OAKLAND, Calif. Bruce Bochy Giants Jersey . -- Golden State Warriors backup centre JermaineONeal is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist Friday. The team said a timetable for ONeals return will be announced following the procedure, which threatens to end his season -- and possibly his career. The 35-year-old ONeal is in his 18th NBA season and has had previous knee and wrist surgeries. The Warriors said ONeals latest operation is "to address a torn ligament in his right wrist." ONeal has appeared in 17 games this season, averaging 6.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 18.6 minutes. Hes the third reserve centre for Golden State to have surgery this year. FestusEzeli is expected to be out until at least late January while he recovers from right knee surgery. And OgnjenKuzmic will be sidelined at least another four weeks after fracturing a bone in his right hand. Mel Ott Authentic Jersey . The 42-year-old Britons sentence was reduced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday because of the entrapment tactics by the Sun on Sunday newspaper in meetings set up in January and February. Barry Bonds Giants Jersey . The All-Star point guard, sidelined for the past six months with a knee injury, was set to return to the Oklahoma City Thunder lineup for Sunday nights home game against the Phoenix Suns, weeks earlier than expected. In a rematch of last years all-Spanish final, eight-time champion Rafael Nadal once again beat David Ferrer, while another quarterfinal on Wednesday saw Andy Murray hold off French crowd favorite Gael Monfils at Roland Garros. The world No. 1 Nadal improved to 64-1 lifetime at the French Open with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1 victory over his fifth-seeded compatriot Ferrer on Court Lenglen. The match started late in the day after a three-hour rain delay prevented the ladies from taking to the famed clay courts at Chatrier and Lenglen on Day 11. Nadals semifinal opponent on Friday will be the seventh-seeded Wimbledon champion Murray, who outlasted the 23rd-seeded Monfils 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6, 6-0 on Chatrier. After rolling past four unseeded players, Nadal faced his first big test at the 2014 French championships when he came up against the world No. 5 Ferrer. Ferrer stunned Nadal by taking the first set, but Nadal promptly rebounded to claim the second. The bout then turned into a runaway affair for the reigning champ, who also had to beat out impending darkness in Paris for his 33rd straight match win here. The 13-time Grand Slam winner captured a fourth straight French Open title and eighth overall championship here a year ago by besting Ferrer in the finale. Nadal, who turned 28 on Tuesday, is now 22-6 lifetime against the 32- year-old Ferrer, including a perfect 4-0 mark at Roland Garros. Ferrer upset Nadal on some clay in Monte Carlo back in April. The amazing Nadal is trying to become the first man to capture five straight French Open championships. The Murray-Monfils match was a see-saw affair, as the British star pounced on the Frenchman for a two-sets-to-love lead, only to see the 2008 French Open semifinalist Monfils turn thinggs around by stunningly taking sets three and four. Brandon Crawford Giants Jersey. . After the fourth set, Murray sat in his chair and complained to the tournament referee about the darkening conditions at 9:20 p.m. local time, but it was decided the two men would play on. Murray appeared to struggle mightily with some sore legs in the fourth set against Monfils, but he showed no signs of problems in a lopsided fifth, which was played out in a mere 24 minutes as the stunned French faithful looked on. The 27-year-old Murray will appear in his second French Open semi. He missed the event last year due to injury. Nadal and Murray will meet for a 20th time on the ATP World Tour, with the mighty Spaniard leading their all-time series, 14-5, including a 5-0 record on clay. Nadal beat the two-time Grand Slam titlist Murray in a French Open semi three years ago. Fridays other semifinal will pit second-seeded former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic against 18th-seeded Ernests Gulbis, who will appear in his first-ever major semi. Djokovic will perform in his sixth French Open final four (1-4) and is 4-1 in his career versus Gulbis. The six-time major champion Djokovic was the French Open runner-up two years ago and still needs this title to complete a career Grand Slam. And if he wins the championship this week he would also reclaim the world No. 1 ranking. The 27-year-old Djokovic is a 22-time Grand Slam semifinalist. The 25-year-old Gulbis is currently riding a nine-match winning streak and already owns a pair of titles in France this season, including one in Nice just one day before the French Open commenced. Hes 13-0 on French soil for the year. Gulbis has not lost to a seeded player at a Grand Slam event since the 2010 Australian Open, compiling a 5-0 mark. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

(SportsNetwork. Dave Dravecky Giants Jersey .com) - The Eastern Conference-leading Toronto Raptors will take a two-game winning streak back home to Air Canada Centre Monday night when they host the Orlando Magic. The Raptors pushed their run to two games on Sunday night with a 95-90 overtime victory over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Kyle Lowry totaled 21 points, 11 assists and six steals to lead Toronto. The matchup between the Atlantic Division leaders and the five-win Knicks was surprisingly tight as neither team led by more than seven points. There were 12 leads changes and 21 ties, but Toronto controlled play in overtime as New York missed its first seven shots. Terrence Ross finished with 22 points, while Lou Williams and Patrick Patterson contributed 15 and 13 points, respectively off the bench for Toronto, which improved to 5-3 without star guard DeMar DeRozan. It was one of those nights you just find a way to grind it out, Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said. The Raptors, who already own a seven-game lead in the Atlantic Division, close out this mini homestand Wednesday versus the Boston Celtics. The Magic halted a two-game slide with a dramatic victory over the Atlanta Hawks Saturday night in the second of a home-and-home series. The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Hawks. Tobias Harris nailed a jumper at the buzzer to lift the Magic to a 100-99 victory. Kyle Korver put the Hawks in front after knocking down a contested left wing 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds left, but Harris came through at the other end. He received an inbounds pass at the top of the arc, used the left-handed dribble to get past DeMarre Carroll and hit a pull-up jumper from the left elbow at the horn. I think the biggest thing is every one of my teammates knew that is a shot I am capable of making, Harris said. Harris finished with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks, Evan Fournier posted 19 points and five boards and Nik Vucevic added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Magic, who had lost four of their last six games coming in. Orlando also put the brakes on a four-game home losing streak when it shot 50 percent (37-of-74) from the floor and hit 10-of-21 from beyond the arc. The Raptors won both meetings this season and nine in a row overall over the Magic. Toronto has won five consecutive over Orlando as the host in this series. Matt Cain Jersey . - The NFLs officiating chief has cleared Broncos receiver WesWelker of any wrongdoing for his hit that knocked Patriots cornerback AqibTalib out of Sundays AFC Championship. Matt Cain Giants Jersey . Tuesday nights 5-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox fit that category perfectly. MichaelBourns two-run double in the seventh inning snapped a 3-all tie and extended Clevelands winning streak to a season-high five straight games. The new-look Toronto Raptors wont have their new faces in the lineup Tuesday night when they welcome the San Antonio Spurs to the Air Canada Centre. Listen to the game live on TSN Radio 1050 at 7pm et. The Raptors traded RudyGay, QuincyAcy and AaronGray to the Sacramento Kings on Monday, in exchange for GreivisVasquez, JohnSalmons, PatrickPatterson and ChuckHayes. "I honestly want to think Rudy, Quincy and Aaron for their time here," said Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri. "I think those guys are super professional. It sounds cliche, but Rudy was a great person to work with. Phenomenal, talented player, but it just wasnt working." Gay was averaging 19.4 ppg and 7.4 rpg, but shooting only 39 percent from the field. Money was certainly a factor in the deal as well since Gay has a player option next season for over $19 million. The Raptors may not be done making moves as KyleLowrys name has been featured in trade reports. He becomes slightly more expendable now with Vasquez in town. "I never want to say theres nobody," said Ujiri. "I dont want to call out names. If somebody offers us MichaelJordan, am I going to say no? You never know whats going to come your way." The Raptors return home after a 1-2 trip out west. Tim Lincecum Giants Jersey. The lone victory came Sunday night when Toronto, which didnt have the three newest Kings in uniform, spoiled KobeBryants season debut. The Raptors beat the Lakers, 106-94. AmirJohnson was dominant with 32 points and 10 rebounds, while DeMarDeRozan scored 26 and Lowry finished with 23. TerrenceRoss, who should see an increased role at small forward, managed 11 off the bench. The Spurs set out on a two-game trip as they will visit Milwaukee on Wednesday. Center TiagoSplitter didnt make the trip due to a left calf injury. Last time out for San Antonio, the Indiana Pacers came to Alamo City Saturday night and left with a 111-100 victory. The Spurs built an eight-point lead after the first quarter, but the Pacers dominated the middle two frames to the tune of a 67-30 scoring disparity. "In the second quarter, they started making some shots and we werent able to keep up. We went cold, they got that lead, and we couldnt recover," Spurs forward TimDuncan said. KawhiLeonard led the Spurs with 18 points, followed by 16 from ManuGinobili. TonyParker chipped in 13, Duncan and PattyMills both scored 10 points. The Spurs have won five straight against the Raptors and three in a row in Toronto. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

CHICAGO -- Fred VanVleet scored 22 points on perfect shooting and No. adidas zx 700 sale . 3 Wichita State beat Loyola of Chicago 88-74 on Wednesday night to remain the only unbeaten team in major college basketball. Wichita State and top-ranked Syracuse began the day as the last Division I schools with perfect records. But the Orange lost 62-59 to Boston College in overtime, and the Shockers used an 11-2 run early in the second half to help close out the Ramblers. Cleanthony Early scored 18 points as Wichita State became the 19th school to begin a season with 28 straight victories. VanVleet was 6 for 6 from the field and made each of his 10 free throws. The Shockers (28-0, 15-0) can clinch the Missouri Valley Conference title with a victory at home against Drake on Saturday night. Milton Doyle scored 18 points and Jeff White had 14 for Loyola (9-18, 4-11), which has lost three straight and six of seven. Devon Turk finished with 13 points. Boosted by a capacity crowd at cozy Gentile Arena, the Ramblers battled back each time the Shockers tried to pull away in their first visit to Loyolas campus on the north side of Chicago since a 79-77 win on Feb. 9, 1976. It was just the third visit by a top-5 team to the Ramblers current home, joining No. 2 Michigan State in 2000 and No. 5 Kansas State in 2010. But every time Wichita State got a little push from Loyola, it just went back to its versatile group of athletic big men. The Shockers had a 41-24 rebounding advantage and went 31 for 34 from the free throw line, compared to 11 of 14 for Loyola. Chadrack Lufile had consecutive three-point plays to help Wichita State open a 52-36 lead with 15:43 to go. When the Ramblers pulled within 11 with 5 1/2 minutes left, Early made two foul shots and a 3-pointer to reach 1,000 career points and run the advantage back out to 16. Darius Carter added 13 points for Wichita State, which can close out a perfect regular season with three more wins. After the visit by the Bulldogs, the Shockers travel to Bradley before returning home for a tricky little finale against Missouri State. Wichita State trailed the Bears by 18 at halftime on Jan. 11, then rallied for a 72-69 overtime win. Early made each of his first three shots and had eight points when he picked up his second foul with 8:24 left in the first half, sending the senior star to the bench. Wichita State extended its lead to 35-24 before the Ramblers began to take advantage of Earlys absence inside. White drove for a three-point play and Christian Thomas had a basket and free throw to help Loyola pull within five with 1:28 remaining. Carter responded with a strong layup on the other end and Matt OLeary missed two 3s for Loyola in the final 42 seconds, leaving the Shockers with a 39-32 lead at the break. Barcelona coach Gerard Martino tried to reinforce his defence by playing with two holding midfielders in Sergio Busquets and Alex Song. But Song scored an own goal in the 32nd minute in the first of several defensive lapses that doomed the defending champions. Lionel Messi equalized in the 36th, but Antoine Griezmann restored the hosts advantage after an error by defender Marc Bartra in the 54th before setting up David Zurutuza in the 59th with Barcelona turned into bystanders. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid trail Madrid by three points. Atletico plays on Sunday. Gareth Bale scored from a blistering long-range strike to help Madrid win its third straight game without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was finishing a three-game suspension. Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi opened the scoring at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 34th. Bale then squashed Elches timid second-half surge with a blast from about 25 metres in the 72nd before substitute Isco Alarcon sealed the victory in the 81st. Bale was having a discreet outing until his superb strike to secure the three points that made Madrid the overnight pacesetters. The Wales winger received the ball unmarked outside the area, sized up the goal, and unleashed a dipping strike that goalkeeper Manuel Herrera barely grazed before it hit the underside of the bar and bounced in. "I said My goodness, what a goal when I saw the ball pass by," Madrid fullback Dani Carvajal said. Madrid will visit Schalke 04 on Wednesday in the Champions League final 16 enjoying an unbeaten streak of 26 games in all competitions. Madrid then plays at crosstown rival Atletico next weekend in a highly anticipated league meeting. Also, Celta Vigo fought back for a 1-1 draw at home against 10-man Getafe to leave the visitors winless in the last 10 rounds. hardlopen schoenen dames Nike Free Run+ 3 roze/Fluorescence groen. Martino was dismissed by the referee during halftime, and the Barcelona manager had to witness the rare sight of his team being thoroughly dismantled in the second half from the Anoeta Stadium stands as the festive home fans soaked up their big win. The victory moved Sociedad one point out of fourth place and Spains last Champions League spot as the Basque side deployed its best version of its up-tempo attack. Sociedad was unlucky not to widen the final margin when a disheartened Barcelona appeared to tire in the final minutes. Carlos Vela almost capped his outstanding performance in the 81st only for the ball to hit the post. Barcelona went into the match in San Sebastian after affirming its European credentials with a dominant win at Manchester City this week. But this stinging defeat confirmed the change in course in the league title race over the past two months, leaving Madrid in command and waiting to see if Atletico can keep up when it visits Osasuna on Sunday. Martinos move to start Song ended up backfiring when Gorka Elustondo muscled by him to meet Sergio Canales cross, which Elustondo appeared to graze with his head before it hit Song in the chest and landed in the net. Messi combined with Martin Montoya to level when Sergio Busquets craftily let Montoyas pass run between his legs for Messi to rifle it inside the upright of Claudio Bravos goal. It was Messis seventh goal in his last five games in all competitions and his 14th goal in league play despite missing over two months to injury. Sociedad, however, went back ahead to re-ignite its supporters when Bartra headed Bravos goalkick back toward his own area, where Vela was quick to pounce and crossed for Griezmann to volley the ball beyond Victor Valdes and record his 15th league goal. Griezmann then spotted Zurutuza arriving in a second wave, and the midfielder beat Valdes to the cross and knocked the ball in. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly added an insurance quarterback in case starter TonyRomo is, in fact, unable to play in Sundays critical NFC East showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. Carl Yastrzemski Authentic Jersey . JonKitna, who last played in the NFL with the Cowboys two seasons ago, has agreed to return to Dallas, according to the Dallas Morning News. Reports earlier Tuesday indicated Romo received an epidural injection to relieve pain on the herniated disc in his back, an injury he suffered in last Sundays win over the Redskins. The injection is a standard procedure in treating a herniated disc and the Cowboys hope to know by Wednesday or Thursday if the shot had a positive effect. Still, Kitna has apparently been added as a potential backup for KyleOrton if Romo doesnt dress. Kitna, 41, has played 15 seasons in the NFL and started nine games for Dallas in 2010. He appeared in three games in relief the next season before retiring at the end of the year. He has a career quarterback rating of 77.4 and has thrown 169 touchdown passes and 165 interceptions in 141 games. Johnny Pesky Red Sox Jersey . NEW YORK -- NBA owners seem as committed as Commissioner Adam Silver to ending Donald Sterlings ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers. Nike Air Max 2015 Hombre Baratas . The leagues advisory/finance committee held its first meeting about Sterling on Thursday, two days after Silver said he would urge owners to force a sale of the team. The 10-member committee held a conference call to discuss "the process for termination of Donald T. Sterlings ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers," NBA executive vice-president Mike Bass said in a statement. "The committee unanimously agreed to move forward as expeditiously as possible and will reconvene next week." Silver banned Sterling for life and fined him $2.5 million Tuesday for making racist comments. Sterling can have no association with the league or the team, but Silver wants more. A forced sale would require approval by three-fourths of the leagues 30 owners. Silver said he was confident he would get the votes. Minnesota owner Glen Taylor chairs the committee that also includes Miamis Micky Arison, the Lakers Jeanie Buss, Oklahoma Citys Clay Bennett, New Yorks James Dolan, Bostons Wyc Grousbeck, San Antonios Peter Holt, Phoenixs Robert Sarver, Indianas Herb Simon, and Torontos Larry Tanenbaum. A number of big names have already expressed interest in buying that team that Sterling has owned since 1981, including Oprah Winfrey and Floyd Mayweather Jr. First, owners must force Sterling to give it up -- which he may choose fight. According to the leagues constitution and bylaws, Silver or an owner would have to file a written charge against Sterling, who would have five days to respond. Silver would then call a hearing of the board of governors, which would vote after hearing the evidence against Sterling. Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive hopes it doesnt come to that. "I dont want to talk about kind of the legal side of it because I cant really comment on it, but my feeling is that I have faith in people," he said. "And I would hope that at some point Mr. Sterling would come to his senses and do the right thing. That he would apologize to Magic Johnson, that he would apologize to the fans, the league, the black community and he would do the right thing and he would accept what Commissioner Silver has suggested, he would put the team up for sale and perhaps even take a very small portion of the substantial profits and donate them to a good cause. "Its not going to be easy to own a team where the fans dont welcome you, where the sponsors shun you and where youre not welcomed by the other owners. And I think he can do the right thing and hopefully good sense will prevail at some point." Nike Air Max Thea Baratas . LUCIE, Fla. Nike Air Max 95 Mujer Espaa . "Eric notified us of the injury late last week, and flew to Raleigh and then Philadelphia to be evaluated," said Hurricanes general manager RonFrancis.MIAMI -- Defensive replacement EdLucas provided a boost with his bat, transforming the Miami Marlins extra-inning frustration into an 11th-inning celebration. Lucas single drove home the winning run from second base with one out in the 11th Tuesday night, and Miami beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4. The Marlins had lost their past three extra-inning games, each lasting at least 13 innings. They had been shut out for 15 consecutive extra-inning innings before Lucas hit, according to STATS. "After that kind of a streak, it starts to build and grate on you as a team, so it was nice to be able to finish one off," Lucas said. "Weve been so close in the past. We just havent been able to get the big hit when we needed to. So its good to be able to dump one in there and get us out of here for once." Miami broke a four-game losing streak, while the Phillies lost their fifth game in a row and dropped a season-worst 9 1/2 games out of the NL East lead. "It just seems like the games were close to, we just dont win them," said the Phils A.J.Burnett, who pitched six innings. "Weve been in spots to win a lot of ballgames." The Marlins extended another streak, winning their ninth consecutive game when HendersonAlvarez starts. That matched the longest such streak with a pitcher in franchise history. "We need to get him to pitch every day," manager Mike Redmond said. Alvarez allowed two runs in seven innings. Pinch hitter JeffBaker singled to start the 11th against JustinDeFratus (2-1), then advanced on a sacrifice. He scored without a play on an opposite-field hit by Lucas, who was sent into the game in the eighth because of his defence. "Weve had several opportunities to get that big hit," Redmond said. "It has been a little bit elusive late in the game, and tonight Eddie got one. That was big." The Phillies overcame a 4-2 deficit in the eighth with back-to-back two-out homers by MarlonByrd and CodyAsche off KevinGregg. Byrd clanked his 16th homer off the home-run sculpture, and two pitches later Asche pulled his fifth homer just inside the foul pole. After the homers, Miamis bullpen retired the final 10 Phillies batters. BryaanMorris (6-0) pitched two innings. Nike Air Max 87 Mujer Baratas. "The offence has been inconsistent, sporadic, and it has made it tough on the starting pitcher that day trying to be perfect," manager Ryne Sandberg said. "The bullpen has stepped up and done its job putting zeroes late in the game, only to come short on the offensive side of things a lot of the times." The Marlins GiancarloStanton singled home a run to increase his RBI total to 61, which leads the NL. CaseyMcGehee singled and scored and has reached base in 25 consecutive games. Miami also scored on a strikeout against Burnett, who struck out 10 but allowed four runs, three earned. Alvarez was better, and even when he was on his backside, the Phillies had trouble reaching base. When Burnett broke his bat on a dribbler, Alvarez leaped to avoid the barrel and then crumpled in a heap on the mound. He watched from a supine position as third baseman McGehee threw Burnett out. Alvarez again fell fielding CameronRupps one-hopper in the seventh, and while sitting on the mound tossed to first for the out. "I was happy he didnt throw it from his back," Redmond said. "Im glad he at least sat up." The Marlins SteveCishek also had a highlight-reel moment, reaching behind his back to snare another one-hopper by Rupp for an out in the ninth. NOTES: After the game, the Marlins placed RHP A.J.Ramos on the 15-day disabled list because of shoulder inflammation. ... DETROIT -- JosmilPinto was rounding third when he suddenly realized his coach was holding him up. Matt Cain Jersey . Then he noticed something else: The throw from the outfield wasnt heading anywhere near the plate. So Pinto went home, and the comeback was only beginning for the Minnesota Twins. They scored three more runs the following inning -- thanks in part to more poor defence by Detroit -- for a 4-3 victory over the Tigers on Sunday. "A great win for us, when you take advantage of a mistake any