SAN FRANCISCO -- TimHudson has spent most of the season leading the San Francisco Giants to victories. Wei-Yin Chen Authentic Jersey . This time, his teammates backed him up on a rare off night. MichaelMorse hit an RBI single with one out in the ninth inning after HunterPences tying double, and the Giants rallied to beat the New York Mets 5-4 Saturday night to extend baseballs best record. "It just tells you what kind of team we have," said Morse, who helped teammates tear off his jersey during a wild celebration on the infield. "We find a way." AngelPagan had three singles, two RBIs and got on base all five times against his former team. He reached leading off the ninth when catcher AnthonyRecker dropped the third strike and his throw pulled LucasDuda off first base. Mets manager Terry Collins challenged the play but lost. Pence hit a double that scored Pagan and advanced to third on BusterPoseys deep fly to left-centre. After JenrryMejia (1-2) intentionally walked PabloSandoval, Morse sent a single to deep right and was mobbed by teammates before he reached second. San Francisco improved to 6-0 at home when Hudson starts. "Im as proud of this game as I have been of any of them," said Hudson, who allowed season highs of nine hits and three walks in five innings. "Even though it was probably my worst game from a pitching standpoint, these kinds of games are very satisfying because these are the games that most of the time your teams lose when your starting pitcher goes out there and doesnt really have his stuff. We were able to battle and win. Thats the mark of a championship club." It was Mejias first blown save in seven chances. The Mets have lost five straight. JeremyAffeldt (2-1) tossed one scoreless inning to help the Giants (41-21) win for the ninth time in 11 games. BartoloColon gave up three runs -- one earned -- and eight hits in 5 2-3 innings for the Mets. The 41-year-old, who spent the past two seasons across the bay in Oakland, struck out four and walked two. Hudson, who began the game with a majors-best 1.75 ERA, is the first pitcher in San Francisco history with an ERA below 2.00 through his first 12 starts with the team. Even with the tough outing, Hudsons ERA is 1.97. The Mets grabbed leads of 3-0 and 4-1, but stranded 12 runners on base. "We did a good job of limiting the damage," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. The Mets ended Hudsons scoreless streak at 16 consecutive innings in the second, when Duda doubled and scored on Reckers single. In the third, Duda broke his bat hitting an RBI single off the wall in right and Recker drove in another run to give the Mets a 3-0 lead. The Mets might have had more if not for a baserunning blunder. RubenTejada was tagged out between second and third after Duda stopped at third and Recker ran to second. With the bases loaded and no outs in the fifth, Posey grounded into a double play to score San Franciscos first run. Colon then got Sandoval to fly out. New York extended its lead to 4-1 on a wild pitch by GeorgeKontos in the sixth, but couldnt overcome an error by third baseman DavidWright in the bottom of the inning. Wright fielded a grounder and misfired to second trying to get the lead runner with two outs. Pagan followed with a two-run single to bring the Giants within 4-3 and chase Colon. Pences single loaded the bases for Posey again, but JeurysFamilia struck out Posey on a sinking fastball clocked at 96 mph. NOTES: Giants reliever SantiagoCasilla, who is on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring, threw 30 pitches in the bullpen. He is scheduled to throw again before Mondays game and could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Wednesday. ... The Mets optioned C TravisdArnaud to Triple-A Las Vegas after the game and called up C TaylorTeagarden. ... Collins said Wright, who has started the first 62 games this season, will likely get Sunday off. The Mets dont play Monday. ... Former Giants prospect ZackWheeler takes the mound for the Mets against San Franciscos TimLincecum (4-4, 5.01 ERA) in Sundays series finale. J.J. Hardy Orioles Jersey . - The Chicago Cubs say they have agreed to one-year contracts with pitchers JasonHammel and JamesMcDonald. Brooks Robinson Orioles Jersey . Now he can be had by any team willing to pay his salary. According to a report from ESPN, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are shopping the veteran CB and plan on releasing him Wednesday if they cant find a trade partner. MIAMI -- RayAllen was somewhat surprised to see how open he was. So was DwyaneWade, who even took an extra dribble before believing his eyes and sending a 50-foot pass to the best 3-point shooter in NBA history. Moments later, the Miami Heat were back on track. Allen scored 14 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter on a milestone day for the veteran, Wade and LeBronJames each added 24 points and the Heat closed with a flourish to beat the Houston Rockets 113-104 on Sunday and snap their worst stretch of results since 2011. "When Ray gets into a rhythm, hes the best 3-point shooter of all-time," said Heat forward ChrisBosh, who scored 18 points to help Miami win for just the second time in its last seven games. Miami trailed 97-92 following a 3-pointer by JamesHarden midway through the fourth, then finished the game on a 21-7 run. Allen had 11 points during that late stretch, including a 3-pointer that allowed him to pass AllenIverson for 21st on the NBAs scoring list. It was also the 750th regular-season win that Allen was a part of in his career. "I dont know how I get open," said Allen, who took about 1,000 shots on a practice day Saturday by Heat coach Erik Spoelstras estimate. "When I am, I have to be ready to shoot it." Harden finished with 30 points for Houston, which got 21 points and 14 rebounds from DwightHoward. PatrickBeverley added 15 points and TerrenceJones scored 12 for the Rockets, whove dropped three straight. "We just didnt play well down the stretch," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. And that all started when no one seemed to want to guard Allen. Houston led by five when Wade sparked the late run with a 50-foot assist after a timeout that set up a 3-pointer from the left corner by Allen. "A critical possession," Wade said. Allen also made three technical-foul free throws to help his late rhythm. One came after a defensive three-second violation, another following Houstons second delay-of-game whistle on the afternoon, and the third when Beverley was hit with a technical in the final minute. James hit a pair of free throws with 46 seconnds left for his first points of the final quarter, and that sealed it for Miami, which moved back within three games of Indiana for the No. Manny Machado Orioles Jersey. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference. Allen now has 24,370 points, two more than Iverson. Afterward, he was all about the win. "Tonight we came out and finished the game," Allen said, "as opposed to letting it slip away from us." The first surprise of the day came about 20 minutes before tip-off, when the Heat announced GregOden -- who appeared in his 100th career game, nearly seven years after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft -- would be starting at centre. It was the second start of the season for Oden, who also opened a game against Chicago last month in part because James was unavailable while dealing with a broken nose. Oden had three rebounds in the games first three minutes, and the Heat never trailed in the first half, going into the break with a 57-54 lead. Harden and Howard combined for 15 in the third, and Houston led 81-79 entering the final 12 minutes. "It was a couple of mental mistakes for us down the stretch and they had a couple of calls go their way," Harden said. "Its tough. Clearly, it was a win Miami needed. Wades fiancee, Gabrielle Union, was on her feet to yell and cheer midway through the fourth, and James wife, Savannah, was nearby doing the same thing, almost as if it was a playoff game. Like all other Heat fans, they finally left a game happy. "They see the way weve been acting at home in between games," James said of his wife and Wades fiancee. "We came in with a mindset that we wanted to get this win. It was good to see us have to gut one out." NOTES: Allen appeared in his 1,287th game, breaking a tie with Sam Perkins for 15th on the career list. He could pass MarkJackson (1,296) and Elvin Hayes (1,303) later this season. ... Houstons ChandlerParsons became the 15th player to log at least 5,000 minutes over the last two seasons. ... JeremyLin has been on teams that have played at Miami eight times; theyre 0-8 in those games, though hes appeared in only three of those contests. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

AVONDALE, Ariz. Ernie Banks Jersey . -- A few drivers, like Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, raced onto the track to get in their qualifying sessions. Others waited, some nearly 10 minutes, before heading out for the first time. There were long stretches with almost no activity followed by mad scrambles to get runs in before time ran out. Cars raced past each other at close to a 100 mph difference. No doubt, this first round of NASCARs new knockout qualifying was a little strange and will take some getting used to. Brad Keselowski earned the first Sprint Cup pole under NASCARs new format, edging Joey Logano with a track-record top speed of 139.384 mph at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday. "Its a lot more nerve-racking," Keselowski said. "Usually a pretty good rule of thumb is that If its more nerve-racking for the drivers, its a lot more fun for our fans and partners and all those things, and thats a good thing. Im more interested in feedback from our fans to see if they liked it." Keselowski was one of the first drivers to go out in the first session and finished behind Logano. He trumped his teammate in the shorter, second session to earn his fourth career pole and a spot on the front row for Sundays 312-mile race. Jamie McMurray qualified third, defending Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson was fourth and Daytona 500 champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start fifth, next to Greg Biffle. "The qualifying format was before because I felt like I was one of those guys it was exciting for me because I wasnt in, I made another run, I got in," McMurray said. "The excitement was there." NASCAR made numerous changes for this season, including a tweaked qualifying process in an effort to liven up what had become a monotonous part of race weekend. Instead of going out one at a time, the entire field gets a 30-minute session to post their fastest lap, with the top 12 moving on to a 10-minute second round. On bigger tracks, the qualifying will have three sessions, with the field cut to 24 then 12. NASCAR got a glimpse of the new system at Daytona last week, but it didnt last long; the Nationwide series was able to get in one round before rain washed out the rest of the qualifying and for the Truck Series. The Daytona 500 didnt use the new qualifying process, so Phoenix was the inaugural go-round. No one knew quite what to expect and there was a bit of concern about drivers intentionally blocking each other to prevent fast lap times, something NASCAR officials planned to keep an eye on. Instead, the action on the track was sparse for long stretches, with some drivers racing out to get qualifying laps in right away while several others waited several minutes to get their first lap in. One issue while there were multiple cars on the track were the speeds. NASCAR decided against allowing teams to have cool down units in their pit stalls, so most of the drivers in the field put in one fast lap and one that was much slower to cool their engines, creating differences of up to 100 mph between the cars. "Weve got a really good dialogue with all of our competitors," said Robin Pemberton, NASCARs vice-president for competition and racing development. "They dont want to force us to do something thats wrong. They weigh in because they think things can be better. Its our job to take and balance all that out and remove the agenda part of that a team may or may not have. Right now, its working pretty good." For the first session, Logano and Keselowski were at the front of the pack along pit road -- by random drawing -- and raced to get out in front on the track so theyd have a clear path. Logano put up the fastest time early and Keselowski was right behind him in second. Despite teams coming in for adjustments -- one crewmember was allowed to come over the wall to make minor changes -- those two stayed out front for the entire first session. For the final session, Keselowski put up his fast time relatively early in the 10-minute window and swapped places with Logano for the pole. "Unfortunately, we won the wrong one," Logano said. "We won the first one and our teammate got the second one, but either way we both had a chance to win something. He just got the trophy to take the pictures with." Darwin Barney Cubs Jersey . Cassano has been at the Policlinico facility since Saturday, when he was taken for tests after suffering what the club described as a brain problem on the team plane following the teams 3-2 victory over Roma. Starlin Castro Jersey . LOUIS -- St. METZ, France -- Third-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine rallied from a set down to beat Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-3 Wednesday and reach the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open. He was joined by No. 4 Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia, who beat French qualifier Nicolas Renavand 7-5, 7-5, and eight-seeded Gilles Muller of Luxembourg who overcame French wild card Benoit Paire 7-6 (5), 6-4. Dolgopolov saved six of the seven break points he faced against Baghdatis. Ljubicic, who won the tournament in 2005, hit 13 aces and broke Renavvand once in each set. Kosuke Fukudome Jersey. Meanwhile, Arnaud Clement of France, Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany and Igor Kunitsyn of Russia all advanced to the second round. Clement, the 2003 champion, beat Michael Llodra 6-3, 6-4 and will next face Nicolas Mahut of France. The seventh-seeded Kohlschreiber beat Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy 6-4, 7-6 (4), and Kunitsyn defeated Kenny De Schepper 7-5, 5-7, 6-4. Kohlschreiber will next play Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling, while Kunitsyn will meet sixth-seeded Xavier Malisse of Belgium. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

