie Bourquin and an RBI double from Sawyer Carroll, Winnipeg tied the game in the top of the second. With two out, Donnie Webb scored on a Josh Mazzola triple and then Mazzola scored on a Casey Haerther single. Fargo re-took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second and went up 4-2 on a sac fly by Carroll in the fourth inning. Winnipeg had plenty of opportunities the take the lead, as the Goldeyes stranded 10 runners in the game, which was one less than their season high. The most glaring missed chance was in the sixth inning when Winnipeg loaded the bases with one out in the sixth inning, but came up empty. The Goldeyes also put runners on first and second in the ninth inning, but Ray Sadlers fly ball died at the left field wall to end the game. After the giving up four runs in the first four innings, Winnipegs pitching staff retired the last 14 batters they faced. Gabe Aguilar pitched 1 2/3 of scoreless work out of the bullpen, while Kaohi Downing came in for the final out of the bottom of the eight. Matt Jackson had his record drop to 3-2 after suffering the loss for Winnipeg. He gave up four runs and nine hits in six innings of work. "He scuffled early and definitely didnt have his best stuff, but he battled and kept us in the game," Vermilyea said. "It wasnt a quality start, but its definitely respectable and he gave us a chance to win." Not the dislocated index finger on his right. And certainly not the Sacramento Kings. Sullinger scored 14 of his career-high 31 points in the fourth quarter, igniting a 15-0 surge that sent the Celtics to a 99-89 victory over the Kings and their longest winning streak in more than two months. Sullinger, who also pulled down 16 rebounds, hit just four of his first 10 shots from the field, but the second-year centre drained 10 of his final 14 as Boston closed the game on a 25-15 run. "I think he feels better every day," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "Fair or unfair, thats who we need him to be. And so thats the opportunity in front of him. "Im not saying that you have to get a double-double every day, but hes darn near capable of that." JerrydBayless added 19 points and JeffGreen had 17 for the Celtics, who won their third straight game for the first time since Dec. 3-8. And they did it without their starting backcourt. RajonRondo (soreness) and AveryBradley (ankle) both sat out, allowing Bayless and rookie PhilPressey to run the offence. But it was Sullinger who helped overcome their absence. The 6-foot-9, 280-pound inside force scored in nearly every way imaginable during his remarkable run in the fourth. He scored on layups, a dunk, a foul shot, a 3-pointer and capped his memorable performance with a nifty turnaround fadeaway on the baseline that kept Boston on top by 14 with 3 minutes to play. "I just went out and played my game," said Sullinger, who had season-ending back surgery last year. "I have been doing it for the last couple of games and just have been letting it go." DeMarcusCousins led the Kings with 31 points and 16 rebounds, but was on the sideline for much of Bostons final push. He went to the bench late in the third with the Celtics up by three, and by the time he returned 4:10 into the fourth, Bostons lead had ballooned to 11. "I dont think I came in focused tonight," Cousins said. "There were some outside things thhat strike me tonight, so I blame myself for tonights loss. wholesale nfl jerseys. quot; IsaiahThomas had 24 points and DerrickWilliams had 11 points and 12 boards for the Kings, who had won two straight. Sullinger actually heated up in the third, stringing together six straight points during a 10-0 run that handed the Celtics a 59-52 lead midway through the quarter. Boston came out firing in the fourth, opening an early 11-point lead on the heels of two 3-pointers from Bayless, who also displayed his defensive skills when he hustled back on a break to block a wide-open layup by BenMcLemore with 7:45 to play. "Just try and make plays. When you play well together, things work out," Bayless said. "It takes time for people to jell and right now you can see we are starting to jell a bit." Bayless block only sparked the Celtics -- Sullinger in particular -- further. He followed the swat with a rebound and putback, delivered a three-point play, hit a 3 and added the fadeaway to help preserve the lead. "Tip your hat to JaredSullinger," Sacramento coach Michael Malone said. "He came out and dominated us tonight." Rondo had played in eight games since missing nearly a year with a torn ACL, and the four-time All Star has been rounding into form, averaging 13.5 points, 10.5 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in Bostons last two games. Sacramento was missing one of its top threats as well. RudyGay, averaging 20.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, sat out with an illness. NOTES: Boston C VitorFaverani (knee) and Sacramento G MarcusThornton (hip) also did not play. . Cousins was averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds over his last two games. He scored 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the first quarter Friday. . Sacramento lost its sixth straight in Boston. . Boston shot 45.5 per cent (40 of 88) in the opening half, while Sacramento shot 35.6 per cent (31 of 87). . Thomas and Bayless got into a scuffle with 5:11 remaining, and both players had to be separated by teammates and referees. . PEORIA, Ariz. Brian Urlacher Jersey . -- Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said Saturday it would be "hard pressed" for either HisashiIwakuma or TaijuanWalker to be in the Mariners rotation on opening day because of their injury setbacks during spring training. McClendon said the injuries to Iwakuma (finger) and Walker (shoulder) will open up chances for others in camp, but also leave a rotation that had questions entering spring training even more uncertain. "I always plan for the worst and our contingency plan has been that," McClendon said. "So like I said before this gives other guys opportunities to go out and see what they can do. Well see what happens." Iwakuma will have his right middle finger in a splint for another three weeks before throwing, while Walker is being shut down for a week because of inflammation in his right shoulder. By the time the duo make up for missed time on the mound it will be early- to mid-April before either is expected in a game. While Seattle is understandably cautious with the sore shoulder of the 21-year-old Walker because of his age, the finger injury has become frustrating for Iwakuma. When he went to see Dr. Don Sheridan on Friday, Iwakuma had the expectation that he could start throwing on Saturday. Instead, he was told to avoid throwing for three more weeks. The earliest Iwakuma is expected to pick up a ball is March 21. By the time he gets caught up on bullpen sessions and simulated games to get the needed innings to be ready for the season, itll likely be mid-April before he could join the Mariners rotation. "I was honestly disappointed and frustrated too at the same time, but you have to respect what the doctor says," Iwakuma said through an interpreter Saturday morning. "I was ready to play catch today so it is what it is and I have to wait three more weeks." Iwakuma went 14-6 with a 2.66 ERA in 33 starts last season and was a finalist for the AL Cy Young Award. Iwakuma reported for spring training wearing the splint and said his finger got caught as he tried to retrieve a ball in some netting while working out in Southern California on Jan. 20. McClendon also confirmed -- not surprisingly -- that FelixHernandez is expected to be Seattles opening day starter when the Mariners open the season on March 31 against the Angels. "Unless youve got somebody else," McClendon joked. "Ill try and see if he can go opening day, the second day and the third day." Jim McMahon Bears Jersey . Wingels, a 23-year-old Evanston, Ill., native, is a second-year pro who spent most of his first season with Worcester of the American Hockey League. Bruce Smith Jersey . -- The Royals expect to place left-hander BruceChen on the disabled list with a swollen disc in his back that has already caused the club to juggle its starting rotation.TORONTO - The Raptors nearly shocked everyone with their second-half comeback in an eventual defeat to the two-time defending champs. Everyone except the champs themselves, that is. "We get the best of each team we play," the Heats DwyaneWade recognized shortly before his team handed the division-leading Raptors their ninth loss in 15 games to begin the season. "We dont even look at records, it doesnt matter." "Teams come out and theyre ready to play us, and rightfully so. Weve earned it." But the home team did not come out ready to play, not like their coach had hoped and expected them to following a similarly slow start in a defeat three days prior. "Our defence, pressure on the basketball, tags and our rotations were a step slow in the first half," Dwane Casey said after Torontos 90-83 loss to Miami. A well-oiled machine, Miamis offence steamrolled over the Raptors in the first half. Toronto fell behind by 14 at the break and trailed by as much as 20 midway through the third quarter before the alarm clock finally went off. Torontos defence woke up, holding the Heat to one field goal in the final