time you can get one," said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire, who was ejected in the fourth inning. "Winning two out of three here against this team is good. You take them any way you can get them." EduardoNunez hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth for the Twins, who had a bit of help from Detroits outfield in the late innings. Right fielder ToriiHunter threw to the wrong base to allow Pinto to score in the seventh, and an error by RajaiDavis in left was even more costly in the eighth. The Twins handed the AL Central-leading Tigers only their second series loss of the season. Detroit left-hander Robbie Ray pitched six scoreless innings in his second big league start and IanKinsler homered to put the Tigers up 3-0 in the fifth. The bullpen couldnt hold on. Minnesota pinch-hitter Danny Santana hit an RBI single in the seventh, when Pinto ran through a stop sign and scored from second. He may well have been out at the plate, but Hunter tossed the ball quickly to second instead of throwing home. "When I started running, I felt something in my foot, and I stopped, and then I started running. When I touched third base, I saw (the third base coach) like, Hey," said Pinto, pantomiming a stop sign. "And then I turned my head a little bit, and I saw Torii throw the ball to second base." So Pinto kept going. "Torii assumed, that with that kind of bloop single, the guy is scoring easy," Tigers manager BradAusmus said. "But they held him up and he read Toriis throw." Detroits problems were only beginning. In the eighth, Pinto singled to left off JobaChamberlain (1-2) with runners on first and second. One run scored on the hit, and the ball skipped past Davis for an error that enabled another run to come home and allowed Pinto to reach second. Nunez followed with his single to make it 4-3. JaredBurton (1-1) won in relief. GlenPerkins got four outs for his 10th save in 11 chances. With a runner on second and one out in the bottom of the eighth, VictorMartinez hit a line drive up the middle that hit reliever CaseyFien. The right-hander picked up the ball and threw a one-hopper to first to retire Martinez, then Fein left the game with a bruised right arm. Perkins came on and got pinch-hitter NickCastellanos on a flyout with a runner on third. Minnesota starter SamuelDeduno gave up three runs and six hits in six innings. MiguelCabrera hit a sacrifice fly in the first, and the Tigers made it 2-0 in the fourth on an RBI single by AustinJackson. Detroit had the bases loaded later that inning when Gardenhire was ejected. With one out, AndrewRomine hit a grounder toward shortstop, but the Twins had no chance to turn a double play because the ball hit Jackson, who had been on second. Jackson was called out, Martinez was sent back to third and Romine was awarded first, leaving the bases still loaded with two outs. Gardenhire came out to argue, wanting the umpires to award a double play. Third base ump Joe West, the crew chief, ejected him. "In their opinion, which I was told, he didnt intentionally let the ball hit him. I know what happened. I think we all saw that he was trying to screen the (fielder). It was going to be a routine double play. Maybe the ball took a funny hop and hit him, but he didnt have to be there," Gardenhire said. "My opinion didnt work, lets just put it that way. So I ended up in here." The play didnt cost Minnesota any runs. Davis followed with a groundout to end the inning. NOTES: It was Gardenhires first ejection of the year and the 68th of his career in the regular season. ... Detroit plays at Baltimore on Monday night. RickPorcello (5-1) starts for the Tigers against BudNorris (2-2). ... The Twins have Monday off before hosting Boston. RickyNolasco (2-3) takes the mound for Minnesota on Tuesday night against FelixDoubront (1-3). Jake Peavy Giants Jersey . The Texas Rangers quickly got even, and the right-hander felt like he was starting over when he got back on the mound. Angel Pagan Giants Jersey . -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver PercyHarvin will have minor shoulder surgery soon to address a nagging injury he played with last season.BOSTON -- The Red Sox have signed outfielder GradySizemore to a one-year contract. A three-time All-Star, Sizemore, 31, has played eight major league seasons, all with the Indians. He hit .269 in Cleveland, with 139 home runs and 458 RBIs. To make room on the 40-man roster, Boston right-handed pitcher BrayanVillarreal was designated for assignment. The moves were announced by general managger Ben Cherington on Wednesday. Brandon Crawford Jersey. Sizemore was named an American League All-Star in each of his last three full seasons (2006-08). During that stretch, he hit .279. The veteran has been hampered by injuries over the last five years, though, missing the past two seasons recovering from right knee and back surgeries. Brandon Hynes and Yannick Dube scored in the shootout Thursday as the Victoriaville Tigres defeated the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 5-4 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Brian McCann Authentic Jersey . Phillip Danault had a goal and two assists for Victoriaville (38-17-4), while Philippe Halley added a goal and an assist. Daniel Milan and Carl-Antoine Delisle also scored for the Tigres, who got 27 saves from David Honzik. Thomas Gobeil had a goal and an assist for Baie-Comeau (27-26-5), while Alexandre Ranger, Samuel Noreau and Jonathan Lessard also scored. Lukas Cingel added two assists and Jimmy Appleby made 35 saves. In the only other game in the QMJHL, Shawinigan defeated Cape Breton 8-2. At Baie-Comeau, Que., tied 2-2 in the third period, Lessard gave Baie-Comeau the lead at 4:01. But Danault tied it for Victoriaville to force overtime with just 20 seconds left in regulation. Cataractes 8 Screaming Eagles 2@ At Sydney, N.S., Michael Chaput had a hat trick and added an assist as Shawinigan (40-12-7) pasted Cape Breton (21-34-3). Lou Gehrig Authentic Jersey . -- After enjoying the chance to watch Toronto beat Anaheim, the San Jose Sharks took advantage of a tired Maple Leafs team to move closer to the Ducks in the standings. Hiroki Kuroda Jersey . Mata had already been dropped from Spains squad once this season and with the country blessed with so many playmakers, he was in real danger of being overlooked for the trip to Brazil to defend their title. His side is yet to kick a ball in Major League Soccer, but Montreal Impact Head Coach Jesse Marsch has already proven hes not afraid to make bold decisions. With less than three weeks to go until the start of the clubs inaugural MLS season, the latest move made by Marsch gives his team a valuable attacking boost. In the wake of Brian Chings return to Houston earlier in the week, the Impact were left fairly short of attacking options, but a decision by United States international Eddie Johnson to return to the league handed them with a golden opportunity to strengthen up front. Montreal used their position at the top of the leagues allocation order to sign Johnson and then trade him straight to Seattle in exchange for Mike Fucito and Lamar Neagle. Marschs first big decision was whether or not to acquire Johnson or pass on the 27-year-old U.S. international who is coming back to MLS after four years playing in Europe and a short stint in Mexico. As the lone expansion club this year, the Impact held the top spot in the allocation order, Major League Soccers way of assigning U.S. internationals who are returning to the league. By taking Johnson, the Impact now moves to the bottom of the order and therefore lose a valuable asset. Marsch will have explored all the available options in the 24 hour period after Johnson signed with the league. The forward would have been a useful addition to his squad, but with interest from other clubs it was possible for the Impact coach to get what he perceived to be better value. Colorado Rapids were thought to be the frontrunners to sign Johnson, but Marsch managed to arrange a trade with Seattle Sounders which sees two players with a big upside move to Montreal. Seattle Coach Sigi Schmid had to make a brave decision of his own as he tries to take his Sounders side to the next level. There are questions surrounding Johnsons form and fitness, but if they can get the forward firing on all cylinders they could have found the perfect foil for Colombian Fredy Montero. The negative reaction with which many Seattle supporters greeted the trade was less about Johnsons arrival and more a show of respect and appreciation for what Fucito and Neagle have brought to their club over the past couple of years despite neither player being a regular in the starting line-up. Fucito started 13 of his 19 regular season appearances in 2011, but was also effective for the Sounders in the US Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League. The 46th overall pick in the 2009 SuperDraft burst onto the scene scoring an injury time winner against Sporting Kansas City in April 2010 and had become a valuable part of the Sounders squad who was loved by the fans because of his work ethic and readiness for a battle. After an impressive 2010 with Charleston Battery in the USL, Neagle proved to be an equally useful option for the Sounders last year with five goals and two assists in 23 MLS appearances (9 starts). The decision for Schmid to part ways with Neagle was made even more difficult by the fact that hes a local boy, from Federal Way, Washington. If Schmid had kept them, Fucito and Neagle would not have been starting for the Sounders each week. In the Pacific Northwest they would no doubt still have played a valuable role providing depth, but in Montreal they now have a very realistic opportunity to become first team regulars. The arrival of Fucito and Neagle will give Marsch a youthful impetus ggoing forward and it now also seems likely that veteran forward Eddie Sebrango will be added to the teams roster. Paul ONeill Jersey. Now 38 years old, it would be an ideal end to Sebrangos storied career with Montreal if he manages to make it into the clubs MLS squad. Sebrangos exemplary attitude, experience and strong character would be a great asset to Marsch heading into an expansion season. Hes unlikely to be a regular starter for Montreal, but the Cuban born striker could still do a job coming off the bench. Marsch now has a few options available in attack as his team arrives in Florida for the final stage of preseason, but he still needs to add greater firepower. That help will likely come in mid-season, with all signs pointing to Montreal strengthening their forward line in July with the arrival of a Designated Player. Moving Up Vancouver Whitecaps also benefit from Montreals decision to pick up and then trade Eddie Johnson. The Whitecaps now move up to top spot in the MLS allocation order which means they will get the first right of refusal to sign the next United States international to return to Major League Soccer. The Caps were linked with Glasgow Rangers defender Carlos Bocanegra in the Scottish media last week, and although a move is unlikely at this stage, they are now in prime position to pick up another quality player should the opportunity arise. Holding first place in the allocation order will also give Vancouver a valuable bargaining tool if they are looking to trade within MLS at any stage in the coming weeks. The latest piece to be added to Martin Rennies squad is midfielder Barry Robson. The Scottish international will join the Whitecaps in July following the conclusion of the season with his current club Middlesborough in the English Championship. The 33-year-old has plenty to offer both on and off the pitch. When listening to Robson talk about the move, its clear that he isnt crossing the Atlantic with a view to having an easier life in the closing stages of his career. Hes a winner and hes determined to play a part in helping the Whitecaps achieve their goals. He talks with passion about the challenge ahead and will certainly be a positive influence within the locker room. Silva Lining Heading into the MLS SuperDraft in Kansas City in January, Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director Aron Winter made it clear he wasnt expecting any of the clubs picks to make an immediate impact in Major League Soccer. He said he would be satisfied if he could pick up a couple of players who could be eased in slowly and called upon when needed during a long season. Six weeks on, the clubs first round picks Luis Silva and Aaron Maund are showing signs they are up to the challenge. Fourth overall pick Luis Silva has been particularly impressive in training and caught the eye during Torontos first preseason action on Friday when he scored two goals in a 5-1 win over University of South Florida. Silva had a standout final year at the University of California Santa Barbara and was a semi-finalist for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy. The 23-year-old is well suited to Torontos attack-minded style of play and if he can continue his impressive development he could prove to be an extremely valuable addition as the season progresses. The 2012 Major League Soccer season kicks off on Saturday, March 10 when Vancouver Whitecaps host Montreal Impact live on TSN at 6 p.m. ET, 3 p.m. PT. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