A day after the Los Angeles Lakers confirmed KobeBryant would not return from a knee injury this season, coach Mike Dantoni has confirmed SteveNash will also remain out for the duration of the year. zapatillas adidas hombre zx 750 . "Hes not going to play," DAntoni told reporters, according to the Los Angeles Times. "It doesnt make any sense for him to come back for 15 games, whatever." Nash, 40, who is suffering from a nerve-root irritation in his left leg, has appeared in just 10 games this season and never played more than 30 minutes in any of those contests. Speaking to the Bruce Arthur of TSNs The Reporters and the National Post, Nash said reaggravating his existing condition has thrown his entire career into question and perspective. "It just threw everything off, just enough," he said. "Its almost like it threw everything off just enough to let age be a factor. You know? I was kind of holding back age, and one little thing sets it off. In two seasons in Los Angeles, Nash has appeared in 60 games. new balance 574 hombre baratas . Winnipeg Jets 4 San Jose Sharks 3 (Jets 33-32-9, 16-17-3 road) The win was the second for the Jets against San Jose this season, and evened the Jets record to 1-1 on the five game road trip. The game started a stretch of four games in six nights for the Jets. The Jets did not gain any ground on Phoenix, as the Coyotes beat New Jersey in a shootout to pick up five-of-six points on their three game road trip. It was the Jets 42nd one-goal game of the year; they have won 19 of them. Jets were again minus Ondrej Pavelec and Zach Bogosian due to injury, while Devin Setoguchi was not in the lineup coachs decision. Pavelec practiced with the team Wednesday, Bogosian did not.? Mark Stuart was shaken up late in the San Jose game and only returned for one shift. Jets are in LA Saturday. (TSN 1290) Dan Boyle opened the scoring 1:57 in, only to have Andrew Ladd tie the game 36 seconds later with his 22nd of the year. Micheal Frolik and Bryan Little drew assists, Little extending his point streak to four. For Ladd it was his fifth goal in the last seven games and eighth in the last 12 games. Brent Burns on a power play at 14:27 sent the Sharks to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead. Shots were 11-10 San Jose. Blake Wheeler with his 25th of the year at 1:55 of the second tied the game. The goal was unassisted.? Wheeler then set up Dustin Byfuglien for his 20th of the year to give the Jets their first lead. It was Byfugliens eighth power play goal of the year. He has now tied his career high for goals, points and power play goals. Byfuglien has 24 points on the Jets 37 power play goals. It was his seventh goal in the last nine games. Frolik picked up his second point of the game with an assist on the goal. Shots in the second were 10-9 San Jose with the Jets up 3-2. For the second straight game the Jets surrendered two ppower play goals against, as Logan Couture pulled the Sharks even at 11:23. zapatillas adidas zx 700 mujer. The Sharks then got themselves in penalty trouble as while killing a penalty, Couture put a clearing attempt over the glass and for 10 seconds the Jets had a 5-on-3. The Sharks killed that off but with a one-man advantage Wheeler set up Toby Enstrom for the game winner at 16:24. Little also drew an assist, giving him 10 points in the last 10 games, and 25 points in his last 28 games. The three point night gives Wheeler 11 points in the last seven games and 31 points in the last 30 games. He has 62 points on the season, two shy of his career high. It was his third three point game of the season. Enstroms goal was his ninth of the year, one shy of his career high. Enstrom is now 2-7-9 in his last 7 games. It was his third power play goal of the year and only the Jets 12th power play road goal of the year with three so far on this road trip. Shots in the third were 12-9 Jets and 31-30 Jets on the game, as Al Montoya in his sixth straight start, picked up his 13th win of the season. Jacob Trouba again led the team in ice time, as he played 24:53. Andrew Ladd had seven shots on goal, one shy of his single-game career high. Trouba had six shots on goal. Jim Slater was 75% in the face off department, winning six-of-eight. Paul Maurice was very impressed with his top players, especially Wheeler. He just keeps getting stronger and more powerful. He does so much for our team. On Ladds goal that tied the game early in the first: it was big, settled our bench down. On the win: Its the first time weve talked about the playoff race. Its a huge hill to climb, but we cant look at that as the reason we played hard. We have to play hard for faith and confidence in the room. cheap jerseys from chinacheap jerseys ' ' ' |

IMATRA, Finland -- Canada is off to the semifinal round at the world under-18 hockey championship, thanks to Travis Konecny. zapatillas new balance 574. Konecnys third-period goal earned Canada a 3-2 quarter-final victory over Switzerland on Thursday. He scored with 30 seconds remaining in regulation after Switzerland had tied it earlier in the period. Switzerland pulled goalie Gauthier Descloux for the extra attacker afterwards but couldnt beat Canadian netminder Mason McDonald to force overtime. "I think its the same old story, were finding a way," Canadian team coach Kevin Dineen said after the game. "But weve got to do a much better job of showing up the way we play. "Hockey Canada put together some good character players and some talented players. I think weve survived on our talent, now we have to start relying on a little more character." Canada, which finished the preliminary round atop Group A, faces the Czech Republic in the semifinals Saturday in Lapeenranta, Finland. The Czechs, who were second to the U.S. in Group B, advanced with 3-2 quarter-final win over Russia here. John Quenneville and Jake Virtanen had the other goals for Canada, the defending tournament champion. McDonald stopped 19 shots. Dominik Diem and Kevin Fiala replied for Switzerland, which outshot Canada 21-17 but was just 1-for-7 on the man advantage. "Our penalty kill really stood out and I give a lot of credit to our defence, they had a really solid game," Dineen said. "That group really made a difference for us, it was a really satisfying win from that perspective." However, Dineen felt his players didnt make things easy for themselves throughout the game. "Undisciplined penalties, I thought, were an issue for us," he said. "We put ourselves in a lot of disadvantages, not just in terms of manpower but wearing out the body over and over. "Also, our puck decisions have to be better, both in our defensive zone and at the opponents blue-line. I think we were just a little bit too cute and it kept on coming back on us." Diem opened the scoring at 7:50 of the first before Virtanen tied it on the power play at 17:28. Quenneville, a second cousin to Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville, had the lone goal of the second, putting Canada ahead 2-1 with an even-strength marker at 11:58. But the Swiss tied it again on Fialas power-play goal at 15:43 of the third, setting the stage for Konecnys late-period heroics. "We got the right guys on the ice and fortunately ended up with the puck," Dineen said "Even though it wasnt overtime it was pretty dramatic nonetheless. "I thought the Swiss played a heck of a game, they were the better team for stretches. We mightve learned a pretty good lesson and survived this one. Were not going to be that fortunate against the Czechs. Were going to have to change the way we do our business to have that success." Dineen saw some of the Czech Republic-Russia game and was impressed with the Czechs resilience. "I thought in all honesty the Russians played very well but obviously they (Czechs) are a worthy opponent and found a way to stick around," Dineen said. "Theyre pesky and at the end of the night ended up with the win." The Americans take on Sweden in the other semifinal Saturday. The U.S. beat Slovakia 6-2 in its quarter-final game while the Swedes advanced with a lopsided 10-0 victory over Finland. The semifinal victors will meet Sunday in the tournament final after the losers square off in the bronze medal game. nike roshe run hombre baratas . Check out todays trade-related reports and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca through Deadline Day for all the updates. Miller Time TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun writes on ESPN.com that Buffalo Sabres general manager Tim Murray is already hearing calls for his pending unrestricted free agents. "Were just starting to explore the market the last day or two," Murray said. "Ive had some calls, and most of the calls are just generalities: If I can meet your demand, would you be willing to move him? So you have teams calling, for sure, and theyre asking about different players. Every team has a different need; the same names come up, obviously, as far as the forwards go. My mandate here is to get better. I dont want a five-year rebuild, thats not what Im about. Its about getting better, and if that means trading guys and getting assets for them, then thats the way it will be." Murray is also considering all of his options with pending UFA RyanMiller, including the possibility of re-signing him. LeBrun adds that if Miller isnt interested in staying, Murray will move him at the trade deadline. Sticking With The Tandem Michael Traikos of The National Post wriites that Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis admitted that he has been received several calls regarding goaltenders JonathanBernier and JamesReimer, but has no intentions to break them up right now. new balance 574 nios baratas. "I havent thought that too far, but could I see a scenario where both goalies were back next season? Yes," he told the paper. "Weve gone this far because of our goaltending. Oilers Options Jonathan Willis writes in the Edmonton Journal that while a skilled veteran forward like AlesHemsky could be appealing to another NHL team, the Oilers have needs (size up front and blue line help) that the return on trading Hemsky trade wont address. Willis suggests a player like JordanEberle or NailYakupov younger players with attractive contracts right now - would be more helpful. Time To Talk? Newsdays Arthur Staple writes that contract talks could begin soon between the ThomasVaneks agent and the New York Islanders. If Vanek isnt willing to re-sign a long-term deal, Staple thinks theyll dangle him at the trade deadline. Staple adds that theres been talks between the Islanders and soon-to-be UFA blueliner AndrewMacDonald. Staple says hes seeking a contract at about $5 million per season. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

With one week to go until the March 5 NHL trade deadline, our TSN Hockey Insiders discuss some of the names that have been making waves with some insight on their situations and chances of being dealt. Antonio Gates Womens Jersey . There are certain names that our Hockey Insiders have been talking about for months, RyanMiller, ThomasVanek, MattMoulson. But the most intriguing names as we head towards TradeCentre are the most recent ones - MartinSt.Louis and RyanKesler. Lets start with the latter. What are the real chances that Kesler gets dealt by the Canucks? Bob McKenzie: Well its by no means guaranteed but it is a possibility. The buzz on Kesler is increasing by the day. Now, we should get the disclaimers out of the way. The Vancouver Canucks are not aggressively shopping and trying to trade RyanKesler, but I do believe that theyre aggressively listening. Keep in mind though that Kesler has got a no-move, no-trade clause, so hes not going anywhere he doesnt want to go. Keep in mind also that hes technically injured right now, hes got a finger injury that might be broken, were only guessing. The Canucks say hes day-to-day so hopefully that wont come into play. But the question then becomes what would the Canucks have to get back in order to consider trading Kesler? It would obviously be a lot. What theyre going to be looking for is to pick up a young centre between the ages of 20-25 who can grow into the role that Kesler is in right now. Somebody that gives you a fighting chance at a reload if not necessarily a rebuild. So for example, would Kesler be prepared to go back to Ohio - he played at Ohio State University - for the Columbus Blue Jackets? And if he was prepared to do that, would the Blue Jackets give up a young centre like RyanJohansen? Would the New York Rangers give up DerekStepan, or someone along those lines? Again, someone who is between 20 and 25 who the Canucks can put in their lineup. If they can find the absolute right fit, and they would have to take some money back on Kesler because in order to make these trades, theres a lot of teams that are capped out and would have a tough time taking his salary - although when you look at his contract its an awesome contract for that guy. So yeah, its being considered. Darren Dreger: Well, theres no shortage of interest in Kesler. When hes healthy and competing with the edge that his reputation has been built on, what not to like about him? But when you talk to general managers who might be nibbling at the edges and might have interest in a player like Kesler, there is some concern. When hes healthy, he does have a history of health issues and hes not as intense and productive as hes been in recent years, so hes not entirely without risk. MartinSt.Louis...when he refuses to deny that he has asked for a trade, saying there have been conversations, hes essentially saying "Ive asked for trade". Could this happen? Dreger: It absolutely could happen between now and March 5, and it could also drag into the off-season. What we know is that the Tampa Bay Lightning did reach out to the New York Rangers prior to the Olympics to gauge interest in the possibility of trading such a dynamic and an impactful player within their organization. Now, it wasnt a fit at that point, and its going to be a complicated process to make it fit again now between now and March 5. Thats because SteveYzerman isnt going to give St. Louis away. This is going to be a difficult negotiation and the Rangers, as much as they love St. Louis and what he might bring to their team, hes also 38 years of age and thats going to be difficult to give prime assets for. McKenzie: For sure. I would kind of be shocked if St. Louis got traded by the deadline, and if he really does wants out of Tampa Bay - and the indication seems to be that he does - then its much more likely to be resolved in the off-season then right now, but I guess you never say never. The thing if I were Yzerman I would look at is, St. Louis, if he was unhappy before, hes playing really well. And the Lightning are a good team and I dont know how you get immediate true value for St. Louis right now that doesnt interrupt the Tampa Bays progress toward making the playoffs and being a contender in the East. AndreiMarkov has gone from injury-prone defenceman to a mini-iron man. He hasnt missed a game now in two seasons, and that presents a contract quandary to Montreal Canadiens GM MarcBergevin. How much of a risk is he in terms of giving him term when hes 35 years old with a bunch of knee surgeries behind him? McKenzie: Well I guess the question is what is the term? I mean, lets make one thing perfectly clear - the Canadiens like Markov and want to re-sign him. Its been reported on Montreal radio that the Canadiens have offered one year at $6 million, which is a raise of salary, but only one year on the extension because hes 35 and over. My understanding is the Canadiens are not absolutely locked into "were only offering you a one-year deal, thats it, take it or leave it". But there is some flexibility on the part of the Canadiens to do a one-year, or maybe a two-year deal. Keep in mind, because youre an over-35 player, you can use games played bonuses and you can really jack up the salary based on those bonuses that you cant do with other contracts. That said, the question is how flexible is Markov? The word Im getting is that he may be looking for as much as a four-year deal, which seems really long for a guy of his age and injury history. Now is he flexible? Maybe it means four years, maybe it means three. So there is an issue with term. The issue then becomes, do they trade him before the deadline? I would be surprised, unless they got an offer that absolutely blew them away, but I think their goal is to try to get it signed, and I think this is a negotiation.Malcom Floyd Chargers Jersey . 