five minutes of the third quarter and cutting the deficit to two late in the fourth. Still, as it was against Brooklyn on Tuesday and has been so often in the past, it wasnt enough to save the Raptors from suffering an inevitable loss to a team that feasts on those who lose their focus. "Right now were a one-half team," Casey said. "Weve got to get two solid halves put together." Easier said than done. "Whats it going to take," TylerHansbrough asked, rhetorically. "Thats a good question. Its a mindset. On the road weve had games where weve put it together and played pretty well, weve just got to do it at home." "I dont know the answer to be honest with you," he continued. "Were a hell of a team when we fight back but we cant let it get to that," said DeRozan, who again was exceptional in defeat; scoring 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting. "Weve got to be a team that plays a full, two halves of basketball." Even after showingg up late, the Raptors had their opportunities thanks in large part to a renewed defensive focus that stymied Miamis free-flowing offence late in the game. Bernie Kosar Jersey. Alas, Toronto turned the ball over 21 times - leading to 26 Heat points - and missed eight of ten fourth-quarter free throws. DeRozan and Gay, both 80 per cent free throw shooters on the season prior to Fridays game, connected on five of their 14 attempts from the stripe. "Thats everything," Gay said of the missed free throws. "To finish a game youve got to hit free throws and finish at the rim. It was tough for us to do either." Coming off a 3-for-12 performance on Tuesday - one that prompted a late-night shooting session - Gay was moderately better, scoring 21 points, however he needed 21 shots to do so. His inefficiency from the painted area persisted, especially late in the game, and his pair of missed free throws with a minute and a half left were crucial in defeat. The Raptors are still searching for an answer to Caseys conundrum. How do they put it all together? The Heat are and will continue to be the NBAs bench mark. Theyre more than an enormously talented team. On top of their talent they have developed an identity and chemistry as a team that is a joy to watch and almost impossible to stop. No matter how talented the team, the Heat know that what theyve been able to achieve does not come easy for anybody. "You cant cheat it," Wade preached. "I think the first year when we were together we tried to cheat it, we tried to say, lets do it right now and we got to the championship but when we got there we realized that the continuity that we really needed, when we really needed it, wasnt there." "We didnt have enough time to build it. So it takes time to build." Toronto has dropped 12 straight games to the Heat since LeBronJames and ChrisBosh joined forces with Wade and 13 straight contests to Miami overall. Up next The Raptors will conclude a season-long four game homestand on Sunday afternoon playing host to the Denver Nuggets, a game you can catch on TSN 1050 Radio beginning at 1:00pm et. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' ' |

SASKATOON - The head coach of the University of Saskatchewans mens hockey team has been given a two-game suspension after he admitted to making a homophobic slur in a private email to his team. Danny Green Spurs Jersey . Dave Adolph, the bench boss for the Huskies, says in a statement that the words he used in the leaked December email were inappropriate and unprofessional and he apologizes to anyone who may have been offended. Adolph says hes not proud of the homophobic slang he used and that he fully supports gay rights and the You Can Play project, which encourages players, coaches and sports enthusiasts to welcome athletes who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender. The nature of what the coach said has not been revealed and its not clear whether university administration or Huskie Athletics suspended him, but the U of S says its committed to preventing such incidents from happening again. Adolph has led his team to 18 consecutive post-season appearances and five Canada West Championship titles, capturing the Canada West Coach of the Year award in 1998 and 2000. NEW YORK -- Nothing about the first period suggested the New York Rangers were about to snap their three-game losing streak. Alex Gordon Royals Jersey . Back at home Monday night after a four-game trip that concluded with losses at Buffalo, Winnipeg and Pittsburgh, the Rangers were sluggish early against the Carolina Hurricanes and started the second period in a familiar hole. But DerekStepan scored the tying goal, and HenrikLundqvist was perfect in net the rest of the way as the Rangers outlasted the Hurricanes 2-1 in a shootout. Lundqvist allowed a goal to EricStaal in the final minute of the first, but no other pucks got past him -- including two shootout attempts. Now the Rangers will look to build on this win as they get set to face the Devils in New Jersey on Tuesday. Carolina and New Jersey are part of a four-team logjam with 32 points in the Eastern Conference -- two more than the ninth-place Rangers. "It means nothing if we dont go into Jersey and play the same way," captain RyanCallahan said of the Rangers, who have scored only three goals in four games. "We have to go to Jersey and show that kind of effort we did in the second and third, and pucks will start going in for us, too. "Theres no concern in this room. We know we have guys in here that can score goals, and its going to come." Rangers coach John Tortorella put his three biggest offensive threats -- RickNash, BradRichards, and MarianGaborik -- on one line against the Hurricanes. The trio didnt produce a goal. Nash scored in the opening round of the shootout, and rookie J.T.Miller fumbled his way to a goal in the third round to clinch the win. The 20-year-old Miller skated in slowly on DanEllis and briefly lost the puck before calmly gathering it and scoring from a tough angle near the goal line. Miller also had trouble with the move earlier in the season, but Tortorella felt confident about using him in another big spot. "He almost fanned again," Tortorella said. "He went so slow, I think he missed it about three or four times before he scored. It wasnt a great move, but you give him credit ... just to hold onto it and keep it and put it in the net." Carolina (15-11-2), tied in points with Winnipeg atop the Southeast Division, dropped its third straight (0-2-1). It was the Hurricanes first shootout this season. Lundqvist made 29 saves through overtime. Ellis stopped 35 shots in his third start since No. 1 goalie CamWard was injured March 3. "He gave us the opportunity to get a point," Hurricanes coach KirkMuller said of Ellis. "He made some real key saves, especially late." New York had a couple of close calls in the third period, including a chance in front by Gaborik. The Rangers also had the only power play in the third, the first time in six games they had more than two advantages in a game, but couldnt do anything with it. Carolina had only 13 shots after the first period. "We played a very strong first period but you saw them come out and match our intensity in the second," Ellis said. "They outworked us. This has happened a couple of times where we come out with a good start and then get off our game plan. Weve got to learn from it. Its starting to cost us." Injured Rangers defenceman MarcStaal watched from a suite high above the ice, watching his brothers Eric and Jordan, who are star forwards with the Hurricanes. MarcStaal missed his seventh game since he was struck in the right eye by a puck against Philadelphia on March 5. "I got a chance to visit with him last night and spent some time at his apartment," EricStaal said. "It was good to see him. Hes doing good." Stepan netted the elusive goal for the Rangers when he scored his eighth of the season at 11:06. Stepan spun around in front of Ellis and whipped a shot in after Callahan created the chance by charging the net and bumping into Ellis. The Rangers, beaten 3-0 Saturday in Pittsburgh, scored for the first time in 120 minutes, 55 seconds -- dating back two games to Callahans second-period goal in a loss at Winnipeg on Thursday. "The whole game, especially starting in the second period, we created a lot of chances," Gaborik said. "We were way better than we were in Pitt. This is a very important win for us to snap the losing streak and move forward to (Tuesday) nights game with confidence." New York couldnt forge the lead in the second, but the Rangers had a 15-4 edge in the period and 20-18 overall through 40 minutes. The Hurricanes had the better of the play in the first and turned that into the lead with 50.4 seconds left. EricStaal, who less than a minute earlier came out of the penalty box, took a cross-zone pass in the right circle from defenceman JoniPitkanen and fired a quick one-timer that beat Lundqvist for his 14th goal of the season. Staal had taken a goalie interference penalty when he was shoved into Lundqvist at 16:33, wiping out the final 47 seconds of a power play Carolina received when New York defenceman SteveEminger was called for interference. The Hurricanes didnt generate any shots on their first advantage, called just 24 seconds in, when Gaborik was whistled for tripping Staal in the offensive zone, but Carolina