Canadas strong showing throughout the World Cup season has qualified it for the maximum number of spots in every short-track speedskating event at the Sochi Games in February. "With the beginning to the season that Ive had, beginning with the Canadian trials in August, I have nothing to doubt in myself.INDIANAPOLIS -- Jacques Villeneuve is ready to make an IndyCar comeback. nike roshe run kopen . Schmidt Peterson Motorsports said Wednesday it has hired Villeneuve to race in this years Indianapolis 500, 19 years after the Canadian driver first drank the milk in Victory Lane. "IndyCar is growing again and thats why last year when I started watching races again, every time I watched I felt almost angry I wasnt there," the 1995 race winner said on a satellite hookup from France during a news conference held at the teams Indy headquarters. At age 42, Villeneuve seemed content being a television analyst, musician and RallyCross driver. But when Schmidt and co-owner Rick Peterson, also from Canada, made a serious offer, he couldnt refuse. The 500 is scheduled for May 25. Villeneuve certainly has a compelling resume. As an Indy rookie in 1994, he qualified fourth and finished second to Al Unser Jr., and was named the races rookie of the year. The next season, the reigning CART rookie of the year was even better. He qualified fifth at Indy, forced Scott Goodyear into a costly mistake on the final restart and eventually held off Christian Fittipaldi to become the first and only Canadian winner of the race. Villeneuve completed all 400 laps at Indy in those two starts and won the 1995 CART title, too. But after starting 33 races, winning six poles and five races in two IndyCar seasons, Villeneuve had a chance to become an international star. So he headed to Europe and joined Formula One -- the series that made his late father, Gilles, a household name. Like his dad, who died in a 1982 F1 qualifying crash, Villeneuve excelled on the world stage. In 163 career starts between 1996 and 2006, the younger Villeneuve reached the podium 23 times, won 11 races, 13 poles and claimed the 1997 world championship. At that point, American open-wheel racing wasnt even on the radar. His journey back to North America began in 2007 when Villeneuve made the move to American stock cars. Over the next seven seasons, he dabbled in Sprint Cup, Natiionwide and Le Mans series as well as sports cars. nike air max 2015 kopen. Villeneuve regained interest in IndyCars last season as he watched how close and competitive the races had become. To him, it reminded him of the series he left almost two decades earlier. Suddenly, he was interested in making a return -- if he could find the right car and the right team. "To get this opportunity is a gift," Villeneuve said. "A lot of people say when you have kids, you slow down. I want my kids to see me race." Schmidt is the winningest team owner in Indy Lights history and already employs two full-time drivers in the better-known IndyCar series -- Russias Mikhail Aleshin and Frances Simon Pageland. In previous years, Schmidt has always found a way to compete at Indy. Getting Villeneuve might be the biggest coup of all for his low-budget team. "Indy is a special place. We go there not to exist but to win the race," Schmidt said. "To see a guy that finished second and finished first there, I dont think hes going to have any problem going back." Villeneuve becomes the fifth 500 winner on this years entry list. The others are three-time winner Helio Castroneves of Brazil, two-time winner Scott Dixon of New Zealand, 2000 winner Juan Pablo Montoya of Colombia and Brazils Tony Kanaan, the defending champ. Another trip to Victory Lane would give Villeneuve two more milestones. He would break Al Unsers record for the longest gap between first and last victories. Unser went 17 years between his first Indy crown in 1970 and his record-tying fourth win in 1987. Villeneuve also would break Gordon Johncocks record for the longest gap between first and second wins at Indy, 1973 and 1982. Villeneuve isnt motivated by records. He wants to win. "Im a racer," he said, explaining he does not plan to retire anytime soon. "Ive got to find ways to get better and better and better, and Im going there with a team thats very experienced and has been very successful as well." wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger failed for the 10th time to get the better of Jose Mourinho as Arsenal was held to a 0-0 draw by Chelsea on Monday, missing a chance to return to the top of the Premier League. Nike Air Max 2015 Dames Sale . The London derby, played with rain swirling around the Emirates Stadium, failed to produce the drama expected, with few attempts on goal. "They defended well, were well organized, and we didnt find our zippy movements to play between the lines as we can," said Wenger, whose side lost 6-3 at Manchester City in its last game. "I feel we were a bit edgy because we conceded six at Man City and that played in our heads at the start. In the second half we took control of the game and had two or three chances where we could have done better." Chelsea came closest in the first half when Frank Lampards shot struck the crossbar, while Arsenal only threatened Petr Cechs goal in the closing minutes when Olivier Giroud shot wide from a tight angle. It meant that in Mourinhos two stints as Chelsea manager, Wenger has now endured five draws and five losses. "It is a solid point but two points dropped at home," Wenger said. Arsenal is ahead in the Premier League, only behind leader Liverpool on goal difference and two points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea. Mourinhos mission was to shackle an Arsenal team that hasnt been beaten at home in the league since the opening day of the season. And the Portuguese coach succeeded with his well-organized side, prompting Arsenal fans to boo the visitors and chant "Boring, boring Chelsea." "I agree," Mourinho said. "I played against them 10 times and I never lost ... it was very important not to lose because if we lose we are five points behind the leader and with a point we are two points behind both leaders." The concern for Mourinho, though, will be the failure of a Chelsea striker to score a first league away goal since last December, with Fernando Torres ineffective up front. "Its not just a problem with the strikers -- its also a problem of the other people not transforming half-chances into chances for goals," Mourinho said. "And we had half a dozen of those today, not aggressive, sharp or attacking people to score." Instead the defenders thwarted Arsenal. "Arsenal showed on the pitch ... frustration because they couldnt create or penetrate," Mourinho said. Wenger was aggrieved that Arsenal wasnt awarded a penalty in the first half when Theo Walcott went down under Willians light challenge. "One hundred per cent penalty," Wenger said. "In my mind (there) is no doubt." Mourinho was dismissive of his London rivals complaints. "You know, they like to cry -- thats tradition," he said. "English people -- Frank Lampard, for example -- would never provoke a situation like that. Players from other countries, especially some countries, have that in their blood. So, instead if you have a contact or the opponent was aggressive, lets go, keep going. This is English football." Mourinho also defended John Obi Mikels sliding studs-up tackle on Mikel Arteta before the penalty call that went unpunished. "Football is a game of contact," Mourinho said. "English football, winter, water on the pitch, sliding tackles at fantastic speed ... be proud. "Play with pride. If you are hurt, OK you are hurt. If you have pain, I have pain every day and I work every day." The teams are back in action on Thursday, with Chelsea hosting Swansea and Arsenal at West Ham. Nike Air Max 2015 Dames . MELBOURNE, Australia -- Australian Davis Cup captain Pat Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt have entered the doubles competition at the Australian Open as a wild-card entry, with both players admitting theyre planning to have "a bit of fun. Mikhail Grabovski Islanders Jersey ." It comes less than a month after John McEnroe criticized the current state of the doubles game, saying the standard of players is poor and the money would be better spent on struggling singles players. On Sunday, the 41-year-old Rafter said he would come out of more than a decade of retirement to play with Hewitt, although how far they go in the doubles draw might depend on how long Hewitt stays active in singles. The 32-year-old Hewitt plays his first-round singles match against No. 24 Andreas Seppi on Tuesday. Rafter hasnt played since Australias Davis Cup final loss to France in Melbourne in 2001. He and Hewitt, both two-time Grand Slam singles champions, were drawn to play American Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen of South Africa in the first round of the doubles. Hewitt, when asked if there was a serious side to the doubles pairing, responded: "Not really. Just a bit of fun." "I think he still thinks hes got it in him, so... Hope I dont have to carry him too much," Hewitt added, smiling. "Hes hitting the ball well enough. Beat (Goran) Ivanisevic and (Tim) Henman and those guys over in the seniors tour." Rafter appeared to play down any long-range plans for the twosome. "Listen, nothing is happening just yet," Rafter said. "Were in the draw, but it will all depend on how he goes. Its really important for him to play great singles. Thats what its all about. "But Ill have fun. Im playing with one of the best players in the competition. Figure its like eating chocolate or having broccoli, sort of equal it out." McEnroe, despite having won 71 doubles titles, many of them with regular partner Peter Fleming, in addition to his 77 singles titles, was scathing in his criticism of doubles during a gathering in London during a Masters tournament in December. "If you cut out doubles and gave that money to singles players ranked between 200 and 1,000, maybe that would do something for the game," McEnroe was quoted as saying. "Most doubles players, I hate to say, are the slow guys who were not quick enough to play singles. Why we are even playing doubles at this point is a mystery to me." The winning mens and womens doubles pairs at the Australian Open will each receive almost a half-million dollars. Rafter, who could split $12,000 with Hewitt even if they lose in the first round, was asked whether he had any concerns about passing a doping test in his comeback. "If theres a law, mate, against eating too much chocolate, Im in trouble," Rafter said. Nikolay Kulemin Islanders Jersey . Ray gave up one run in his major league debut and got plenty of run support, especially from MiguelCabrera, to help Detroit rout the Houston Astros 11-4 on Tuesday night for its season-high seventh straight win. Clark Gillies Jersey . The Blue Jackets entered this series against the Metropolitan Division champions as heavy underdogs, but they sit tied with the Penguins at two wins apiece. Columbus has arrived at this point with a pair of overtime victories, including a 4-3 triumph in Wednesdays Game 4 clash at Nationwide Arena that gave the franchise its first home playoff win.EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin will be going into the season with a little more job security. The Giants confirmed Friday that they gave the 67-year-old Coughlin a one-year extension, putting him under contract through the 2015 season. The agreement had been expected since the franchise has a history of not allowing its head coach go into a season as a lame duck. "The Giants have always done that," Coughlin told reporters at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. "That was always indicated to me. I didnt pay a whole lot of attention to it to be honest with you. Weve had a lot of work going on in our business and our building, as you know. So I had