10 San Diego State to a 73-64 win over UNLV on Wednesday night. Eric Weddle Chargers Jersey . Bilodeau, from Montreal, won his third straight World Cup moguls event over the weekend, edging out teammate and rival Mikael Kingsbury of Deux-Montagnes, Que. Kingsbury and Marc-Antoine Gagnon of Terrebonne, Que. LAS VEGAS -- Team North America helped its bid to become the first back-to-back winner in the history of the Continental Cup by winning two games and tying another in Saturday nights closing round of traditional team games. With the results, North America claimed 2.5 of the three available points, opening up a 17.5-12.5 lead in the overall standings. A total of 60 points are available, meaning the first team to 30.5 points will win the Continental Cup. As reigning champions, North America needs only 30 points to win. North Americas Jeff Stoughton of Winnipeg recorded the most crowd-pleasing win of the evening, using a double-takeout to score four en route to a 6-2 win over Team Worlds Niklas Edin of Sweden. "Its a good thing we listened to the crowd," said a laughing Stoughton. "We were just looking at how we could jam the rock. We were going to play the double the whole time. We wanted to see which way we wanted to hit it to miss the back two or at least jam off it so it was fun. It was nice to let the crowd influence you a little bit." In other action, Team North Americas Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg made a double takeout with her last rock of the game for a 6-5 win over Team Worlds Satsuki Fujisawa of Japan. Brandon Flowers Chargers Jersey. "I wouldnt want anyone else throwing that rock," said Joness vice-skip Kaitlyn Lawes. "She had a fantastic game. She had draw weight in her pocket, she was making the big shots when we needed to come through -- when I would miss." In the other Saturday night game, Team North Americas John Shuster of Duluth, Minn., stole one in the eighth end when Team Worlds Thomas Ulsrud of Norway was just a hair tight with his last rock, producing a 6-6 tie and half a point for both sides. Skins games begin Sunday afternoon with Team Worlds Margaretha Sigfridsson of Sweden playing Team North Americas Jones, and Team Worlds Eve Muirhead of Scotland taking on Team North Americas Erika Brown of Oakville, Ont./Madison, Wisc. In mens skins, Team Worlds Edin plays Team North Americas Shuster, and Team North Americas Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., takes on Team Worlds Ulsrud. The mixed skins features a Team North America squad skipped by Rachel Homan, playing Team Worlds Brewster. The evening skins matchup features Team North Americas Stoughton against Team Worlds David Murdoch. Each skins game is worth five points in the overall standings. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

The Pacers, who shot
METAIRIE, La. Clay Harbor Jersey . -- Saints coach Sean Payton says newly acquired safety JairusByrd has undergone surgery to address a nagging problem with a disc in his back and is expected to be fully recovered by the start of training camp. The procedure is preventing Byrd from participating in voluntary off-season practices, which were opened to media for the first time on Thursday. Payton says the procedure wasnt necessary and that Byrd could have played with his condition, but that the club and player both agreed that taking care of it now "would prevent any issues in the fall." Byrd, signed as a free agent this off-season, has gone to three Pro Bowls in his five NFL seasons, all with Buffalo. He has 22 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and three sacks in his career. Josh Scobee Jersey . Ramirez signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on Sunday and will be a player-coach at Triple-A Iowa after he gets some at-bats in extended spring training at the teams facility in Mesa, Arizona. The 41-year-old Ramirez is a . Allen Hurns Jersey . -- The Erie Otters won their eighth straight game with a four-goal outburst in the third en route to an 8-4 win over the Sarnia Sting in Ontario Hockey League play Saturday. CLEVELAND -- Sitting in the last chair on Indianas bench, DavidWest stared straight ahead, unable to look at the court. As the final seconds ticked off the clock on another disheartening loss, West seemed dazed. The Pacers promising season is unraveling DionWaiters scored 19 points, LuolDeng added 15 and the Cleveland Cavaliers kept their playoff push going with a 90-76 win Sunday over the skidding Pacers, who are losing their grip on the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. TristanThompson had 16 rebounds as the Cavs snapped a nine-game losing streak against Indiana. Cleveland came in three games behind slumping, idle Atlanta for the conferences final playoff spot. With seven games left -- six against teams with losing records -- the Cavs still have a chance. The Pacers, meanwhile, are falling apart. They lost their fifth straight road game and now lead Miami by one game for the Easts top record and home-court advantage throughout the post-season. Since beating the Heat at home last week, Indiana has lost to Washington and Cleveland. "Were losing games at an alarming rate to teams that are inferior to us," said West, who picked up a technical four in the fourth quarter. "We cant figure out a way to perform better. Weve done what you do. Weve had team meetings. Weve had players-only meetings. Weve had players and the coaches (meetings). Were kind of looking for answers right now, and things dont get any easier." PaulGeorge scored 15 and West 14 for Indiana, which fell behind by 21 in the fourth quarter. Once thought to be a lock to make the conference finals, the Pacers are in disarray as they enter the final weeks of the regular season. "Were lost right now," guard LanceStephenson said. "We just have to play through it." Indianas offence lacks rhythm, and other than their win over the Heat, the Pacers arent showing the same intensity or energy that has made them one of the NBAs top teams. "Were all frustrated," coach Frank Vogel said. "I think were playing against ourselves. Its a level of play that were trying to reach that were not close to where we need to be." The Pacers trailed the Cavs by 13 at halftime, and after pulling within six in the third, Indiana let the Cavs goo on a 14-5 run, capped by JarrettJacks 3-pointer that made it 69-54. Josh Evans Jersey. . Indiana never got close enough to threaten the Cavs in the fourth, and Vogel pulled West and his other starters for the final 1:20 -- a surprising sign of surrender. Midway through the quarter, West was assessed the technical and a flagrant-1 after a mix-up with spunky Cavs rookie guard Matthew Dellavedova and Cleveland centre SpencerHawes. Theres still time to get things fixed, but the Pacers have lost nine of 15 since March 4 and it wont get any easier with San Antonio coming in for a visit on Monday. The Spurs have won 17 straight. "Weve got to get to playing better," West said. "Weve got eight games left. Its going to get real. We dont want to be disappointed in April and May. Weve got to figure something out. Everybody, individually, all of us have to look at ourselves and figure out what we can do to right this ship." The Cavs, on the other hand, are peaking at the right time. They won for the fourth time in five games despite playing without All-Star point guard KyrieIrving, who missed his eighth straight with an injured biceps. Irving could be back this week, when the Cavs, who are 14-12 since Feb. 5, are at Orlando before a showdown on Friday against the Hawks, who have lost six in a row. "Our guys just keep fighting," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. Cleveland played the second half without centre AndersonVarejao, who strained his right shoulder. The Cavs said their leading rebounder will be re-evaluated Monday. The Pacers, who shot just 37 per cent, lacked any offensive cohesion and left Cleveland searching for answers. "A lot of our guys are out of rhythm right now," Vogel said. "Weve got to figure it out." NOTES: The Pacers have scored less than 80 points in four of their past five games. ... Irving was scheduled to be re-evaluated Sunday by team physician Dr. Richard Parker. Its not yet known when, or if, Irving will play again. ... Clevelands schedule couldnt be better over the next seven games for its playoff drive. The Cavs will play just one team -- Brooklyn -- with a winning record and thats in the season finale. ... George is shooting just 31 per cent (40 of 130) in his last eight games. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

SOCHI, Russia -- MartinSt. Nolan Ryan Angels Jersey .Louis is going to get a chance to represent his country at the Winter Olympics after all. Hockey Canada announced today that the 38-year-old Tampa Bay forward will replace injured Lightning teammate StevenStamkos on Canadas mens hockey team at the Sochi Olympics. "I heard from Stammer that he wasnt going to go, so I knew it was a possibility," St. Louis told reporters in Tampa on Thursday. "So I guess I was prepared for it." St. Louis said he felt bad for Stamkos, who tried hard to come back from a broken right tibia he suffered in a Nov. 11 NHL game before being ruled out of Olympic competition by the Lightnings medical staff on Wednesday. "I think weve got to understand how hard hes tried and worked to put himself in the position hes in and give himself a chance," St. Louis said. "Obviously hes disappointed and Im disappointed for him. Stammers a true professional and hes done everything he can this past month to get back to the lightning first and hopefully to Team Canada." St. Louis was considered one of Canadas most surprising snubs when Canadas team was first announced, along with Philadelphia forward ClaudeGiroux and Pittsburgh forward JamesNeal. The Laval, Que., native led the league in points in the 2012-13 shortened season with 17 goals and 43 assists in 48 games. He is having another strong campaign in 2013-14 with 54 points (25 goals, 29 assists) in 56 games, good for 11th in the league. "I dont see this as Marty replacing me, I see it as Marty deserving a spot on this team and going over and hopefully bringing back a gold medal," said Stamkos in the same news conference. St. Louis has won two World Championship silver medals for Canada over his career. He played in the 2006 Turin Olympics, scoring two goals and an assist in Canadas disappointing seventh-place finish. St. Louis went on a 10-game point streak (eight goals, six assists) for the Lightning after first being left off Canadas team, announced on Jan. 7. He said the snub had nothing to do with his increased production, but his play of late might have given him the edge over Giroux and Neal. "I dont think its motivation. Ive been motivated the past four years ... the past 10 years. If youre not motivated, youre not even considered for these things. His speed could be a benefit to Canada, which has struggled in the Olympics when playing on the larger international ice surface. Canada won gold in Salt Lake City in 2002 and in Vancouver in 2010 playing in NHL-style arenas, but was left off the podium in Nagano, Japan in 1998 and Turin, Italy in 2006. "Obviously its a bigger ice surface. It think my quickness, my speed ... thats what Im going to rely on," St. Louis said. "Its a different game, but I think whatever game plan we come up with, its going to be well thought-out." Stamkos is confident that his teammate can fill any position on Team Canada. "Hes going to go over there and play whatever role possible. I personally think hes going to play a big role," said Stamkos. "The character that he has, the way hes played in big-game situations in the past. I mean, hes won individual awards, hes won the team championships, hes been in those situations. "Its not like its a young guy thats never been in these situations before filling in for someone. This is a guy who can step in and play any role asked."Albert Pujols Angels Jersey . -- Last month, RichieIncognito said severe repercussions would be warranted if the Miami Dolphins kept allowing sacks at such an alarming rate. David Freese Authentic Jersey .J. -- The New York Giants are not only back in the playoff hunt with a four-game winning streak, theyre calling the plays that get them those wins.SURPRISE, Ariz. - Texas Rangers catcher GeovanySoto had arthroscopic surgery Saturday to remove a small bone from his left foot. Soto had the surgery a day after returning to Texas to be examined by a specialist for what the team had called an Achilles issue. Doctors discovered a bone putting pressure on a flexor tendon. The Rangers said the procedure went well and that the expectation is their starting catcher should be ready for the start of the regular season. "He should be full-go in approximately three weeks. That was part of the reason he had the procedure now," assistant general manager Thad Levine said. "His other choice was to effectively try to get through the season with a series of injections." Soto is expected to be back at spring training camp by Monday. He will be in a walking boot for about 10 days before resuming