led 14-6 in first-period shots. NOTES: EricStaal has two goals and four assists during a five-game point streak. He has six goals and 10 assists in 12 games -- earning at least one point in 10. ... AlexanderSemin, who had the second assist on Staals goal, also has a five-game point streak. ... Stepan has a point in eight of 10 games, notching five goals and five assists in the spurt. ... MarcStaals brothers said he is waiting for facial fractures to heal and for his vision to fully return. He is hopeful of returning this season.Bo Jackson Jersey .ca in a 30 Teams In 30 Days tour of the NHL in preparation for the upcoming season. Lorenzo Cain Royals Jersey . "Its huge," Casey said of Torontos matchup with the fifth-place Hawks, who sit 1.5 games behind the Raptors for third place in the Eastern Conference. With the NHL having paid WayneGretzky the remaining funds owed to WayneGretzky from the Phoenix Coyotes, the rumours of his next NHL destination are in full swing. Nike Roshe Run Flyknit Schweiz . And theyre pointing to the NHLs biggest market: Toronto. With Gretzky paid out for what is believed to be $7 to 8 million, Gretzky may be eager to get back into the NHL and TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that the Maple Leafs are very much interested in The Great Ones services. But could it actually happen? Dreger spoke with TSN Radio 1050 Torontos MikeRichards this morning, stating that there is a fit between Gretzky and the Leafs. "There definitely is a possibility because there is some history here," Dreger told TSN Radio. "Prior to the start of the season I know that [Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO] Tim Leiweke and WayneGretzky and probably some legal people involved in this negotiation as well went back and forth and came very close until the deal broke down for a number of reasons that remain somewhat uncertain. The belief is that Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment wanted Gretzky at the time and still want him as almost an ambassador-type." However, MLSE doesnt see "ambassador-type" as merely a figure-head or spokesperson role, according to Dreger. "This isnt a token position," he told Richards. "They want to put him to work and they want to use him in different areas and not to pay specific attention to just the Toronto Maple Leafs." Dreger added that its not likely that Gretzky will be asked to fix the on-ice product of the Leafs. "Theyre happy with the work Dave Nonis is doing and dont want to interfere with the hockey operations department, but when youve got someone as [high] profile as WayneGretzky it makes a lot of sense, I suppose, to MLSE to do whatever you can to lure him in," he said. Gretzky and the Leafs have been linked by rumours throughout the year, including the off-season rumours as well as The Great One praising the young Leafs response to head coach Randy Carlyle in the first round of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins. "Its about believing in your system. The system starts with the head coach," Gretzky said of the Leafs following a gutsy Game 5 win over the Bruins. "Hes got tremendous credibility after winning a Stanley Cup himself [2007 in Anaheim]. Its not a question of players saying, Are we sure he knows what hes doing? Because theyre absolutely positive he knows what hes doing. The credibility starts right there with the coach." But would there be a fit between Gretzky and the team closest to his home town? Dreger thinks MLSE is at least willing to give it another try. "It didnt work out prior to the season but the sense I get is that therell be another attempt and I know that the Toronto Maple Leafs - or MLSE, as it were, as the bigger company is definitely worth listening to if youre WayneGretzky." Nike Roshe Run Hyperfuse . The story of the scoreless first period was Hurricanes goaltender CamWard, as the Jets outshot the Hurricanes 13-6 and had a number of grade A scoring chances, the best off the stick of BryanLittle. Nike Roshe Run Schweiz .C. -- Cameron Gaunce scored in overtime to lift the Texas Stars to a 4-3 win over the Abbotsford Heat in American Hockey League action Wednesday.A request by the Egyptian owner of Premier League team Hull City to change its name to Hull Tigers is set to be turned down by the English Football Association. The FA said Monday that its membership committee has recommended that the request be rejected following "consultation with stakeholders within and outside of the game." The recommendation has been passed to the FA council, which will vote on it at a meeting on April 9. Hull owner Assem Allam believes a name change will attract investors and boost the clubs marketing appeal abroad. In January, he threatened to quit if the FA turned down his request, saying: "No one on earth is allowed to question my business decisions. I wont allow it." Many Hull fans have reacted angrily to Allams controversial move, unhappy that it removes 109 years of tradition, and have made their feelings known in protests and chants during matches. Allam has injected about 75 million pounds ($125 million) into the club since 2010, when Hull was in the second-tier League Championship and on the brink of financial ruin. Nike Free 3.0 v5 Herren Schwarz. The team secured a surprise return to the Premier League last season but Allams desire for a name change has provoked fury among many fans as well as traditionalists in English football. The backlash intensified when Allam responded to supporters chants and banners of "City Till We Die" by telling a Sunday newspaper: "They can die as soon as they want, as long as they leave the club for the majority who just want to watch good football." Allam has said the word "City" in the name is "redundant" and "irrelevant," and that he would prove to be a trailblazer for clubs changing their names "to something more interesting." "City, Town, County: these are meaningless," he told The Guardian newspaper in September. "In marketing, the shorter the name, the more powerful think of Coca-Cola, Twitter, Apple." There was no immediate response from Hull or Allam to the decision of the FAs membership committee. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

BAGNERES-DE-LUCHON, France -- Riding in his 10th Tour de France, three-time world champion Michael Rogers of Australia finally got his first stage victory in cyclings greatest race on Tuesday by leading a breakaway group to a downhill finish as the pack entered the Pyrenees. jerseys from china . Italys Vincenzo Nibali, finishing about 8 1/2 minutes back, reined in his top challengers and retained the yellow jersey after Stage 16, the longest stage of this years race and the first of three days in the mountains on Frances border with Spain. Behind the Italian, the contest for podium places was shaken up: Thibaut Pinot of France rose to third in the standings, while compatriot Romain Bardet dropped to fifth. Tejay van Garderen of the United States lost more than 3 1/2 minutes, slipping from fifth to sixth and seeing his podium hopes dealt a serious blow. Rogers took a bow as he crossed the line alone after the 237.5-kilometre (147-mile) leg from Carcassonne to Bagneres-de-Luchon, which featured a tough climb up the mountain pass of Port de Bales. "Every cyclists dream is to win a stage at the Tour de France," said Rogers, who finished nine seconds ahead of Frances Thomas Voeckler -- who had won two previous Tour stages at Bagneres-de-Luchon in 2010 and 2012. "I cant describe the joy I felt in the last 500 metres ... I hope I dont have to wait another 10 years to experience it again." Rogers came close not to riding on this Tour for the Tinkoff-Saxo Bank team. In a ruling announced in April, the International Cycling Union accepted that meat Rogers ate in China last year probably caused his positive doping test at the Japan Cup shortly afterward. Rogers, a crucial teammate of two-time Tour champion Alberto Contador, convinced the UCI that he hadnt intended to cheat, and said the episode was "a very difficult time" for his family. Following the UCI ruling, Rogers said he came back with "a different outlook on life." "It was certainly a lesson in life for me," he added. "Sometimes you need a lesson in life to see the silver lining in the cloud." Rogers said he might not have had the opportunity to win a stage if Contador -- his team leader, who crashed out in Stage 10 -- were still racing because his job would have been more of a support rider. Now that the Spaniard is out, the team came up with a Plan B: To try for stage wins. "I can be grateful, but Im also very heartbroken that Albertos not here," Rogers said. As the day began, a breakaway group of 21 riders came together over the first two hours and stuck together for much of the day, chiseling out a lead of more than 12 minutes. But their unity began to disintegrate along the 12-kilometre Port de Bales climb, which is ranked Hors Categorie because the ascent is so tough that its considered beyond classification. In its steepest patch, the gradient reached 11 per cent. Rogers was in a bunch of five riders that came together in the final descent, and he stepped on the accelerator with less than 5 kilometres (3.2 miles) left. Before the stage, the Lampre-Merida team said world champion Rui Costa of Portugal would not start due to pneumonia. The Portuguese