great confidence that it would happen, and it did." Coughlin said that his agent and the Giants never talked about getting a longer contract, which is not surprising. The Giants have missed the playoffs the past two seasons and three of four. However, his Super Bowl titles in 2008 and 12 earned him at least another season. Coughlin and the Giants had wanted to get the deal done earlier, but it was delayed while Coughlin reshaped his offensive staff. Coordinator Kevin Gilbride retired after the Giants (7-9) missed the playoffs and two other longtime assistants, running backs coach Jerald Ingram and tight ends coach Mike Pope, were fired. Coughlin also reassigned quarterbacks coach SeanRyan and receivers coach Kevin M. Gilbride, with Ryan taking over the receivers and the younger Gilbride moving to tight ends. Former Packers assistant Ben McAdoo was hired as the offensive co-ordinator. Coughlin said making the changes was very difficult. "You have coaches that have, in many cases, been with you a long, long time with Kevin (Gilbride) retiring and with Mike (Pope) and Jerald (Ingram) -- they had been with me a long time," Coughlin said. "I have great respect for them. Its never easy. Its verry difficult thing for a head coach to do, whether it be a player, whether it be a coach, guys I have respect for.Mike Bossy Authentic Jersey. "They were very, very good football coaches. I just felt like in those situations that I needed to make some other changes after Kevin retired in the best interest of our team. And in doing that, were back on track now trying to get ourselves ready for the spring." Coughlin said there will be some noticeable changes to the offence next season, but not everything will change. "I think definitely we would maintain a commitment to the run, and that will be a factor no matter what," he said. "And thats been agreed upon by all. But as far as changes, they may be subtle; there may be some drastic ones. "But the number one thing will be the players, the team, the opportunity to again get ourselves back on track the way we need to be, the ball security issues being first and foremost. The obvious questions being made about the offensive line, well see where that goes. Who knows what that would have been like last year had a couple of our guys been able to stay on the field." The Giants offensive line was decimated by injuries last season. Center DavidBaas and guard ChrisSnee missed much of the season and left tackle WillBeatty broke a leg in the final game. Guard-centre KevinBoothe is a free agent, backup JimCordle will be coming off a knee injury and veteran DavidDiehl retired. That leaves only tackle JustinPugh returning healthy after an excellent rookie season. The problems up front had EliManning and the offence being described by owner John Mara as "broken" after the season. "Did I agree that the offence was broken?" Coughlin said of the comment. "I certainly agree that some things have to be fixed, lets put it that way. But I wouldnt have used that word." wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

The Georges St-Pierre saga took another strange turn Thursday when the former welterweight champion told ESPN Brazil that he would consider a superfight against former middleweight champ Anderson Silva. Terry Bradshaw Jersey . St-Pierre, who decided to step away from the UFC and give up his welterweight title in November for personal reasons, said that if the conditions were fair he would consider stepping into the octagon for what would likely be the biggest fight in the sports history. "It has to respect my conditions, all I ask is a fair fight. Right now I need to take some time off. But if they have an offer with something good, maybe," he said. St-Pierre discussed past rumours of a possible bout between the two but said there was never a level playing field to attract the Saint-Isidore, Qubec native. "There were conversations before but they were talking about me going up at 185. I weigh 190 pounds, the guy weighs 230 pounds when he is off season. Im 190 pounds off season. Right now Im 195 at maximum. My friends saw him and he is now 230, 235," he said. "I know people who know him. He is very big. Its not a fair fight for me. Before, Anderson Silva was in my size when he used to fight in Japan but he is very big now." St-Pierres comments dont realistically bring the fight any closer to reality due to the fact that GSPs future with the organization is uncertain and Silva is recovering from a broken leg suffered during his middleweight title rematch against reigning champion Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December. However, if the interest is there on both sides it might be too good an opportunity to pass up. "If we were able to pull something like that off, it would be a win-win for everybody - the fans, the UFC," Silvas manager Ed Soares told USA Today back in January. "I think that would be awesome." Martavis Bryant Jersey . Moulson left late in the third period of Thursdays 3-2 win in Phoenix with an undisclosed injury, which the club revealed on Friday was an upper-body issue. Heath Miller Jersey . TaylorHall had a hat trick and rookie RyanNugent-Hopkins had five assists, and the Oilers snapped a four-game losing skid in a big way with a 9-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- Ever since the game was invented, before television or even radio existed, baseball counted on the eyes and ears of umpires on the field. Starting this season, many key decisions will be made in a studio far away. Major League Baseball vaulted into the 21st century of technology on Thursday, approving a huge expansion of instant replay in hopes of eliminating blown calls that riled up players, managers and fans. "I think its great," San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Its about getting it right." Acknowledging the human element had been overtaken in an era when everyone except the umps could see several views over and over in slow-motion, owners and players and umpires OKed the new system. Now each manager will be allowed to challenge at least one call per game. If hes right, he gets another challenge. After the seventh inning, a crew chief can request a review on his own if the manager has used his challenges. "I tell you the fans will love it," baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said after owners met and voted their unanimous approval. "Its another in a long list of changes that will make this sport better than it already is." Baseball was the last major pro sport in North America to institute replay when it began late in the 2008 season. Even then, it was only used for close calls on home runs. The NFL, NBA, NHL, some NCAA sports and major tennis tournaments all use a form of replay, and even FIFA and the English Premier League have adopted goal-line technology for soccer. Not that managers wont still occasionally bolt from the dugout, their veins bulging. The so-called "neighbourhood play" at second base on double plays cannot be challenged. Many had safety concerns for middle infielders being wiped out by hard-charging runners if the phantom force was subject to review. Ball-and-strike calls cant be contested. Neither can check-swings and foul tips. Nor can obstruction and interference rulings -- those are up to the umpires judgment, like the one at third base in St. Louis that ended Bostons loss in Game 3 of the World Series last October. All reviews will be done by current MLB umpires at a replay centre in MLB.coms New York office. To create a large enough staff, MLB agreed to hire six new big league umpires and call up two minor league umps for the entire season. A seventh major league umpire will be added to replace the late Wally Bell. The umpires on the field will be able to talk to the command centre. The replay umpire will make the final decision -- that could include where to place runners if, say, a call is reversed from out to safe on a trapped ball in outfield. In addition, managers and others in the dugout will be allowed to communicate by phone with someone in the clubhouse who can watch the videos and advise whether to challenge a call. "Im excited to see how it works out. I am interested to see how the flow of the game is affected," Oakland catcher StephenVogt said. "Its a good use of the technology that we have, the fact that we will be able to get more calls corrected and fixed." Joe Torre, MLBs executive vice-president of baseball operations, said work continues on a proposed rule that would ban home-plate collisions between runners and the catcher. The rule has not been written and talks on its content are ongoing bbetween MLB representatives and the players union, he said. Hines Ward Jersey. Even since William McLean became the first professional umpire when he worked a Boston-Philadelphia National League game on April 22, 1876, baseball has celebrated its old-fashioned traditions. Having umpires make the calls on the field was one of them. So were arguments between managers and umpires, often to the delight of fans. Worries that replays would slow the pace even more were offset by this: Replay decisions cannot be argued. Replay umpires will make their final rulings in no more than a minute to 90 seconds, MLB Executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations Joe Torre estimated. "With our technology today we can do that in a way I dont think we will interrupt the flow of the game," Bochy said. To make reviews uniform, cameras will transit 12 angles from each ballpark. MLB Chief Operating Officer Rob Manfred said it was uncertain whether the replay system will be in place in Australia for the season-opening series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers. "For some, the discussions regarding expanded replay appeared to move too slowly, too deliberately," said Brian Lam, the lawyer for the World Umpires Association. "But there were technical and operational challenges that needed to be addressed, and that took time. With so many competing interests and opinions, it is unlikely that all will be completely pleased at the end of the day, but thats often the nature of things." MLB had talked for a few years about expanding replay to include fair-or-foul calls and traps. Several missed calls in the post-season ratcheted up the debate. The players union gave its approval for the 2014 season. "The players look forward to the expanded use of replay this season, and they will monitor closely its effects on the game before negotiating over its use in future seasons," union Executive Director TonyClark said in a statement. Selig said the replay expansion ranks "very, very high" when compared with other moves made during his time on the job. The new rule allows ballparks to show fans the same replays on stadium video screens. But only plays under review can be shown on the screen in slow motion. "Its the first time in the history of the game that a manager has the opportunity to change the call of a play that may have adversarily affected their team," said Atlanta Braves President John Schuerholz, who chaired the committee that came up with the replay plan, "that may have cost them the game, that may have cost them the division, that may have cost them a World Series." The existing rule on umpires calling for a review of whether a hit was a home run or not will remain, although the review will be done by the umpire in New York. Torre said the number of manager challenges were limited to a maximum of two to maintain "the rhythm of the game." "Were going to start this way and if we feel something has to be adjusted were certainly going to be aware of that," he said. Torre and MLB executive Tony La Russa, both ex-managers, joined Schuerholz on the replay committee. "Were really going for the dramatic miss, not all misses," La Russa said. "...This is a challenge for a game-changing play that goes against you, and now you can correct it." wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

