BOSTON -- ReillySmith is opening a lot of eyes and scoring a lot of goals. DeAngelo Williams Panthers Jersey . Smith scored two goals, and TuukkaRask made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season to lift the Boston Bruins to a 5-0 rout of the Ottawa Senators on Friday night. "Hes a very talented player and he gets in front of the net. Its paying off for him right now," Bruins forward BradMarchand said. When the Bruins traded TylerSeguin in the off-season, they received LouiEriksson, Smith, and two other prospects. Eriksson was the marquee player in the deal, but Smith has yielded the real return thus far. Eriksson has missed time because of two concussions. "I dont think he was looked upon as a throw-in," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "It is the first time he has been given the opportunity to play on a regular basis, and he is finally showcasing his skills. Its no fluke." Smith scored twice in the third period, giving him a team-leading 14 goals. He has five goals and two assists in the last three games. "Hes really taken that opportunity that hes been given, and is on a streak right now," Rask said. "When youre hot, youre hot, just keep shooting." Erikssons injuries opened the door for Smith to move from the third line to the second line, alongside PatriceBergeron and Marchand, and find his groove. Smith also has 16 assists and is second on the team in points. The Bruins are 13-0-2 in their last 15 home games and have won eight straight in Boston. They havent lost there in regulation since Oct. 26. Rask (20-8-2) has allowed one goal or fewer in 15 of his 30 starts this season. After earning only 19 wins last season, he is now the third goalie with 20 NHL wins this season. Boston tied a club record, set in 1929, by having a player score two goals for the seventh straight game. Smith has done it three times. RobinLehner made 36 saves for Ottawa, which has dropped four of five. "We were really bad. End of story," Lehner said. "Twenty good minutes and 40 bad ones. Teams are picking us apart when we arent working hard and when we arent playing hard." JaromeIginla beat Lehner with 3:31 remaining in the second when he slammed in a rebound of ToreyKrugs slap shot during a power play to make it 1-0. Ottawa dominated the first period, holding a 15-5 shot advantage, but Boston turned the tables in the second with a 20-8 edge. In addition to the 19 saves in the second period, Lehner was stung by JohnnyBoychuks slap shot, but stayed in the game. "We hung Robin out to dry," Senators captain JasonSpezza said. "One step forward and one step back. We need to start playing better hockey or they arent going to let us play much longer." DavidKrejci put Boston ahead 2-0 with a shot from the right circle 38 seconds into the third period. "In the third, getting that early goal by Krejci was a big momentum shift," Iginla said. Marchand capped the scoring with a short-handed goal with 27 seconds remaining. The teams will complete the home-and-home series on Saturday at Ottawa. NOTES: Bruins LW DanielPaille returned after missing seven games because of a concussion. ... Ottawa is one of three teams that has never swept Boston in a season series. ... Boston D DennisSeidenberg sustained a lower-body injury. He wont play on Saturday. ... Bergeron added two assists for Boston, which has outscored its last three opponents 15-3. Jerricho Cotchery Womens Jersey . Play hard, play tough and play rough. The philosophy has been a lesson in frustration for opponents. Cam Newton Jersey . Wedge will manage the final three games of this season against Oakland before the Mariners begin a search for a new manager. "Its got to the point where its painfully obvious to me that I just wasnt going to be able to move forward with this organization," Wedge said before Fridays game. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- With all the power they possess in the middle of their lineup, the Los Angeles Angels dont usually need home runs from ChrisIannetta. Yet thats what they got in a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals. The veteran catcher hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning Sunday to lift the Angels to a 4-3 victory. He also connected Friday night for their first run in a win. Iannettas latest go-ahead drive sailed into the lower seats in the left-field corner. "I didnt know if it was going to go out or not. I was just hoping it would stay fair. Im glad it did," he said. Reliever TimCollins (0-3) retired the first batter in the eighth before Iannetta hit his fifth homer of the season. "I just missed. I was trying to go away," Collins said. "You cant miss your spots in those situations. Thats what I did, and thats what happens." MichaelKohn (2-1) pitched a scoreless inning. ErnestoFrieri got three outs for his sixth save, retiring AlcidesEscobar on a popup with a runner on third. GarrettRichards, trying to preserve some arms in the Angels bullpen following Saturday nights 13-inning 7-4 loss, pitched seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked two. "I was prepared to go back out for the eighth, with the bullpen being taxed from last night," Richards said. "But I always try to go deep in game because I know that if I do, Im doing my job. Im going as hard as I can for as long as I can." Royals starter JasonVargas was charged with a run and three hits over 6 1-3 innings in his return to Angel Stadium, and was lifted after 109 pitches with a 3-0 lead. KelvinHerrera took over with a runner at first and gave up a single by No. 9 hitter CollinCowgill on his first pitch. MikeTrout hit an RBI double with one out, AlbertPujols was hit by an 0-2 pitch and DavidFreese had a tying, two-run single. Pujols tried to score the go-ahead run from second on C.J.Crons sharp single, but LorenzoCain -- starting in right field for the first time this season after 28 starts in centre -- threw him out at the plate. Vargas struck out six and tied a career high with five walks. This was the sixth time in 165 big league starts that the 31-year-old left-hander has walked as many as five batters, and the first time sincee July 20, 2011, with Seattle. Antoine Cason Jersey. "I think he was being extra careful with Pujols and Trout -- and HowieKendricks also tough," manager Ned Yost said. "Thats a powerful lineup over there. So either he was going to make his pitch, or he wasnt going to make a mistake to those guys and let them drive it out of the ballpark." Vargas walked his first batter in the second, third and fourth innings after giving up a leadoff single in the first, but the Angels couldnt capitalize. He walked his first two batters in the third before retiring Pujols on a double-play grounder to shortstop and striking out Freese. "It was just one of those games where I had to battle through some innings," Vargas said. "I was just missing and wasnt able to get ahead on some of those guys, but I was fortunate to get back into some counts later in the inning and ended up getting out of it." The Royals, who scored first in all three games of the series, took a 3-0 lead in the second. PedroCiriaco hit a bloop double that scored JimmyParedes, who singled and advanced on Richards first balk in 291 1-3 career innings to that point. JarrodDyson reached on a fielding error by Gold Glove shortstop ErickAybar, and EricHosmer followed with a sacrifice fly before AlexGordon capped the rally with an RBI single. Richards retired his next 11 batters, striking out the side on 11 pitches in the fifth. "Other than the third inning, it was good," Richards said. Vargas was 9-8 with a 4.02 ERA in 24 starts with the Angels last season after four years with Seattle. He signed a four-year, $32 million contract with Kansas City on Nov. 21. NOTES: LF Cowgill made two sliding catches in foul territory, one on Hosmers sacrifice fly. ... The Angels optioned RHP MattShoemaker to Triple-A Salt Lake and selected six-year veteran LHP WadeLeBlanc to the major league roster. LeBlanc, who signed a minor league contract in November as a free agent, was 5-1 with a 3.69 ERA with Salt Lake. He had a combined 20-32 record and 4.51 ERA in 96 big league appearances with the Padres, Marlins and Astros, including 68 starts. ... The Royals recalled RHP Michael Mariot from Triple-A Omaha and optioned C Francisco Pena to the minor league team. Pena is the son of former Royals manager and current Yankees bench coach TonyPena. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

REGINA -- Sinorice Moss is looking to kick-start his football career in the CFL. Ken Griffey Authentic Jersey . The receiver who earned a Super Bowl ring with the 2007 New York Giants signed was among three import players to agree to terms with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Tuesday. The others were offensive lineman Johan Asiata and linebacker Daniel Sheffield. The five-foot-eight, 185-pound Moss was a second-round pick (44th overall) of the Giants in the 2006 NFL draft. The Miami native spent five seasons with New York, registering 39 catches for 421 yards and three touchdowns. Moss played his college football at Miami, finishing with 68 receptions for 1,106 yards and nine touchdowns. The six-foot-four, 300-pound Asiata spent time the last three seasons on the Chicago Bears practice squad after his college career at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The six-foot-four, 210-pound Sheffield played three seasons at Troy University, lining up at safety and linebacker. He accumulated 147 career defensive tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception. The Riders also released import receiver Ernie Wheelwright on Tuesday. Felix Hernandez Jersey .Louis is going to get a chance to represent his country at the Winter Olympics after all. Felix Hernandez Mariners Jersey . -- DwightHoward vs.The Vancouver Whitecaps will look to bounce back this season from the disappointment of missing the 2013 MLS Cup playoffs - and they will do so under new leadership. Former assistant coach, Carl Robinson, is the clubs new head coach, replacing Martin Rennie, who was removed from the post back in October. The appointment of Robinson has been received with widespread approval, despite the fact that he wasnt the clubs first choice. Former U.S. mens national team coach, Bob Bradley, was the man the Whitecaps were courting. But when that move failed to come to fruition, the club chose to appoint from within. It is an appointment that I believe will work very well for the club. Robinson has a very bright football mind and is well-respected within the league. He has an excellent rapport with young players - of whom the Whitecaps have many - and it will be his ability to get the most out of those young players that will determine how far the Caps will go in 2014. While Robinson wont be afraid to utilize whatever tactical formation is best suited for each opponent, I expect he will begin the season lining up in a 1-4-2-3-1 formation, with the following players being first choice: Goalkeeper - David Ousted When David Ousted joined the club last season, many fans questioned the wisdom of adding a player in a position at which the club appeared to be reasonably solid; both Brad Knighton and Joe Cannon had played well over the course of their time in Vancouver. But Martin Rennie felt the need for an upgrade, and it is fair to say that Ousted will be expected to perform as such this season. He has had a few moments to forget in a Whitecaps jersey, but by and large, Ousted is an upgrade over the previous incumbents. His distribution is excellent, he is a good shot-stopper and is comfortable claiming crosses. Ousted is also not afraid to be vocal - something that all teams need from their keeper. If Ousted performs up to his potential, expect him to play ahead of Paolo Tornaghi. Right Fullback - Steven Beitashour If you ask Carl Robinson, the Vancouver Whitecaps signed the best right fullback in Major League Soccer in the offseason - and he might just be right. Beitashour was an MLS All-Star in 2012, and he has shown that he is willing and able to get forward to provide scoring chances for his teammates. His 16 assists over the last three seasons are ample evidence. If Beitashour can carry on performing at this level for the Whitecaps, the problem of replacing the retired Lee Young-Pyo wont be much of a problem at all. Left Fullback - Jordan Harvey When the Whitecaps traded Alain Rochat to DC United last season - for an undisclosed amount of allocation money - the fans were up in arms. Rochat was a popular player, and fans felt that Harvey would be unable to fill his shoes. Harvey responded by putting in the best season of his career. His four goals over the course of the season tripled his career production to date, and went some way to alleviating the fans concerns over the solidity of the left fullback position. Academy graduate, Sam Adekugbe, is one to watch for the future, but to start the season, the left back position is Harveys to lose. Central Defender - Jay DeMerit The Vancouver Whitecaps first-ever signing, Jay DeMerit has, in many ways, become the face of the club. In fact, one could argue that he and his wife, Olympic gold-medallist Ashleigh McIvor, are the poster couple of Vancouver sports. Publicity aside, it will be DeMerits play on the field that is most important. He showed tremendous attitude and work rate to come back from a torn Achilles tendon last season, and put in some solid defensive performances towards the end of the year. He set the standard with those performances, and if he is to stay in the team, he will need to match that standard. Dont expect DeMerit to dribble the ball into midfield or play 60-yard cross-field passes - that isnt what he does best. What he does do is lead by example; he puts his body on the line week in, week out, and what he lacks in technical savvy he makes up for in tenacity. Central Defender - Andy OBrien Some fans were surprised that the Whitecaps re-signed Andy OBrien last season - but I wasnt. OBrien is quiet and soft-spoken off the field, but once he crosses the white line, he adopts a much different demeanor. He organizes and commands the back four, and along with DeMerit, leads by example. His experience playing at the highest level in England is evident, as he reads the game well and sees dangerous situations before they develop. The only concern with OBrien - and the same concern applies to DeMerit - is that he can remain healthy, given that he is on the wrong side of 30. If either DeMerit of OBrien go down with injury, expect Jonny Leveron and Carlisle Mitchell to be able deputies. Defensive Midfielder - Nigel Reo-Coker When he joined the Whitecaps last season, Nigel Reo-Coker put in some outstanding performances. It was to be expected, given the level at which he has played throughout his career in England. Reo-Coker is outspoken and demands the very highest of himself and of his teammates. When those standards are not met, he can become frustrated. If Robinson is to get the best out of Reo-Coker, he will need to keep his midfield general in a good frame of mind - focused on the job at hand, not concerned with distractions in other areas of the team. Justin Smoak Jersey. . Reo-Coker can be the driving force in the middle of the park for Vancouver. If he has a strong campaign, the Whitecaps will be successful. Defensive Midfielder - Matias Laba As soon as Michael Bradley became available, it was inevitable that Toronto FC would have to move Matias Laba. Its a real shame for TFC, because I rate Laba very highly. At times last year, he was a man playing alongside boys in Toronto. He has a very bright football brain, and he reads the game really well. Alongside Reo-Coker, the Whitecaps could very well have the strongest pair of central midfielders in MLS - the box-to-box power of Reo-Coker complimenting the positional discipline and tenacity of Laba. Because he doesnt play a glamorous position, Laba will not get the credit he deserves for his play. But those in the know will see the value in the little things that Laba does so well. Right Midfield - Russell Teibert This is a very important year for Russell Teibert. He is currently out of favour with the Canadian mens national team, and the only way for him to work his way back into Benito Floros plans is to play so well for his club team that leaving him out is not an option. To do that, Teibert needs to produce - goals and assists, to be precise. He isnt going to supplant either Reo-Coker or Laba as a defensive midfielder, a position he played during pre-season. He isnt going to supplant newly signed designated player, Pedro Morales, as an attacking midfielder, either. So if Teibert is going to stay in the team, he needs to make the right midfield position his own. He has plenty of good qualities; he is technically sound, has a great left foot and is the fittest member of the Whitecaps squad. But his biggest asset is that he wants to learn. He latched onto Nigel Reo-Coker when the Englishman joined the club last season, and has tried to soak up as much football knowledge as he could. If Teibert doesnt perform, expect Kekuta Manneh to be given a run in the team. You will see plenty of Manneh this season, but I think Robinson is smart enough to know that the youngster needs time to continue his development, and cannot be rushed into a starting role. Left Midfield - Sebastian Fernandez One of two Uruguayans to join the club in the offseason, Fernandez looks to be a very exciting option for the Whitecaps, in either of the wide midfield positions. Fernandez is comfortable with a ball at his feet, has strong technical qualities and