rider had been in 13th place, about 13 minutes behind Nibali. After Tuesdays ride, Nibali leads second-place Alejandro Valverde of Spain by 4 minutes, 37 seconds, and Pinot is 5:06 back. French veteran Jean-Christophe Peraud is fourth, at 6:08, and Bardet is 6:40 behind. Van Garderen, while only losing a notch in the standings, is 9:25 behind the race leader. Stage 16 was just an appetizer for the Pyrenees, with uphill finishes to follow on Wednesday and Thursday. Aside from a penultimate stage time trial, Stage 17 starting in Saint-Gaudens will be the shortest this year at 124.5 kilometres (77 miles). It features three hard Category 1 climbs, and an ascent to the Saint-Lary Pla dAdet ski station. The three-week race ends Sunday on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. wholesale nfl jerseys . "Its huge," Casey said of Torontos matchup with the fifth-place Hawks, who sit 1.5 games behind the Raptors for third place in the Eastern Conference. The showiest items on Calgarys lot were forwards MikeCammalleri and LeeStempniak. Both will be unrestricted free agents this summer. As college football prepares for the final Bowl Championship Series, featuring a Florida State-Auburn championship game, its easy to see why the coming four-team playoff wont solve all the post-season problems. Heck, we might just miss the BCS. Maybe? It sort of worked out this season. Top-ranked Florida State (13-0) was the only team to get through the regular season unbeaten, and the Seminoles did it in dominating fashion. Auburn (12-1) won the Southeastern Conference, and among the teams with imperfect records the Tigers resume is best. "We all complain about the BCS, but isnt it funny how often they get it right," Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. The pairings became official Sunday night when the final BCS standings came out. There was no question about 1 and 2. Itll be the Noles and Tigers at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 6 for the national championship. In the other marquee bowls: -- Alabama will play Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. -- Clemson will play Ohio State in the Orange Bowl. -- Michigan State will play Stanford in the Rose Bowl. -- Baylor will play UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. Of course, Big 12 champion Baylor (11-1) and Big Ten champion Michigan State (12-1) might argue with that top two. But over 16 seasons college football fans have built up what can be called BCS acceptance, learning to live with the fact that there is only room for two. Fans of particularly aggrieved teams (2000 Miami, 2004 Auburn, 2008 Texas, just to name a few) still burn over the slights. Generally, though, by the time the championship game kicked off, most everybody was on board. And only eight times before the BCS did No. 1 play No. 2 in a bowl game. "Its been a remarkable seismic change for this sport," executive director Bill Hancock said. "That was unthinkable before the BCS." Now think about this season playing out under next seasons format. In the new world order known as the College Football Playoff, a selection committee will pick four teams to play in national semifinals. The winners play for the championship. So how would a panel that includes Tom Osborne, Archie Manning and Condoleezza Rice sort out this seasons top four? Florida State and Auburn, of course. And ... Baylor and Michigan State? But what about Pac-12 champion Stanford (11-2)? Sure the Cardinal have two losses, but as Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said Saturday at the end of a week in which he and the rest of the SEC practically begged voters to overlook the number in the loss column and focus on quality of opposition: "I have nine words. nfl jerseys china. Strength of schedule. Strength of schedule. Strength of schedule." Among this seasons best teams, Stanford played the toughest schedule. And then there is two-time defending champion Alabama (11-1). "Were not a natural playoff sport," said Duke coach David Cutcliffe, who was the offensive co-ordinator at Tennessee when it won the first BCS championship game against Florida State in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl. "I think we can make this work with four. "And the reason I think well make this work is I think what were all going to find out is the arguments are going to get bigger. Were going to go from a few schools being angry to a lot of schools being angry, and maybe thats going to be a good thing. I just want to be in the argument." Florida State showed Cutcliffe how far away Duke is from being in the argument in a 45-7 victory Saturday night in the Atlantic Coast Conference title game. In a season defined by blowouts, the only drama for Florida State came off the field, when quarterback Jameis Winston was investigated for sexual assault. The state attorney said there was not enough evidence to charge the redshirt freshman with a crime two days before the Seminoles played Duke. Winston is the runaway favourite to win the Heisman Trophy next Saturday. Auburn completed its worst-to-first run with a 59-42 victory in the Southeastern Conference championship game against Missouri. The Tigers didnt win a conference game last season. "This time last year, we were home, hanging out watching other guys play ball," running back Tre Mason said. "Thats not really what you want to be doing." Mason ran for 304 yards and four TDs against Mizzou to make a late Heisman push of his own. The Tigers have had some good fortune, including improbable plays to beat Georgia and Alabama. That left Auburn to try to extend the SECs BCS championship game winning streak to eight games against the school that played for the first three BCS titles under Bobby Bowden. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ORLANDO, Fla. Phil Loadholt Vikings Jersey . -- San Francisco receiver AnquanBoldins foundation is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the players union for winning the Byron "Whizzer" White Award. The award is given to the player who serves his team, community and country in the spirit of Byron Raymond "Whizzer" White, the late Supreme Court justice the NFL Players Association calls "a scholar, athlete, patriot, humanitarian and public servant -- the personification of the ideal to which professional football players aspire." An 11-year veteran and four-time Pro Bowler with Arizona, Baltimore and San Francisco, Boldins Q81 Foundation mission is to expand the educational and life opportunities of underprivileged youth. The foundation begins its 10th year in April and has conducted charitable activities in Phoenix, Baltimore, South Florida and most recently in San Francisco. Perrish Cox 49ers Jersey . And when it comes to overall depth, I dont believe that there has ever been a class as impressive as 2008. 28 of the 48 players chosen (58.3%) were still active CFLers as of the end of the 2012 season. The Day in 100 Words or Less The World Cup keeps on giving. It was the day that gave us one of the finest World Cup finishes in history. A day that showed off FIFAs fancy goal-line technology tool, saw a French talisman get the start he desperately needed in Brazil and saw Honduras kick out at anything they could. Ultimately, though, the days most defining image was a smiling Lionel Messi celebrating with thousands of Argentina fans inside the famous Maracana. Argentina 2-1 Bosnia-Herzegovina - It will be remembered as the day Lionel Messi scored his first World Cup goal in eight years. - Let the record books state that the ball went in the net at the 64:29 mark. Fifty-five seconds before that he blasted a free kick over the bar and sections of the stadium booed him. - Twenty minutes earlier Twitter buried him. Yes, his first half was average but so was Argentinas, strangely sent out in a 5-3-2 shape that gave absolutely zero width. - What it did do was make Argentina more defensive and although they were better in the second half it is clear how they ended this game that their coach is still nowhere near comfortable playing a back four. - Alejandro Sabella changed it at half-time unleashing Argentina with Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuain making them look more like their normal selves in a 4-3-3 shape. - Argentina were better in the second half but far from great. It was, then, a night about Messi, inside one of the worlds most famous stadiums, where a goal finally lifted some of the nonsense pressure that has piled on his shoulders in the build-up to this competition. - To understand the brilliance of the goal it is important to show why Messi struggled to penetrate and Bosnia-Herzegovina played a substantial part in that. Messi drops deep and wants to drive with the ball, keep close control of the ball, take more touches than most when dribbling and use team-mates to help him glide into danger zones. He excels better when starting slightly right of centre and moving inside on his left. Opponents know this and Bosnia-Herzegovinas plan in the first half was to allow Messi space to run into but centrally. Too often Messi picked up the ball deep, had no outlets to combine with and saw a defensive structure in front of him that forced him to only go straight. On the goal things changed. Both subs, Higuain and Gago, came deep to combine and then, importantly, ran