DETROIT -- Spencer Abbott and Greg McKegg scored shootout goals to lift the Toronto Marlies to a 4-3 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday in an AHL outdoor game in front of 20,337 at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. cheap nfl jerseys . Abbott had two assists during regulation, and McKegg had one. They were the only players to score in the five-round shootout. Luke Glendening, who was playing in his fourth career outdoor game, scored twice for the Griffins. "Its special," said Glendening, a Grand Rapids native and Michigan graduate. "Its in Detroit, and I come to Tigers games with my family and friends, so to be able to play here was fun. "Obviously, were frustrated with the outcome, but to soak in the whole experience was special." Carter Ashton had a goal and an assist for the Marlies. The game was part of the Hockeytown Winter Festival. preceding the NHLs Winter Classic between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium on New Years Day. "It was louder than I thought it was going to be," Griffins coach Jeff Blashill said. "The fans were into it for sure, and Id be interested to be a Tiger and see what its like when its full because it was loud out there. "It was a great atmosphere." Of the seven previous AHL outdoor games, five have gone to overtime. Toronto forward Kenny Ryan, who is from nearby Franklin, Mich., scored the tying goal at 2:22 of the third period. "I come to games a lot in the summer with friends and family," Ryan said. "It was a pretty cool experience sitting out there in the outfield, almost, just looking at all the people that came, everything that was going on. "It was a really great experience." Light snow fell periodically throughout the game, and the game-time temperature was a chilly 22 degrees. Outdoor games are generally tougher on the goalies, who dont get a chance to warm up on the heated benches. "It was definitely tough staying warm out there," Griffins goalie Tom McCollum said. "I was skating around as much as I could. I actually ended up switching to a heavier shirt after the first period. It seemed to help a little bit but its one of those things you have to battle through." Marlies counterpart Drew Macintyre, who spent time in the Detroit organization, admitted to his own struggles, as well. "After a while, you get comfortable in a game. Pucks tend to kind of stick to you," Macintyre said. "Every puck, it was a battle to kind of cradle the rebounds. The entire game, you feel like you just got into the game. Even when I got into the shootout, it was like the game just started. "I hadnt got into a rhythm. That was different." It was the largest home crowd for the Griffins, who usually play at the 10,834-seat Van Andel Arena. However, it wasnt a record crowd for Grand Rapids, which played some games during its International Hockey League days at the 20,804-seat Palace -- the home of the NBAs Detroit Pistons.cheap jerseys . ATLANTA -- Major League Soccer is closing in on a deal with Falcons owner Arthur Blank to bring an expansion franchise to Atlantas new downtown stadium.Lynn Swann Jersey . The team would likely begin play in 2017, when the $1 billion retractable roof stadium is set to open next to the Georgia Dome to provide a new home for the NFL Falcons. "Our discussions with Major League Soccer continue, but we do not have a final agreement at this time," Kim Shreckengost, the chief administrative officer for Blanks AMB Group, said Tuesday in an email to The Associated Press. "We hope to complete the agreement soon, at which time we will make a formal announcement." The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that a new team will be announced April 16. "We are continuing discussions with Arthur Blank to bring a Major League Soccer expansion team to Atlanta," said Dan Courtemanche, a spokesman for MLS. "However, we have not finalized an agreement at this time." The MLS has long coveted the Atlanta market, the largest in the U.S. without a team, as it moves toward its goal of expanding to 24 franchises. The 19-team league has already announced expansion franchises in New York City and Orlando that are scheduled to begin play next season, in addition to a provisional franchise in Miami owned by a group that includes David Beckham. That team is contingent on a deal for a new soccer-specific stadium in south Florida. There are no such concerns in Atlanta, where the Falcons new stadium was designed to accommodate an MLS team, providing Blank with additional revenue streams for the elaborate facility. While most MLS teams are moving toward smaller stadiums that are built solely for soccer, the Atlanta franchise would follow the model of teams in Seattle and Vancouver, which play in larger facilities downsized to provide a more intimate setting. For instance, Vancouvers BC Place has a curtain system that blocks off the upper deck, reducing capacity from 54,000 to 21,000. Atlantas new stadium will likely have a similar capability. Atlanta had two franchises in the old North American Soccer League. The Chiefs won the leagues first championship in 1968 but folded after the 1973 season, having spent their final year known as the Apollos. The Chiefs returned to the NASL in 1979 when the Colorado Caribous moved to Atlanta. That incarnation lasted only three seasons, never drawing as many as 8,000 fans a game before folding due to heavy financial losses. Atlanta has a team in a new version of the NASL, a league that ranks below MLS on the U.S. soccer ladder. The Silverbacks play at a 7,500-seat stadium on the outskirts of the city and are apparently not involved in talks on the MLS expansion team. LONDON -- After a gloomy start to 2014 for English Premier League teams in Europe, Tottenham achieved what five rivals failed to do -- win. Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City all opened the Champions League knockout phase with first-leg losses, while Chelsea drew. But on Thursday, straight after Swansea was knocked out of the Europa League, Tottenham overturned a 1-0 deficit against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk to win 3-1 at White Hart Lane and advance to the round of 16. Roman Zozulya headed the Ukrainian side in front at the start of the second half but, after Christian Eriksen levelled from a free kick, he was dismissed for head-butting Jan Vertonghen in the 62nd minute. Within six minutes, Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice to set up a meeting with Benfica, which beat PAOK Salonika 3-0 to go through 4-0 on aggregate. The last 16 will see two meetings of national rivals that should lift Europes less illustrious competition, with Juventus facing Fiorentina, and Sevilla playing Real Betis. Juventus replicated its 2-0 first-leg victory over Trabzonspor in Turkey, with goals from Arturo Vidal and Dani Osvaldo. And Fiorentina was held to 1-1 by Esbjerg of Denmark but advanced 4-2 on aggregate.Ben Roethlisberger Steelers Jersey. . Swanseas loss at Napoli gave Italy a third team in the next round and kept Rafa Benitez on course to win back-to-back Europa League titles. The Spanish manager, who lifted the trophy with Chelsea last season, saw his new team emerge 3-1 winners over Swansea after a goalless first leg in south Wales. Napoli will next face Porto, which drew 2-2 at Eintracht Frankfurt to advance on away goals with a 5-5 aggregate draw. But Serie A rival Lazio went out, drawing 3-3 at Ludogorets after losing 1-0 at home. Three Spanish teams also remain in the competition. Sevilla beat Maribor 2-1 to complete a 4-3 aggregate win over the Slovenian side, and Betis advanced 3-1 on aggregate after winning 2-0 at Rubin Kazan. Valencia relied on its 2-0 away win to oust Dynamo Kyiv after a scoreless draw in Spain, and will next face Ludogorets. Lyon beat Chornomorets Odesa 1-0 to setup a meeting with Viktoria Plzen after the Czech side beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 on aggregate. Ajax conceded another three goals against Red Bull Salzburg, losing 3-1 to allow the hosts to advance 6-1 overall. Salzburg will next play FC Basel after the Swiss side beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-0. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

"(Hes) McHot," Hurdle said. For once, it might be an understatement. The reigning National League MVP had two doubles and two RBIs to lift the Pirates to a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night. McCutchen is batting .428 (18 of 42) this month, with 15 of his hits going for extra bases. "Im seeing the ball and I get a pitch to hit and I hit it and its finding the gaps and thats basically whats happening right now for me," said McCutchen, a career .324 hitter in June. "Things are just working out right now and I want to continue to stay where Im at." RussellMartin also doubled twice for the Pirates and rookie GregoryPolanco got a hit in the third straight game since his call-up. EdinsonVolquez (4-5) pitched seven effective innings to win for the third time in his last five starts. Volquez struck out five and walked two while outpitching Chicago ace JeffSamardzija (2-6). It helped the Cubs could do little when given the chance. Chicago went 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. "He was commanding the zone like he does when he is in a good place and we were on the other side of it," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said of Volquez. McCutchen broke it open with a two-run double in the fifth. The Pirates had seven doubles in all, their highest total since a win over Houston in July 2010. "The next team that comes in here is probably better off pitching around him and letting him go to first base," Samardzija said. Pittsburgh made it 4-0 in the fifth when Polanco -- batting leadoff for the first time -- and StarlingMarte hit consecutive singles followed by drive by McCutchen to the notch in left-centre. McCutchen slid into the third on the play before making a rare mental miscue when he stepped off the base, allowing him to get tagged out in the process. "I guess thats why they say stay humble in this game, because crazy stuff like that will happen," McCutchen said. "Popping up, getting all excited and next thing you know Im floating all over the bag and his glove is right there so thats why you stay humble." It hardly mattered. NASHVILLE -- Nashville Predators goaltender PekkaRinne is expected to start Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins in his return from a hip injury that has limited him to only nine games this season. Hyun-Jin Ryu Authentic Jersey . The Predators recalled Rinne from a two-game conditioning assignment Monday and announced that he would start the Penguins game. "Its a blast to be back playing and feeling good," Rinne said. "I think thats the main thing. Absolutely, Im just super excited." Rinne, who hasnt played in an NHL game since Oct. 22, stopped 33 of 35 shots for a .946 save percentage during his two-game stint with the AHLs Milwaukee Admirals. "Its not in the same level -- the AHL and NHL -- theres a little bit of a gap between," Rinne said. "But still, that was the whole purpose of that trip, just to feel comfortable again, get some games and get that game conditioning going again." Rinne, a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist, has been recovering from an E. coli infection in his surgically repaired left hip. In his last five games before the injury, Rinne went 3-1-1 with a 1.60 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage. The 31-year-old Rinne is returning as the Predators make a late-season bid for one of the Western Conferences eight playoff spots. The Predators are 12th in the Western Conference standings with 62 points. The Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks are tied for eighth with 66 points. "You cant just throw a guy in there and expect him to be the saviour," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "But just getting him back playing is a great boost because you know the type of player that he is, the type of person he is and what he can mean to our hockey team, not only this year but the next year and the following years." The Predators also placed goaltender DevanDubnyk on waivers Monday. The 27-year-old Dubnyk has played 32 games for the Edmonton Oilers and two games with the Predators this season. LEXINGTON, Ky. Phil Niekro Braves Jersey . -- James Young couldnt wait to apply those tweaks to his jump shot, and the first one he made against UT Arlington told him it could be a good night. The Kentucky freshman made sure of that early and often. Young scored 26 points, including five 3-pointers, which helped No. 4 Kentucky put away the Mavericks 105-76 on Tuesday night. The Wildcats 6-foot-6 swingman made his first three from long range to jump-start an 8-of-14 shooting night and provide Kentuckys third different top scorer in three games. The career-best effort followed a meeting with coach John Calipari, video review and practice to change his mechanics from the fadeaway motion Young was developing back to squaring up. Everything worked. "I felt like I was back to my normal way of shooting, and I was getting more comfortable with shooting it," Young said. "We have a lot people who score, so if its somebodys night we just try to give him the