has provided a creative influence for the team down the left flank during preseason. If he can develop an understanding with Pedro Morales, the Whitecaps will have the attacking midfield threat that has been lacking for the last three seasons. There will be a period of adaptation for Fernandez - and this applies to Nicolas Mezquida and Pedro Morales as well - to the rigours of MLS. The travel and varying playing conditions, not to mention the physicality of the league, will require that he be adaptable. If he can do this, his technical ability will have a chance to shine. Attacking Midfield - Pedro Morales The Whitecaps have been in desperate need of a genuine attacking midfielder since they joined Major League Soccer. Not since Davide Chiumiento have the club had a player that could even remotely be called a number 10. Pedro Morales will be that player. Morales has spent the last year playing for Malaga in Spains La Liga, and he has two goals in 11 international appearances for Chile. His touch is exquisite, his passing range and vision is superb, and he is not afraid to shoot from distance. He will be expected to slot into the Whitecaps midfield almost immediately, and will be relied upon to dictate play when Vancouver is in possession of the ball, to create scoring chances and to score goals himself. Forward - Darren Mattocks Carl Robinson has a big challenge on his hands - to turn Darren Mattocks into the player that Darren Mattocks thinks he is. The young Jamaican has a very high opinion of himself as a player - he said so himself in an off-season interview on Jamaican television. Mattocks has so much to learn about the game tactically, though, and Robinson and his coaching staff will have their hands full trying to develop that aspect of Mattocks game. It will be doubly difficult if they cannot get Mattocks head out of the clouds. It is a real test of the new head coachs man-management abilities. Succeed, and the Whitecaps will have a fearsome striker on their hands. Fail, and Darren Mattocks will be just another player who failed to live up to his potential. If Mattocks struggles, the Whitecaps have options. The experienced Kenny Miller will be desperate to impress and earn an extension to his contract, and Kekuta Manneh is always a threat up front or out wide coming off the bench. The Vancouver Whitecaps are a young, dynamic team who have added some South American quality in Laba, Morales, Fernandez and Mezquida. Their squad is deeper and more talented than the one that began the 2013 MLS season, and if Carl Robinson can get the young players to be consistent, the Whitecaps will surprise many people this season. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

TORONTO BrandonMorrow is back with the Blue Jays. Junior Seau Womens Jersey . Not to pitch, though, as hes not close to a return to the mound, but as he progresses in his rehabilitation from a torn tendon sheath in his right index finger, its time to come under the closer watch of the ballclubs medical and training staff. Throwing once again, Morrow shared that there is no drop dead date to determine whether hell need surgery on the injury, a procedure which would end his season and possibly his tenure in Toronto. I would take it as far as until it went out again, until it tore, said Morrow. If it tore, it would probably take the other pulley with it and then I would need to get it fixed. Im just going to take it up until that point and not worry about it. Often when an athlete gets injured, hes out of sight, out of mind. The team must go on without him. Little thought is paid to the hours of rehab required. It can get lonely and boring for the guy going through it. The situation can be made worse depending on the type of injury sustained. For Morrow its a finger, which is especially limiting. Following the first two weeks of recovery, during which his right hand was completely immobilized by a splint, he began with pinching exercises using clothespins and putty. For one to two hours, three days a week, Morrow was at a Phoenix-area clinic working through his program with others who suffered similar hand and wrist injuries. A number of people with carpal tunnel syndrome were classmates. Morrows gym work was limited to lower-body strength exercises. He could still work his shoulders using two and three-pound weights, being careful with his grip. After about a month, he resumed an upper body regimen. For the last five days, Morrow has been throwing a baseball. Hes just playing catch at this point; from 45 feet for four days, extending to 60 feet on Tuesday afternoon. His finger is far from 100 per cent, not in pain, but still stiff. It actually feels better after I throw, said Morrow. It kind of loosens it up and the range of motion gets better. Its been great. Throwing has been good for the last week. Morrow would sit on his couch and watch the Blue Jays. Its strange being a member of a team but being so far away from your mates. Morrow was close to four thousand kilometres away, staring at a TV. You kind of feel like that, you kind of feel like a fan, said Morrow. But obviously you know a little bit more of whats going on in the game. You feel the emotions a little bit more because youve been there. I know the fans are invested, but they dont quite as emotionally invested as the players do, although some might say they do. Sometimes its hard to watch because you cant help out. Morrow would like to return as a starter. What isnt clear is how long hell need to get back up on a mound. That wont be happening anytime soon and hes been down long enough that hell need another spring training-like experience to get his arm stretched out. Regardless, in the final guaranteed year of his deal (the Blue Jays hold a $10 million option for 2015 thats unlikely to be picked up), he wants to play a role in a pennant drive. Hes motivated. Thats really what youve got to use, said Morrow. Theres nothing else to motivate you. When you look up and see them keep winning everyday it gives you a better chance at doing that. I dont think Ive ever pitched in a pennant race so it was exciting, even for me sitting at home and watching, to watch them win. Morrow will remain with the Blue Jays until such time as he heads out on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment. Hell be here for a while. Nick Novak Womens Jersey . ErikKarlsson and the Ottawa Senators felt good after their 3-1 defeat of the Washington Capitals on Monday, their first back-to-back victory in 51 days and their first three-game winning streak at the Canadian Tire Centre this season. Eric Weddle Chargers Jersey . LOUIS - LanceLynn bounced back from his worst start of the season with 6 2-3 scoreless innings and the St.Bryan Colangelo has admitted to tanking. The former Toronto Raptors general manager spoke to the MIT Sports Analytics Conference in Toronto on Friday where he said that he intended for the Raptors to finish as close to the Eastern Conference basement as possible in the lockout shortened 2011-12 season in hope of winning the NBA Draft lottery. "Admittedly, I will say, I tried to tank a couple years ago," said Colangelo to the conference."And I didnt come out and say, Coach (Dwane Casey), youve got to lose games. I never said that. I wanted to have him establish a winning tradition and a culture and all of that, but I wanted to do it in the framework of playing and developing young players, and with that comes losing. Theres just no way to avoid that, but I never once said, Youve got to lose this game. Brandon Flowers Womens Jersey. " The Raptors finished the 2011-12 season 23-43, good for 11th in the Eastern Conference, 12 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the final playoff spot in the East, and the eighth-worst record in the NBA. The team neither rose, nor fell in the lottery, receiving the eighth-overall pick in the 2012 draft where they selected TerrenceRoss out of the University of Washington. The 2007 NBA Executive of the Year (with the Phoenix Suns)was speaking on a proposal currently in front of the NBA Board of Governors which would see the draft lottery and any incentive to bottom out eliminated. Colangelo was relieved of his general manager position last May in favour of Masai Ujiri and eventually resigned his post as Raptors president the following month. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

OAKLAND, Calif. Clay Harbor Jersey . -- When the Seattle Mariners were in the midst of a recent eight-game losing streak, manager Lloyd McClendon reminded his players such stretches happen, and they will happen again. Then he challenged them to respond in a positive way. The club is now doing a little bit of everything right to get back on track. Rookie Roenis Elias struck out six while pitching into the seventh to win consecutive starts for the first time, JustinSmoak drove in three runs and the Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 8-3 on Tuesday night for their season-best fourth straight victory. "Its been something incredible," Elias said. "Everybodys together doing their job. I like my team how theyre playing baseball." Smoak hit an RBI double and DustinAckley a run-scoring single in the first to back Elias (3-2), who followed up a 10-strikeout gem at Yankee Stadium his last time out with another impressive start once he settled down. The Mariners jumped on JesseChavez (2-1) to take a quick first-inning lead for the second straight game against the As -- and Seattle scored all three of its first-inning runs with two outs on the way to its ninth win in 11 games overall. "We know that were not going to win a playoff spot in April," MichaelSaunders said. "However, that being said, losing eight straight was a definite learning experience for us. Its not going to be the last time." Chavez got a scare and escaped injury in the fourth when he saved himself from a hard-hit liner by Saunders by catching the screamer that was going right for his face. "It was all reflexes, I just put my glove up," Chavez said. "As soon as I let go of the pitch I saw him make contact. Ive jumped out of the way at balls at my lower body, but Ive never had one like that at my face before." Making the play knocked him off his feet to end the fourth, and the small Coliseum crowd of 12,106 briefly fell silent. "Luckily no one got hurt. I havent seen the replay but guys said it had a chance to hit him square in the face," Saunders said. Chavez got a double play to face the minimum in the fifth, but his night ended after allowing MikeZuninos sixth-inning sacrifice fly following a hit batsman and a walk. Oakland No. 9 hitter NickPunto pulled Oakland back in it with a two-run, two-out single in the second. YoenisCespedes, back in the starting lineup after nursing a left hamstring injury, hit a leadoff home run in the sixth. The As squandered a scoring chance in the seventh against Dominic Leone, leaving the tying run on third as they again struggled with runners in scoring position. Elias allowed three runs and five hits with three walks in 6 1-3 innings in his seventh career start. SeanDoolittle struck out all four batters he faced in relief of Chavez. But Seattle added on four unearned runs in the top of the ninth against 2013 AL saves leader JimJohnson, who was booed off the mound when pulled by manager Bob Melvin as fans headed for the exits. Smoak added a two-run single. For Wednesdays doubleheader, FelixHernandez will pitch Game 1 for Seattle and ErasmoRamirez the second. As manager Bob Melvin didnt announce his choice for the nightcap, though DanStraily pitches the opener. Oakland will make right-hander ArnoldLeon its 26th player for the second game but is likely to start DrewPomeranz since he didnt pitch in relief Tuesday. The 25-year-old Leons family was scheduled to fly in from Mexico for his likely major league debut after nine seasons in the minors. The teams are playing two after an April 4 game was called because of a soggy field that had mistakenly gone without its tarp during a heavy rainstorm. NOTES: Saunders, who came in batting .393 with a homer and five RBIs in seven games batting leadoff, went 0 for 4 atop the order. "I dont like messing with success," McClendon said. "Hes been doing great, weve been doing great. Its kind of hard to change that."... As reliever EricOFlaherty, on the disabled list since undergoing Tommy John surgery in the off-season, threw a 30-pitch bullpen session and could begin throwing to hitters soon, and Melvin said an announcement on the pitchers next step would come Wednesday. ... Melvin said Triple-A catcher StephenVogt, an As playoff star last October currently on Sacramentos disabled list, is close to returning from a strained oblique muscle. 02:32ET 07-05-14 Blake Bortles Jersey . Filion, from Laval, Que., and Montreals Benfeito finished third with 326.10 points. Ruolin Chen and Hao Wang of China won gold with 360.66 points and Paola Espinosa and Alejandra Orozco of Mexico were second at 327. John Cyprien Jaguars Jersey . For KyleLowry, its become an accepted reality. He will be traded. The question is, when and where? The Raptors point guard is widely believed to be next on general manager Masai Ujiris chopping block after the first domino - RudyGay, Lowrys best friend - fell last week.Next up for Michael Phelps comeback: Two events that produced Olympic gold. Phelps has entered the 100-meter butterfly and the 200 freestyle at the Charlotte Grand Prix meet in North Carolina next week, his coach, Bob Bowman, told The Associated Press on Monday night. With both events on May 16, Bowman can stick to the plan of building up Phelps endurance while staying away, at least for now, from the grueling, multi-day programs that were once the norm for Phelps. There will be morning preliminaries and evening finals, though the coach said hes not yet certain Phelps will actually compete in both races. Phelps returned to competitive swimming at a meet in Arizona less than two weeks ago, his first since retiring after the 2012 London Games as the most decorated athlete in Olympic history. He is the three-time defending Olympic champion in the 100 fly, so its obvious that race would be part of any plans to compete at the Rio Games. He won the 200 free at the 2008 Beijing Games -- during his record eight-gold performance -- but dropped the event in London. Phelps also competed in two events at the Mesa Grand Prix, finishing second to longtime rival Ryan Lochte in the 100 fly and matching the fourth-fastest time in the world this year. The other event, the 50 freestyle, wassnt nearly as serious. Josh Scobee Jersey. That race has never been part of Phelps program at a major meet, and he even used his preliminary heat to work on his butterfly stroke. Not surprisingly, he finished 42nd overall against swimmers who were using the much faster freestyle. Still, it was a good starting point for what the Phelps camp is describing as a low-key comeback. "We were encouraged by his performances in Mesa and look forward to trying a 200 in Charlotte," Bowman said in a text message. Phelps has also put his name in for the final Grand Prix meet of the season in Santa Clara, California, next month, though he is taking the comeback one step at a time and not committing to any long-term goals. Still, its clear he wouldnt be putting in the work if the 2016 Olympics were not his primary focus. Phelps has already competed in four Summer Games, winning 18 golds and 22 medals overall. The Grand Prix schedule provides tuneups for the U.S. national championships in August, where spots will be earned for the Pan Pacific Championships later that month and next years world championships in Kazan, Russia -- an important steppingstone for the Olympics. After the Charlotte meet, Phelps will head to Colorado for high-altitude training beginning May 27. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Toronto Maple Leafs centre DaveBolland knows he could be traded by the NHLs March 5 trade deadline, but he isnt stressing over the possibility. Custom Mariners Jersey . "Whatever happens, happens," Bolland told TSNs Mark Masters on Monday. "If its staying here, its staying here. Thats my goal." Bolland was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks prior to this season for 51st and 117th overall picks in the 2013 NHL draft, as well as a fourth round pick in this years draft. Bolland, who is in the final year of a three-year contract, said hes not currently concerned with the status of his contract. "Contract will come. I could care less about the contract right now," Bolland added. The 27-year-old has not played since suffering a severed ankle tendon against the Vancouver Canucks in early November. However, Bolland is nearing a return and has been practicing in full with the Maple Leafs. In 15 games with the Leafs this season, Bolland has six goals and four assists. Taijuan Walker Authentic Jersey . Louis Cardinals have agreed on a four-year contract, giving the All-Star a fresh start after his Biogenesis drug suspension last summer. Robinson Cano Authentic Jersey .Y. -- Marcos Ambrose should be on pins and needles but says hes not. LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- JustinLeonard described his round Friday at Disney as a "fun, easy day," and it was every bit of that. He had a 9-under 63 for his lowest round of the year, putting him in a tie for the lead with HenrikStenson and BioKim at the Childrens Miracle Network Classic. It was only after his round that he felt as though he was on Thunder Mountain without ever leaving the golf course. Leonard is at No. 144 on the PGA Tour money list and not the least bit worried about keeping his card because he already is exempt through 2012. Because of a misprint in the media guide, reporters didnt understand how he was exempt, leading to confusion -- and a brief spell of panic for Leonard -- while tour officials researched the regulations to confirm the answer. By the time he headed for the Magic Kingdom for the parade with his four children, all was well. The leaders were at 12-under 132, two shots clear of NickOHern. GaryWoodland was in the group at 9-under 135. DavidHearn of Brantford, Ont., shot a 67 and was tied for 20th. Calgarys StephenAmes (71), MattMcQuillan (73) of Kingston, Ont., and ChrisBaryla (76) of Vernon, B.C., missed the cut. The money list is magic at Disney. WebbSimpson and LukeDonald are battling for the money title, and they both played the opening two rounds at 7-under 137, meaning they will be paired again Saturday. Simpson has a $363,029 lead, so the third round looms large for Donald. The stress is at the bottom. The players at Nos. 123, 124 and 125 -- D.J.Trahan, BobbyGates and JamesDriscoll -- all made the cut. Kim is at No. 168 and will have to finish no worse than second to avoid qualifying. Stenson, who had a 64 on the Palm Course, is at No. 180 but is exempt through 2014 from winning The Players Championship. Leonard also has no concern about next year. "I did call the tour a couple months ago and asked about my status. Im exempt for next year, so Im not playing with that kind of pressure," Leonard said in his press conference. "I dont know how, I just am. I gave the same look to the telephone. How is this guy still exempt?" It was a reasonable question, for his exempt status on his biography page showed him exempt through his position on the money list in 2010. In the exempt ranking at the front of the media guide, however, it shows him in the winners category. The answer took time. Andy Pazder, the chief of operations, was out of the state on business and did not have immediate access to the records. It required an official at Ponte Vedra Beach headquarters to go through each years regulations to provide the correct answer. That took time, and a tour official at Disney didnt want to keep Leonard waiting. He told him the staff was checking on it. "Are you going to eat?" media official Mark Stevens said to him. "I already ate," Leonard replied. "I think Im going to go throw up." As it turned out, Leonard had the correct information all along. His British Oppen win in 1997 came with a 10-year exemption. Justin Smoak Authentic Jersey. Starting in 2003, the tour began adding to the 10-year exemption with every win. Leonard won five times after 2003, thus he is exempt through 2012. Leonard is not exempt for the Tournament of Champions in Kapalua to start next year, and thats something he now has a chance to remedy at Disney. Over the last few months, he has gone to Morris Pickens to develop some practice strategies, and Dave Stockton Jr. for help getting back to his natural putting stroke. It has paid off so far at Disney, where he took advantage on the Palm for a bogey-free round of 63. Kim had a 65 on the tougher Magnolia Course, and his spot on the leaderboard was far more critical. "Im not afraid of Q-school, because Im only 21 and Ive got a lot of things to do and a lot of tournaments to do," Kim said. Far more fearful was undergoing heart surgery in his native South Korea while the FedEx Cup playoffs were going on. He previously had the surgery for an irregular heartbeat when he was 11, and knew he was having a problem when he nearly fainted at the Wyndham Championship in August. He was back to playing golf before long, and now is hopeful of a big week. Simpson had a bogey on the final hole at Magnolia for a 69, while Donald battled a sinus infection and a lack of energy on his way to a 71 as they at least stayed in the game. Their battle was summed up on the 12th hole, when Donald stuffed his tee shot into two feet, and Simpson followed with a shot into three feet. Both made birdie. "I think both of us are in the same mindset and trying to win the golf tournament," Simpson said. "We want to beat not only each other, but we want to beat the field. I feel thats just natural as competitors. Hes got a little further to go. All it takes is a good weekend, and he would be right there." Donald can finish no worse than a two-way tie for second, provided Simpson finishes down the leaderboard. Its a tall order for Donald, the No. 1 player in the world. "Im going to need to go low on the weekend," Donald said. That wont be the case for a pair of British Open champions, DavidDuval and BenCurtis, who both missed the cut. Duval was outside the top 150 on the money list, meaning he would have to go through two stages of Q-school to get his card back. Having gone through Q-school last year, the former world No. 1 is likely to take a year relying on sponsor exemptions and his status as a past champion. Curtis was at No. 149 and likely to fall out of the top 150. Curtis still has the option of playing the European Tour, where he is exempt, while also playing the PGA Tour. Meanwhile, four players from the Champions Tour all made the cut. MichaelAllen, whose only win was the Senior PGA Championship two years ago, had a 66 and was in the group at 9-under 135. Others playing the weekend are MarkCalcavecchia, Tom Pernice Jr. and TomLehman. Leonard (63) and Stenson (64) played on the easier Palm course, while Kim had a 65 on the Magnolia. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

The Chicago Blackhawks locked down the Wild, to go up 2-0 in their series, and the Pittsburgh Penguins controlled play against the New York Rangers, evening their series at one game apiece. Yordano Ventura Royals Jersey . Notes on BryanBickell, BrandonSaad, MattMoulson, KrisLetang, Marc-AndreFleury and more. BLACKHAWKS LOCK DOWN WILD The Chicago Blackhawks stifled the Minnesota Wild on the way to a 4-1 win in Game Two, taking a 2-0 series lead. LW BryanBickell picked up a goal and two assists to lead the Blackhawks attack and RW MarianHossa had three assists. LW BrandonSaad also had a pair of goals for the Blackhawks and the performance of supporting cast wingers like Bickell and Saad reminded me of the recent article in the Chicago Sun-Times by Mark Lazerus, about Chicagos use of analytics. The article, without getting into specifics, discusses how the Blackhawks use all kinds of data in their player evaluation and one of the easiest ways to dismiss Chicagos use of analytics is that, hey, they have PatrickKane and JonathanToews -- its not analytics that make them a good team. Of course elite players matter more than a teams analytical approach, and Toews and Kane are great, but they are just two players. The rest of the roster still needs to be filled out and, for Chicago, that includes big-bodied wingers like Saad and Bickell. Bickell, who was a playoff hero last season, scoring nine goals and 17 points in 23 games as the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, finished the 2013-2014 regular season with 11 goals and 15 points in 59 games, so expectations were relatively low coming into this postseason. However, digging a little deeper into the numbers, we see that Bickell had a 58.0% Corsi during the regular season (second among Blackhawks forwards, behind JonathanToews) and was among the unluckiest forwards in the league with a 95.6% PDO (on-ice shooting plus save percentage); these underlying statistics suggested that Bickell might be due for better results and, with five goals and eight points in this years playoffs, hes getting better results. Before scoring two goals, including an empty-netter, Sunday, Saad had one goal in 32 career playoff games. The 21-year-old is also a strong possession player, and has seven points (2 G, 5 A) in eight playoff games this year. For a team that has Toews, Kane, Hossa and PatrickSharp, getting big production out of Bickell and Saad is just about unfair. A little more on the Blackhawks forward lines: with AndrewShaw hurt and BrandonBollig scratched, the Blackhawks returned KrisVersteeg and JeremyMorin to the lineup. BenSmith had a rough game, in terms of puck possession, on for 29.4% (10 for, 24 against) of the 5-on-5 shot attempts when he was on the ice. The Blackhawks, without Smith on the ice, were getting 62.0% (31 for, 19 against) of the 5-on-5 shot attempts. With JonathanToews on the ice, the Blackhawks had 73.7% (14 for, five against) of the 5-on-5 shot attempts. With Toews off the ice, the Blackhawks had only 41.5% of the shot attempts, though there were obviously some score effects at play, since Chicago dominated possession in score close situations. The Wild have been having trouble generating offence against Chicago. Blackhawks G CoreyCrawford stopped 18 of Minnesotas 19 shots Sunday, and hes stopped 48 of 51 (.941 SV%) in the first two games of this series. One of the more notable problem areas in the lineup for the Wild is LW MattMoulson, who has one goal (on 20 shots) and one assist in nine playoff games and has, effectively, been taken out of an offensive role. No Wild player had a lower percentage of offensive zone starts in Game Two, but this one example stands in contrast to the Blackhawks forward depth. This wasnt expected to be a particularly close series and, through two games, the Blackhawks are living up to their favoured status. The Wild will have to find a way, perhaps with better matchups at home, to get more chances or else this could be short work for Chicago. PENGUINS BLANK RANGERS The Pittsburgh Penguins dominated play against the New York Rangers in Game Two, winning 3-0 and evening the series at one game apiece. Penguins G Marc-AndreFleury stopped all 22 shots he faced, and that gives him a .914 save percentage (224 saves on 245 shots) in the playoffs -- his highest playoff save percentage since 2007-2008. D KrisLetang had an outstanding game for the Penguins, with a goal and two assists, while playing 25:35; a bit of a break through for an offensive defenceman who had one point in the previous seven playoff games. Penguins C SidneyCrosby didnt record a point, but was on top of his game, generating a game-high 10 shot attempts and on the ice for 74.1% (20 for, seven against) of 5-on-5 shot attempts. MarcelGoc was the possession ace for Pittsburgh in Game Two, on for 12 shot attempts for and just two against (85.7%). The only Rangers line to finish on the right side of the possession ledger -- and just barely (10 for, nine against) -- was the trio of BradRichards, CarlHagelin and DanielCarcillo. On the other hand, the line of MatsZuccarello, DerickBrassard and BenoitPouliot was on for less than 15% of 5-on-5 shot attempts, while D RyanMcDonagh was on the ice for four attempts for and 19 against (17.4%). The Rangers have played four games in the past six days and looked fatigued in Game Two. With Game Three going Monday night, there isnt much time for rest, but they will need to use whatever they can on home ice to tilt the ice back in their favour. The way Game Two played out, the Penguins controlled play even more decisively than the final score indicated and the Rangers could fall behind in this series while they struggle with a more condensed schedule than their opponents. The 32-year-old Italian squandered a match point before losing the second set, but was in control in the third to pick up the win in the ATP 250 tournament in South Americas biggest city. There is something singularly fascinating and unsettling about hockey fighters. And DarrenKramer is no exception. The man who had more hockey fights than anyone on Earth last season comes across as a polite, articulate teenager with a youthful look in his eye and yet still somehow mature for his age.Hes had the same girlfriend since he was 14 years old, is adored by his mother and father, his teammates and his coaches. His current one, Don Nachbaur of the Spokane Chiefs, calls him a role model. Last season, DarrenKramer dropped the gloves 47 times for the Chiefs in the Western Hockey League (46 regular season, one playoffs), more than 50 if you count his handful of fights in the Alberta Junior league before his call to Spokane. Hes managed to go from being a scrappy player in a Tier II junior league to an Ottawa Senators draft pick in the span of about nine months. Kramer says he loves the adrenaline that comes with a hockey fight, the roar of the crowd, the rush he gives his teammates by going a round with an opponent - be it right off the faceoff or in the heat of battle. To put his 46 regular season fights in perspective, consider that its 19 more than anyone in the NHL had last season, five short of the most anyone in junior hockey has ever had, and is twice as many as any other player in the WHL had last season. By comparison, no NHL player has had 40 in a season. Ever."Its amazing as a raw quantity," says David Singer, who operates the popular website hockeyfights.com. "He is a kid who was clearly looking for scouts to notice what he is willing to bring to a team. A lot of guys bring that for a while but they fade out. But he just kept bringing the same thing night after night." Kramers fight card seems more than a little incongruous when you listen to his parents Hans and Hanna describe 19-year-old Darren as the perfect son - the kid who loves hockey like nothing else, who will stop at nothing to keep his dream alive, but has never been in a fight outside of an arena. Its then that you start to understand that while DarrenKramers story is all about fighting, it also has very little to do with fighting, or violence, or wanting to hurt another human being. Fighting to DarrenKramer is simply a tool, the thing he decided he must use to buy the time necessary to keep his hockey dream alive. If he was a baseball player, he might try to steal 100 bases. If he played basketball, hed probably try to master the art of three-point shooting. And if he played football, he might be a kicker, or a punter or a practice long snapping 500 times a day. Its anything to get noticed - to set him apart. Salvador Perez Royals Jersey. Find a job that not everyone is willing to do and do it better - or at least more willingly - than anyone else. Its no coincidence that DarrenKramer is also hobby inventor. He will happily describe his patent for a peanut butter jar that allows you to get to the bottom of the jar without messing up your hands, and has several other ideas in the works. And so when Kramer needed a way to prolong his hockey career as he moved into his mid-teens, he decided to reinvent himself, as a hockey fighter. He accepted the risks that many would not. Its not unlike the way race car drivers, or ski jumpers or any of those in a host of professions accept significant physical risk as part of the deal. How great those risks exactly are is the starting point of an emotional debate in hockey these days. We know that getting punched in the head can lead to concussions and brain damage, and we know that hockey fighters are prone to bare fists landing on skulls. We know that at least some former hockey fighters claim they developed anxiety rationalizing who they had to be on the ice with who they truly were off of it. We know there have been fighters whove had long careers and happy lives after hockey. And weve known some whove met tragic consequences and left behind some troubling unanswered questions. DarrenKramer knows all of that, has mulled it over, and then put it to the back of his mind, without dismissing it altogether. He wants to be a hockey player not a fighter. But that will depend on whether he can develop those other aspects of his game - his skating, his scoring touch, and whether he can prove hes hard to play against even when the gloves are on. Kramer is the Chiefs captain this season with five goals in five games - almost as many as he had all of last season. After youve met him, you want to root for him. To one day be able to say you, knew him when. And you try not to think about the potential impact of all those fights. But you also fear for him. You worry about the potential toll on his body and soul, and that it isnt always going to be so easy for him to separate his on and off-ice personas.Using fighting to get to where you want to go in hockey is tough. Transforming yourself into a different kind of player, one wholl be known for more than a mind-boggling fight card, is even tougher. And no matter how often you tell yourself that DarrenKramer isnt a street fighter, that this simply part of the game of hockey, you also know the consequences can be very real. Fascinating. Unsettling. Indeed. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