on when giving it to Messi as he receives the ball... Messi then got to penetrate and have Higuain to play off, dragging defenders towards the Napoli striker... Then Messi had them where he wanted them, able to dribble into space laterally before shooting brilliantly to make it 2-0. - Argentina would win 2-1 and have many question marks about their World Cup credentials but, at this stage, that is better than peaking really early which is something they have done in recent World Cups. Switzerland 2-1 Ecuador - "The World Cups first draw of the tournament served up another tasty dish." ... That was supposed to be my opening line from this game. How naive of me to write it before a game had ended in Brazil. I should know better by now. - On day four, in the ninth game of the World Cup, we saw another team come from behind and win a match for the fifth time! It happened just four times in 64 games in South Africa. - The drama took place in the 93rd minute. Switzerland were on the ropes, Ecuador had been the better team and rather than sit deep and take a crucial point they sensed a weakness they could take advantage of. Their wide players were excellent, particularly Jefferson Montero and Walter Ayovi who dominated down the left in the final third attacks. - It was, however, on the other flank that started a phenomenal minute of football and when Antonio Valencia charged down the right flank in the final minute, Swiss fans held their breath. Valon Behramis brilliant tackle and then surge into the opponents half started yet another counter-attack. He was cynically fouled but the ref played advantage. Ecuador were now the ones on the ropes, they allowed him to be fouled and pick up the ball unchallenged and as they labored back thhe Swiss switched the play to the left and the excellent Ricardo Rodriguez. Jamar Taylor Dolphins Jersey. . The Wolfsburg dangerman sent in another good cross and a second substitute for the Swiss scored as Haris Seferovics tap in got millions around the globe out of their chairs. - It was a massive goal in the context of this group. Taking a point, with France next, after an average performance would have been very concerning for Ottmar Hitzfelds team. They were outplayed by the South Americans for large stretches of this game and uncharacteristically were far more open than the coach would have wanted. However, a win now sets them to have a shot at winning this group and being paired with Group F in the next round that means Switzerlands dream of making the last eight is a real possibility. - For now, though, the real winner was the sport. This was the perfect scenario for two teams to sit deep and play out for a draw as the second half played out. That didnt happen and it was another game to watch with a huge smile on your face. France 30 Honduras - We have had a bit of everything so far in the World Cup. This game gave us some brutality and a first real look at the goal-line technology system at this tournament. - What worked: the ball hit the post and was bundled over the line when goalkeeper Noel Valladares attempted to keep it out. - What confused people: the system first showed the ball not going over the line and no goal came up on the screen seen around the world. Many thought that was the end of it but seconds later it showed the next area of concern that revealed the ball was over the line. - What people need to learn: It was not FIFA or anyones fault that the system first of all said no goal. It is designed to check borderline calls on the line and it took just a second to ensure it wasnt in. Those who got confused and jumped to the wrong conclusion (of which they were many) simply need to be more patient with the system. - What cannot happen next time: it took close to two minutes and 35 seconds from the moment the ball went in to them kicking off again. This is far from ideal and the game does not benefit when a referee has to come over and explain to a teams bench that you cannot argue against technology. Whenever anything is new and is used for the first time it is always going to confuse some. The key thing is the right decision was made. When we are all old and in a pub ahead of the 2054 World Cup just remember what you saw today because it will be on the quiz. - As for the game, the butchers from Honduras were out of their depth and proved to be a perfect foe for a French team looking to draw a line from their qualification playoff. Man of the Day Nominees: Ricardo Rodriguez It has been a World Cup where young, impressive fullbacks have got the attention they deserve. Bundesliga fans wont be surprised at just how good he was against Ecuador. Jefferson Montero Another performance like that and he will be back playing in Europe in no time. Karim Benzema France can go a long way in this tournament but they need their main striker on form and he was excellent against Honduras. Lionel Messi It wasnt a classic performance but he was the headline-maker in Brazil on this day. Muhamed Besic the 21-year-old midfielder was excellent against Argentina, drifting in between the lines and causing Javier Mascherano many problems. The winner: Karim Benzema - French football has waited for some time for him to step up and carry them forward. Eight goals in his last seven internationals, after a woeful early qualifying campaign, means the Real Madrid man is dangerously in-form at the right time. What Comes Next? Germany vs. Portugal Noon et/9am pt, Iran vs. Nigeria 3pm et/Noon pt, Ghana vs. USA 6pm et/3pm pt. Burning Question for Tomorrow Can Portugal play as well as they did in the Euro 2012 opener against Germany and this time ensure the result matches their performance? Key Stat of Day 4 Through the first 11 games of this World Cup, 10 games have had three goals or more. Through the first 11 games of World Cup 2010, only one saw three goals or more. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

The Anaheim Ducks open the playoffs as the Wests top seed and hope to get a quick start on Wednesday when they host the Dallas Stars at the Honda Center for Game 1 of a best-of-seven series. Adam Jones Orioles Jersey . You can catch all of the action live on TSN with coverage beginning at 9:30pm et/6:30pm pt. Few teams looked as unbeatable as the Ducks at the start of the season. But after a dominating effort for a good part of the season, Anaheim started to slip a bit heading into the Olympic break and had posted a mark of just 14-12-3 during a 29-game span from Jan. 17-April 6. The Ducks then capped the regular season with four straight victories, but presumed playoff starter JonasHiller was not in net for any of those games. Hiller, in fact, did not play in seven of Anaheims final eight games and has not won since March 26. Still, head coach Bruce Boudreau is likely to go with Hiller over the inexperienced FrederikAndersen and JohnGibson, neither of whom have ever played in an NHL playoff game. Hillers postseason numbers are not terrible, with the 32-year-old pending free agent having gone 10-10 with a 2.31 goals against average, .935 save percentage and three shutouts in 20 games. Given the fact that the Ducks led the NHL with 3.21 goals per game this season, Boudreau may be able to roll the dice with Hiller and hope the netminder can recapture the form that saw him post a club-record 14-game winning streak from Dec. 6-Jan. 12. Forward CoreyPerry was second in the league with 43 goals to go along with a plus-32 rating, while center RyanGetzlaf finished fifth in the NHL with 56 assists and second to only Pittsburghs SidneyCrosby in points with 87. Ducks winger TeemuSelanne is expected to retire at seasons end and the 43- year-old could have some extra juice for this postseason. He comes into the series having totaled 42 goals and 82 points in 118 career playoff games. "This is the best time for hockey players," Selanne said. "Youve got to enjoy every day and every moment. Every little thing matters. Even a little thing can turn the whole series around." The Stars overhauled their identity this past offseason in an effort to reach the postseason for the first time since 2008. It worked. Under the guidance of first-year coach Lindy Ruff and offensive threat TylerSeguin, the Stars claimed the Western Conferences second wild card position. Sure, they got some help from a slumping Phoenix Coyotes club, which had lost seven straight before beating the Stars in a meaningless regular-season finale, and Dallas did just enough by going 3-4-0 down the stretch, but the results are in the bottom line. And what a line it was for Seguin, who the Stars acquired this past offseason from the Boston Bruins. The 22-year-old brought rumors of immaturity with him to Dallas, but with the Stars all he did was show the skill that led to him being the second overall pick of the 2010 draft. Seguin led Dallas across the board with 37 goals, 47 assists and 84 points -- all career highs -- and now brings 42 games of playoff experience to the Stars. Seguin has six goals and 12 assists in the postseason and was part of the Cup- winning 2010-11 Bruins club. His presence also helped Stars captain JamieBenn soar to new heights. The winger set new career highs with 34 goals, 45 assists and 79 points in 81 games, and the duo of Seguin and Benn was a big reason that the Stars finished 10th in the NHL with 2.82 goals per game. Six