baseball activities. In the off-season, Texas also signed J.P.Arencibia, whom manager Ron Washington said will get the bulk of time in drills while Soto is out. Levine said the bone removed from Sotos foot is a bone that not every person has, and that the tendon being pressed "t;effectively controls the use of your toes. Kevin Jepsen Jersey. " If Soto is fully back to speed in three weeks, he would still then have two more weeks before the season opener March 31 at home against Philadelphia. Soto, the NL Rookie of the Year in 2008 for the Chicago Cubs, was mainly a backup in Texas last season to A.J.Pierzynski, who left in free agency. Soto was the first of 168 major league free agents during the off-season to agree to a big league contract, with a $3.05 million deal in November. Soto was the primary catcher for Rangers ace YuDarvish the second half of the season. Soto hit .245 with nine homers and 22 RBIs in 54 games last season. Arencibia spent the first 3 1/2 seasons of his career with Toronto. He hit .194 with 21 homers and 55 RBIs in 138 games last season. Notes: LHP DerekHolland is off crutches and starting to walk on a treadmill, but remains in Texas doing rehab after microfracture surgery on the left knee that he injured when he was tripped by his dog on the stairs at his home this winter. ... DUNEDIN, Florida The Blue Jays fell to 4-4 in Grapefruit League play following a 6-4 loss to the Pirates on Wednesday afternoon. Russell Wilson Authentic Jersey . BrandonMorrow allowed five runs on six hits over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and hit a batter. EdwinEncarnacion had a two-out, bases loaded two-RBI double in the third inning. Here are some tidbits from camp: SANTOS DEALING WITH UNCERTAIN FUTURE Its an oft-repeated clich but SergioSantos really is approaching life one day at a time. Almost traded during the offseason - according to reports he was nearly moved twice - he continues to hear his name in the rumour mill. "Its just been different or kind of out of the norm," said Santos. "I try to keep as level-minded of an outlook as I can. I try not to look too far ahead or try to think about things that I cant control." Santos almost became a Texas Ranger in late November but a three-team deal fell through. He went so far as to travel to Arlington to undergo a physical and to meet with Rangers officials. Hes not hung up on it. "Luckily I had some time to kind of let that sink in and its gone and Im done thinking about it," said Santos. Santos missed almost four months of last season due to surgery to remove bone spurs from his pitching elbow. In 24 appearances from his August 1 return onward, Santos posted a 1.69 ERA and a miniscule 0.516 WHIP over 21 1/3 innings. He limited opposing batters to a .327 OPS. Put simply, he was dominant. In the final guaranteed year of his deal and with year over year club options through 2017 ($6 million in 2015, $8 million in 2016, $8.75 million in 2017), hes a prime candidate to be moved because the bullpen is considered a position of strength and others, like SteveDelabar, have years of club control remaining. "I think there are two sides that you can look at it, as other teams really want you or you can dwell on the fact that the team youre on is trying to trade you," said Santos. "At the end of the day Alex and everybody with the Blue Jays is trying to make the Blue Jays as good of a team as they can in 2014. "Whether Im in those plans or not, like I said thats not in my control. Would I like to be? Of course." JANSSEN PROGRESSING Closer CaseyJanssen, dealing with stiffness in the back of his pitching shoulder, played catch on Monday and woke up feeling good on Tuesday. Hes hoping to throw a bullpen session soon, although there isnt a schedule yet. "Just with yesterday, see how it is today and then I think we can start preparing a plan but weve got to crawl before we can walk here," said Janssen. "Well get there. Im not worried about the bullpens and stuff like that. All I really care about is feeling healthy and if Im healthy it comes back quick." Janssen was limited in Grapefruit League play last season as he recovered from shoulder surgery. He pitched successfully through pain for much of the year, notching a career high 34 saves, a 2.56 ERA and a 0.987 WHIP. NAVARRO, IZTURIS CONCERNED FOR FAMILY BACK HOME Former Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez died last March 5. On the one-year anniversary of his passing and with political unrest on the rise in their homeland, Blue Jays DionerNavarro and MaicerIzturis spend a lot of time worrying about family. "Its so frustrating," said Navarro. "Thank God theyre doing all good. Theyve been through so much and its just sad and frustrating at the same time. I know if we keep on praying and staying strong, eventually things have to change." Navarro grew up a block away from the presidential residence in Caracas, known as Casa Blanca (White House). His parents, Frank and Rosa, and his youngest brother Darrel still live in the home. With a family of his own and business interests in the Tampa area, Navarro hasnt returned to Venezuela since 2009. He flies his family to the United States as often as possible. Izturis hails from Barquisimeto, about a four-hour drive from the capital, Caracas. His wife and children are with him and his brother, former Blue Jay Cesar, is in Kissimmee attending the Astros camp, but the rest of his family remains in the midst of the protests, which have fanned out across Venezuela. Its a chore just to get groceries. "You can go but they drive very quick," said Izturis. "You go to the supermarket and try to find out what you need. You need to go quick, boom, boom, and thats no life, you know?" Both players believe political change is coming to Venezuela. Theyre hoping it comes at limited cost. "Its such a beautiful country," said Navarro. "Weve got so much to offer to not only ourselves but to the world. We keep on praying God is going to do something really good for us." CAMP CUTS The Blue Jays trimmed their major league roster by three, to 55, by reassigning catchers Derrick Chung and Jack Murphy and pitcher LuisPerez to minor league camp. Perez, who underwent Tommy John elbow surgery in August, 2012, suffered a setback in his recovery late last season and has experienced numbness in the pinky finger of his pitching hand this spring. Perez is out of options but is a certainty to begin the season on the disabled list. Hell continue his rehabilitation in minor league camp, which opened on Wednesday. Yu Darvish Texas Rangers Jersey . The 25-year-old Japanese star has officially been posted by his club team, the Rakuten Golden Eagles. Mithch Moreland Jersey . Stairs, who holds the major-league record with 23 pinch-hit home runs, was a disappointment for the Nationals. The 43-year-old batted just .154 with two RBIs in 56 games. He was 6 for 39 as a pinch hitter.TORONTO The debate over chemistry, whether it exists in baseball and, if so, to what degree it matters, will likely never be completely settled. The question gets asked often these days, whether these Blue Jays get along better this year than they did in 2013. The assumption seems to be that they do because theyre winning more than theyre losing. J.A.Happ, who along with MarkBuehrle are the only two current Jays to take part in an on-field world championship celebration, summed it up. You just feed off each other, he said. The musics better. The jokes are better. Everythings better when youre winning. Thats kind of the way it goes. People start getting louder. You feed off that. You feed off peoples personalities. Its a chicken and egg deal. Winning is the egg, which begets the chicken that is chemistry. More to the point, manager John Gibbons has settled into a number of roster combinations that are producing results. Helping him in this endeavour is a cadre of players who began the season at Triple-A Buffalo. Weve got a handful of them, said manager John Gibbons. We brought [Steve] Tolleson up to be the second baseman against left-handers. Hes doing a great job with that. Of course Gose and Pillar, filling in for Colby, have been a pretty good combo there. Kratzys been up and down a couple of times, but hes fit in. Theyre all contributing. JuanFrancisco, signed off the scrap heap when the Milwaukee Brewers decided late in spring they didnt want to pay him despite an 18-home run season last year, is hitting .280/.370/.602 (.973 OPS) with eight home runs. AnthonyGose entered Mondays action with a slash line of .296/.457/.407. Three of his eight hits are doubles. Hes walked seven times against eight strikeouts, a small sample size, but a great ratio nonetheless. Gose has two stolen bases, but anyone whos watched him play knows hes created runs with his speed and prevented runs with his defence. After a slow start, KevinPillar looks up and sees a .304 batting average. ErikKratz has three home runs in just 45 at-bats. Tolleson, in a small sample size, is hitting better than .300 and has posted a .946 OPS. Gibbons has also established batteries for all three of his catchers. Kratz has become J.A.Happs personal catcher. JoshThole serves the same role for R.A.Dickey. DionerNavarro is behind the plate for every MarkBuehrle start. Hes able to give Navarro a little bit of a breather, said Gibbons of Kratz. Against left-handed pitchinng you can DH (Navarro). Luis Sardinas Authentic Jersey. Thats where we feel were strongest. Against right-handed starting pitching, Francisco plays third base and Lawrie second base. Lawrie heads over to third base, where hes most comfortable, when the opposition starts a left-hander. Tolleson plays second. The Jays have a fearsome late-game bench when the opponent starts a lefty. AdamLind and Francisco are lingering, waiting for their names to be called. As the game goes on, the only place youre vulnerable, you get to a certain point of the game theyre always going to have that lefty ready, said Gibbons. Teams that have enough lefties (in the bullpen), youre waiting on Lind or Francisco. But I think it makes us stronger. The bullpen has settled down since the return of CaseyJanssen, whos converted all seven save opportunities since his return from a strained oblique muscle. Gibbons is most pleased with the progress hes seeing from the rotation. It all revolves around starting pitching, you know, said Gibbons. If starting pitchings good, youve got a chance. If its not, its tough. I dont care what kind of offence youve got, what kind of defence youve got - thats the key to any team in baseball. Check the May ERA of the four rotation mainstays to see the improvement. DrewHutchison (including Monday night): 5 starts, 3.94MarkBuehrle: 2.16R.A.Dickey: 2.73J.A.Happ: 3.20 RASMUS PROGRESSING On the disabled list since May 13 with tightness in his right hamstring, ColbyRasmus is sprinting his way toward a rehab assignment. He was out there running and shagging during early BP, said Gibbons. Well see in the next few days what happens. Rasmus sprinted the infield cutout on Saturday and the warning track on Sunday. While hes eligible to return from the disabled list on Wednesday, Rasmus will be sent out on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment before rejoining the Blue Jays. SANTOS PLAYING CATCH SergioSantos played catch for the third-straight day on Monday afternoon. Hes recovering from a strained right forearm. He feels pretty good, said Gibbons. No soreness at all. So like Colby, we dont know how long its going to be for him. Hes got to build up a little bit, of course. Santos can be activated off the disabled list at any time - hes been out since May 10 - but hell throw at least two bullpen sessions before heading out on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment. Theres no timetable for Santoss return to the Blue Jays. wholesale jerseyscheap jerseys ' ' ' |

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. Reggie Jackson Jersey . -- Lindsey Vonn eased into her first day of downhill training, holding back on her opening run just so she could get accustomed to cruising at that rate of speed again. By her fifth and final pass at the U.S. Ski Teams speed centre on Wednesday, Vonn was charging so hard through the two-mile course that she bent over in exhaustion soon after finishing, trying to catch her breath. More and more, the four-time overall World Cup champion is feeling like her old self again as her surgically repaired right knee gets stronger. The knee felt "really good," Vonn said as she scrambled for the warmth of the lodge following the bitterly cold workout session. "Everything is good," said Vonn, whos preparing to defend her downhill title at the Sochi Olympic in three months. "I feel fresh and training hard. Everything is perfect." The 29-year-old Vonn shredded her anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in a crash at the world championships in Schladming last February, but has progressed much faster than anticipated. She even thought about competing at the season-opening race in Soelden, Austria, on Oct. 26, only to skip it to give her knee more time to recover. Asked if there were any regrets about sitting out that competition, Vonn said: "I was definitely disappointed. Its hard to say no for me. But I felt like I needed more time." These days, all of her decisions are based on one thing: Being in the starting gate at full strength for Sochi. Vonn will make her return to the World Cup circuit in Beaver Creek later this month, with boyfriend and pro golfer Tiger Woods possibly even showing up to cheer her on. "Well see," Vonn said, laughing. For the next few weeks, Vonn will be working on her speed events. She feels like she has her super-G dialed in and now turns her full attention toward the downhill. "My skiing in general is really, really good right now, especially in super-G," said Vonn, who captured an Olympic bronze medal in the super-G in Vancouver four years ago to go with her downhill title. "I just need to get a couple of more miles on the downhill." On her first run Wednesday, Vonn was caught off guard by how much velocity she was picking up on the hill, saying it took her a moment to adjust. She quickly got the hang of it, though, cruising through the course at about 75 per cent of her typical race speed. Vonn treated the morning workout almost like she would a training session at a World Cup stop. Run after run, she pulled a journal out of her bag and jotted down notes about her equipment. Once finished, she slipped into a different set of skis and headed back up the lift for another pass. "I just felt good ... for my first day of downhill," said Vonn, who lives in nearby Vail. "Yeah, it was good." The goal now? "Get faster," she said. "I need more miles." Mike Trout Angels Jersey . PAUL, Minn. Josh