TORONTO - Georges St-Pierre is picking Johny (Bigg Rigg) Hendricks to succeed him as UFC welterweight champion. nfl jerseys china . Hendricks, who lost a controversial split decision to St-Pierre at UFC 167 last November, fights again for the 170-pound crownon Saturday when he faces veteran (Ruthless) Robbie Lawler at UFC 171. The 32-year-old St-Pierre vacated the title in December, saying he needed time away from the sport. St-Pierre has been making the most of his time off, travelling and speaking his mind about what he believes needs to be fixed in the world of mixed martial arts. But he remains close to the sport and says he will be watching the UFC 171 main event in Dallas. "Its a fight where anything can happen," St-Pierre told The Canadian Press. "Both guys can put each other to sleep. They have a lot of power in striking, but I believe Hendricks has the edge in this fight because I believe he will come more well-prepared with his team and hes got an edge in the grappling department." Hendricks (15-2) is a former two-time NCAA wrestling champion. St-Pierre (25-2) left a 12-fight winning streak and a string of UFC records behind him. But he says it wont be strange seeing someone else have his belt strapped around their waist. "No, because it was my choice to give away the title. It was my choice so I dont regret anything. I feel very good and Im happy that I did it. I feel better now." St-Pierre, who had held the UFC title since regaining it from Matt (The Terror) Serra at UFC 83 in April 2008, says the outcome of the fight will not affect whether he returns to the sport. "I dont plan on coming back right now," he said. "First if I come back, it will be when I want. I have a lot of things to do. And also a couple things need to change if I come back. ... Whoever wins, I dont care. I just watch it as a fan." Since leaving the sport, St-Pierre has spoken out about the need to have more stringent drug testing. The Montreal fighter who was the UFCs biggest pay-per-view draw has also complained about the UFC having a monopoly. Hendricks has said he sees Lawler (22-9 with one no contest) as a more dangerous opponent that St-Pierre. "Robbie, if you make a mistake, weve seen it time and time again that he can knock you out." The 30-year-old Hendricks is the top-ranked contender in the 170-pound division while Lawler is No. 3. No. 2 Carlos (The Natural Born Killer) Condit, who lost to St-Pierre in a UFC 154 title shot and was beaten by Hendricks at UFC 158, takes on No. 11 Tyron Woodley (12-2) in the UFC 171 co-main event. Condit (29-7) says he has been told a win will earn him another title shot. KANSAS CITY, Mo. Ron Santo Authentic Jersey . -- JamesLoney delivered the clutch hit for Tampa Bay after ChrisArcher kept Kansas City from getting one. Loney hit an RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning to lift the Rays over the Royals 1-0 on Tuesday night following an impressive pitchers duel between top young arms. Archer wriggled out of two bases-loaded jams and went seven innings. Royals rookie YordanoVentura dazzled in his season debut, holding Tampa Bay to two hits in six innings. "I saw some really good pitching on the other side," Kansas City manager Ned Yost said. "Archer was on top of his game. This guy had a big league two-seamer, 92-95 mph, throwing strikes with it, real efficient with his two-seamer and his slider. He had some nasty stuff working." Loneys grounder to right scored WilMyers, who snapped an 0-for-15 slump when he reached on an infield single to start the ninth. Myers advanced on a two-out wild pitch by GregHolland (0-1). "Loney is a very calm guy," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "He does not get excited and I appreciate that about him." Loneys grounder got past a diving DannyValencia at second base. "I wanted to hit it hard," Loney said. "You always want to hit it hard and hopefully not at somebody." Holland said he would have liked to have that last pitch to Loney back. "With first base open and essentially the winning run on second, Ive got to get that ball down a little more," Holland said. "Ive got to be smarter than that. In that mindset, I didnt execute the pitch and it cost us the game." JoelPeralta (1-1) struck out Valencia with the bases loaded, and GrantBalfour worked the ninth for his second save. Ventura walked none and struck out six, including Myers three times. "Ventura was really throwing good fastballs, triple digits at times," Yost said. "He threw some good breaking balls, but really had a good changeup working to keep them off balance. He matched up against a good pitcher and came out with nothing to show for it." Venturas initial scheduled start in Detroit was rained out, so he was making his first appearance since March 29 in spring training. "Its a lot of time between pitching," Ventura said. "Its my job. No matter how many days off, you have to do your job. I was just glad I was able to do my job today. Im used to pitching every five days. Thats what I want. It was a little tough." Archer pitched out of bases-loaded, one-out jams in the third and sixth. He induced EricHosmer to ground into a double play to end the third. In the sixth, Archer retired AlexGordon on an infield popup and Valencia on a grounder to leave the bases full. "I had confidence," Archer said. "I didnt at any point think I was going to fail. The way we were playing D I felt like we were going to get it done." The Royals loaded the bases again in the eighth against JakeMcGee and Peralta, but Valencia looked at three straight strikes from Peralta to end the inning. MikeMoustakas, hitless in his first 21 at-bats this season, opened the Royals ninth with a single to centre but went no further. Tampa Bay missed an opportunity in the eighth when Royals reliever WadeDavis walked MattJoyce and plunked pinch-hitter LoganForsythe with a pitch. Davis recovered to strike out YunelEscobar and DavidDeJesus. NOTES: The Rays placed LHP MattMoore on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow injury. The 25-year-old rookie forward scored the winner on his first career shootout attempt as the Philadelphia Flyers overcame an early deficit to earn a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. "I didnt really expect to be sent out there," Raffl said. "I was ready to hold my helmet and then I heard that I was going third and I was like nice. I really enjoyed it. "It was nice to get the chance and it going in made it even nicer. Its always nice to score a goal, and to have it be the winner was even better" WayneSimmonds had a pair of goals and ScottHartnell also scored for the Flyers (18-16-4), who have won four out of their last five games and snapped a five-game losing streak on the road as they started a six-game trip in Edmonton. "Weve been struggling on the road, so to start off this long road trip with a pretty solid victory is very nice," said Flyers goalie SteveMason, who was only called upon to face 16 shots. "We just need to carry it through to our next game and keep building on this." It was the third consecutive two-goal game for Simmonds, who has seven goals in his last five outings. He was the first Flyer to have three straight multiple-goal games since Reggie Leach in 1981. "Obviously it has been a good stretch for me," Simmonds said. "Its been even better that the team has been starting to win and piling up the two points most nights. It feels good. Ive just been getting the bounces." TaylorHall, RyanNugent-Hopkins and DavidPerron responded for the Oilers (13-24-4), who had a two-game winning streak end and have lost seven of their last nine. "It wasnt our best game thats for sure, but sometimes you have to take a look at what youve done," Hall said. "A back-to-back after a three-day break isnt necessarily the easiest thing to do. Thats not really an excuse, but when you look back at the schedule sometimes theres reasons for why you dont do well. When we have a schedule like that, we have to keep it as simple as possible and make sure were not playing a mistake-filled game." It was the first game Edmonton goalie IlyaBryzgalov had played against his old Flyers teammates since Philadelphia bought him and his hefty long-term contract out during the summer. "I know theyre not going to quit," the goalie said of his Flyer foes. "I knew what was coming, I knew they were going to play hard and they were going to get lots of pucks to the net. Thats the style they play, aggressive. "Playing back to back nights after three days off, its not easy. I think we battled through and tried our best. Its great to get the point. Edmonton got off to a very quick start to the game, scoring on its first shot just 32 seconds in. Hall picked the pocket of Flyers defenceman BraydonnCoburn deep in the Philadelphia zone and beat Mason with a quick wrist shot high to the glove side for his 15th goal of the season. Anthony Rizzo Authentic Jersey. The Oilers made it 2-0 four minutes into the first period as Nugent-Hopkins made a nice move at the blue-line to give himself some space and beat Mason with a shot from the slot. A couple of Oilers hit milestones with assists on the goal, as Hall recorded his 100th NHL assist and captain AndrewFerence his 200th point. The Flyers started to pick it up for the remainder of the period, but could get any of their 11 shots past Bryzgalov in the Edmonton net. Bryzgalov came up huge to start the second period as he stopped SeanCouturier on a pair of short-handed opportunities in tight, including one on a diving stick save. The Oilers have allowed a league-high eight short-handed goals this season. The Flyers got on the board three-and-a-half minutes into the second period on a power play of their own as Simmonds was able to tip in a blast from the top of the circle by ClaudeGiroux, who extended his point streak to eight games. Philadelphia tied the game 2-2 with eight minutes to play in the second on another power-play goal as a pretty tic-tac-toe passing display had Bryzgalov spinning around in his net before Simmonds was able to put his second of the game into a wide-open cage. Edmonton was out-shot 14-3 in the second period. The Oilers came close to regaining the lead six minutes into the third on a power play but SamGagner hit the crossbar and JeffPetry a post with the man advantage. Edmonton did strike for a goal on their next power play with eight minutes remaining in the third, however, as Perron banked a short from the side of the net off Flyers defender Niklas Grossmann and into the net for his team-leading 16th of the season and 100th career NHL goal. Philadelphia came right back to tie the game 3-3 with five-and-a-half minutes left with their third power play goal as Hartnell tipped a KimmoTimonen shot past a frustrated Bryzgalov on a five-on-three opportunity. Mason was able to keep it a tied game with two minutes left as he stoned Perron with a pivotal glove save on a breakaway with two minutes remaining to send the game to extra time. The shots favoured the Flyers 36-15 after the third period. Notes: It was the second and final meeting between the two teams this season, with the Flyers winning the first game 4-2 in Philadelphia on Nov. 9. The Flyers came into the game without a win in Edmonton since March 19, 2001a Oilers defenceman CoreyPotter missed the game with a groin strain. Recent AHL call-up MartinMarincin drew in as his replacementa Flyers winger SteveDownie returned from an upper body injury and fellow forward AdamHall was also able to dress after missing practice on Friday with the flu. Defenceman Eric Gustafsson remained out with a knee injury. cheap jerseys from chinacheap jerseys ' ' ' |

WASHINGTON -- Atlanta Braves left fielder JustinUpton saw the baseball nestle underneath some green wall padding and initially, instead of trying to make a play, threw his arms up and waited for a call from the umpires. jersyes nfl wholesale . All the while, Washingtons IanDesmond kept running, making it all the way around the bases for an inside-the-park homer, apparently tying the game in the fifth inning. Hold on, though. This is a new era in the majors, where all sorts of plays can be reviewed and changed. So Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez challenged the non-call, and Desmonds home run was switched to a ground-rule double after a five-minute delay. Desmond then got caught stealing, capping a significant sequence Friday in Atlantas 2-1 victory over Washington. "These umpires, theyre good enough," Upton said. "But sometimes they need a little bit of help." The result spoiled the Nationals home opener and gave rookie manager Matt Williams his first loss following a 3-0 start. Williams did not agree with the way the review went, pointing out that Upton did eventually grab the ball and heave it toward the infield. "One of the reasons we have replay is to make sure that we get the calls right. I have a question with that one, though, because of what happened after the fact," Williams said. "The fact that when he had to, he reached down and threw it in." Upton said he paused while hoping for an umpire to say the play was dead, but eventually did go get the baseball because shortstop AndreltonSimmons "was panicking, telling me to throw the ball." Added Upton: "I made the play a little more confusing than it should have been." Some in the sellout crowd of 42,834 chanted "Home run! Home run!" during the review delay. And after the homer was overturned, fans booed Upton whenever he was involved in the action, whether he was catching a flyout or stepping into the batters box. Desmond, meanwhile, was determined to run until someone told him to stop. "With the replay stuff the way it is now, not going to leave anything to doubt," he said. As for this seasons expanded replay, Desmond said: "Everyones trying to figure it out." Desmond chided himself more for the subsequent running gaffe. It was one of a series of problems for Washington on the basepaths: BryceHarper got caught because of a pitchout on a steal attempt, and AdamLaRoche was thrown out at the plate by Simmons on a relay. "We need to put pressure on the other team, as long as its intelligent," Washingtons RyanZimmerman said. "You dont want to run into outs." Washington did eventually even the score, but Atlantas ChrisJohnson delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth off reliever TylerClippard (0-1). LuisAvilan (1-0) got one out in the seventh for the win, and CraigKimbrel earned his third save with a 1-2-3 ninth. In the eighth, Atlantas fourth reliever, DavidCarpenter, put two runners on with no outs. But he came back to strike out Washingtons 4-5-6 hitters, LaRoche, Zimmerman and Harper. "We had him where wanted him ... and just couldnt get the hit when we needed to," Zimmerman said. Atlantas first run came on EvanGattis homer leading off the fifth against Nationals starter JordanZimmermann, who was scratched Thursday because of a fever and upset stomach. A 19-game winner last year, Zimmermann allowed one run and four hits in five innings while striking out nine. Atlanta right-hander DavidHale threw five scoreless innings in his third career start. In 2013, Atlanta went 13-6 against Washington in 2013 en route to replacing the Nationals as NL East champions. "Last year is last year. You get a nice pat on the back and its over with," Gonzalez said. "We play them six series. Every series is important. It doesnt matter if you play them in April of September." NOTES: Washingtons pitchers struck out 14, giving them 53 Ks, two more than the previous high for a seasons first four games, according to STATS. ... Marcel Kittel, the German with a French first name, led a bunch sprint to win Mondays Stage 3 with a finish on the doorstep of Queen Elizabeths Buckingham Palace. Two days earlier, he courted royal attention as Prince William and Kate saw him win Stage 1 in Yorkshire in another sprint. The stage wrapped up the English debut to this 101st Tour edition, a rousing success among cycling-crazed British fans. Riders hopped on planes and bid "au revoir" to the UK before flying across the English Channel onto the races home turf. Rain in the City of London doused riders at the end of the 155-kilometre (96-mile) ride from the university town of Cambridge to a dramatic finish past landmarks Big Ben and Westminster. Italys Vincenzo Nibali retained the overall leaders yellow jersey with a 2-second lead over the most likely contenders to win the three-week race in Paris on July 27. Svein Tuft was the top Canadian in 138th place, 16 minutes 13 seconds off the lead. Christian Meier, also from Langley, B.C., was 17:31 back in 154th. Kittel, led out perfectly by Giant-Shimano teammates, made it look easy as he sped down a final wide approach on The Mall with Buckingham Palace behind him. Peter Sagan of Slovakia was second and Australias Mark Renshaw was third. "Im really, really happy I could win in front of Buckingham Palace," said Kittel, who won four Tour stages last year. "It was one of the greatest finishes Ive ever seen in front of this great scenery." FIRST PARIS, NOW LONDON The hulking German made it a tale of two cities. He added London glory to his record after also winning on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, in the Tour finale last year. His job in the sprints got a lot easier after Britains Mark Cavendish pulled out of the race after injuring his shoulder in a crash in Saturdays Stage 1. "Its one big opponent that is not in the race anymore," Kittel said. "Of course, that changes things for me, but also for the team." Kittel is no threat for the yellow jersey. Like many sprinters, he struggles on climbs and fell nearly 20 minutes behind Nibali in the overall standings in an up-and-down ride on Sunday through the hills and dales of Yorkshire. Nibalis biggest challengers for the prized leaders shirt remain title-holder Chris Froome of Britain and Spains Alberto Contador, who finisheed with the same time as the Italian and Kittel in an 84-rider bunch. wholesale nfl jerseys. . On Monday, the pack cruised nervously and let two breakaway riders go free on Monday. The duo was caught with about 6 kilometres (4 miles) left. EUROPEAN UNITY AMONG FANS? Tour officials estimated fans made nearly 5 million individual visits -- some may have attended more than one stage -- to the route in the first three stages. In signs of cross-Channel comity, Tour chief Christian Prudhomme took English lessons before the race; Britons waved both French tricolours and their beloved Union Jacks. But the teeming curbs, sidewalks and roadsides again caused trouble for the riders. With about 30 kilometres (19 miles) left, 2010 Tour winner Andy Schleck of Luxembourg was among riders who crashed briefly, and French TV showed a fan on the ground. Schleck, who gingerly returned to the race, said he didnt hit a spectator. "I guess it was my own fault," said Schleck, who collided with another rider and hurtled over his handlebars. His Trek Factory Racing teammate Jens Voigt said: "I saw about 15 crashes today. In the end there were two guys on the ground but I dont know what happened exactly ... Thats the Tour de France. The first week is always nervous." In other spills, Ted King of Cannondale and Jan Bakelants, a Belgian rider on Cavendishs Omega Pharma QuickStep team who wore yellow jersey two days last year, each scraped up their right elbows and knees. Some fans got political. A few held up placards imploring Prime Minister David Cameron not to back a U.S.-European Union free trade pact. Three topless protesters bearing slogans condemning female genital mutilation staged a brief protest near the Houses of Parliament before police bundled them away in fluorescent vests. The course route Monday notably bypassed Trafalgar Square, whose landmark Nelsons Column commemorates a British hero of the Napoleonic Wars. Stage 4 takes riders over 163.5 kilometres (105 miles) from Le Touquet-Paris Plage to Lille Metropole on the border with Belgium. Froomes Team Sky floated the idea that the pack might well ride under the sea rather than fly over it one day, if the Tour ever returns to the UK. The team released a glitzy video Monday saying that last month he became the first man to cycle through the Channel tunnel. In the video, Froome quipped: "This could be a really, really cool stage of a race." cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