other Dallas skaters reached double figures in goals, including RyanGarbutt (17 goals) and CodyEakin and ErikCole, who had 16 goals apiece. Rookies ValeriNichushkin (10th overall pick of the 2010 draft) and AlexChiasson also were steady contributors and Dallas has veteran depth in RayWhitney and ShawnHorcoff. Defensively, AlexGoligoski had an excellent campaign, with his 42 points a career high and his best total since logging 37 points with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009-10. However, inexperience could be an issue in net with No. 1 KariLehtonen, who owns just two career playoff games to his resume and none since 2006-07 with the Atlanta Thrashers. He was solid this regular season, going 33-20-10 with a 2.41 goals against average and .919 save percentage. Should Lehtonen struggle early, Ruff will have the option of going to veteran TimThomas, acquired at this years trade deadline. Thomas didnt wow in eight games with Dallas, but has outstanding playoff numbers at 29-21 with a 2.07 GAA, .933 save percentage and six shutouts. Of course, he also won the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy with Boston in 2011. The Stars won two of their three meetings with the Ducks this season, with the clubs exchanging 6-3 home victories before Dallas claimed a 2-0 win at Anaheim on Feb. 1. Lehtonen did not face the Ducks this season and is 9-7-3 with a 2.41 GAA against them in 19 career meetings. Hiller went 0-2 with a 3.91 GAA in three meetings this season, pulled in the first meeting in Anaheim back on Oct. 20. "We know them well and we?ve had some success against them," said Goligoski. "Theyre fast and theyre a bigger team, and they obviously had a great season. Were looking forward to the challenge." This marks the third all-time playoff meeting between these clubs and first since the Stars bested the Ducks in six games during the 2008 Western Conference quarterfinals. That avenged a six-game series loss to Anaheim in the 2003 semifinals. Anaheim also will host Game 2 of this series on Friday. The Ducks were 29-8-4 as the home team this season, while Dallas was just 17-20-4 as the visitors. Open on Wednesday as he recovers from back surgery that has kept him out of golf for nearly three months. The Pittsburgh Penguins dealt a top scoring winger, improving their forward depth in the process. Numbers Game breaks down the trade sending JamesNeal to Nashville for PatricHornqvist and NickSpaling. The Predators Get: RW JamesNeal. Neal, 26, is a power forward who has been riding high while playing on EvgeniMalkins wing for the bulk of his time in Pittsburgh. Over the past three seasons, he has scored 88 goals, which ranks fifth, behind AlexOvechkin, StevenStamkos, CoreyPerry and PhilKessel. Hes also put up dominant possession stats, but a lot of that would figure to be related to the favourable ice time that he gets with Malkin. While the Predators are aiming to get more scoring in their game, they dont nearly have the playmakers to compare with Pittsburgh, so if Neal ends up playing with MikeFisher, ColinWilson or CalleJarnkrok, none of them is particularly dominant offensively, so expect Neals production to dip. The question is, how far? Before he joined the Penguins, Neal had 131 points in 214 games with the Dallas Stars, a 50-point pace over an 82-game season. That should be about the baseline, with room to move up because Neal currently is a better player than he was from age 21 to 23, but we can also keep in mind that Neal has scored more than 60 points twice in his career. Neal is signed for four more years, at a cap hit of $5-million per season, so hes a reasonably-priced first line forward for the Predators. The Penguins Get: RW PatricHornqvist and LW NickSpaling. Hornqvist is a 27-year-old winger who has been one of the more prolific shooters in the game over the past five seasons. Hes a four-time 20-goal scorer who is most effective right around the crease, deflecting shots and knocking in rebounds. He played primarily with MikeFisher last season (with ColinWilson and MattCullen their most common linemates) and while that line was effective -- Hornqvists relative possession stats have always been really good --- its not quite as dynamic as what opportunities Hornqvist should have in Pittsburgh. Avisail Garcia White Sox Jersey. If Neal is expected to see his scoring go down as a result of this trade, naturally Hornqvist should expect an uptick in his scoring numbers. He scored a career-high 53 points last season and while his on-ice shooting percentage was a career-best, it wasnt outrageous and is still below what is typical for wingers alongside Malkin or Crosby. Signed for four more years, at a cap hit of $4.25-million, Hornqvist comes a little cheaper than Neal, but not dramatically, so the Penguins have to expect that they are not going to lose much offensively. Spaling, 25, scored a career-best 32 points last season, playing a career-high 16:01 per game, and while he may not play quite as much in Pittsburgh, the hope is that he might help the Penguins bottom six forwards. However, Spalings possession stats have been rough for most of his time in Nashville, which doesnt suggest that hell be turning the tide on his own. A restricted free agent who earned $1.5-million last season, Spaling is looking at a raise, but the Penguins are probably not in position to give him a lot more money, but they need Spaling to give them more reliable minutes on the third line. It didnt come as a massive surprise that the Penguins moved Neal -- it has been rumoured as a possibility for some time -- but the return may be something of a surprise. The Penguins didnt save a bunch of money; rather, they found a couple of forwards with the hope that will help improve their depth up front. They sacrificed the most talented player in the deal, though, and that presents a certain amount of risk, particularly if Hornqvist doesnt produce at the same level. For a Nashville team that is making a concerted effort towards a more offensive style, Neal is a big addition, well worth the price they paid. Denny Morrison is having the Olympics of a lifetime. Mens Nike Air Max 95 Shoes Grey/Dark Grey/Black/Blue . Three days after taking silver in the mens 1,000-metre long track speed skating event at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Morrison has added a bronze to his cabinet, this time in the 1,500 metres on Saturday. "Its been a long road with a lot of persistence and its finally paid off," an elated Morrison told CBC Sports after the race. Morrison, skating 15th of 20 pairs, capitalized on a strong opening lap to lay down a time of one minute, 45.22 seconds, and was the leader until Polands Zbigniew Brodka topped it for gold in 1:45.00. "What Ive found [in 1,500-metre races] is that I cant go out slow and conservative and try to beat the other guys who finish strong, I have to go out my way go out fast, and just hang on," Morrison said. "And I was able to hang on just enough." There was more drama to come in the final pairing. Dutch skater Koen Verweij finished in a dead heat with Brodka, crossing the line in 1:45.00 as well. When the times were adjusted, Brodka ended up with the gold medal, a mere three thousandths of a second ahead. But it also meant that Morrison had his medal, after an agonizing wait to see if any of the 10 skaters after him could take his place on the podium. "It is [excruciating], you already want to puke," he said. "Youre already so tired and hurting, but man does it feel good to win [a medal]." Mathieu Giroux of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Que., finished in 19th in 1:47.65. Lukas Makowsky of Regina placed 28th in a time of 1:48.51. Teenager Vincent de Haitre of Cumberland, Ont., was 33rd in 1:49.42. Morrisons bronze puts Canadas medal count at 12, with four gold, five silver, and three bronze. Morrison, Giroux and Makowsky are expected to compete in the team pursuit event next week, as they attempt to defend their gold medal from the Vancouver Olympics. Morrisons efforts have been one of the highlights of the Olympics so far for Canada. Not even scheduled to compete in the 1,000-metres after falling in the event at the Canadian trials, Morrison was given a spot in the race thanks to teammate Gilmore Junio, who gave up his. The Fort St. John, B.C., native fully took advantage of the opportunity, taking silver in the 1,000 metres behind Stefan Groothuis of the Netherlands. Defending Olympic champion Mark Tuitert of the Netherlands finished fifth. American Shani Davis continued his disappointing 2014 Olympic campaign with an 11th-place finish. Canada now has two medals in long track, both from Morrison. The Dutch team has dominated the proceedings at Adler Arena, taking four gold and 13 medals so far in only seven races, matching the record set by East Germany in the 1988 Games in Calgary. With five long track events still remaining, the Netherlands will likely surpass that mark in the coming days. To compare, the other nations have eight long track medals combined. Its a big turnaround for the Dutch team from their Vancouver effort in long track, where it finished well below expectations with three gold and only seven medals total. New Balance Classics WL574-Stadium Jacket Womens Shoes Grey . Its been a successful Games for Canada, which will finish near the top of the medal standings again. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Jim Rice Authentic Jersey .ca. Hi Kerry, What are your thoughts on the NHLs recommended rule changes from Monday? Do you think theres a way to make goaltender interference - or other on-ice rulings - more clear by going to video review? Does video review help the officials on the ice or take some of the decision making away from them? Which of the recommended rule changes do you think can really help the stripes in a game? Steve Wishie, Toronto Thank you for submitting these very important questions following the competition committee meeting that took place on Monday in New York. The General Managers will be convening sometime in the very near future to discuss these issues. Since it would appear there was little or no input from a knowledgeable officiating mind in attendance, I wish to address the General Managers directly with the following comments specifically related to implementing an expanded video review. I had the pleasure of developing a professional working relationship with each of you; in some cases that relationship began during your playing career and prior to your move into the role of general manager. While it is safe to say that we didnt or wont always agree, please know that I have great respect for the knowledge and care for the game that each of you demonstrates. Having been on that goal-line far too many times to count during my 30-plus year NHL officiating career I know, better than most, the demands, expectations and difficulties that the current crop of referees are experiencing. Goalkeeper interference is the most difficult decision that any referee has to make. The referees, like no time ever before, require your most thoughtful assistance to equip them with the necessary tools to achieve success and uphold the integrity of the game. The time has now come to step outside of any traditional comfort zone and implement video review technology that is available to the rest of us that watch the game on a television monitor, but who are not charged with making a split second decision on these potentially game changing plays. Based on MathieuSchneiders quote below it would appear that the expectation of "certainty" must be met in order for video review to be expanded beyond the current allowances contained within the rules. "I think the underlying fundamental here is that if youre going to go to video review in a given area, there is the expectation of certainty," said MathieuSchneider, the NHLPAs special assistant to the executive director. "And its just not there. Its very difficult. The type of things that were talking about, a possible coachs challenge, are things that we might be able to be certain on. But theres still a ton of grey area." I would respectfully submit that language contained throughout the rule book provides the referee(s) with the authority and latitude to exercise his individual judgment in the enforcement of the rules. Phrases such as "In the judgment of the Referee; There is an enormous amount of judgment involved in the application of this rule by the Referees; The Referee, "at his discretion" may assess; The Referees are provided very wide latitude in the penalties with which they may impose under this rule; The discretion provided (to the Referees) should be exercised realistically" The referees do not apply a mathematical equation to problem solving. Instead, with your direction provided to them as to the expected standard of enforcement, the referees exercise their individual judgment to try and make the "correct call" from a position and vantage point that they occupy on the ice in that moment. This does not always achieve "certainty" and the referees perception of the play can quickly be changed if he is provided with a different angle or more precisely through video review. The current process and follow-up protocol of a conference conducted by the four on-ice officials (when utilized) does not achieve any "certainty" that the correct call is ultimately made. Gentlemen, one of the challenges that await you at your next meeting is to achieve some consensus among your group as to what actually constitutes a violation of rule 69goalkeeper interference? Based on another quote following the competition committee meeting you have your work cut out for you. Even the Game 2 situation brought what Schneider called a "split room" on whether it should have counted or not. "Theres a lot of instances where you have two reasonable people looking at the same video and have two different interpretations, and goalie interference is certainly one of those," Schneider said. "I think the education process is whats going to be most important for the officials, for the players, and I think Colin alluded to, we want to maybe err on the side of the goalie more often. Well, thats the direction we have to give to the officials. "The education process is going to be key. And to have certain telltale signs." Your room cannot be "split" on this crucial issue of players interfering with the goaltender. The players and officials are in need of more concrete direction. Empowering the referee to take a second look at a play with a quick video review, perhaps through a coachs challenge, will help improve these game altering decisions. I also agree that "the education process is going to be "key". The officiating brotherhood can never stop learning, evolving or improving. Give them the tools they need to develop better positioning philosophies so that they consistently know where to go when a player is coming at them or where to go to find the best site line to the goal. A well officiated game is also incumbent upon the utilization of a referees sound judgment. He cannot be stripped of that yet again by a non-official making the call for him from an off-site location. The referees want to get the call right! The couple of minutes it will take for the referee to review the suspected presence of goalkeeper interference, along with some good coaching, will lead to a new age of officiating. Ted Williams Jersey . As the Toronto Argonauts prepare to face their hated enemies from down the QEW, the Hamilton Tiger Cats, in this Sundays Eastern Final, theyre faced with something they havent experienced all season - a healthy receiving corps. Yoenis Cespedes Red Sox Jersey . He earned a couple days off. Johnson had three hits, including his third homer in two days, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs 10-7 on Sunday to keep pace with Washington at the top of the NL East.MIAMI -- Outfought for a late rebound by DwyaneWade, a grinning LeBronJames chided his teammate as they ran upcourt. With the game in hand, the Miami Heat could worry about individual stats. Wade and James had handsome numbers in Mondays 102-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons. James totalled 24 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, just missing the Heats first triple-double of the season. Wade scored 30 points, his best total since Dec. 18 in an injury-hampered season, and he added a season-high 10 rebounds and five assists. James, who has come close to a triple-double several times this season, was blanked in the rebound department down the stretch. When Wade snatched one away from him with 4 minutes left, he heard about it from his taller teammate. "D-Wade knew what he had going on, too," James said. "He was like, I need this double-double. He had a heck of a game. He was spectacular." Wade pleaded guilty to being briefly motivated by getting his first double-double of the season. "I was going for a double-double," he said with a laugh. "Sorry." Heat guard RayAllen also outmanoeuvred James for a rebound in the final minutes, which left James muttering to the Heat bench. James finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double for the third time this season, and another time he came within two assists. "Hes working on the all-time record for near misses on triple-doubles," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Its not meant for it to happen this year," James said with a chuckle. "My own guys got me. But a win is what its about, and Im happy we played well for most of the game." Wade, who sat out four consecutive games last month to rest his troublesome knees, looked rejuvenated. He shot 13 for 19 and played 37 minutes, his fifth-highest total this season. "That rest did him well," teammate ChrisBosh said. "He has a lot of spring in his legs. When he plays well, were a tough team to beat." Bosh scored 17 points to help Miami win for the fifth time in six games. Allens bbuzzer-beating 3-pointer put the Heat up 84-80 after three periods, and they pulled away from there. Jim Rice Red Sox Jersey. Wades 3-pointer put them ahead by 13 points for the first time, 98-85. BrandonJennings had 26 points and seven assists for the Pistons, who trailed almost the entire game and took it badly. They were called for four technical fouls. "We can get upset with them, but you have to learn how to deal with it," coach Maurice Cheeks said. "When youre on the road, you have to learn to forget about whats going on." GregMonroe had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Detroit, which lost despite forcing 20 turnovers and holding an edge of 51-44 in rebounds. "We just fell short," said