Hamilton Authentic Jersey . -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver PercyHarvin will have minor shoulder surgery soon to address a nagging injury he played with last season. You Cant Buy Class. Arsenal Forever. So reads a banner hanging from the stands at The Emirates. Although meant to be a subtle message to opponents about the professional manner in which Arsenal conducts itself, the words can be turned into a negative as a way of describing Arsene Wengers timid, and rather unproductive, approach to the transfer market in recent years. Following the sensational signing of Mesut Ozil on Monday, Arsenal ensured that banners message can no longer be misconstrued again. The word class can often be a confusing one in this sport, with the receiver of the word far too often left confused by its actual meaning from the one who delivered it. "Oh he is such a class player," is a phrase often muttered by pundits, but this really tells us nothing about how good the player they are describing really is. Does this mean he is better than most? As good as he should be? League average? When identifying a class system in soccer it is important to clarify what one actually means by such a description. Far too often in any sport, average (at best) players are called good and good players are described as great. This is why I close my eyes, grit my teeth and almost fall off my chair every time I hear a footballer described as world class. And, by the way, it happens every week. In the last week alone I have heard Paul Pogba, Yohan Cabaye, Danny Welbeck and even Maxi Urruti described as world class footballers. Of course people are entitled to their own opinion and we do not all judge talent the same, but for me there is nothing beyond world class standard for a footballer. It is the pantheon of great present day footballers, a group of players who have performed at the highest level on the biggest of stages, players who will be remembered when their careers are over as being some of the finest players to play the game. In this fantastic sport there are many average players, even more good players, some very good players and then there are great players, the world class players who would be picked by managers all over the world if they were asked to pick a World XI today. Of course there are examples of players moving up and down such class systems by virtue of form and injuries. Brazilian Kaka was once, without doubt, a world class star but hasnt been at that level for close to five years now. Wayne Rooney is another one who eighteen months ago would have been considered to be world class but, for me, is not there at the moment. However, unlike Kaka, he could one day be back to that level. It can, of course, work the other way as well. Gareth Bale, who this week went to Real Madrid for a world record fee, has only reached world class status in the last year despite many pinning this on to him the moment he dribbbled past Maicon a few times in Milan back in October 2010. Rod Carew Angels Jersey. When Bale departed the shores of the United Kingdom late on Sunday evening many described it as a blow to the Premier League to lose a legitimate top star to La Liga. Little did they know, less than 24 hours later, the league would bolster its star appeal with Arsenals signing of Ozil. Ozil arrives in North London for a reported fee that is less than half the amount Tottenham received for Bale, but the German is certainly not half the player the Welshman is. Transfers in 2013 are no longer given the time needed to be allowed to be assessed. Social media has created a giant ocean full of tweeters jumping in head first on the deal, with many today sinking to the bottom with shambolic, nave comments on Ozils value and whether or not Arsenal actually need him. I usually prefer to give a player some time to get adjusted to their new surroundings, watch him closely in different scenarios to see how he adapts ,but in the case of Ozil to Arsenal none of that is necessary. Ozil is a world class player whose signature captured by Arsenal is enough to make Gunners think they are dreaming. They have found a true difference-maker, a star that plays at such a high level he instantly takes Arsenal fans back to the days of watching The Invincibles. Footballing intelligence, a phrase underused in the game because it cannot be graded by watching highlights or reading statistics, is what makes Ozil so special. Rarely does he misplace a pass and if he does its because he was thinking quicker than the man expected to receive the ball. He thrives being the teams central creator, where he will be able to showcase his outstanding vision in the final third and, perhaps more importantly, on counter attacks which will most certainly often go through him. The Gunners won Sundays North London derby because they were simply better in the transition game and already this season the majority of their goals have come from plays that have started deep in their own half. Ozils lateral movement will confuse many a Premier League defender and team-mates like Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott will all benefit from playing close to him each week. For the first time in a long time this is not a lets wait and see how good he is kind of signing for Arsenal fans. Ozil will be sensational for their team. Five years ago on the clubs official website, the top 50 Arsenal players of all time were revealed following votes by thousands of their fans. The truth is no current Arsenal player in the past five years has done enough to threaten a spot in that list. If they keep hold of Ozil for more than a year they wont just need to re-do the Top 50, they will need to change the Top 10. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ORCHARD PARK, N. Salvador Perez Royals Jersey .Y. -- Bills general manager Doug Whaley is more eager to see JairusByrd make his season debut this weekend, than to try to project the two-time Pro Bowl safetys future in Buffalo. Whaley told The Associated Press on Thursday that while he is not actively shopping Byrd, the Bills would listen to offers if another team called. "Our focus right now is Jairus getting on the field and playing the best he can for the Buffalo Bills," Whaley said. "We are not actively on the phone hammering out trying to look for a trade. By the same token, (team president) Russ Brandon would listen if someone wanted to trade. "So if the phone rings, were going to listen. But that doesnt mean were out trying to trade." Whaley stressed the same rule applies to any player on the roster with the NFL trading deadline approaching Oct. 29. As for Byrds future, Whaley didnt entirely rule out the possibility of the Bills re-signing the fifth-year player once his one-year franchise tag expires after this season. "Absolutely, I mean theres always a possibility," Whaley said. "Its one of those things where you can never say never. Will he be on the team? We hope so. Were not sure, but were going to do everything thats best for the Buffalo Bills in the future." The immediate future for Whaley is Byrd preparing to make his long-awaited season debut on Sunday, when the Bills (2-3) host the Cincinnati Bengals (3-2). Byrd is set to play after he missed the entire off-season because of a contract dispute, and the first five games of the season because of plantar fasciitis in both feet. "Were very much excited for him to get back out there," Whaley said. "Its going to help our defence. Its going to help our offence. Its going to help our team." Byrd has the potential to be a significant difference maker, which is a reason the Bills made a one-year $6.9 million franchise-tag tender in March to prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent. Though the move allowed the Bills to retain Byrds rights, it led to a stalemate in contact negotiations during which the two sides were unable to reach a long-term deal before a July 15 deadline. Byrd didnt report to the team until he finally accepted the one-year contract Aug. 21. That didnt mean he was ready to play. Byrd has spent the past seven weeks being treated for the foot condition that had nagged him since last season. Whaley said the team has been impressed with how Byrd has handled himself throughout his rehabilitation, which has included the player spending extra time on the field following practice. On another topic, Whaley was encouraged by the progress rookie quarterback EJManuel showed in his first five starts before being sideline indefinitely by a sprained right knee in a 37-24 loss to Cleveland last week. "Obviously, you want him to go out there and take the live reps, but hes doing a good job," Manuel said. "Are we discouraged? More for the kid, because he was growing and learning." The first-round pick out of Florida State was off to inconsistent start before being injured. He completed 85 of 150 attempts for 985 yards passing with five touchdowns and three interceptions. "In any rookie quarterback, youre going to have some bumps in the road," Whaley said. Manuel will continue developing from a mental perspective by travelling with the team and watching games from the coaches box. "Yes, we do think theres time and a combination of learning that can go on off the field," Whaley said, "and off the field that we think will benefit this guy down the road."Justin Maxwell Royals Jersey . -- An accomplished veteran in open-wheel racing, Alex Tagliani probably could find a full-time ride in the IndyCar series if he wanted it badly enough. The 29-year-old Bailey was 3-1 with a 3.77 ERA and eight saves in 13 chances for the World Series champions, making 30 appearances before season-ending shoulder surgery on July 24. He was limited to 19 games in 2012, the first season after the Red Sox acquired him from Oakland. Bailey made $4.1 million, and by letting him go free the Red Sox could sign him without the 20 per cent maximum cut rule applying. Mike Moustakas Authentic Jersey. The 25-year-old Kalish missed the entire season due to a right shoulder operation in January and cervical fusion surgery in August. He hit .243 with four homers, 29 RBIs and 13 steals for the Red Sox in 2010 and 2012. GAINESVILLE, Fla. Nolan Ryan Jersey . -- Florida basketball coach Billy Donovan hadnt planned on having centre Patric Young for its game against Auburn because of a flareup of the tendinitis in the his knees. However, when pregame warmups were finished, Young told his coach he could play. That decision turned out to be crucial in saving the Gators school-record 18-game winning streak. Young hit a pair of free throws with 19 seconds remaining to break a tie and added another after Auburn committed a crucial turnover to seal second-ranked Floridas 71-66 victory at the OConnell Center. "Ive been practicing situations, like the opportunity to go to the Final Four with free throws as the game-winner," Young said about clutch late-game performance. "I was just telling myself, Be great. Strive to be great right now. "Ive been working on my free throws and I just went up there and swished them like it was nothing," he said. It wasnt the Gators best effort but it may be good enough to put them atop The Associated Press college basketball poll for the first time since the 2006-07 season after No. 1 Syracuses overtime loss to Boston College on Wednesday night. Provided, of course, the Gators beat host Ole Miss (16-10, 7-6) on Saturday. "One of the things I talk to our guys about is that with our rankings and being undefeated in the league we get everyones best shot," Donovan said. "But I like to look at it the other way. Are we going to give our best shot? I dont think that we did that today." Young never mentioned he had chronic tendinitis in his knees. Donovan revealed that Young was hurting in his postgame news conference. "He didnt warm up and he told me before the game that he could play," Donovan said. "His knees are ailing. I thought he was phenomenal in the second half. He played great. Where hell be at tomorrow well probably have a better idea but him playing or how much we could play him today was in doubt." Young didnt played well in the first half, missing his only shot from the field and grabbing just one rebound in 14 minutes. He wasnt the only one playing sluggishly, though. The Gators (24-2, 13-0 SEC) trailed 38-30 at the break, which the was the teams largest halftime deficit of the season. "We definitely came out a little flat," said senior forward Casey Prather, who scored 16 points and had nine rebounds. "We werent doing the things that we needed to do and should have done to win the game. Im just glad we had a chance in the second half to continue to play basketball." Young certainly responded in the second half. He scored all 17 of his points and grabbed six of his seven rebounds in the final 20 minutes. He hit five of his six shots in the second half and the 17 points tied a season high. Florida had taken a 66-65 lead on Michael Fraziers 3-pointer with 40.5 seconds to play, but the Tigers tied it on a free throw by Chris Denson with 20 seconds remaining. Young grabbed the rebound on the missed foul shot and was immediately fouled. Young, a 55.9 per cent career free throw shooter, hit the two free throws to give the Gators the lead for good and ensure theyd extend their home winning streak to 31 consecutive games. Auburn (12-12, 4-9) nearly pulled off the upset because of its 3-point shooting. The Tigers made 10 of 19 3-point shots. Tahj Shamsid-Deen led the Tigers with 17 points and made 5 of 8 3-point shots. Auburn, though, made a costly mistake in the final seconds. After Youngs free throws put the Gators up 68-66, Allen Paynes inbounds pass to K.T. Harrell bounced out of bounds. Harrell had glanced up-court and never saw the ball and it ricocheted off his arm and into the Florida bench. Josh Hamilton Authentic Jersey . A year ago, as newly appointed general manager Masai Ujiri bided his time and sat out of a lacklustre 2013 draft, this scenario seemed highly improbable. The Raptors, like every other team in the association, had at least one eye on this years rookie crop, one of the most highly touted and eagerly anticipated ever to enter the league. Nolan Ryan Angels Jersey . Louis Blues remain at the top spot of the TSN.DAYTON, Ohio -- Given a second chance, T.J. Warren put on a show in the NCAA tournament. The hard-to-guard sophomore forward scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half on Tuesday night, showing why he was the ACCs player of the year, and North Carolina State led most of the way in a 74-59 victory over Xavier in the NCAA tournaments First Four. N.C. State (22-12) didnt have much time to celebrate. The 12th-seeded Wolfpack headed to Orlando, Fla., for a game on Thursday against St. Louis in the Midwest