If battling back is a sign of a team that knows how to win, the Winnipeg Goldeyes presented a strong case Wednesday night. Luke Kuechly Jersey . The Goldeyes came back from two deficits to beat the Kansas City T-Bones 7-5 before 6,523 joyous fans at Shaw Park. The win moves Winnipeg 6 1/2 games ahead of the St. Paul Saints in the American Associations North Division and extends the Goldeyes winning streak to a season-high seven games. These guys never give up, Goldeyes outfielder Reggie Abercrombie said of his teammates, who despite the win stranded a season-high 13 runners on the base paths. Every time you go out there, you expect to be in the game. After Winnipeg opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning on a Kansas City error, the T-Bones struck for four runs against Goldeyes starter Chris Salamida in the top of the third. The T-Bones batted around in the inning and had five hits. The Goldeyes dug into the deficit with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, as Casey Haerther, who doubled to lead off the inning, scored on a sac fly and Luis Alen drove in Abercrombie with a single. Winnipeg tied the game an inning later when Ray Sadlers sac fly brought home Josh Mazzola. The T-Bones quickly regained the lead with a run in the top of the seventh, but the Goldeyes didnt stay behind for long. With runners on second and third and two out in the bottom half of the seventh, Tyler Kuhn ripped a shot down the first base line to score Abercrombie and Brock Bond, who reached base on an infield single. I got a slider down and in and was able to get it up high enough to get it over the first basemans glove, Kuhn said of his game-winning hit. I dont turn on too many balls down the line, so I was happy to get that one. Mazzola then doubled to score Kuhn. The pitching held us in the game, Abercrombie said. We feel if the pitching holds us in the game, were going to come back on anyone. We have a lot of confidence in ourselves to go out and get it done. Haerther led Winnipeg with three hits, while Kuhn had two RBI. Buried in the comeback was Salamidas record-setting night. He stuck out the first two batters he faced in the top of the first to pass Ace Walker for the franchise strikeout record. Salamida struck out six T-Bones in six innings of work and now has 385 Ks as a member of the Goldeyes in five seasons with the team. Gabe Aguilar, who gave up Kansas Citys go-ahead run in the seventh inning, swooped in to vultur his fifth win of the season. Chris Kissock pitched the top of the ninth for his 10th save of the season. Jared Messer took the loss for Kansas City. The Goldeyes will go for the sweep Thursday night at Shaw Park. Nick Hernandez (4-0, 3.56) will toe the rubber for Winnipeg against Kansas Citys Kyle DeVore (2-1, 2.29). The Lions traded their fifth overall pick in the 2014 CFL Draft to the Ottawa Redblacks for QB Kevin Glenn. WILMINGTON, Del. -- A judge said Thursday that he would overrule an objection by Fox Sports and approve a process for the Los Angeles Dodgers to sell the media rights to future games as part of the teams plan to exit bankruptcy. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin Gross said at the end of a two-day hearing that he would approve the Dodgers plan to sell media rights to games starting in 2014, a key component of a settlement with Major League Baseball that also calls for Dodgers owner Frank McCourt to sell the team. "I just think its in the debtors best interests," said Gross, who told attorneys he would issue a formal written ruling in a few days. Fox Sports attorney Greg Werkheiser asked Gross to stay his ruling for 14 days so Fox can file an appeal in U.S. District Court. Gross did not immediately grant the request but noted that he always includes a "courtesy stay" in his rulings. He did not offer any other details. Under the proposed sale process, the Dodgers would receive initial bids by Jan. 13 and complete the sale by April 30. Fox Sports objected to the proposed sale, saying it would violate its rights under an existing contract with the Dodgers. That contract gives Fox certain protections, including an exclusive 45-day period starting in October 2012 to negotiate a contract extension with the Dodgers. The Dodgers want to move up the timetable for Foxs exclusive negotiating period, saying a media rights sale now in conjunction with a sale of the team is the best way to maximize value for creditors and emerge from bankruptcy. Gross appeared to agree with the Dodgers that Fox would maintain many of the same rights under the proposed sale process as it has under its existing contract, including the exclusive negotiating period. "I am satisfied that the proposed modifications are non-material, and that to me is the key," the judge said. The Dodgers contend that because of discussions with Fox during the bankruptcy, the 45-day negotiating period started Nov. 30, meaning Fox has less than six weeks to try to renegotiate its contract with the Dodgers. Werkheiser asked Gross to halt the time clock on the negotiating period until he issues a formal ruling, but the judge was noncommittal. Dodgers attorney Bruce Bennett also seemed disinclined to go along with the request. "Were talking about burning up a couple of days," said Bennett, who told Gross he would talk to Fox attorneys and let the judge know by Friday whether the two sides can agree on how much time is left for the negotiations. Under the proposed sale process, any buyer of the Dodgers would have the ability to accept or reject any media rights deal reached between Fox and the Dodgers existing management. In testimony earlier Thursday, Robert Thompson, a former Fox Sports executive now working as a consultant for Fox, said the company has a much greater likelihood of successfully extending its ccontract with the Dodgers under the existing agreement than under the bankruptcy sale process. Jason Avant Jersey. He also said the loss of the Dodgers could spell the end of Foxs Prime Ticket regional sports network, which he said will earn about $70 million for the current fiscal year, thanks in large part to the Dodgers. "Theres no single other sports team that I would say creates as much value that allows Prime Ticket to make those profits as the Dodgers do," Thompson said. Sports media expert Edwin Desser, also testifying for Fox, said the sale of media rights could put Fox at an unfair disadvantage to other potential buyers such as Time Warner by allowing other bidders to see details of Foxs discussions with the Dodgers during the exclusive negotiating period. "It really eviscerates the exclusivity and confidentiality of those negotiations," said Desser, a former executive vice-president for the NBA and chief negotiator of the basketball leagues national media agreements. Desser said he expects Time Warner to "bid vigorously" for the rights to Dodgers games starting in 2014. "I expect that Time Warner is going to be very interested, and Fox is well aware of that," said Desser, who estimated the fair market value of the television rights to be at least $100 million a year. The Dodgers sought bankruptcy protection in June after baseball Commissioner Bud Selig rejected a new TV deal with Fox that Frank McCourt was counting on to keep the franchise solvent. The Dodgers subsequently argued in bankruptcy court that auctioning off the television rights to future games was the best way to maximize the value of the bankruptcy estate for the benefit of all stakeholders. The league joined Fox in opposing such as sale, saying any plan to sell television rights without MLB approval was "dead on arrival" and would spell the end of the club. League attorneys argued that such a sale would breach the Dodgers existing contract with Fox and provide grounds for termination of the franchise for failure to abide by MLB agreements. But after battling with the Dodgers over control of the ball club and seeking to force McCourt to sell the team, MLB reached a settlement last month with the help of a court-appointed mediator. The settlement calls for the sale of the team, the future media rights and Dodger Stadium, but not the parking lots and land surrounding the stadium, which are owned by a separate company that is controlled by McCourt and not involved in the bankruptcy. The settlement between the Dodgers and MLB gives McCourt sole discretion to sell the parking lots and land surrounding the stadium. While decrying the secrecy surrounding the settlement, Fox attorneys have questioned the proposed sale deadline of April 30, which also happens to be the deadline for McCourt to pay his ex-wife, Jamie, $131 million as part of their divorce settlement. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

TORONTO - When Patrick Chan was feeling the pressure before making his Olympic debut, he reached out to a Canadian athlete who was shouldering perhaps the greatest pressure of all. Mithch Moreland Jersey . Chans drive to the rink four years ago in Vancouver included a phone call to Sidney Crosby. The two share a common trainer in Andy OBrien, who was in the car with Chan that day. "I told Andy I was nervous, who wouldnt be, I was really nervous about the event. Andy was like Oh Ill call Sid," said Chan, who opens his season next week at Skate Canada International. "We talked about expectations and at the end of the day, he told me Yeah, the Canadian hockey team has the most pressure out of all the events. The way he put it in perspective was that we train every day and we train every day to kind of build an automatic pilot, and in order to initiate that automatic pilot when youre playing, you have to put it in perspective. "For example, my mentality is that this isnt the end of the world, people will support me because they want me to win, and they want the best for me and they want a medal for Canada, and I accept that. But then I have to be selfish in a way and realize Im doing it for myself and that was the mistake I made in Vancouver. I wanted to win the medal for Canada, and I looked at it as a big picture instead of narrowing it down to me wanting to be there, and me wanting to compete and excited to compete, and eager to win a medal." Chan, who was 19 in Vancouver, went on to finish fifth in his first Olympics, while Crosby, of course, scored the winning goal in Canadas thrilling victory over the U.S. for gold. Four years later, the pressures have changed for Chan, who talked about his preparations for Sochi in a wide-ranging conference call Tuesday that touched on everything from the gay rights controversy in Russia to his move to Detroit. Chan, who spoken about Russias controversial gay laws before saying he plans to focus on skating, said Tuesday he believes that "everyone deserves a fair chance." "I always believed, it doesnt matter what colour, what race, what gender, or whats your opinion on gays, it doesnt matter as long as you have the talent and you work hard and you have something to show and something to prove, anyone deserves to be on the field, and especially in the Olympic Games," Chan said. "Thats my opinion. Figure skating, were full of gays, and I train with a lot of gay skaters, and some of them are my best friends, and honestly it doesnt bother me. I just honestly believe everyone deserves to be on the ice to compete." The Toronto skater said hell be fending off a different kind of pressure in Sochi, where hell come in as a three-time defending world champion. "Vancouver was a pressure because it was a thought of winning a gold medal at home, I put that pressure on myself, like Oh my god the dream of all dreams would be to win and Olympic gold medal in your home country and hearing your anthem in Canada. "Sochi is different. . . coming in as three-time world champion, you put expectations on yourself, theres a lot of talk. Is this the year that hes not going to put it together, and hes going to be dethroned? I think I have many more tools going into Sochi to overcome those pressures." Chan, who will be 23 in Sochi his birthday is New Years Eve has learned to shift his priorities. Hes figured out how to narrow his focus, which goes back to Crosbys call in the car ride to the rink. "If you look at the Olympics as a mountain, its like Mount Everest, its impossible. You already start beating yourself up, just like my long program. My long program is my nemesis because I look at it as a huge mountain I have to climb thats going to kill me and Im going to be out of breath and exhausted at the end. "But it doesnt seem so bad if I cut it down into portions. For Mount Everest I would focus on reaching the first base camp, then reaching the second base camp, then reaching the third, then you can get to the top. You have to look at it in stages and not try to sprint to the top." Chan said hes a much happier skater than hes been in a while, and credits his move to Detroit. Chan pulled up stakes in Colorado Springs and drove to Detroit a couple of weeks before last springs world championships. He made the move, he said, to reinvigorate his career after his motivation had seeped out of him in Colorado. Detroit has become his "comfort zone" in the months since. "Its funny, the rink in Colorado was full, like 25 people on the ice, which is insane, and that was international skaters mixed with national level skaters. There was 25 skaters yet I still felt alone on the ice," he said. "It was beyond motivation, I was not motivated, I was just more frustrated because there was so many people." In Detroit, there are usually about eight elite skaters on the ice, including U.S. team member Jeremy Abbott, and rising Canadian skater Elladj Balde. "Coming here, I was worried I was not going to be able to make friends and would be alone again. but that was totally not the case," he said. "We all get along, so we all move for each other, we all respect each other, we all push each other, we all motivate each other. And then if I have a bad day, I can get off the ice and sit in the lobby and have my lunch with Elladj and totally forget about the session and just laugh about things outside of skating. "Those little things go a long, long way. We come in every day, and it gets monotonous, it gets boring, its frustrating, so its good to have your friends around and have people who support you and make you laugh and make you forget about skating once in awhile." Russell Wilson Jersey . -- Amid stories about JeremyLin and the upcoming all-star game, the Detroit Pistons have quietly become one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Luis Sardinas Jersey . -- Minnesota Vikings running back AdrianPeterson is listed as probable to return to the lineup Sunday against the New Orleans Saints after missing the past three games with a high ankle sprain.NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets reached an agreement in principle Wednesday with Lionel Hollins to become their coach, moving quickly after the departure of JasonKidd. The deal with the former Memphis Grizzlies coach comes two days after the Nets made a trade with Milwaukee to allow Kidd out of his contract so the Bucks could hire him. Nets general manager Billy King and his assistants then met with Hollins on Monday night and again Tuesday before agreeing to the deal. Terms were not disclosed. "I want to thank the Nets ownership and Billy for this opportunity," Hollins said in a statement. "It has been a long process to get back into the league, and I believe that Billy and I will have a very successful working relationship. Brooklyn has firmly established itself as a franchise that is committed to winning, and I eagerly look forward to becoming part of that culture and building on the success of the past two playoff appearances." The Nets will introduce Hollins at a press conference Monday. Hollins led Memphis to 56 victories and the 2013 Western Conference finals before he and the Grizzlies parted ways. The Nets considered him last year after firing P.J. Carlesimo before hiring Kidd. He was the only known candidate the Nets interviewed this time. King said he had reached out to one other person who chose not to pursue the job. "If you look at (his) track record and what he did in Memphis, he was able to go in there and take a team, added somme veterans and they continually got better," King said Tuesday. Yu Darvish Authentic Jersey. "He developed some young guys, (Marc) Gasol, some big guys. If you look at Memphis, they got consistently got better every year. All the way to the Western Conference finals." Kidd led Brooklyn to a 44-38 record and the second round of the playoffs in his lone season but the Nets allowed him to pursue other jobs after denying his request for more power within the organization. The Bucks held Kidds welcoming press conference earlier Wednesday. Hollins is known as a strong defensive coach, with the Grizzlies holding opponents to an NBA-low 89.3 points per game in his final season. He is the franchises career leader in wins and led them to three straight playoff appearances. He takes over a veteran team in Brooklyn that could easily fit his style of play if KevinGarnett and PaulPierce return, and BrookLopez and DeronWilliams come back healthy after surgeries. Hollins went 214-201 with the Grizzlies and improved the teams record in each of his four full seasons, from 40 wins in 2009-10 to 56-26 in his final season. Memphis upset top-seeded San Antonio in the first round of the 2011 playoffs. But the Grizzlies came under new ownership and management during his final season, and they chose not to renew Hollins contract after they were swept by the Spurs in the conference finals. He met last month with Cleveland before the Cavaliers hired David Blatt. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Workplace Policies (Effective Immediately) 1. Greg Olsen Womens Jersey .1 Disagreements Minor disagreements shall be settled with small acts of violence: a slap to the face, a stapler to the groin, or a laptop to the knees are just a few examples. Employees may use any workplace object or surface in order to injure other employees. Remember: violence encourages others to better understand your way of thinking, and fosters respect in future disagreements. Those who attempt to settle minor disagreements with reason and dialogue shall be in violation of The Code. Major disagreements shall be settled by dropping the gloves and chucking knuckles. The last employee standing shall be considered in the right, though both employees shall be sent home for the duration of that workday. Third parties in disagreements are strictly forbidden, and any third party combatants shall be sent home without pay for the duration of the workweek, though will be considered to have grit and admirable character. Third party incidents shall be ignored if the number of those in the disagreement grows to include the division or team its entirety. Those not participating in a full-division disagreement shall be in violation of The Code and will be considered to be absent of grit and admirable character. 1.2 Benefits and Compensation Benefits and compensation shall henceforth be awarded without reason or rationale. Lower level employees will inexplicably, at times, be better compensated than executives or long-serving employees. Those in the Toronto offices shall be compensated at a rate double of that in regional offices. Performance shall have little to do with compensation. Unquantifiable intangibles will be cited as reasons for inflated remuneration. Those who have outstanding fourth quarters shall be rewarded for that quarter in ignorance of all previous quarters. Those who carry the bulk of the workload and adhere to The Code shall be rewarded in empty platitudes, but not monetarily, though will be considered to have grit and admirable character. 1.3 Responsibility Failure and underperformance by teams and divisions shall fall upon the team leaders and divisional executives. If teams or divisions fail to meet expectations, the team leader or divisional executive shall be summarily dismissed. Teams and divisions will publicly praise their dismissed leaders, and will promise to continue to support the organization with efforts of no less than 110%. 1.4 Discrimination and Harassment We expect and demand a respectful and professional work environment. Discrimination shall not be accepted under any circumstances, with the following exceptions: If it involves Europeans. If it involves French Canadians. If it involves non-Canadians. If its really funny. Harassment shall be tolerated only under the following circumstances: If it involves interns. If it involves first-year employees. If it involves guys who had it coming. If its really funny. For circumstances that do not fall into the above categories, please refer to The Code. 1.5 Statement on the Bearing of Firearms Carrying of firearms is strictly prohibited. This is not the NFL. 1.6 Health & Safety All workplace-related injuries and illnesses shall be kept private, and referred to only as upper- and lower-body ailments. Employees who are absent while suffering from workplace-related injuries and illnesses shall be considered to be lacking grit and admirable character. Should an employee be absent due to non-workplace health issues (hangovers, STDs, pregnant in an adulterous affair), their ailment shall be referred to as the flu or food poisoning. Information concerning hangovers, STDs, and pregnancies from adulterous affairs shall be kept within the organization, under the purview of The Code, and because they are indicative of grit and admirable character. For safety purposes, suits and protective headwear shall be worn at all times on the premises, and removed only in instances of disagreements (see 1.1) or celebration. Athletic supporters are not mandatory, but, cmon. 1.7 Nepotism Nepotism shall be rewarded and encouraged. Family members of previously successful employees shall be determined to possess equal or superior skills to the aforementioned. Automatic respect will be garnered. 1.8 Alcohol & Drugs Use of alcohol and drugs on work premises are strictly forbidden, except during celebrations or getting ready for a big day. Alcohol and drug use on employees personal time shall be discouraged, though ignored if said employees are productive or adhere to The Code or have grit and admirable character. 1.9 Media Relations After each workday, all employees shall be required to address the media. Team leaders and divisional executives shall issue brief statements, followed by terse and adversarial responses to the medias questions. The media shall, at all times, be considered ill-informed and intrusive. Employees will be permitted to answer questions with only the following five responses: We gave a 100% and put in a full day. Its all about the team. I refer you to The Code. Were taking it one day at a time. Only time will tell. Any media member who challenges the policies or activities of the organization will be questioned for not having previously worked in our industry, and dismissed for a lack of understanding of The Code or the merits of those who have grit and admirable character. 2.0 Treatment of Co-Workers All co-workers shall refer to each other by their first name or surname with a y added to the end (Smith=Smithy or Smitty, Dave=Davey) or by a nickname that is equally affectionate and insulting. Adolescent, insulting, and vile language is henceforth the norm. Employees are encouraged to insult co-workers by calling each other by names that are not gender appropriate, referring to having intercourse with each others mothers and/or partners, and to question both the size and effectiveness of employees manhood. Such language is noted to adhere to The Code, and those who excel at its employment are seen to have grit and admirable character. 2.1 Transferability Henceforth, all employee contracts are transferable. Without notice or warning, any employee may be transferred to another organization. Reasoning for the transfer must include: Spite. Mismanagement. An attempt to shake things up. Disagreement over compensation. Perceived disrespect. Employees request. Failure to adhere to The Code. Lack of grit and/or admirable character. Alternately, employees may now be demoted to subsidiary organizations with lesser facilities in lesser locations, though these subsidiaries are known to foster grit and admirable character. 2.2 Repercussions Minor violation of any of these policies, or any act that violates The Code, will result in a half-day banishment to a secured cubicle that has been built in each divisions workspace. While in the secured cubicle, penalized employees will feel shame. Major violations shall require suspensions at the purview of management, though the length of any suspension shall not be related to any other. At the discretion of management, minor and major violations may be ignored if they are deemed to fall under the discretion of The Code. In such instances, the offending party shall be labeled as having grit and admirable character. Conclusion Each of these policies may change without notice or rationale at the discretion of management, and every 4-8 years the workplace shall be shutdown for 8 months to reevaluate all policies to the great frustration of our valued customers. All employees are forthwith encouraged to adhere to The Code and develop grit and admirable character, or they should go work for a European organization. Interested parties may opt to enroll in the organizations monthly character building workshops on the Sutter Family farm in Viking, Alberta. Kelvin Benjamin Panthers Jersey . The deal, filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, calls for the NCAA to toughen return-to-play rules for players who receive head blows and create a $70 million fund to pay for thousands of current and former athletes to undergo testing to determine whether they suffered brain trauma while playing football and other contact sports. Sam Mills Jersey .C. -- Tony Stewart has driven a sprint car again, roughly 10 months after the accident that sidelined the three-time NASCAR champion with a broken leg.Free agent NelsonCruz and the Baltimore Orioles have reached agreement on a one-year deal, giving the slugger a fresh start after his drug suspension. A person familiar with the agreement told The Associated Press on Saturday that Cruz will earn about $8.5 million, and can make more in performance bonuses. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract wasnt complete. Other media outlets had reported a deal was in place. The 33-year-old Cruz was suspended 50 games last year while with the Texas Rangers as a result of Major League Baseballs investigation into the Biogenesis drug scandal. He returned from the penalty in time to play one game -- he went 0 for 4 in the Rangers loss to Tampa Bay in a tiebreaker for the second AL wild-card spot. Baltimore began full-squad workouts at spring training earlier this week, and Cruz was among the last prominent free agents to find a team. Manager Buck Showalters team opened camp still in need of a designated hitterr, preferably someone to join big league home run champion ChrisDavis in the lineup. Cam Newton Womens Jersey. Cruz may well find the cozy dimensions at Camden Yards to his liking -- he is a career .333 hitter with two homers and nine RBIs in 81 at-bats at the ballpark. Baltimore signed DelmonYoung to a minor league contract in the off-season, and also was looking at free agent KendrysMorales. Cruz, a two-time All-Star in the outfield, is expected to become Baltimores DH. If so, he could be the Orioles 12th different opening day DH in 12 years. Cruz hit .266 with 27 homers and 76 RBIs in 109 games last year. Hes averaged 27 homers in the last five seasons. The Orioles finished 85-77 last season, a year after they made their first playoff appearance since 1997. DannyValencia was most often in the DH spot, starting 38 times and hitting .304 overall with eight homers and 23 RBIs. Baltimore traded Valencia to Kansas City for DavidLough in December. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

TSN. Nike Air Max 2015 Mujer Precio .cas NHL Play of the Year showdown continues today with two of the games brightest young stars showing off very different skill sets. The 12th match-up of the Round of 32 sees MattDuchenes dangle go head-to-head with StevenStamkos swing. Duchene breaks in on the wing with only KarlAlzner between him and the net. He protects the puck outside before making a dirty drag move back to the inside. The finish, though, was also a thing of beauty, as Duchene gets his flick shot under the bar, over MichalNeuvirths shoulder and finds the top shelf. Stamkos, meanwhile, shows of some serious hand-eye coordination. OndrejPalats shot from in tight finds the crossbar behind RobinLehner, but the rebound pops high in the air and starts to fall off to the left side of the net. Stamkos watches the falling disc, chokes up on his stick and is given the green light to swing. There are two amazing parts to this play. First, he gets the stick under the bar (despite the official making an immediate no-goal call, the goal would stand) and - if you watch the replay Stamkos gets the puck squarely with the blade of his stick. If it hadnt been a goal, it likely would have been a solid single up the middle. You can watch the highlights and make your decision here. The Blue Jackets entered this series against the Metropolitan Division champions as heavy underdogs, but they sit tied with the Penguins at two wins apiece. Columbus has arrived at this point with a pair of overtime victories, including a 4-3 triumph in Wednesdays Game 4 clash at Nationwide Arena that gave the franchise its first home playoff win.WASHINGTON -- The Boston Celtics were tired from playing the night before and so undermanned that they resorted to a 10-day-contract backcourt for part of the game. The Washington Wizards were again trying to erase the stigma of mediocrity. Surely, against this Celtics lineup, this would be the night they would end their long and laborious quest to get above .500. Never mind. The Celtics won. JeffGreen put the team on his shoulders and scored a season-high 39 points, while the Wizards wilted with a display of selfish basketball. Boston blew a 19-point first-half lead, but GeraldWallace made a driving layup with 2.5 seconds remaining in overtime Wednesday night for the 113-111 victory that snapped a 10-game road losing streak. "Lot of reasons to give up," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. "And they didnt do that." Green shot early and often, finishing with career-highs in 3-pointers attempted (16) and made (8). Rookie PhilPressey added a career-high 20 points. The Celtics played without Rajon Rando, AveryBradley and JerrydBayless and at one point had ChrisJohnson and VanderBlue, both on 10-day contracts, on the floor together in the second quarter. "I just put myself in the position where I had to be the man to carry the team and shoot the ball," Green said. "So thats what I did." JohnWall had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his second career triple-double for Washington, but he went 9 for 29 from the field and missed a potential game-winning, contested 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime. The Wizards havent won a game to move above .500 since Halloween 2009 and have failed to win this season at 0-0, 9-9, 14-14, 19-19 and 20-20. The milestone has become such a psychological hurdle that coach Randy Wittman this week had to caution against thoughts that "all of a sudden fairy dust is going to fall on us if we get over .500." This time Wittman was angry because he said his players came down with a case of "I got mine," looking to pad their stats against a team that was supposed to be easy pickings. "I can get mine because who are we playing?" Wittman said forcefully. &quuot; You cannot screw with the basketball gods like that. New Balance 574 Mujer. It always comes back to get you. ... Every player in this league can play. Theyre in the NBA. Every player can play. And if you dont give them the respect, this is what happens." Wall pleaded guilty. "It starts with me," he said. "I took too many shots tonight and didnt move the ball like were supposed to in the first half. ... For some reason, we dont go out there in that first half when weve got an opportunity to go (above) .500 and play as a team. We get to playing selfish." Bostons Rondo sat out the second half of a back-to-back in his return from major knee surgery, Bradley is sidelined for about two weeks after spraining his right ankle against the Miami Heat the night before, and recently acquired guard Bayless missed his second consecutive game with a sprained left big toe and is day to day. Stevens therefore started a lineup consisting of a backup point guard -- undrafted rookie Pressey -- and four forwards. Blue made his NBA debut after being signed earlier in the day. The Wizards played the first half as if in slow motion, but the Celtics looked like their patchwork selves in the third quarter, committing a pair of offensive fouls during an 11-0 Wizards run. MartellWebster gave the Wizards their first lead of the game with a four-point play that made the score 88-87 with 6:37 remaining in regulation, but neither team could make a clutch shot in the final minute of the fourth quarter with the score tied. Pressey had made only 6 of 38 3-pointers all season, but he went 5 for 6 from 3-point range against the Wizards. His 3-pointer in the final minute of overtime gave the Celtics a 111-108 lead. The Wizards tied the game when MarcinGortat made 1 of 2 free throws with 13.9 seconds left in the extra period, but they couldnt stop Wallace from making the winning basket. "We had a good start to the third quarter," Wizards forward TrevorBooker said. "But other than that, we played like doo-doo." NOTES: Bostons 10-game road skid was its longest since a 12-game streak in 2007. ... Booker returned after missing one game with a sprained left ankle.cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