ball as much as we can. I guess tonight was my night." Youngs hot shooting rubbed off on his talented fellow freshmen teammates. Julius Randle added 22 points with 10 rebounds, Andrew Harrison scored 15 and Marcus Lee 10 as Kentucky started an all-rookie lineup for the second consecutive game. Willie Cauley-Stein added 14 points and 10 rebounds as Kentucky (4-1) shot 35 of 69 (51 per cent) to win its inaugural matchup against UTA (2-3). The Wildcats also earned their second consecutive win since losing to Michigan State a week ago as the top-ranked team. Brandon Edwards 24 points led the Mavericks, who were outrebounded 46-34 including 29-13 in the second half. Leading just 42-33 at halftime, Kentuckys 13-5 run over 3:24 provided breathing room from UTA and the Wildcats steadily pulled away from there for their first 100-point game since beating LIU Brooklyn 104-75 last Nov. 23. Reger Dowell added 20 points for the Mavericks, who shot 26 of 63 (41percent). "The first half, I thought we did a great job to be able to outrebound them, it was definitely a positive for us," UTA coach Scott Cross said. "Of course, Kentucky responded well in the second half and absolutely mashed us on the boards." Calipari used his first-year players for longer stretches this time and the combinations were effective in wearing down the fast and stubborn Mavericks. While standing around certainly was out of the question against a UTA squad that always seemed a couple of 3-pointers away from mounting a run, Kentucky quickly seized the tempo right after the break and sustained that energy from then on. The Wildcats ended up with 18 assists and 28 second-chance points after tallying just nine in the first half. "My whole thing was an energy level where you had Edwards just going and smashing the boards and just taking the ball out of our hands," Calipari said. "Well, you just cant have that. In the second half, I thought we played with some emotion." Kentucky came in feeling pretty good after drubbing Robert Morris on Sunday night, where Aaron Harrison grabbed the spotlight away from Julius Randle with a career-high 28 points. His point total also marked a season best for the Wildcats and their crop of talented freshmen. Though everything remains a work in progress, the Wildcats took a step forward in that game with good perimeter shooting while dominating the Colonials in rebounding and in the post -- all of which pleased Calipari. Kentucky followed that up against the high-scoring Mavericks, who came in with a two-game winning streak and averaging nearly 89 points per game thanks to 34 per cent 3-point shooting. Despite falling behind 19-8 behind Youngs 13 points including 3-of-3 shooting from long range, UTA wasnt fazed by the deficit or Kentuckys numerous advantages in size and talent. The Mavericks managed a couple of baskets inside but stormed back into the contest with their strong perimeter game. UTA was 4 of 8 from beyond the arc in the first half thanks to Brandon Edwards, who sank a couple and scored 10 points during a 20-9 run over 6:24 to bring the Mavericks 28-25 late in the half. Kentucky answered with a 12-0 over 3:25 for its biggest lead at 40-25 but UTA closed the half with an 8-2 spurt to enter the break down just 42-33 and pleased with its rebounding edge. After that it was all Kentucky thanks to some chiding from Calipari to pick up the intensity. "He gets on everybody about it," Andrew Harrison said. "If hes saying it, hes not just saying it just to say it. Its true, and youre going to see it on film the next day, so you better not argue with him." Freddie Freeman Jersey . Final Score: Houston 102, Charlotte 83 Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - James Harden made a career-high eight 3- pointers and scored 36 points to help the Houston Rockets beat the Charlotte Hornets, 102-83, on Wednesday. Ginobilis big game, along with a fortunate bounce to close out regulation, helped the Spurs get back in the win column following a rough 2-7 stretch that included a loss to the Pelicans in New Orleans on Friday. New Orleans had taken an 84-82 edge on Anthony Davis second-chance slam with 0.7 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Hornets Omer Asik inadvertently tipped in Boris Diaws inbounds pass for Tim Duncan as the buzzer sounded to force extra time. Final Score: Oklahoma City 137, Phoenix 134 Oklahoma City, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Durant returned from a six-game absence to score a season-high 44 points with 10 rebounds and lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 137-134 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns. Durant sprained his right ankle after scoring 30 points in the first half at Golden State on Dec. 18, with the Thunder going 3-3 during his absence. Russell Westbrook was ejected late in the first half after making a contested layup, then walking over to the Suns bench and taunting them. He finished with 20 points for the Thunder. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts started and finished Tuesdays free agent binge by re-signing their own key players. Cheap Carolina Hurricanes Jerseys . In between, they added defensive lineman ArthurJones -- and it may be just the start. On a busy first day of free agency for the big-spending Colts, the emphasis was clear: They need to get better on defence. "He is a rare talent at 25 years of age who is still ascending as a player," general manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement announcing the deal with Davis. "We are excited to see him reach new heights in his career and help us attain our ultimate goal." For the Colts, the splashy grand entrance into free agency is becoming an annual affair. Last year, Indianapolis signed five high-priced unrestricted free agents on Day 1. On Tuesday, they focused on keeping their own players, agreeing to a two-year deal with longtime kicker AdamVinatieri in the morning and a four-year deal with Davis in the afternoon before re-signing running back AhmadBradshaw. But Indy couldnt even wait that long to get started. Last Thursday, the Colts signed former Browns linebacker DQwellJackson to a four-year deal. The next day, they re-signed punter PatMcAfee to a new five-year deal. On Monday, the Colts announced they had re-signed two more of their own free agents, defensive end FiliMoala and linebacker JustinHickman. Then came word of Vinatieris deal, which virtually assures the best clutch kicker in league history will remain the oldest player in the league in 2014 and 2015 and could make him a Colt for life. The 41-year-old Vinatieri said other teams were interested though the Colts were his first choice. "For me, as long as my bodys feeling healthy and I can continue to kick at a high level, I dont see why I cant continue to play on. I know Morten (Andersen) played until he was 47. I think Gary (Anderson) played until he was 46. I know Im 41 but in that sense, theres a handful of years left, not just two." Davis felt much the same way. After Miami traded Davis to Indy just before the 2012 season opener, the former first-round pick emerged as the Colts top cover cornerback. Most outsiders figured that with the price of cornerbacks rising considerably after SamShields signed a big deal with Green Bay and BrentGrimes signed a big deal with Miami, Davis was as good as gone if he didnt re-sign before the free agent market opened Tuesday afternoon. Not so. "My agent informed me that the Colts came in and we had an offer that we accepted," Davis said. "In reality, I didnt want to leave the Colts. I listened to other teams, but I wanted to get back (to Indy), so we made it work." Financial terms of the four deals were not immediately available. Indy also signed Jones, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound defensive end, who played his first two seasons in Baltimore when Colts coach Chuck Pagano was an assistant with the Ravens. Last season, Jones started a career high 13 games, finished with a career best 53 tackles and had four sacks. Hes big enough to play inside or outside in the Colts 3-4 front, but the Colts wanted Jones for more than just versatility. "He is an outstanding producer down after down versus the run and pass," Grigson said. "Hes a guy who plays at a championship level week after week and lays it on the line every time he steps out on the field. He is a great fit for our team." Jones is expected to undergo a team physical Wednesday. Bradshaw was off to a promising start last season after recovering from a foot injury, which led to his departure from the Giants. He rushed for 186 yards and two scores before injuring his neck in Week 3 against San Francisco in September. Bradshaw never returned from that injury and finished the season on injured reserve. Whats next for a team that started the day roughly $36 million under the $133 million salary cap is anybodys guess. The Colts are still looking to solidify their offensive line, especially after releasing starting centre SamsonSatele late last week to save about $4 million. They could still use another pass rusher to help NFL sacks champion RobertMathis; are likely still seeking a receiver to help AndrewLuck; and might now need a safety after losing two-time Pro Bowler AntoineBethea to San Francisco. But what Indianapolis does have is stability. "If there wasnt a business side in football, I would still choose to go back to the Colts," Davis said. "When you go to the Colts, man, its something you hold with you for the rest of your life." jerseys from china . -- The new starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs is a former first-round draft pick on a one-year deal whose career thus far has been a disappointment. ROME -- Serena Williams kept the crowd from being a factor in a 6-3, 6-0 victory over 10th-seeded home favourite Sara Errani to win the Italian Open for the third time Sunday. Nike Air Max 90 Goedkoop Bestellen . Errani was bidding to become the first Italian to win the tournament in nearly 30 years but the top-ranked Williams quickly took control in both sets and Errani appeared slowed by a left thigh problem. Errani left the court for an injury timeout while trailing 5-3 in the opening set and came back with her thigh bandaged. On the final point before she left the court, Errani pulled up and let a shot from Williams pass by her without even attempting to get to it. "Im sorry. You were unbelievable all week," Errani told fans during the victory ceremony, as she brushed back tears. "I tried to do my best and stayed on the court only for you." Williams other Rome titles came in 2002 and last year -- and she went on to win the French Open on both occasions. "Im also sorry for Sara today," Williams told the crowd in Italian. "She really played great all week." Later, seven-time champion Rafael Nadal was facing Novak Djokovic in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 meeting in the mens final of the last key clay-court tuneup for Roland Garros, which starts next weekend. A left thigh problem prompted Williams to withdraw before her quarterfinal match at the Madrid Open last week but now she appears back on track for the French. "Im not 100 per cent but Im just kind of going on adrenaline," Williams said. Organizers attempted to whip up patriotic fervour by having the Italian anthem sung before the players walked out onto the court, and fans continuously chanted "Sara, Sara" to try and encourage Errani in an atmosphere that more resembled a Davis Cup or Fed Cup setting. But Williams jumped out to a 3-0 lead and while Errani had a few chances to get back into the first set, Williams overpowered the Italian with her serve -- she had seven aces to Erranis none -- and overall attacking game. Still, Errani could console herself by becoming the first Italian runner-up in the tournament since Raffaella Reggi took the 1985 title in Taranto. The last Italian man to win was Adriano Panatta back in 1976. When former Italian player Lea Pericoli asked Errani during the trophy presentation if she was "disappointed" with her showing, the crowd responded with boos and whistles. Pericoli then acknowledged that Erranis appearance in the final was an accomplishment by itself. Injury permitting, Errani was slated to play the doubles final later with partner Roberta Vinci against Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik. It was the 60th title of Williams career, and a large portion of those trophies have come in recent years for the 32-year-old American. Martina Navratilova holds the record with 167 titles and Williams needs seven more to match Billie Jean King for sixth place on