Regional. Warren had the most to do with it. He made up for a freshman tournament flop on the same floor a year earlier and prevented Xavier (21-14) from getting any traction in the second half. "Hes just a great player," coach Mark Gottfried said. "Its hard to keep him down for a whole 40 minutes." Centre Matt Stainbrook led Xavier with 19 points and nine rebounds despite an injured left knee. Leading scorer Semaj Christon was limited to 14 points, and Xavier made only 2 of 14 shots from beyond the arc. Xavier was playing in a familiar arena less than an hour from campus. Familiar, but not entirely friendly. Fans of the Dayton Flyers -- a long-time rival -- booed loudly as they took the court, making for a mixed welcome with a lot of Musketeer fans in the stands as well. Warren made it all a moot point, helping N.C. State take all the drama out of the game over the final 11 minutes. Ralston Turner added 17 points. The Wolfpack went six years between NCAA appearances before Gottfried got them there three years in a row. This was his youngest and least-experienced team: Only two players with tournament experience. They got one of the final at-large bids with a strong closing run, winning ffive of their last six games, including an upset of Syracuse in the ACC tournament. David Freese Authentic Jersey. . Warren was the key. And he really wanted a second chance at the NCAA tournament. As a freshman last year, he managed only four points as N.C. State lost to Temple 76-72 at the University of Dayton Arena in its opening game. Hes grown a lot in one year, leading the ACC with 24.8 points per game this season and hitting the 40-point mark twice. He got off to a bad start on Tuesday, missing his first two shots and picking up two fouls in the first 4 minutes, 14 seconds. Warren checked back into the game and hit a jumper for his first points at the 11:29 mark. Christon, who was Warrens roommate at Brewster Academy for one year, kept the Musketeers in it during the first half. He scored off two drives to the basket, starting an 8-1 run. Stainbrooks reverse layup trimmed it to 27-26 with 2:22 left. Jordan Vandenbergs three-point play gave N.C. State a 34-28 advantage at halftime. Dee Davis hit Xaviers first 3-pointer, and Christon scored on a fast-break lay-in that cut it to 39-37. Thats when Warren took over. He had a pair of pull-up jumpers, followed by a steal and a lay-up as N.C. State rebuilt the lead to 51-42. He had another pull-up jumper and a fast-break dunk that made it 57-47 with 7:56 to go. Xavier never got closer than seven points the rest of the way, fading down the stretch. The biggest question for Xavier was how Stainbrooks left knee would hold up. The Big Easts second-leading rebounder sprained a ligament, sat out the final regular season game and was extremely limited in two Big East conference games. He was back in form, but Xavier didnt have enough other scoring options to keep up. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

(SportsNetwork. Blake Bortles Jersey .com) - The Miami Heat will try to close out the Charlotte Bobcats Monday night in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first round series. The Heat will look for the sweep and the Bobcats will go for their first-ever playoff victory. This is Charlottes second postseason appearance in the franchises history and the Bobcats were swept in four games by the Orlando Magic in 2010. In Saturdays Game 3, LeBronJames showed why hes the games best player. James had 30 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and the Heat rolled to a 98-85 win. He was 10-for-18 from the floor, 9-for-10 on free throws and scored 28 of his 30 points in the first three quarters, including 12 in the third when the Heat stretched their lead to 26. "That greatness, we dont take it for granted," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. "He does it on a nightly basis. Sometimes he makes it look easy. He read the game extremely well -- when to be aggressive, when to turn it up and make plays and try to get into the paint." Before Saturdays Game 3, James showed why hes the games leading voice. James was one of the NBAs only major stars to come down hard on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for the racist comments allegedly caught on tape. "If the reports are true, its unacceptable in our league," James said before the game. "You just cant have that in our league." DwyaneWade chipped in 17 points and six assists for the second-seeded Heat and ChrisAndersen scored 12 off the bench. ChrisBosh, who hit a 3-pointer to put the stops on a 10-0 Bobcats run late in Game 2 on Wednesday, scored just eight on Saturday. Miami has beaten Charlotte 19 straight times, including the three wins in this series. AlJefferson played again despite suffering a plantar fascia strain in his left foot in Game 1 and led the Bobcats with 20 points -- but scored just five after the first quarter (he and three other Charlotte starters sat out the entire fourth). "They made it tough to be able to get him the ball," said JoshMcRoberts, who scored 13 points two days after he was fined $20,000 for elbowing James in the neck in Game 2. "Theyre the best team in the NBA defensively by a long shot in terms of the athletes they put on the court." Head coach Steve Clifford stated that Jefferson is doubtful to play Game 4 and if Jefferson couldnt go, BismackBiyombo would start in his place ChrisDouglas-Roberts contributed 17 points off the bench for Charlotte, followed by 13 from KembaWalker. The Heat took the lead for good with a 23-7 run late in the second quarter and led by double digits throughout the second half. Charlotte and Miami rested key players over the final 12 minutes and the Bobcats cut the final deficit to 13. If needed, Game 5 will be Wednesday night in South Beach. RoyHibbert scored 22 points and LanceStephenson fell just short of his fourth triple double this season, helping the Pacers hold off Torontos late charge for an 86-79 victory that allowed them to keep the NBAs best record.SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- DavidLee had 23 points and 11 rebounds, KlayThompson scored 18 points and the Golden State Warriors held off the Sacramento Kings 101-92 on Wednesday night in a game both teams played short-handed. StephenCurry added 13 points and eight assists for the Warriors (32-22) in the first game following the All-Star break for each team. Golden State is 3-0 against Sacramento this season. With both centres out with injuries and a shorter roster from trades each team made earlier in the day, the depth of the Warriors was just too much for the Kings to overcome. IsaiahThomas had 26 points and seven assists, and TravisOutlaw scored 18 points for a Sacramento (18-36) team thats headed for an eighth straight losing season. QuincyAcy grabbed a career-high 12 boards to help the Kings outrebound the Warriors 49-35, but Sacramento committed 21 turnovers, fading in the closing minutes. The game was played in the aftermath of a busy day for both Northern California teams. The Kings traded guard MarcusThornton to Brooklyn for veterans JasonTerry and ReggieEvans in the afternoon. Just before tipoff, the Warriors acquired point guard SteveBlake from the Los Angeles Lakers for reserves KentBazemore and MarShonBrooks. AndrewBogut also missed his fifth straight game for the Warriors with a left shoulder injury. DeMarcusCousins, who strained his left hip flexor in Sacramentos final game before the break in New York, also sat out. Both centres are day to day. The Kings dropped to 0-8 without Cousins this season but still led 76-75 entering the fourth quarter. J.T. Thomas Jaguars Jersey. . The Warriors quickly put together a pair of scoring spurts to pull away. Lee converted a layup through traffic, Thompson made a 3-pointer and AndreIguodala hit a fadeway jumper in an 8-0 run that gave Golden State an 86-79 lead early in the fourth. After the Kings started to rally, Iguodala found DraymondGreen for a dunk, and Lee followed with a layup that put the Warriors up 94-84 with 3:28 remaining that all but sealed it. Most of the game played out in similar fashion. The Warriors went ahead by 10 points in the first quarter and 15 in the second, spreading the floor and moving the ball fast without any true centres on the court. The Kings had come back each time, though, playing just like the two-faced team theyd been before the All-Streak break -- prone to scintillating scoring spurts but, at times, lacking defence and discipline -- that buried them at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. Sacramento scored the final nine points of the third quarter, including the last six by Thomas, to take a 76-75 lead before the Warriors pulled away for good. NOTES: The teams meet for the final time this season April 4 in Oakland. ... Recently retired NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez, a former star at California, sat in a courtside seat between Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and team executive Chris Mullin. ... The Warriors are hoping Blake will be in uniform when they host Houston on Thursday night in Oakland. ... ANAHEIM, Calif. Reggie Jackson Authentic Jersey . -- Trent Yawney has been hired as an assistant coach by the Anaheim Ducks. The team announced the move Monday. Yawney was the Chicago Blackhawks head coach during the 2005-06 season. The longtime NHL defenceman later was an assistant coach with the San Jose Sharks. He was the head coach of the Ducks AHL affiliate in Norfolk last season, leading the Admirals to a first-round upset of top-seeded Manchester in the playoffs. Yawney replaces Bob Woods on coach Bruce Boudreaus staff. Woods became head coach and general manager of the WHLs Saskatoon Blades earlier this month. The Ducks also promoted Dave Baseggio to assistant to the general manager and extended the contracts of senior vice-president of hockey operations David McNab and director of player personnel Rick Paterson. The Wolves mostly knew about their dismal history in this matchup, and they came out apparently determined to rewrite it in the first quarter alone. KevinMartin scored 27 points, KevinLove had 18 of his 25 during Minnesotas 47-point opening quarter in a skid-snapping 113-90 victory Sunday night. RickyRubio had 12 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who hadnt beaten the Lakers since March 6, 2007. Minnesota took a 28-point lead with a 27-2 run, reducing the Staples Center crowd to scattered boos during the highest-scoring quarter in the Timberwolves franchise history. The Wolves maintained a healthy advantage all night in their first win over the Lakers at Staples Center since Dec. 2, 2005, ending the longest active streak between two NBA opponents. "We had lost so many straight to the Lakers that we thought we were due for one," said Love, who also had 13 rebounds while hitting four 3-pointers. "We knew, the guys that had played here. We had talked about it, that we hadnt had much success, but we werent thinking about anything numbers-wise. We just wanted to come out and think about this year." Minnesota won with ease -- something thats almost never happened in this matchup. CoreyBrewer scored 17 points and NikolaPekovic had 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Wolves punctuated their 5-2 start to the season by routing sending the Lakers crowd home early. Martin had another monster game in his strong start to the season, improving to 18 for 28 on 3-pointers in the last five games while averaging 27 points. And Rubio supplemented his second career triple-double with five steals, becoming just the second player in franchise history with at least five steals during a triple-double game. "Everybody was making shots," said Rubio, the first opponent to record a triple-double against the Lakers since LeBronJames on Christmas 2010. "We knew wed lost the last 22 or something like that. It was a good game for us to end it." SteveBlake scored 19 points with five 3-pointers, and JodieMeeks added 16 for the Lakers, who have lost five of seven -- and got even more injury concern about one of their stars. SteveNash played 13 minutes before sitting out with a back injury for Los Angeles, which never got closer than 14 points down the sttretch. Albert Pujols Authentic Jersey. Nash, the NBAs oldest player at 39, will be evaluated on Monday by Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed DwightHowards back surgery last year. The Lakers have kept Nash out of the lineup twice already this season to preserve his health, but Nashs back has bothered him for years. "You could call it back, nerves, pain in the hamstring," Nash said. "It all gets a little convoluted, but its all basically the same since last year. ... Im just trying to figure it out, trying to play through it and at the same time be smart. Its tough. I really want to play. To be so limited is frustrating." PauGasol managed just 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who had won 13 straight at home over Minnesota. KobeBryant played in all but one game during the Lakers winning streak in this matchup, but the fourth-leading scorer in NBA history still isnt close to making his season debut after surgery in April. The Wolves sizzled from the start, with Martin and Love humiliating the Lakers defenders with a series of increasingly improbable jumpers and drives. Los Angeles largely failed to defend the perimeter, but Martin and Love also hit shots in tight coverage while making 12 of their 14 first-quarter shots. "We came out soft," Los Angeles coach Mike DAntoni said. "They made some tough shots, but they did score 47 points. And I dont care what kind of shots they made. There just wasnt enough intensity into the defence, and we paid for it." Minnesota led 17-14 before scoring 27 of the next 29 points in a vicious 4:47 span, starting with three consecutive 3-pointers. JJ Bareas layup put the Wolves up 44-16, and they finished the quarter with a 47-23 lead. "Forty-seven points in one quarter ... its outrageous," Gasol said. The Timberwolves cooled off from there, but were too far ahead to be threatened. The Lakers trimmed the lead to 90-76 heading to the fourth quarter after 11 third-quarter points from Blake and nine more from Meeks, but Rubio and Brewer kept the Wolves ahead down the stretch. NOTES: Minnesota stays in the building to face the Clippers on Monday night. The Lakers return Tuesday to host New Orleans after last weeks loss to the Pelicans. ... UCLA product ShabazzMuhammad got no discernible reaction when he entered the game for Minnesota in the fourth quarter. ... XavierHenry had a career-high eight rebounds for the Lakers, but he struggled again with 1-for-8 shooting. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

made it tougher."