JoshSmith, who shot only 5 for 20. "They are the world champs, so we have to play almost perfect." The Heat, who began the week three games behind Eastern Conference leader Indiana, started strong and scored 13 points before they missed a shot. From 41-all, James and Wade teamed up for back-to-back fast-break baskets. The second came when Wade fed MarioChalmers, whose alley-oop over the hoop perfectly led an airborne James for a one-handed throw-down dunk. "The way it came out of Rios hand, I didnt think I was going to get it," James said. "But I tried, and the man above has given me some unbelievable abilities. I just try to take full advantage of them." James also tweaked his left shoulder and right hand, and was called for committing a foul with his face when he became entangled with Monroe. WillBynums four-point play put the Pistons up 48-47, but that was their last lead. Miami went on a 14-2 run near the end of the half and led 63-57 at halftime. BOSTON -- A dominant first period gave the Chicago Blackhawks plenty of momentum. Jerry Rice 49ers Jersey . Then it disappeared. Theyve come to Boston to find it and get the upper hand over the Bruins in a very tight Stanley Cup final series. "I guess the main thing is to always keep it simple," Chicagos PatrickKane said Sunday soon after arriving at the arena where he hopes to do that. "If you can do that, usually you can take away some of their momentum. I think right now they do have it, especially after the last overtime period where it seemed like they had a lot of chances compared to ours." Chicago outshot Boston 19-4 in the first period and led 1-0 in Game 2 on Saturday night. But the Bruins held a 24-15 lead the rest of the way and won 2-1 in overtime to even the series at one game apiece. The team that scored first also lost the opener. Boston led 2-0 and 3-1 then allowed two goals in the last 12 minutes of regulation. Chicago went on to win 4-3 in three overtimes. "Might be an unusual stat," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said, "but theres nothing wrong with scoring first." The Bruins physical play might have taken its toll. They outhit the Blackhawks 50-34 and dominated overtime. "Im used to getting hit back there quite a lot," Chicago defenceman NiklasHjalmarsson said. "I know how to take a hit or two. I think for the most (part) we might not be the most physical D corps in the league, but were trying to move the puck quick. Sometimes you have to take a good hit to deliver a pass." Any momentum Chicago gained by winning Game 1 carried over into Game 2 despite two days between games. The Blackhawks started aggressively, pressuring goalie TuukkaRask and stifling the Bruins offence with tight checking. "We played a perfect first period there," Quenneville said. "In the second, we were going along fine, too, but I thought we slowed down a little bit in that period." The Blackhawks have struggled on the power play throughout the playoffs, and their inability to score after Bostons JohnnyBoychuk was penalized for holding at 8:15 of the second period may have turned the momentum in the Bruins favour. Less than seven minutes later, ChrisKelly tied the game with his first goal of the post-season. "On the power play, if youre not going to score, you always want to at least build momentum somehow by getting chances," Kane said. "You see with special teams in this playoffs, you can either get a lot of momentum off a big (penalty) kill or some momentum off a good power play or scoring a goal on the power play. "Our penalty kills been great all year, to the point where weve won a lot of games because of it. Its given us a lot of momentum. It would be nice to see the power play return that." The Blackhawks are scoreless in six power play opportunities against the Bruins and in 14 over their last five games. Theyve scored just once in the last 24 times theyve had the extra skater. "Theres not a lot of high-quality chances" when the teams are at even strength, Quenneville said. "Weve got to look to maybe simplify it and play anything at the net. "The pretty plays arent there. If we think the pretty plays are there with power plays, they evaporate quickly." Just like momentum. In a series in which both teams take extra care to play disciplined hockey and avoid risks that could lead to costly mistakes, all it takes is one play -- a big hit, an intercepted pass, a goal -- for control to shift from one team to the other. "We got away from what made us successful in the first period" Saturday night, Quenneville said. "You know your opponents are going to get their turn." Dwight Freeney Chargers Jersey .Y. - Forbes ranks the New York Yankees as baseballs most valuable team for the 17th straight year and lists the Tampa Bay Rays with the lowest valuation. Michael Roos Titans Jersey . 2 Ohio State to a 64-35 drubbing of Texas-Pan American on Saturday. Buckeyes sophomore forward Jared Sullinger missed the game with back spasms, but that didnt stop Ohio State (8-0), as Deshaun Thomas dropped 11 points to go with five rebounds, while Scott Shannon and Jordan Sibert contributed seven points apiece.CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- AlJefferson laughed when told he finished three stitches shy of a triple-double. "I have to call my agent because Im done with my modeling career," Jefferson said. Jefferson had seven stitches in the first half to repair a gash above his right eye, but returned to finish with 19 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Bobcats overcome an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit and defeat Washington 100-94 Monday night. The win prevented the Wizards from clinching their first playoff berth since 2008. Jeffersons put back off an offensive rebound with 3:30 left in the game helped the Bobcats take the lead for good at 93-92. KembaWalker had a big second half, finishing with 21 points and 10 assists, and rookie CodyZeller scored a career-high 15 points on 4-of-4 shooting and added eight rebounds for Charlotte. Walker scored nine points in the final quarter and the Bobcats erased a 16-point halftime deficit and pulled within two games of the Washington in the race for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs Both teams have eight games left and will meet again on April 9. "We made big shots and played well defensively in the second half and really came together as a team," Walker said. "It shows our resiliency. That was a big win for us." BradleyBeal had 20 points for the Wizards, who missed 11 of their last 14 shots from the field. "It (stinks) man," Washingtons AlHarrington said of not clinching a playoff spot. "Because obviously we played a great first half. We really thought tonight was our night, but to have them come out and play the way that they played and beat us -- thats tough." Washington still would have clinched a playoff spot if the Utah Jazz had defeated New York later Monday, but the Knicks won 92-83. The Wizards (38-36) came in looking to snap the third-longest playoff drought in the NBA -- and for a while it looked like they would. The Wizards shot 59 per cent in the first half, at one point hitting 10 straight shots from the field and scoring on 14 of 15 possessions to close the first half on a 30-7 run. The Bobcats could do little right in what Jefferson called an "embarrassing" first half. But he was confident they would battle back. Cam Thomas Steelers Jersey. . Jefferson walked to the scorers table at the start of the third quarter and told whoever was in earshot, "Hey, watch this comeback." "Everyone looked at me like I was crazy," Jefferson said. "At the end of the game though people were pointing at me saying, You said it. You said it." Charlottes defence was the big difference. Coach Steve Clifford also went to a pick-and-roll with Walker and Jefferson. "The Wizards did a good job of taking away the post," Clifford said. The momentum turned four minutes into the fourth quarter when Walker came up with the loose ball off a Washington turnover and fed ChrisDouglas-Roberts for a fast-break layup in traffic with 7:38 left in the game. Douglas-Roberts had to adjust in midair to get his body from one side of the rim to the other to avoid defenders and get the shot to drop. Douglas-Roberts made a 3-point play and then knocked down a long-distance 3 to cut the lead to one before Jeffersons put back gave the Bobcats the lead for good. Jefferson hit a 16-footer to push the lead to three. Walker followed with a backbreaker when he scored on a driving layup to make it 97-92 after a Bobcats possession that took more than a minute off the clock. Charlotte twice came up with key offensive rebounds, allowing Walker to bring the ball back out and reset the offence and milk time off the clock. "When you give a team two to three looks one time down the floor, theyre going to make one," said Wizards forward DrewGooden. "I would say we lost the game giving them second and third possessions offensively." Jefferson left the game briefly at the end of the first quarter to head to the locker room to get the stitches above his right eye after taking an inadvertent elbow from TrevorBooker. "I had to get a shot to numb it and I hate needles," Jefferson said. NOTES: GaryNeal returned to action for the Bobcats after missing two games with an ankle injury. He had nine points ...