the all-time list. "Im like a fine wine, I guess -- at least my tennis is," Williams said. "My game gets better with age." An experienced professional. A player to watch and learn from. "Hes a fabulous member of any squad," said Toronto FC captain Steven Caldwell, whos known the 31-year-old Orr for more than 15 years and shares an agent. "A real character, a real winner." That character, in part, was forged the hard way. As a young man, he made mistakes that led to jail. Then the Liverpool native learned from them. If Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is looking for someone to mentor 21-year-old Raptors centre Jonas Valanciunas, charged this week with drunk driving, it probably need look no further than its sister soccer team and Orr. He made headlines in 2006 when he was one of three Bristol City players jailed for their part in a nightclub brawl. A fourth player was given community service. Orr and a teammate were sentenced to 28 days in jail. Wales international David Partridge was given two months behind bars. The players were also suspended and fined two weeks wages by their club. "Soccer Heroes in Prison Shame" was the headline in Englands Sun tabloid. It didnt help that just days before sentencing, Orr was sent off for attempting to head-butt a teammate during a nationally televised game. Some eight years later, Orr believes his biggest mistake was just being at the Romeo Browns nightclub. "Not a lot of people actually know the story and what happened," said Orr, who doesnt shy away from his past or his missteps. A teammate -- "not necessarily a friend" -- was thrown out of the nightclub and then became involved in a brawl with bouncers, two of whom were also charged later. "Things got out of hand. It was wrong place wrong time," said Orr. "He ended up getting a beating. I tried to stop it, got caught up in it and ended up finding myself in prison at the age of 23. "Not ideal but I probably wouldnt change it, because from that, a lot of thought and reflection went on. I decided there and then its either give it everything youve got and try to make the most of this amazing opportunity that Id been given. Or Im going to find myself like many other lads around the same age, and certainly from the same city, on the scrap heap where youve got a bit of ability, youve got the talent but you havent quite got the mentality or the maturity or the discipline to succeed." Orr said he made "little adjustments," worked on his weaknesses and "really knuckled down and gave it everything." "Its eight years down the line and Im still playing football for a living. Ive got an amazing family here with me. Ive got a lot of people who mean a lot to me." Many of those stuck by him during those "dark times." "I was a young lad, I was distraught. I thought my career was finished. You think the worst at that age and I had 23 hours a day to think about it in a cell." "Im just glad I learned from a mistake, in a positive way," he added. "The outcome since then has pretty good so far. I think Ive had a decent enough career and oone I can look back (at) with pride. Nike Air Max 90 Dames. "Even though that was an isolated incident and Im not proud of it, I certainly wouldnt change it because its probably helped make me who I am." Orr pleaded guilty based on advice that he would get some kind of community service. His father and girlfriend came to court, expecting to drive him home. Instead he was taken directly below to the cells. Orrs soccer journey featured stints with Newcastle United, Burnley, Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town and Blackpool before joining Toronto FC on loan in late January. He spent the bulk of his career with Bristol City, playing more than 225 games between 2004 and 2010. At 31, Orr is one of the grey beards on Toronto FCs squad. Only Dwayne De Rosario (35), Caldwell (33) and Jermain Defoe (by less than a month) are older. Orr showed his value Saturday in Columbus when injuries and suspension pressed him into service as centre back, alongside 21-year-old rookie Nick Hagglund. Toronto blanked the previously unbeaten Crew 2-0 with Orr one of three TFC players subsequently named to the MLS team of the week. The performance out of position is just why manager Ryan Nelsen acquired Orr. "For me, we needed just hardened guys who have kind of seen both sides of the tracks, if you know what I mean," Nelsen said. "Just so our young guys can learn what it takes to be a pro, to win away (games), to do the little things that it takes to be a good team. And you generally learn that from experience." Nelsen knows talent is not everything. Character plays a huge role in how far a player goes. "Our young guys have got to see that. Because its the best lesson to learn, that theyve got to do a lot of ugly stuff before they can kind of get to that top." Ask Orr about Hagglunds performance in Columbus and the veteran beams. "He was fantastic. I was delighted for Nick. His attitude towards his profession is absolutely (a) different class. He comes in every day really willing to learn and work hard. And theyre the type of lads who you want to see do well." One of the reasons Orr opted for MLS was he wanted to take himself out of his comfort zone and test himself. He has not regretted the move. Orr, who came to Canada with his wife and five-year-old twin boys, has marvelled at the passion of Torontos fans for sports. "Its really mind-blowing," said Orr. He is also blown away by Toronto FCs set-up "How can you not love this place?" he asked, pointing at the clubs well-appointed training centre. "The facilities are world-class. The citys fantastic." "So far Im loving it. Hopefully that can continue and I cant see no reason why not," he added. Orr has jumped right into Torontos sports community, taking in both Leafs and Raptors games. Hes also not afraid of getting out among the fans. A lifelong "big, big" Liverpool fan -- his 21-year-old nephew Jon Flanagan plays for the Reds -- Orr recently found out where the local supporters club was based. So he and Caldwell, with sons in tow, dropped in to see a recent Sunday game over breakfast. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

CALGARY -- One of the most recognizable faces on the Canadian womens hockey team will not play in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Matt Read Jersey . Defenceman Tessa Bonhomme was among three players released from the team Tuesday morning along with defenceman Brigette Lacquette of Waterhen, Man., and Winnipeg forward Jenelle Kohanchuk. Bonhomme was a veteran of the womens team that won Olympic gold in 2010 in Vancouver. "I dont think it matters who you are, youre always surprised when a cut is made," Bonhomme said. "Ive never counted my chickens before they were hatched and I always knew I would have to earn my spot no matter what. "At the beginning of the year, I felt great, like I was playing the way I should and then I kind of ran into a little bit of health issues and didnt really bounce back the way I wanted to." Head coach Dan Church reduced his roster to 24 players as Canada prepares for the chance to defend gold in February. One more defencemen and two more forwards will be released before the 21-player Olympic roster is announced in late December. Bonhomme raised her profile and that of womens hockey with appearances on "Wipeout Canada" and CBCs "Battle of the Blades" post-2010. Bonhomme has also done television work for Leafs TV in Toronto. The 28-year-old from Sudbury, Ont., represented Canada in four world championships in addition to the Olympics. She won three gold and two silver in those tournaments. "I tried this afternoon to try to sit down and realize what Id worked so hard for the past three years isnt going to happen," Bonhomme said. "Im OK with that. Im an adult and this is what I signed up for, an opportunity to try out. "Im thankful Dan and Hockey Canada gave me the opportunity to come out here and try and prove what I got. Unfortunately it wasnt enough." Bonhomme, Lacquette and Kohanchuk had just played in the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., where Canada beat Finland 6-3 in Saturdays final. Kohanchuk scored twice in the championship game. "We didnt foresee they were going to be able to move themselves up enough to overtake who was ahead of them on the depth chart at this point," Church said. "It didnt matter how many weeks were still (to go), we didnt see that happening based on the body of work to date." Lacquette, 21, and Kohanchuk, 23, were rookies on the national team. Between them, theyve played 15 international games since the 27 players arrived in Calgary in August. Bonhomme appeared in her 100th international game during the Four Nations. Offensively skilled and quick on her skates, Bonhomme has 10 goals and 41 assists for Canada, but didnt have any points in Lake Placid. She sat out some games this fall because of a crushed nerve she suffered in an Oct. 1 game, as well as a bout of shingles. "Those are by no means excuses," Bonhomme said. "I would never rely on one of those for the reason I was playing bad. Maybe I just didnt perform up to the standard or up to par that they wanted and they decided to release me at the first chance they got. "Ive trusted the coaching staff from the get-go and I trust that they made the right decision. I have no doubt in my mind this team will be successful." Bonhomme was one of 13 veterans from 2010 invited to try out for the Olympic team again, but she was beaten out of her job by younger defenders. Lauriane Rougeau, Laura Fortino, Courtney Birchard and Tara Watchorn are newcomers to Canadas blue-line since 2010. Jocelyne Larocque, who was released from the 2010 team, and 2010 vets Catherine Ward and Meaghan Mikkelson are the experienced defencemen remaining. "In looking at the number of defencemen we have, it comes down to a numbers game and who is ahead of whom at this point in the season," Church said. "We have a lot of talented young players playing really well right now. "At this point, we have seven defencemen here who have been a little bit more consistent in their level of competition and thats why theyre still here." The Canadian women often say the Olympic Games is their Stanley Cup. That makes it difficult to tell them they wont be going, said Church. "While its a real tough day for coaches, its the toughest day for players," Church said. "They were all emotional in their own way, but they all handled it very dignified. It was a tough day all around. "Tessa was a true professional. She just thanked us and that was pretty much it." Bonhomme intends to return to Toronto, re-join the Toronto Furies of the Canadian Womens Hockey League and pursue a masters degree in speech pathology. She was the first female hockey player on "Battle of the Blades" which pairs hockey players with figure skaters. Bonhomme and David Pelletier were crowned the winners. "Maybe Ill go online and check out some new reality TV shows," Bonhomme said. "Theres got to be a few shows I can apply for and hopefully get on." Meghan Agosta-Marciano, Rebecca Johnston, Jennifer Wakefield, Gillian Apps, Caroline Ouellette, Melanie Daoust, Jayna Hefford, Bailey Bram, Brianne Jenner, Haley Irwin, Hayley Wickenheiser, Natalie Spooner, Vicki Bendus and Marie-Philip Poulin are the remaining forwards after the release of Kohanchuk. "Jenelle had played very well from the start of the season until now. We just didnt see that she was going to be able to move up enough to make our final roster," Church said. "Shes a hard-working player and a real good person, so it was hard to let her go, just as it was the other two players. "Brigette is a talented defender and I think theres potential for her down the road if she matures and becomes a more well-rounded athlete." Shannon Szabados, Charline Labonte and Genevieve Lacasse will be Canadas goaltenders in Sochi. Church informed Bonhomme, Kohanchuk and Lacquette of his decision prior to the teams departure for Grande Prairie, Alta., on Tuesday. The Canadian women resume their schedule of games against Alberta Midget Hockey League teams there Wednesday. Canada has played 27 games against mens teams in the AMHL and international womens teams since the players centralized in Calgary in August. Canada and the U.S. women will meet again Dec. 12 in Calgary, followed by their exhibition games in Grand Forks, N.D., on Dec. 20, St. Paul, Minn., on Dec. 28 and Toronto on Dec. 30. Luke Schenn Flyers Jersey . For some schools, these tournaments act as final tune-ups before March Madness to get their teams into gear before the Big Dance actually starts. Luke Schenn Jersey .