Each day, TSN. Nike Roshe Run Sale Uk .ca provides the latest rumours, reports and speculation from around the NHL beat. Read on for the biggest rumours as GMs have one day remaining to make moves prior to the beginning of free agency. Organized Reim The Toronto Maple Leafs may now also be able to add finding a new home for JamesReimer to their list of tasks. The 26-year-old is reportedly seeking a trade after losing the lions share of crease time with the Leafs this season to JonathanBernier. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger stated Monday that the request is not unexpected. "JamesReimers trade request should come as no surprise," he said in a tweet. "He believes hes a #1 and wants a fresh start to prove that." He added that the Leafs do not have a strong offer for Reimer on the table and that he has been told to be ready for training camp in the event a suitable deal can not be found. Toronto does have interest in MartinBrodeur, according to Dreger, but his sense is that the interest is "mild". Toronto is also expected to make another offer to DaveBolland on Monday. Dreger said he does not expect the Leafs to go beyond $25 million over five years, which he believes will not be enough to keep Bolland from the open market. Centre Stage After failing to strike a deal at the NHL Draft, Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray is now inching ever closer to the July 1 free agency opening without a new home for centre JasonSpezza. McKenzie said Monday that while interest remains high in the 31-year-old, there is nothing imminent on the trade front. "[St. Louis] and [Dallas] are the two teams who currently have interest in [Ottawa]s JasonSpezza," he tweeted Monday. "Doesnt sound like a deal is close." Van City ThomasVanek is another popular option for teams seeking a breakout forward. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports that there are eight-to-10 teams interested in the big Austrian winger, including the Minnesota Wild. The Wild are not believed to be interested in a long-term deal, LeBrun says, but that does not appear to be a deterrent for Vanek who is still believed to like Minnesota as a possible landing spot. Bringing up Boyle DanBoyle will likely have no shortage of options once the formal offers start rolling in on Tuesday. Dreger reports that Boyle will have multiple offers to consider come noon et on a new two-year deal. The Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers as well as Toronto and Montreal are believed to be his top five destinations, according to Dreger. Speaking to TSN Radio 1050s MikeRichards on Monday, Dreger said "a return to Tampa Bay would make sense because there is some familiarity between both parties." Welcome Matt Interest remains high in UFA defenceman MattNiskanen, meanwhile. Dreger reports that more than 10 teams have expressed interest in the Pens blueliner. Niskanens camp is believed to be set to trim that number down over the course of Monday to get ready for formal offers on Tuesday. Avalanche of Options PaulStastny is another big name drawing lots of attention. LeBrun tweeted Monday that Stastny andagent Matt Keator will work to cut down their destinations list prior to Tuesday and that the St. Louis Blues are expected to remain in the mix. However, LeBrun added thata return to Colorado is still not off the board. The Avalanche dont appear to have the funds to throw around that other suitors might in their pursuit of the 28-year-old centre. Playing it Kul With free agency looming, NikolaiKulemin may look to join a compatriot once the market opens on Tuesday. Dreger told TSN Radio that the Russian winger could be looking to join former Magnitogorsk teammate EvgeniMalkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins once he officially hits unrestricted free agency. "The Pittsburgh Penguins have expressed interest and with a salary of $3-3.5 million dollars, he will have no shortage of suitors," Dreger said. Curious Gorges The Leafs are still believed to be in pursuit of Montreal Canadiens blueliner JoshGorges, but his modified no-trade clause may be holding things up. TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted the Leafs are still hoping hell waive his NTC. If that would occur, McKenzie stated "its believed Montreal would get a roster player from Toronto" in exchange. However, the blueliner may not waive his clause at all. McKenzie tweeted that the situation is "problematic for all. Montreal had deal with Toronto but Gorges refused to waive his modified NTC to go to Toronto. Still wont." The Gorges situation could get more complicated if he refuses to waive his no-trade. According to McKenzie, Montreal appears to want to shed his cap space. Theyare able totrade him toone of 15 pre-approved teams, but could also put him on waivers failing a trade. Ifput onwaivers, Montreal gets no return but Gorges then loses all control of where he could potentially end up, meaning Gorges might be convinced to take a trade to Toronto instead of being available to any one of the leagues 29 other franchises. Restricted List Monday will see a host of NHL teams extending qualifying offers to their pending restricted free agents, but some players will be cut loose to find new teams via unrestricted free agency. The Anaheim Ducks have not qualified MathieuPerreault, but are believed to have made him a substantial offer. He will hit unrestricted free agency unless he accepts the offer. Other players without offers include the Vancouver Canucks Zac Delpe and JordanSchroeder, the Ottawa Senators JimOBrien, NathanLawson and TylerEckford (per Le Droits Sylvain St-Laurent), Tampa Bay defender KeithAulie (per the Tampa Bay Times Joe Smith),Dallas Stars centre DustinJeffrey (per Stars writer Mark Stepaneski), Rangers defenceman JustinFalk (per ESPNs Katie Strang). David Villa, Diego Costa, Miranda, and the newly arrived Diego scored the goals that put Atletico clear at the top of the standings, having shared the lead with Barcelona for much of the campaign. Atletico holds a three point advantage over Barcelona and Real Madrid after Athletic Bilbao rallied to draw 1-1 against Madrid, which finished without Cristiano Ronaldo after he was red carded. Substitute Ibai Gomezs volley cancelled out Jese Rodriguezs opener for Madrid, which played the final 15 minutes a man down after Ronaldo was sent off for swiping his hand across Carlos Gurpegis face following a shove from his opponent. The contact seemed light, but Gurpegi fell to the ground as if hed been hit hard. Atletico honoured former player and coach Luis Aragones before the match and fed off the emotion at the Vicente Calderon Stadium to boost its attempt to break the Barcelona-Madrid monopoly with a first championship since 1996. Barcelona lost 3-2 to Valencia on Saturday, and Atletico did not waste the opportunity to go top by itself for the first time since that championship-winning season. Not since Valencias league title a decade ago has a club other than the big two won the Spanish league. Diego Costa was lively from the start, and the Brazilian-born Spain striker fed Villa inside the box in the 38th minute to finish off a quick break by scoring the opener. Villa sustained a leg injury moments later and had to be replaced by Raul Garcia. With the home fans chanting Aragones name throughout, Atletico came alive in the second half as Garcia found Diego Costa racing free between defenders in the 72nd and the forward beat goalkeeper Claudio Bravo with a right-footed shot for his 20th league goal of the season. Two minutes later, Miranda headed home a corner kick out of Braavos reach for 3-0 before Diego, who came on in the 58th for his first appearance in his return to the club, marked his return to Atletico by dribbling into the box to unleash a rising shot into goal with three minutes remaining. Nike Air Max 90 Sale Womens. "This is something nice for the players, who have made such effort and go into every single game with the same intensity and work ethic," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said. "Luis would appreciate the teams courage, since he was a courageous type with character, just like this team." Atletico leads with 57 points, while Barcelona and Madrid share 54 points. Jese lunged to guide Ronaldos cross into the area beyond goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz for the 65th-minute opener in a game that was dominated by Bilbao up to that point. Gomez made up for earlier misses by Aritz Aduritz and Ander Herrera when he ran onto a cleared ball outside the area to rip an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Diego Lopez in the 73rd. The intensity boiled over moments later when Ronaldo and Gurpegi tangled, the Ballon dOr winners straight red card means he will miss Madrids next game. "Its difficult when you lose a player without reason," Madrid defender Marcelo said. "Its already difficult to score one point here but Madrid has the obligation of winning every game. So (the red card) made it tougher." Gomez nearly scored the winner in the 85th from another volley but Lopez tipped it over as Bilbao improved to 43 points in fourth. Earlier Sunday, Cristian Herreras second-half goal gave Elche a 1-0 victory against Almeria to lift the club above its relegation adversary, while Ruben Castro scored two goals as last-placed Real Betis beat Espanyol 2-0 to end a four-game losing streak. Elche improved to 24 points, two more than Almeria which is 17th. Valladolid is 18th with 20, Rayo Vallecano has 17 and Betis 14. All games held a minutes silence in honour of Aragones, the former Spain coach who died on Saturday at age 75. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ST. Yordano Ventura Royals Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Texas Rangers took an 8-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in their first road game of the season Friday night, and it was an especially bad night for first baseman PrinceFielder and pitcher JoeSaunders. "It was just one of those days," said Fielder, who had one of the Rangers three errors and a base-running mistake that took Texas out of a possible big inning. "Everyone played hard, we made mistakes here and there. It just didnt go our way. Its nothing that you cant really see. Weve just got to come back tomorrow and fix it." Saunders (0-1) left in the fourth inning with a bruised left ankle after getting hit by EvanLongorias liner. Saunders gave up five runs and six hits, including a three-run home run to SeanRodriguez, in 3 2-3 innings. "I think I was trying to be too fine early in the game," Saunders said. "The pitch to Rodriguez was a decent pitch; he just put a good swing on it. Probably the wrong pitch at the wrong time." Rodriguez tied a career-high with four RBIs and JakeOdorizzi got his first major league win for the Rays (3-2). Rodriguez was back in the lineup after missing Thursday nights 7-2 win over Toronto for the birth of his son. Odorizzi (1-0) allowed three hits in six innings in his seventh big league start and 10th game overall. RyanHanigan hit a three-run homer during the fifth for the Rays. Fielder got his first RBI since Sept. 22, a drought of 20 regular and post-season games, with a run-scoring single in the eighth. But the Rangers (2-2) wasted a great scoring opportunity in the fourth, when they were down 4-0. With runners on first and second and one out, MitchMoreland singled into the right-field corner, but Fielder got tagged out in a rundown between third and home. "Prince just blew it. He just messed up. Thats all you can say about it," said manager Ron Washington. "I just didnt get a good jump," Fielder said. "It was my fault." The inning ended when DonnieMurphy struck out. ElvisAndrus and AdrianBeltre committed the other Rangers errors. "It was obvious during training that every time we made a mistake it cost us," Washington said. "We certainly have to tighten down our defence. We dont have a pitching staff that strikes people out right now and we certainly cant have them getting four outs an inning. So that certainly has to get better, and it will." Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon won his first replay reversal in the seventh after it was first ruled that right fielder WilMyers didnt make the catch while sliding forward on J.P.Arencibias two-out flare. After a 1-minute, 43-second delay, the umpires changed the call to an out. Notes: Texas RHP Nick Martinez will make his major league debut in Saturday nights game against the Rays. "Go out there and relax, and use his pitches," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Get us as many outs as you can. Be out there as long as you can. Believing in himself, believing in the stuff he has, and using it." ... LHP DavidPrice will start Saturday for the Rays. ... Rangers LHP MattHarrison (back) will make his next minor league start Tuesday. He went two innings in a rain-shortened outing Thursday for Double-A Frisco. ... Tampa Bay sent RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo (elbow ligament replacement surgery) to Triple-A Durham on a rehab assignment. Billy Butler Royals Jersey . -- Last month, RichieIncognito said severe repercussions would be warranted if the Miami Dolphins kept allowing sacks at such an alarming rate. Alex Gordon Authentic Jersey . You watch the game live on TSN at 7pm et/4pm pt or listen live on TSN Radio 690 Montreal. The Canadiens have won three straight and six of their past seven games, pushing them two points ahead of Tampa Bay for second place in the Atlantic Division.Well, that was quick. Shortly after climbing to within 3.5 games of the Easts final playoff spot, the Toronto Raptors dropped three straight games (including one pivotal contest against the Easts current eighth seed, the Milwaukee Bucks) and all but eliminated themselves from the postseason conversation. Now the attention turns to new priorities as the club looks to set themselves up for a strong transition into the 2013-14 season. The overriding concern for the next six weeks is simple: win. With no draft pick to look forward to, there is no motivation for the club to tank games the rest of the way. The coaching staff should keep driving a winning mentality into its players, rather than let them take their foot off of the gas pedal to close out the season. There are still a lot of issues with the construction of this club, and it is far easier to evaluate those issues if the club is going full-bore right up to the end. That isnt to say that player development should take a backseat, however. JonasValanciunas has looked like a changed player since returning from his broken finger and featuring him in the post the rest of the way is terribly important. The Raptors are aching for a player who can create high percentage shots consistently around the basket and Valanciunas has been flashing some confident and aggressive moves around the hoop of late. Finding a way to exploit that more frequently is important as it will be a staple of the clubs attack next season. If the Raptors can get to a point where they feel comfortable having Valanciunas as a post threat (albeit a developing one), then that could have a significant impact on their summer shopping season as it could cross one notable need off the list. In that same vein, TerrenceRoss needs to see more minutes the rest of the way, as well. Hes played only 8.4 minutes per game since the All-Star break, and while part of that is a result of his 18.2% shooting clip during that span, hes simply too important to the clubs future to see so little action the rest of the way. As productive as AlanAndersons been in spurts this season, he is simply not a long-term asset for the club (their glut on the wings makes re-signing him this summer a questionable proposition) and Ross has too many key attributes that the organization needs to hone before next season. If RudyGay is going to be the clubs primary offensive weapon going forward, then it makes sense to develop Ross as a counter-punch to Gays attack. At his best, he can hit outside shots, play strong perimeter defence and fill the lanes on the break - all assets that will make Gays life easier out on the court. None of this is to suggest, though, that Valanciunas and Ross should