MELBOURNE, Australia - At an Australian Open marked by upsets and new story lines, Rafael Nadal will play Sundays final against a man often called the "other" Swiss tennis player. Taijuan Walker Authentic Jersey . Now, after a stunning run in Melbourne, Stanislas Wawrinka has a new nickname: The Stanimal a tribute to his gritty, fight-until-the end style of tennis. Fittingly, perhaps, the name was apparently coined by none other than Roger Federer, in a tweet of support for his friend which quickly caught on earlier in the tournament. Now that Federer is out of the running he lost to Nadal in the semifinals the 17-time Grand Slam winner and long-time ambassador for Swiss tennis has joined those cheering for Wawrinka to win his first Grand Slam final. It is a match that holds historical significance for all three players. If the No. 1-ranked Nadal wins, as the odds suggest he will, the 27-year-old Spaniard will become the first player to win each of the majors twice in the Open era. It would be his 14th Grand Slam trophy and bring him one step closer to Federers all-time record of 17. If No. 8-ranked Wawrinka beats Nadal to win his first major title, he catapults to a career high of No. 3 in the rankings. Just reaching the final assures Wawrinka of the No. 5 spot, meaning for the first time he will pass Federer, who is now ranked sixth. On the eve of the final, Wawrinka said he was still shocked by his success. "Its insane. Its incredible," the 28-year-old Wawrinka said Saturday, speaking to reporters in English and in his native French. "I never imagined that one day I would be here, playing in the final." After a breakthrough year in 2013, Wawrinka is playing the best tennis of his life in Melbourne. He knocked out three-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals and beat No. 7 Tomas Berdych in the semifinals. He knows how tough it will be to beat Nadal hes tried and failed 12 times. "Ive played him so many times, and lost so many times, but Im going to try again," Wawrinka said. "I know what I have to do. I know that I have to play aggressive, serve really well, and try to always push him." "Im playing my best tennis here," Wawrinka added. "Physically, Im ready.". Nadal says hes ready, too, for a breakthrough at what he calls his unluckiest Grand Slam. Nadal won in Melbourne in 2009 but in subsequent years struggled with injuries during or before the seasons first major. He missed the 2013 Australian Open during a seven-month layoff for illness and a knee injury. He returned to win the French and U.S. Open last year but reaching the final in Melbourne holds special significance. "After missing last year for me its really, really emotional to be back on this court, Rod Laver Arena, and to be able to play another final," said Nadal, who has known Wawrinka since they were teens, playing junior tournaments in Europe. "Hes a good friend, a great guy. Im so happy for him that hes in the final. He deserves it," Nadal said. "I know it will be a very, very tough match." Wawrinkas other longtime friend, Federer, had hoped Sundays story would be about an all-Swiss final. But after losing the latest installment of the Federer-Nadal rivalry, hes cheering for Wawrinka. "I hope he wins, and I hope he gives everything he has," Federer said. "Theres no reason not believe that he can beat Rafa." "Stans in his first Grand Slam final, so that makes Stan also unpredictable. Hes got to use that to his advantage." Ichiro Suzuki Jersey . Lowry joined TSN 1050 on Monday to discuss his personal growth, what was going through his mind on his final second drive and whether his future plans include staying in Toronto. That last play will be my summertime grind, Lowry said of his final shot which was blocked by PaulPierce in the lane as time expired. Hisashi Iwakuma Jersey . -- Michael Phelps has competed in the second event of his comeback and failed to advance to the 50-meter freestyle final.DUNEDIN, Florida In one of his post-game scrums last summer, R.A.Dickey referred to his knuckleball as a "capricious animal," a phrase meant to describe the unpredictability, the figurative moodiness, of his strange pitch. ErikKratz was behind the plate to start Thursdays 7-5 win over the Phillies. He was catching Dickey for the first time in game action and afterward, could attest to his pitchers apt terminology. Asked how he thought he did on Day One, Kratz turned the tables. "How did you think I did?" He was told he did fine. "Okay, well then I did fine," said Kratz. "It wasnt perfect. I had the anticipated anxiety that I thought I would." Just how anxious was he? "I caught myself not breathing a couple of times and everything like that." Armed with a first basemans glove rather than the oversized catchers mitt preferred by most knuckleball catchers, Kratz understands hell have to be a quick study in learning both the physical and mental requirements of the job. "Just the idea of trying to relax, being out there, getting a different visual but I felt like it went very well," he said. "I felt like there is plenty of room for improvement but I think a lot of things Ive seen in his bullpen sessions, it was good to see in the game. Good to see him be able to change speeds and everything like that." Dickey laboured through the first inning, giving up a lead-off dunk single to BenRevere. One out later, BrettLawrie airmailed a throw to second on a BobbyAbreu chopper, putting Phillies on the corners. After DarinRuf walked to load the bases, a Dickey knuckleball to Maikel Franco eluded Kratz for a passed ball which scored Revere from third. Its not how you would think Kratz would prefer to have drawn it up. Its his first game catching Dickey, in the first inning and the first time with a runner on third and a knuckler gets by him. But he was more than happy to make a mistake in a spring game. Passed balls are going to happen. The key is to not get psyched out; dont make the same mistake twice. "You can say, okay, well, it was a passed ball, wild pitch, it was a tough one to get but you have to be ready for the next one," said Kratz. "I was proud of myself. I was happy about the way I was able to relax." Dickey limits the in-game responsibility of his catcher to receiving his pitch. He calls his own game, communicating velocity to his catcher in ways he wont describe publicly. Hes not going to tip his hand. Dickey doesnt even want Kratz to form a hard target with his glove. "Its probably better for the catcher and for me, for that matter, if hes just nice and relaxed," said Dickey. "Im far enough along in my process where I can pick out a shin guard and hit a fastball. Ken Griffey Mariners Jersey. I dont need him to give me a target. "Plus, if hes only giving a target on fastballs then everybody in the stadium is going to know that hey, if he gives you a target its going to be a fastball and if he doesnt give you a target its going to be a knuckleball so I just like him to be nice and relaxed back there, whatever gives him the best chance to consistently catch the ball." Given the uncertainty over DionerNavarros ability to catch more than 100 games - since Navarro hasnt done so since 2009 - the Jays are looking for more offence from their second catcher. Kratz, with 18 home runs in a back-up role over the last two seasons with the Phillies, fits the bill. JoshThole, who caught Dickey and served as the back-up catcher after HenryBlanco was released last June, appears to be the odd man out. "Hes going to play a lot," said Gibbons. "We want to make sure he gets some playing time and then well see how it develops. Kratz is going to catch (Dickey) early on, see how that develops, and then go from there." Dickeys knuckleball topped out at 73 miles per hour on Thursday. He struck out two Phillies over two innings, one on a 61-mile-per-hour knuckler and another at 63 miles per hour. He wants his hard knuckleball at 77 by opening day, his floater at 65. Dickey says hes on target to achieve those radar gun readings, adding hes feeling much stronger than he did at the end of last February, when his knuckleball was topping out in the low-70s in early Grapefruit League action. ENCARNACION HAPPY AT FIRST BASE EdwinEncarnacion chuckled at the suggestion he wants to be, or has asked to be, a full-time designated hitter. "No, whatever the manager wants to do Im ready for it," said Encarnacion. "If I have to play every day at first, Ill play. If I have to play both, Im ready for it." Encarnacion played 79 games at first base last season. He served as the designated hitter on 55 occasions. "I like to play DH sometimes because I have more time to go to the computer, watch the pitcher, watch the video," said Encarnacion. "When you play defence you dont have time to do that but for me, if I have to play first base, I dont have a problem with that." Funny, Encarnacions numbers last season were almost indistinguishable. As a first baseman, he compiled a .272/.367/.527 slash line with 19 home runs in 294 at-bats. As a DH: .270/.374/.530 and 13 home runs in 200 at-bats. ROGERS A FATHER Congratulations to EsmilRogers, the proud father of a baby daughter. Mom and little Elaina are in Denver and doing well. Rogers was there for the birth, returned to Dunedin on Wednesday and pitched in Thursdays game, giving up two runs in one inning of work. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

a teammate, and passed
ALAMEDA, Calif. zapatillas nike air max 90 hombre . -- The Oakland Raiders added a veteran presence to their young receiving group by signing free agent JamesJones to a three-year contract Monday. Oakland also signed former New York Giants offensive lineman KevinBoothe to a two-year deal. Boothe began his career with the Raiders in 2006 before spending the past seven seasons with the Giants, where he won two Super Bowl titles. Jones, who turns 30 later this month, brings a playoff pedigree and proven pass-catching ability to a position whose most experienced player currently under contract is inconsistent three-year veteran DenariusMoore. "We have a lot of young receivers," Jones said. "Ive been in the game for a minute, so Ill be able to help those guys out leadership-wise. Other than that, just doing what I do on the football field, making some plays, and hopefully I can give the offence a spark." General manager Reggie McKenzie once again reached back to his past in Green Bays front office to add a piece to the Raiders. Among the many other former Packers that McKenzie has brought in since taking over as general manager in 2012 are CharlesWoodson and MattFlynn. Jones said he has been talking to the Raiders the past few days and was lured to Oakland by McKenzies vision for a franchise that has not made the playoffs since 2002. "The way he runs his team the GM way is the kind of way I play out on the football field; just hungry and trying to be the best, and thats how Reggie is," Jones said. "Im excited to play for Reggie and hopefully we can turn this thing around." Jones has 310 career catches for 4,305 yards and 37 touchdowns in 104 games over seven seasons in Green Bay. His most productive year came in 2012 when he had 64 catches for 784 yards and 14 touchdowns. Jones had 59 catches for a career-high 817 yards and three scores last season despite being without star quarterback AaronRodgers for seven games. But after playing with Rodgers and BrettFavre his first seven seasons, Jones now joins a team with uncertainty at quarterback. TerrellePryor and Matt McGloin return after splitting most of the time last season but Oakland still is searching for its starter and will likely add more quarterbacks either through free agency or the draft. "Aaron is one of a kind. Hes a special player," Jones said. "Whoever we put behind centre here, I am going to do the same thing I did for Aaron - just run every route to win, be as open as I can to help whoever is back there and to get this offence rolling." The deal is a homecoming for Jones, who was born in San Jose and played college ball at San Jose State. Jones overcame many obstacles on his journey to the NFL, having been in and out of homeless shelters for much of his childhood. The Raiders have been lacking a veteran presence at receiver for years. Their top receiver last year was RodStreater, a former undrafted free agent who led the team with 60 catches for 888 yards in his second pro season. The other key receivers on the roster include Moore, who has shown flashes of stardom in three seasons, and AndreHolmes, who had 22 catches for 366 yards and a touchdown over the final five games in 2013. Boothe has started 32 games the past two seasons and has started at both guard positions and centre in his career. He was a starter when the Giants won the Super Bowl following the 2011 season and a reserve on their title team four years earlier. Boothe joins right tackle AustinHoward as additions on a line that lost starting left tackle JaredVeldheer to free agency. "I like the direction of the team," Boothe said. "Theyve put some pieces together here and its a great culture that theyre building over here, and I am excited to be a part of it. The fact that I have been here before, obviously, this place has always held a special place in my heart as the team that drafted me." McKenzie has placed a premium on acquiring players with winning experience so far this off-season. Six of the seven free-agent additions to Oaklands roster over the past week have played in a Super Bowl, with Jones, Boothe and defensive linemen JustinTuck and LaMarrWoodley having won it all in previous stops. zapatillas adidas zx 700 mujer .J. -- A couple of comeback kids helped the New York Giants continue their winning streak. zapatillas adidas zx 750 . The game will be made up on Thursday as part of a day-night doubleheader. Tickets for the Wednesdays game will be honoured for the 1:05 p. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- RyanJohansen has become the young Columbus Blue Jackets most promising player. Johansen scored twice and DerekMacKenzie, BrandonDubinsky and CamAtkinson also had goals to lead the Blue Jackets to a 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday night, ending a three-game losing skid. "I felt like I had the puck on my stick the whole night," said the 21-year-old, whose goal total now matches his age. The Capitals looked sluggish and slow the whole night. AlexOvechkin -- leading the NHL with 38 goals -- had a career low minus-5 rating, according to STATS. "I was today the worst player out there," he said after registering as many shots (2) as penalty minutes. "I cant play like that. I have to bounce back. ... I feel bad for my team because I have to lead. But today I was bad." Columbus rookie defenceman RyanMurray said the defence keyed on Ovechkin. "We were really isolating him on that side of the power play and just kind of blocking all the seams so they couldnt get pucks to him," he said. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets were very good. JackJohnson and FedorTyutin each had two assists for the Blue Jackets, who had totalled six goals in the losing streak. MacKenzie opened the scoring with a short-handed goal and seemed to light a fire under the Blue Jackets. Dubinsky had an assist to go with his goal. And SergeiBobrovsky had 30 saves, 19 of them coming in the ragged, penalty-filled final period. "It was a huge win for the guys," coach Todd Richards said. "We challenged them this afternoon, (saying we were) needing more from individuals. We got that tonight." Each team was 0 for 7 on the power play in a chippy, physical game that saw Washington defenceman MikeGreen pounded into the boards on a check by BooneJenner in the first period. He did not return. The Capitals TomWilson also laid out Blue Jackets defenceman NikitaNikitin, which seemed to add some edge to his teammates. The Blue Jackets tied a franchise mark by scoring at least three goals in each game of a team-record eight-game winning streak but had mustered just two per game in the three losses since. nike roshe run mujer baratas. Meanwhile, the Capitals had scored 10 goals in winning their last two games. "We scored in different ways," Richards said. "We had a short-handed goal that gave our team some life. Then Joey (Johansen) stepped up. He had a big game." Yet Columbus roared to a 4-0 lead and never looked back. JoelWard had a short-handed goal and EricFehr also scored for the Capitals, who had won two in a row after dropping seven straight. "We were terrible," Washington coach AdamOates said after his team fell behind 2-0 after a period. "It was probably the worst period Ive seen the boys play in over a year. Why, I dont know. It was collectively all of us." The Capitals were playing their fourth of a season-long five-game road trip that ends in Detroit on Friday night. Moments after Bobrovsky gloved a power-play shot by Ovechkin, the Blue Jackets scored a short-handed goal. MacKenzie pounced on a loose puck at centre ice and skated in from the left wing unimpeded, deking to get BradenHoltby down on the ice and then sliding the puck inside the near post. Johansen then carried the puck up the ice on a break, pulled up to look for a teammate, and passed to JackJohnson, who fired a slap shot from the right point. The puck caromed off Jenner and Johansen had a vacant net to tap in the rebound. On goals by Dubinsky and Johansens second, the Capitals were basically spectators, watching while they made moves and put the puck in the net. The final 28 minutes was a succession of penalties. The damage had already been done. "We lost some of our discipline and took too many penalties in the third period, got away from our game," Johansen said. "But we did a great job in the first and second periods." Notes: Columbus LW BlakeComeau, still hurting from a sprained ligament in his left knee, was scratched. ... The game was eerily similar to a lopsided 5-1 Blue Jackets victory over the Caps on Jan. 18, also in Nationwide Arena. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

It has been 10 years since SteveMoores NHL career ended with an attack by former Vancouver Canucks forward ToddBertuzzi. Eddie Murray Authentic Jersey. The 35-year-old Moore says he still suffers from headaches and low energy, even if he feels better overall and wants to get on with his life. But there has been no closure for the former Colorado Avalanche centre, whose $38-million dollar lawsuit against Bertuzzi and the Canucks is still in the courts after numerous delays. A trial date has been set for Sept. 8. Moore, a rookie on a powerhouse Avalanche team, still remembers that game on March 8, 2004, and the devastating effect it had on his career. "I think about it at times like this," Moore said Friday in a phone interview with The Canadian Press. "When the anniversary comes around, its hard not to reflect on the impact this has had on my life, which is dramatic. "At the same time I think a lot about how grateful I am that this wasnt worse. Every time I watch it I have the same reaction other people have, which is shock and disgust. Its just a little stronger when its yourself youre looking at and when youre aware of everything that happened in the three weeks leading up to it -- the threats and all those things." It all started on Feb. 16, 2004, when Moore flattened Canucks captain MarkusNaslund with an open ice hit that put Vancouvers scoring star out with a concussion but was deemed legal by the NHL. Major retaliation was expected. Vancouvers BradMay was quoted as saying there was a "bounty" on Moores head. But when the teams next met on March 3, with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in the house, there were no incidents. The fireworks came in their March 8 game, a 9-2 Colorado win. Moore squared off against MattCooke in the first period, a fight that was considered a draw. It appeared that was the end of if. But things got nasty in the third frame. Moore was challenged again. He turned away. Bertuzzi skated up behind him, tugging on his jersey, then punching him from behind and falling on top of him as other players piled in. Moore lay motionless on the ice in a pool of blood before being stretchered off and taken to hospital. The diagnosis was a concussion and three fractured vertebrae. Bertuzzi was suspended for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs, which cost him about $502,000, and he didnt play during the 2004-05 lockout season. But he was reinstated for the 2005-06 campaign and has since continued his career, most recently with Detroit. He also pleaded guilty to a criminal charge of assault causing bodily harm and was sentenced in 2006 to a years probation and 80 hours of community service. There was also Bertuzzis tearful apology on television. But nothing could fully heal Moores wounds. After five years visiting the best specialists he could find, he was told he had made a remarkable recovery but none would give him clearance to play hockey again. His career was over. "That was a very difficult time for me," he said. "It took a heck of a lot longer than I expected, but I was expecting to go back and I never thought about anything other than returning to play." He has since started the SteveMoore Foundation to help people with head and neck injuries. "Over the last few years, with the number of concussion injuries, especially with high-profile players, the public has been educated in a major way, but we still have a long way to go not just in making people aware of this, but in avoiding them and treating them," he said. While Moores foundation keeps him busy, he is also still dealing with the lawsuit, which could set a standard for determining responsibility for on-ice behaviour and injuries. Moore said the suit was not so much about the money as being compensated for the loss of his dreams. When Moore was injured, he was in his first full NHL season. He had five goals and seven assists in 57 games, but injuries had seen him move up from the fourth line to regular duty with stars like JoeSakic and PaulKariya. "I lost my entire career in my rookie year," he said. "I think any player put in that situation would do the same thing. "I cant recover anything else. I cant recover my career, the experience of living out my dream from the time I was two and half years old of playing in the NHL." He said the injury cost him all the good things about being an NHL player: rewarding himself and his family for the hours they put in to get him there, the chance to skate in the playoffs and maybe even win a Stanley Cup, or even the chance to be an inspiration to youngsters hoping to be in the league one day. "Everything I watched my peers go through the last 10 years," he said. "Ive watched the careers theyve had and I cant get any of that back." Bertuzzi has alleged the Canucks then-coach Marc Crawford urged his players to make Moore "pay the price," while Crawford has claimed Bertuzzi disobeyed instructions to get off the ice before Moore was attacked. Asked if he has forgiven Bertuzzi, Moore spoke instead of being frustrated at the repeated delays in the trial and the resistance put up by the opposing side in the lawsuit. "Im a very forgiving person," said Moore, who lives in Toronto with his wife and two small children. "Everyone saw what happened on March 8, 2004, but what they havent seen in whats gone on since then. "To me, its just been a continuation of what happened, just off ice and away from the cameras. Its not a situation that happened 10 years ago and its over and everythings been resolved and moved on. "Theres nobody that would like to move on more than me. Every day I try to move on, and I have moved on in other areas of my life, but this isnt over."Wei-Yin Chen Orioles Jersey . McCann was hurt in the third inning Friday night against Cleveland but remained in the game until he was pinch hit for in the sixth. Manager JoeGirardi said McCann was feeling cloudy. J.J. Hardy Authentic Jersey . Blown save in the ninth inning? No problem.SEATTLE -- Lloyd McClendon was hired as manager of the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, taking over a rebuilding job that Eric Wedge walked away from. McClendon becomes the third manager hired by general manager Jack Zduriencik. Wedge quit at the end of the Mariners fourth straight losing season, citing differences with the front office on how to move forward with improving the team. Wedges three-year contract expired after the season. The 54-year-old McClendon is the 16th full-time manager in club history. He takes over a club that went 71-91 last year. He will be formally introduced by the team on Thursday. "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to manage the Seattle Mariners," McClendon said in a statement. "Seattle has a tremendous group of talented players and the fans and city should be excited about the clubs future. Im looking for this group to take a big step forward." Seattle is the fourth club to fill its managerial vacancy. The Washington Nationals hired Matt Williams to replace Davey Johnson. The Cincinnati Reds, who fired Dusty Baker after a 90-win season, went with pitching coach BryanPrice as their new manager and Detroit chose BradAusmus to take over for Jim Leyland -- a job McClendon interviewed for. The Chicago Cubs are still looking for a manager. McClendon was the manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2001-05, going 336-446 during the Pirates 20-year stretch of losing seasons. Pittsburgh never won more than 75 games or finished higher than fourth in the NL Central during his tenure and he was fired in early September of the 2005 season. After Pittsburgh, McClendon settled into a stable role Leylands staff in Detroit. For eight seasons, McClendon was a coach for the Tigers, including the last seven as hitting coach. He interviewed for managerial positions in Seattle and Miami during that stretch, but never got an offer. "Lloyd is a bright and articulate guy," Zduriencik said in the statement. "He has major league managerial experience and has served in a vital capacity in Detroit under one of the games best managers. He is a tireless worker and is very respected by the players with whhom he has worked. Dylan Bundy Orioles Jersey. We look forward to Lloyd embracing our players as we move the Mariners forward." Zduriencik didnt expect to be in this position. As of late September, Zduriencik was preparing for Wedge to be around to continue to rebuild Seattle into a contender. Instead Wedge left and Zduriencik was tasked with hiring the eighth manager or interim manager for the franchise since 2002. McClendon was one of five reported finalists for the Mariners job, a list that included Joey Cora, Oakland bench coach Chip Hale, Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach and San Diego bench coach Rick Renteria. McClendon was the only one of the group with previous major league managerial experience. Cora had ties to the Mariners franchise from his time as a player in Seattle. McClendon spent eight seasons in the majors as a player with Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and the Chicago Cubs. He immediately transitioned from a playing career into coaching, serving as a hitting coach for the Pirates in 1995 until he accepted their managerial position before the 2001 season. McClendon will likely need time to build a winner in Seattle even with a starting rotation anchored by AL Cy Young award finalist HisashiIwakuma and 2010 Cy Young winner FelixHernandez. The Mariners havent been to the post-season since 2001, and there are numerous roster questions for the club playing in one of baseballs toughest divisions. Seattle has high hopes for young catcher MikeZunino, shortstop Brad Miller and second baseman NickFranklin. JustinSmoak solidified himself at first base after showing some consistency at the plate last season and third baseman KyleSeager was the Mariners most reliable everyday player. But even with making a qualifying offer, it seems unlikely slugging designated hitter KendrysMorales will accept a $14.1 million, one-year deal when there could be a bigger pot in free agency. RaulIbanez hit 29 homers at age 41, but there its unclear if Seattle wants to bring him back, and hes not a long-term solution. The rest of the Mariners outfield is unproven and their bullpen struggled for stretches of the season. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Tim Wallach, Murray Cook and Dave Van Horne - three men whose names were synonymous with the Montreal Expos - will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on June 21. Adam Jones Orioles Jersey . The Hall also announced on Monday that Canadian national team coach Jim Ridley will be inducted posthumously. "Tim Wallach and Dave Van Horne are two names that have become synonymous with the Montreal Expos, and both have had a significant impact on baseball in this country, and Murray Cook and Jim Ridley helped blaze a trail for Canadians in the professional scouting and executive ranks," said Scott Crawford, the halls director of operations said in a statement. "Were proud and excited to celebrate their careers in St. Marys this June." Wallach is the Expos all-time leader in several statistical categories, including games played (1,767), hits (1,694), doubles (360), RBI (905) and total bases (2,728). Nicknamed "Eli" by his teammates, Wallach also ranks third all-time amongst Expos in runs (737) and fourth in home runs (204). Chosen 10th overall by the Expos in the 1979 amateur draft, Wallach began his big league career as an outfielder before evolving into the best third baseman in the franchises history. In 13 seasons with the Expos from 1980 to 1992, Wallach was selected to five all-star games (1984, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1990), won three Gold Gloves (1985, 1988, 1990) and captured two Silver Slugger Awards (1985, 1987). He was also named to the Topps All-Star Rookie team in 1981, topped the National League in doubles in 1987 and 1989 and finished fourth in National League MVP voting in 1987. Van Horne began his Montreal career behind the mike with the Expos first game on April 8, 1969 until the end of the 2000 season. He became known for his trademark catch-phrases like "Up, up and away!" when the Expos hit a home run. In his 32 seasons with the Expos, he broadcast the down-to-the-wire pennant races in 1979 and 1980, the teams only post-season run in 1981 and Dennis Martinezs perfect game on July 28, 1991 a performance that inspired, perhaps, his most famous call, "El Presidente, El Perfecto!" In 2001, Van Horne accepted the radio play-by-play position with the Florida Marlins and he would later broadcast the clubs World Series-winning 2003 campaign. In 1996, Van Horne received the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fames Jack Graney Award for broadcasting excellence and 15 years later, he was the recipient of the National Baseball Hall of Fames equivalent honour, the Ford C. Frick Award. Now entering his 46th year of broadcasting major league games, Van Horne is set to become the second Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee (Tom Cheek is the other) to have won both the Jack Graney and Ford C. Frick Awards. Born in Sackville, N.B. in 1940, Murray Cook has spent more than half a century in professional baseball. After graduating from Ohio University with a masters degree in history in 1962, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played shortstop and third base in the lower levels of their system for parts of four years, before hanging up his spikes to become the general manager of their Class-A affiliate in Gastonia in 1966. The Pirates promoted him to their big league front office in 1967. He was named the teams assistant farm director the following year and soon rose through the ranks to become the clubs assistant director of minor league operations in 1972 and director of scouting in 1977. After 21 years in the Pirates organization, Cook was hired to be the New York Yankees scouting director in January 1983. Just over six months later, he was named the clubs general manager, becoming just the second Canadian to be a big league GM (Huntsville, Ont., native George Selkirk was the Washington Senators GM from 1964 to 1969). Cook remains just one of five Canadians to serve as a GM at the major league level. The others are Selkirk, Gord Ash (Toronto Blue Jays, 1995 to 2001), Doug Melvin (Texas Rangers, 1994 to 2001; Milwaukee Brewers, 2003 to present) and Alex Anthopoulos (Toronto Blue Jays, 2009 to present). In 1984, Cook was reassigned to the position of vice-president and director of scouting with the Yankees, before he replaced John McHale as general manager of the Expos on September 5 of that year. Drafting RandyJohnson, signing free agent Dennis Martinez and rebuilding the Expos into a surprising contender were among the highlights of his close to three years in Montreal. Following his tenure with the Expos, he served as the general manager of the Cincinnati Reds in 1988 and 1989. Since 1990, he has worked in scouting capacities for the Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. In 2010, he was named East Scout of the Year for his contributions to the scouting field. He is currently the Tigers East Coast regional cross checker. After two seasons as an outfielder in the Milwaukee Braves organization in 1964 and 1965, Toronto native Jim Ridley returned to Canada where he would have a significant impact on baseball in his home country for the next four decades. While continuing his playing career in the Intercounty Baseball League where he was named league MVP with Stratford Hillers in 1974 Ridley launched his storied coaching and scouting career. He began as a part-time scout with the Detroit Tigers in 1973, before joining the Toronto Blue Jays in 1976 to run the clubs first tryout camp in Utica, N.Y. In his 26 years as a scout with the Blue Jays, Ridley was the driving force behind the clubs decisions to sign Canadians like Paul Spoljaric, Rob Butler and David Corrente. He also served as a coach with the Blue Jays rookie-level affiliate in Medicine Hat from 1978 to 1980. A highly respected coach at the local level, Ridley also coached the Canadian junior national team from 1983 to 1988, leading the squad to bronze medals at the World Junior Baseball Championship in 1983 and 1987. In 1988, he coached the Canadian Olympic baseball team and three years later, he was tabbed to manage Canadas squad at the Pan Am Games. Starting in 2002, Ridley served as a scout with the Minnesota Twins. ReneTosoni and Jon Waltenbury are among the Canadians he signed and brought into the Twins organization. Ridley passed away from cancer on November 28, 2008. Each year, the Canadian Baseball Network presents the Jim Ridley Award to the countrys top scout in his memory. Chris Tillman Jersey .