be given an unlimited leash, nor that the team should be sacrificing their quality of play to get them minutes. As important as their individual development is (and it is key), of greater importance for the club is the level of accountability that is needed to turn this organization into a consistent winner. No player should be allowed to get away with unproductive play just because they are young. They need to be allowed some latitude to play through mistakes and learn, but there also needs to be explicit parameters as to what will get them pulled out of a game. This is about laying a foundation of accountability, and it needs to be ingrained in a player as early as ppossible. Eric Hosmer Jersey. Which, of course, routes us to where everything Raptors related eventually gets routed back to: AndreaBargnani. It is beyond imperative that the club sever ties with him this summer, for the same oft-cited litany of reasons that have always dogged Bargnani, but figuring out the best path to get him traded is the biggest headache in Raptor-land right now. Hes playing so poorly these days that 11 points on 4-14 shooting (his line Saturday against the Bucks) now constitutes a good game. He looks totally drained of confidence out on the court and his teammates arent exactly killing themselves to cover for his mistakes anymore. Considering this, its hard to conceive of a situation where the Raptors could part with the remaining two years and $23-million left on his contract and get any kind of value in return. They have to find a way, though, because that hefty salary represents the second-largest salary drain on their ledger and they have too many holes to fill to sink so much cash into an unproductive roster spot. In order to up his value, however, hes going to need a steady diet of minutes and a concerted effort to make him look good on offence while hiding him on defence. Unfortunately, this strategy flies completely in the face of the winning-based priorities that have been outlined already, but such is the cruel reality of professional sports. Getting some kind of value in exchange for Bargnani this summer is nearly as important as hammering in the kind of good, self-policing habits that the Raptors need to become a better team next season. Balancing those two priorities is going to be tricky, and frankly there are going to be nights when Casey gets it wrong, but its an unenviable task that is too important to be swept under the rug. While fans will clamor for Casey to just park Bargnani on the bench, the organization cannot afford to devalue this asset any further than it already has been. They need desperately to build him back up so they can sell him for something useful in a few months time. Basically, fans have to stomach him more now to avoid having to stomach him at all later. Thats the trade-off and people are going to have to embrace it. After that, its just a matter of working through the system from game-to-game until the season wraps up. That means continuing to look for the right way to unleash KyleLowry, as he needs to be more of a factor next season. That means finding ways to get RudyGay and DeMarDeRozan higher percentage shots (they are both shooting below 41% since the trade). That means keeping the defensive efficiency on its current upward trend while trying to reverse the plummeting efficiency on the offensive end. That means finding minutes for SebastianTelfair so as to avoid having given up a valuable high second round pick for a totally unused asset. Most importantly, though, it means finding a reason for an increasingly jaded fan base to look forward to next season after this one proved so thoroughly underwhelming. This season was supposed to showcase the future of the Toronto Raptors, but instead it just showed everyone more of the same. If there really is the core here of something special, then the organization should dedicate the next six weeks to demonstrating it to their fans. This was an underwhelming season, give them a reason to be excited for the next one. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

The St. Custom Mets Jersey . Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres came to an agreement on a big trade that may only offer incremental improvement to the Blues in their quest for a Stanley Cup. Numbers Game breaks down the Blues acquisition of RyanMiller and SteveOtt. The Blues Get: G RyanMiller and C SteveOtt. Miller, 33, is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, despite rarely getting rewarded with wins by this struggling Sabres team. Millers .923 save percentage this season is the second-best of his career, bettered only by his .929 save percentage in 2009-2010, when he won the Vezina Trophy as top goaltender. Its that strong play from Miller this year that has made him an attractive commodity on the trade market because, over the past three seasons, his .926 even-strength save percentage is only okay, just barely ahead of JaroslavHalaks .925 mark. Its also not like Miller has a sterling playoff reputation. He hasnt played beyond the first round since 2007 and his .917 career save percentage in the playoffs is actually worse than Halaks .923. The numbers arent going to present a strong edge for Miller, so the deal has to be predicated on some comfort level; that the Blues intangibly feel better about their chances with Miller than Halak. Ott is a 31-year-old forward who has been asked to handle too much ice time on a Sabres team lacking bona fide NHL talent. Hes averaging a career-high 19:42 per game -- a couple of seconds more per game than current Blues No. 1 centre DavidBackes -- despite getting destroyed in terms of puck possession. However, Ott had established earlier in his career that he could be a decent complementary forward, skating in a top-nine role and penalty killing while chipping in some offence and annoying just about anyone he comes in contact with. Since the start of the 2009-2010 season, Ott is the only player in the NHL to have at least 60 goals and 600 penalty minutes. In a third or fourth-line role with the Blues, though, Ott should be in position to have some success. Both Miller and Ott will be unrestricted free agents in the summer, so there isnt any grand financial commitment from the Blues, though if their playoff run goes well, its safe to assume that St. Louis would at least want to keep Miller around. The Sabres Get: G JaroslavHalak, RW ChrisStewart, LW WilliamCarrier, a first-round pick in 2015 and a third-round pick in 2016. Halak, 28, has been decent this season, posting a .917 save percentage (that matches his career mark) in 40 games. Hes had some ups and downs, including an injury-marred 2013 season during which he posted an .899 save percentage but, by and large, hes been an above average goaltender throughout his 260-game NHL career. Halaks .917 career save percentage is actually a hair better than Millers .916 save percentage. While Halak was moved out, its not impossible for the Sabres to flip him again prior to the deadline. Halak will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, so there are no guarantees about where hes going to be playing next year. Stewart is a 26-year-old power forward who has 15 goals, 26 points and a career-high 112 penalty minutes in 58 games this season. Those numbers are a far cry from last season, when Stewart led the Blues with 36 points in 48 games and his ice time has been knocked down to 14:42 per game, his lowest since his rookie year in 2008-2009. Even worse, Stewart has been getting torched in terms of puck possession, despite starting more than 60% of his shifts in the offensive zone. On a team as good as the Blues, thats not easy to accomplish. Nevertheless, Stewart is a big winger who can score and is under contract at a cap hit of $4.15-million for next season. If he doesnt perform well in Buffalo, Stewart could very easily be moved again, or he could get flipped even before he suits up for the Sabres. Carrier was a second-round pick of the Blues in 2013 and has 56 points (17 G, 39 A) in 59 QMJHL games. He has the size to be a power foward and was traded to Drummondville part way through the season. Carrier will need a few years to develop, but his offensive production this year raises some questions about whether hes going to be a notable scorer as a pro. Getting the Blues first-round pick in 2015 is a nice coup for the Sabres. Its not as though the Blues can be expected to collapse and be in line for the No. 1 pick, which is earmarked for Connor McDavid, but the 2015 draft is expected to be strong, so there is likely more value for the Sabres getting that pick rather than one late in the 2014 draft. The third-round pick in 2016 is a nice sweetener, with upside, as it could be a first-round pick if the Blues reach the Western Conference Final or Miller re-signs in St. Louis. These are two teams in virtually opposite positions. The Blues are ready to take a run at the Stanley Cup and are willing to take on a couple of potential rentals to help in that regard, and while the Blues sacrificed some draft pick value, they didnt lose any core pieces of the team that has been so successful to this point in the season. Yet, when Arsenals players woke up on Saturday morning, the calendar had turned to March and the sun was shining. In Stoke, of all places. The white ball was back, a sign that the harshest conditions were behind us, but also a stark reality that the final stretch of the season was now here. Arsenals journey, in the marathon that is the Premier League season, had so far been a success with them spending much of the race out in front. Many onlookers expected them to hit a wall but here they were in March, now, and the only thing remotely looking like a wall was a brief meltdown as they passed through the red half of Merseyside last month. Four points against Manchester United and Sunderland, plus a win over Liverpool in the FA Cup, had put them back on track, sprinting into March with more and more believing they could be the first across the line when their race is run in Norwich on May 11. Yet, still there were the non-believers. "They have always been an outstanding team and they have great ability within their ranks," said Stoke manager Mark Hughes on Friday before going on to tell us what he really thinks: "but I just felt maybe they wouldnt have the ability to sustain a challenge. I think there are possibly stronger challengers, stronger teams that could take it away from them." Arsenals match with Stoke was only one of 38 encounters that will define their league season but given the time of the year and their history with this opponent, it felt much more than that. It proved to be a test they failed miserably. The result went against them, losing 1-0, as did the decisions, a questionable penalty call and a missed red card for Stokes Charlie Adam amongst them, but if Arsenal want the jury to make a decision on whether they are genuine title contenders, this would not be evidence theyd want to present them. The Gunners were unimaginative in attack, too narrow and slow in tempo. They lacked the creative brilliance that has so often helped them this season and the sharpness in possession. As often happens when they struggle going forward, they look to have too many similar players; ball treasurers who demand it and flock towards it. Oh, how they missed a Theo Walcott, someone in attack who can sprint on to a ball rather than run towards it. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is showing he will one day be a fine player, offered this in all-too-brief substitute appearance late on. Stoke, of course, deserved credit for defending well and it should be noted that Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have also not won there this season, but the concerns for Arsenal didnt start and end with the final result. "Its a defeat that hurts," said Wenger after the match. He added: "The consequences of this defeat could be very difficult to take and we will have to respond very quickly." Wenger is not a man that allows a conclusion to be reached based on one game but the choice of consequence as a word shows he has a concern that the league challenge could slip away. Arsenal ended the day in third place on 59pts after 28 games, four points off leaders Chelsea. On this same weekend four years ago, Wenger also met with the media at the Brittania Stadium after his team had won 3-1 against Stoke (to this day their only victory there in eight attempts). It was a sad day for the Frenchman after Aaron Ramsey had broken his leg but, despite being visibly angry and upset, Wenger admitted that he felt his team was very much in the title race after the win. Keith Hernandez Authentic Jersey. Arsenal ended that day in third place on 58pts after 28 games, three points off leaders Chelsea. Arsenal faded down the stretch, going from an average of 2.07 points per game (PPG) to 1.70 in the last ten games, with 17 added to 58 to give them a total of 75. They finished third, 11pts back of winners Chelsea and they were out of the race with a month to go. Two years earlier, on this weekend during the 2007-08 season, Arsenal led the league with 10 games to go, sitting on 65pts to Manchester Uniteds 64 and Chelseas 61. At the end of the season, United won the title on 87pts (23 in their last 10 games), Chelsea finished second on 85pts (24 in their last 10 games) and Arsenal finished third on 83pts, going from an average of 2.32 PPG to 1.80 PPG (18pts in their last 10 games). With 10 games remaining in the 2010-11 season, Arsenal were second on 57pts, just three points off leaders Manchester United. Once again they faded down the stretch, going from an average of 2.04 PPG to 1.10 PPG, achieving just 11pts in their last 10 games to with a total of 68, in fourth, and 12pts back of winners Manchester United.Arsenal hit their wall while the best got stronger. 2009-10 -- Chelsea 25pts from a possible 302010-11 -- Manchester United 20pts from a possible 30 That is the nightmare scenario that Arsenal fans are concerned about happening again. The fixture list will ensure the Gunners will have their answer to this by early April. Of their last 10 league games, the four most difficult happen next - Tottenham (a), Chelsea (a), Man City (h), Everton (a) with the first three all happening this month, which also includes a trip to Bayern Munich and an FA Cup match against Everton. Talk about March Madness. After that, Swansea, West Ham, Newcastle and West Brom all come to the Emirates while Hull and Norwich welcome the Gunners. Last season, Arsenal achieved just 13pts from these 10 games (using Hull as Reading) losing at Tottenham, Chelsea and Norwich and at home to Man City and Swansea. It is their difficulties against these teams, coupled with their recent history, as title contenders through 28 games, that leads many to believe Arsenals pursuit of the finish line will fade quickly. Ironically, last season they ended the season extremely strongly, gaining 28pts from a possible 30 to qualify for the Champions League. Unfortunately, for them, at this time last season, they were already 24pts behind leaders Manchester United. In the nine seasons since Arsenal last won the Premier League, the average number of points achieved by the champions in the last 10 matches has been 22, with the lowest being 19 coming by two teams who were running away with the league - Chelsea of 2004-05 and Manchester United last season. Should Arsenal get 22pts from their last 10 games, that would give them 80pts, perhaps not enough to win the title but, likely, enough to maintain their challenge into May, and a haul that would show significant improvement considering they havent gotten over the 75. Arsenal players and fans are regularly told they have not won a trophy in eight years and, soon, that needs to change but, above all else, Arsenal finally need to be relevant title contenders into May, no matter who wins the league. Recent history suggests even that moderate, achievable goal could be beyond them. Upon the marathons completion, we wont just know if Arsenal were worthy title contenders, we will know if they were much better than their unsuccessful teams of the recent past. wholesale jerseyscheap jerseys ' ' ' |
